The pool looks fine but repositioning my pool equipment was too difficult for their subs. So many issues. They couldn't figure out the electric timer which is real basic requiring 3 different people...maybe 4. They broke my filter and tried to use the silicone to rig it which failed. Broke the filter valve and stem in the sand filter. They also broke the stand but made sure they told me they replaced the $10 stand. We also had numerous delays. When I spoke to their pool equipment sub, he didn't know how the sand filter worked when he was hired to move, place it and re-plumb it. Wtf..... I previously wrote a much harsher review but took it down because I felt bad. This is my 3rd weekend in a row fixing the issues I paid them to do. Service level and quality is total crap. read more

We had a 25 year old pool and very large patio and walkway that was ready for a new look. After talking to many companies and even more customers we decided to go with C and R Pool Plastering for the entire job. Mike Wheaton listened to what we were looking for and provided a detailed quote that aligned with the project. He explained every detail of the process and was also the main contact for us during the entire project. We could not be happier with the results. We went from a standard white plaster finish to a turquoise micro fusion pebble tec finish, new tile, LED lights, over 2100 square feet on stamped concrete with a color included that Steven Wilson and crew did a wonderful job on. We added some new equipment and had excellent work along the way from the entire C and R team. Julio, the main tile professional was amazing and provided his expertise around multiple round edges and placed diamond shaped trim tiles around the steps and swim out ledges. Inside the office Heather provided excellent communications on the scheduling and was pleasant and professional. Diana, handled the billing process and was also so nice and a pleasure to deal with. The team showed up when they were supposed to and Mike dealt with issues like building out new steps in the spa that needed some extra attention. Outside of some uncontrollable rain and frost the project was on-time and there were no surprises. C and R Pool Plastering exceeded our expectations and Mike was the key to a successful project from start to finish. During the process my cement stairs crumbed and caved in and Dustin - I think? had to add / build the stairs up again and they replaced my plastic stairs too, that was an additional charge too but fair. We had a Pebble finish applied in 2017. Top to bottom, the project went terrific, from the team that prepped and installed to the Pebble product itself, it still looks great! A stain developed over the last few months and I called to see if C&R could help me figure it out. No problem was the answer (and this is 3 years from installation) heard from Audrey in the office. C and R did a re-plaster and re-tile on my pool. Terrible customer service. Never answer their phones. Their subcontractors left trash all over. After washing out their equipment they dumped it all over the shrubs in the front yard. They scheduled the plaster on a Monday. I took the day off to be there. They didn't show up. Upon multiple calls to their office I was informed that it was too windy. They were supposed to notify me of any changes in the schedule but never did. They just showed up whenever. My pool was built in 1994 and has (had) three pop ups in the bottom. It was my understanding they would replace them with like kind. The returns they put in do not go down flush with the bottom of the pool. Carl called me a liar that there were no pop ups in the bottom of the pool. I've maintained my pool for 8 years. I know there were pop ups in the bottom. Not only that, the day they were scheduled to finish the returns (May 30th), they didn't show up. Then they show up the following Friday unannounced! Didn't even know they were going to be there. To top it all off, they used bright, shiny screws to secure the covers where the pop ups were. The screws look awful on the bottom. There were spots on the deep end that I wanted to discuss. But since the guy came out on a day that wasn't scheduled with me, I missed him. When I finally reached Carl on the phone to discuss the spots his response was "It's only a pool." Carl is not professional and does not stand behind his work. I paid C & R almost $10,000 to redo my pool and I would expect better customer service and work. Carl accused me of "harassing" him when I would call. Plus he hung up on me twice and threatened me with his attorney. Funny how he has to have an attorney so readily available. Yes they were the lowest bid. I guess you get what you pay for. My recommendation....do not use C and R. Spend a little more and get a reliable, customer-oriented company....like Burketts. I wish I never used C and R." read more

Rick and his team did a great job with out pool and deck. We had a challenging situation with a free form pool that seems to have been built by a past "do it yourself, I almost seem to know what I'm doing, general contractor" homeowner . They were able to restore the pool, add to our deck and the price was reasonable. Our project did hit a couple snags, but Rick and his team came up with solutions. Our Pebble-tec pool turned out great. The tile looks great, and they were able to make our waterfall operational again. I am not a huge fan of sub contractors, this seemed to be were most of our bumps occurred. If any work is being performed by subcontractors, with this company or others, watch closely and carefully. I would recommend them to others getting their pool done. I might suggest they get a designer and make sure they check in with workers while they are their to avoid issues. We got other quotes to from a variety of companies that were well rated on sites including one that starts with an Angies and ends with a List. They all came out looks and gave us a price without really even digging into the full scope of the project. Rick was the only one that really looked at what would be needed. We ended up with slight overruns, but again this was mostly the subcontractor and due to the crazy construction of the pool. I am confident that a standard pool setup would not have had overruns. read more

He helped with the layout and worked tirelessly to make sure that everything was perfect. We had many delays - through no fault of C&R (mostly rain) but they trudged through it. All of the staff and contractors were timely, responsible and respectful. We can't give them enough stars for their amazing work. They transformed our pitiful backyard into a beautiful place to be. There were several delays because of the weather (not their fault), but their office manager Audrey was very communicative and kept me informed on where the job stood and their plans for getting it completed. We had our pool replastered and paid extra to have the tile bead blasted. They chipped a lot of the tile and got dark grey plaster on the white tile grout It looks worse now then before they started. They came back out to look at it and said there's nothing they can do. read more

We had our pool resurfaced by this company quite some time ago. We had problems with the plaster right away. The calcium showed up right after the pool was filled. They came out a supposedly fixed it. It got worse and worse. After reading some of these reviews, I realize we were not alone. Rick was about as rude as he could be and refused to make it right. Our pool looks horrible and we can not afford to have it redone by someone else. We just have to live with it. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Those who had a good outcome were lucky. Rick and Jim cane out multiple times trying different fixes - hot start, ( no change), scuba diver scrubbing spots( now bright blue spots) and nothing worked. Now they tell me it's just the way quartz plaster comes out and I should have gone with pebble tec . My pool and spa are different colors - still blotchy and looks like a 20 year old pool. Do not use this company. They also dumped extra plaster in open area behind our house. Luckily they were caught and forced to clean it up. So after doing further research of our own, finding no negative reviews on yelp or google searches as well as having an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau in business since 1992 would show that they clearly having longevity in successfully running and maintaining a stellar company... We'd like to share with you our experience with C and R Pool Plastering, Inc. so that you can decide on your own, if this is the type of company you would give a large sum of your hard-earned cash to... And before we start to dive in, my hard working husband and I would like take a moment to address that we are not writing this letter to purposefully be malicious, but to simply provide information that every word within this letter can be documented and backed-up with emails, photos, and voicemail recordings for, and to save others from having to encounter the same situations we found ourselves in with this company. This is so important to us that, we have forced ourselves to find the time, in our insanely busy and non-stop schedules, both my husband & I working over 50 hours per week, while also holding down the fort at our ever-going home of 4 with two young boys and 2 dogs, to write this letter. It is unfortunate, that we again have to exhaust even more of our time and energy on this company, but to