We contacted many remodelers and re-plaster companies. After our search we decided on Generation Pool Plastering. They are a small family owned business which I liked. Their prices were reasonable, and they did not attempt to up sale unnecessary items. Picking the surface and tile was easy thanks to the samples they had in the show room. They also provide the catalog to see other options as well. The quality of work was satisfactory. We have no complaints. Big thanks to the one guy who spent two days installing 2 new skimmers and trenching and piping about 100 ft of new pipe. That man worked extremely hard and I was impressed he did it by himself. They dont do concrete. So if you're doing concrete, make sure you have good communication between your concrete guy and them. Coordinating the two was probably the worst part of the remodel. Nobody's fault, just need to get both contractors on the same page scheduling wise. If you get dark plaster, it WILL NOT be even. They explain this and make you sign. I honestly like the variation in our darker color. But don't be surprised or upset. It happens and its just cosmetic. I waited a year to do my review and we have had no issues. Less than 4 years after having our pool resurfaced we have a big rust spot coming down the side. Val says this is normal. Just be aware your warranty does not include rust spots coming through after being resurfaced. read more

We bought a house with an old pool two years ago. The house flippers tried painting the pool to make it look better before filling it and it LOOKED okay at first, but within weeks it was horrible, the paint turned brown around the jets and the vacuum was pulling off the paint in huge chunks. Please everyone, please do NOT paint a pool unless you know what you're doing! We decided to replaster/tile this year and I started trying to find a company. I overheard a lady at the pool store telling someone she replastered a few years back so I asked her who she had used, she said Rodriguez Bros, but they appeared to be out of business. I sent a request out on Yelp and two companies responded. One came out to see the pool and one just did a quote through text. The guy who came out was from Generation but I saw on his shirt that it said Rodriguez Bros - it's the same family, they renamed it Generation because they are on their fourth generation in the business. :) I hired them. I chose a plain Jane white plaster with really basic tiles. They also replaced the old busted up skimmer, installed a handrail because we are aging, and replaced the nonfunctional original light fixture. I love it so much. I may be unreasonably excited about finally having a working light :) It's September so we probably won't be getting in again until next year but that's okay. I'm one of those weird people who genuinely enjoys maintaining a pool so in that way I enjoy it year round. Anyways the whole process went great, everyone was very nice, and really it wasn't even all that exprensive overall. I highly recommend this company. read more

When I first moved into my home 8 years ago, the pool plaster had a fair amount of staining and deterioration. I looked into different companies to resurface the pool and felt that Generation Pool Plastering offered great pricing and quality. We were referred to Generation Pool Plastering in the hopes of remedying a previous sub-standard plaster job by another contractor. First the owners do a great job communicating - it's summer and they are very busy but rarely did an email take more than 24 hours to get a response from Erma (even on weekends) - usually an email came back within a few hours and a text was almost immediate. Man I can't say enough great things about Generation Pool Plastering and the owner Valentino and his entire crew! Very responsive, always answered my calls (and I called a lot lol) Valentino and Erma always answered, and if the rare occasion they didn't answer, they always called me back right away and answered my questions. I don't know why people on here say that the office staff was rude and non responsive, because that is so far from the truth, Erma always responded to me in a very reasonable time frame and was very polite, every time. My wife and I went to there show room to pick out tile, and she was so nice and patient with us, as we were taking forever, and Erma was helpful, kind and patient. I think the people that were saying otherwise in there review, either need to get there head examined, or they are just the people that think the world revolves around them, or that they are the only customer... unreel! Valentino's son came and did our tile and you can tell he has passion for what he does, he took the time to make sure everything was perfect, and it was! Valentino, went above and beyond with my pool, made sure along the way that I was happy with the work and at certain stages he would let me know, now would be the time if you wanted to add anything, I did add a few things and he was more than fair with his pricing, I know because I priced stuff out with several companies, and Valentinos pricing is very competitive, I was blown away! I'll wrap it up with this, his whole team are excellent workers and take pride in what they do, along with so friendly and respectful! You can tell that they all love who they work for, I would sit back and watch them work from time to time, and they all got along, we're happy, laughing while still working hard and getting the job done. After meeting with and obtaining estimates from four companies - all of which had been recommended by others who had used their services, we decided to contract with Generation Pool Plastering for the remodel of our more than 20-year-old pool. In large part, our decision was based on the fact that Generation offered the same services for substantially less than the other companies we'd contacted, and because they are a family-owned and operated business. We had some communication hiccups, but any concerns we had were promptly addressed by Valentino Sr., and crewmembers responding to those concerns were friendly and courteous. First let me say that my husband & I are not the easiest to impress. He does a lot of work on our house and is a perfectionist. I am an over communicator, therefore communication back & forth with a contractor was one of my top concerns going into a large project. When I say "large" project I mean we needed a 100% overhaul on our pool. I joke that the only thing that didn't get redone was the existing hole - we not only needed new plaster and tile, but also coping and because our existing plumbing needed to also be completely replaced, it meant new pool deck/cement. Having said this, I can say Generation Pool met all our expectations and their communication with us was excellent. They were always on time, stayed on schedule, had a competitive estimate (one of the lowest actually), the workers were all respectful & cleaned up each day when they left, and our pool turned out exactly how we had hoped! We feel confident recommending them to friends & family looking for a pool remodel. So that's my quick recap on 5 stars. If you're interested in the details, read on... We contacted about half a dozen pool plaster businesses to come out to our house for an estimate for our original 1960's pool. We learned through contacting so many pool companies that some could be flakey - either they wouldn't show up, would be late or WE had to chase them down after they came out to get our estimate for the work. When I called Generation Pool and spoke to the owner, Val Sr., I instantly liked him. I could tell his top priority was making sure his customers were 100% satisfied and he was going to be thorough. Because Val Sr. was busy with existing pool jobs & due to my husband's work schedule, Val Jr. came out within a couple days to look at our pool and provide us the estimate for the remodel. First, we were impressed that Val Jr. was not only on time, but 5 minutes early. Doesn't seem like a big deal but with our experience with other contractors, it was. Val Jr. was very personable, took the time to listen to us - our concerns & what we wanted with no rushing us into what he thought we wanted or suggestions on up-selling us on anything. This may seem strange to point out he listened to what we wanted but a few of the other pool companies that had come out tried to talk us into replacing ALL of our pool deck in order to replace our plumbing below and to do it in a way that we wouldn't need coping because we probably wouldn't like the replacement coping. Well, we didn't want to have to replace ALL of our existing pool deck, as it was in good condition and would add on an easy $20k (and let me point out the replacement coping we ended up with is beautiful). Val Jr. suggested we move the plumbing on the other side of the pool so that we only had to replace part of the pool deck - along the deep end & the narrow path on the far side of the pool, which would be further away from line of sight for matching purposes & a smaller patch of concrete for cost purposes. This was the "think outside the box" moment that we never got with the other companies that came out.  Before & after signing the contract, and continuing into the remodel, communication was excellent - if we texted or called with a question, we got prompt replies, sometimes within minutes (certainly not expected) and each week Erma would give us the following week's schedule. Everything went smoothly, a little hiccup may have been when the tile was laid we noticed some were crooked on our step, but no big deal, we let Val know & they sent someone out the next day to fix it and we were short a handful of coping stones originally, but more were ordered and neither seemed to affect the timeline, they just worked around it and got it done! The pool turned out beautiful - we love the diamondbrite medium gray plaster color, the tile, the coping and they got the replacement cement/pool deck to match very closely (many of our friends weren't sure what sections were replaced until we pointed it out.) so when I look for a quote with any other company than this they give a call back and without attitude. when I send an email 10 days ago and you want to call and argue it's been a week put me off immediately. I don't know who the woman was but I had to hang up before scolding her on professionalism. to not be able to call set up an appointment time to do a quote within a week is very unprofessional. as a business owner myself if I had treated any. of my clients the way they treated me I would expect to have no clients soon. I have no interest work with this company and giving them $40,000 for this treatment. As for the response of this review from the owner if you or anyone could have called with intent you would have understood the scope of the project but you didn't. As for I can't appreciate; I own my own company. I have to contact clients in between projects and set time aside every day to set up schedules that work for them and myself 7 days a week. You obviously are too busy to handle any more work. You were not there for the conversation so to mislead others into believing "she was respectful" is laughable. I sent a message on 9/10/2022 it's 9/20/2022 that's 10 days. Don't argue with facts it makes you looks ignorant as an owner. My pool plaster was falling off after 18 years of service, a friend was having his pool re-plastered by Generation, I reached out to Val and he came over within a couple of days. I had a vision for what I wanted and Val confirmed what and how they could achieve it, Val gave me an honest estimate, he kept his word for what he said he would provide. Val and Erma with Generation were a pleasure to work with, as a Project Manager in the construction industry, I have a very good understanding of time lines, manpower, processes and cost controls, Val and his crew far exceeded what I was expecting, needless to say, I'm thrilled with the work Generation did on my pool. I made a couple of changes along the way and Val and Erma were very understanding of what I was trying to achieve and didn't try to deter me or gouge me in extra cost, what extra cost there was for the extra work was more than fair. **UPDATE** I reached out to Valentino directly after reading his comments below as my intention was certainly NOT to damage the reputation of this business, which by all accounts does great work on gunite pools and replastering. He returned my call within a couple hours and we were able to clarify some miscommunication that occurred. Since my pool was fully converted to a fiberglass shell, I no longer consider it a "liner" pool, however it does not have concrete/rebar support and would need those things for it to be converted and serviced by this company. Ultimately the owner is looking out for the quality and longevity of the work he does, and the office manager who I spoke with simply misunderstood what I was trying to ask from an uninformed standpoint (possibly using incorrect vocabulary). While they are not able to assist with my particular situation, if I were interested in making the conversion to gunite I would absolutely reach out to them based on how responsive and willing to discuss the situation they have been. 2 stars due to quick response but incredibly unpleasant customer service. I submitted an inquiry online regarding refinishing my fiberglass pool due to some cosmetic discoloration. The gal who called me quickly indicated they would be unable to assist as they do not work on fiberglass pools. OK, no problem, is there anyone in the area who does work on fiberglass pools that you recommend? She stated nobody would go near a fiberglass pool and my only option would be to have a completely new pool installed. A quick (more specific) Google search results in several area pool companies who specialize in fiberglass.
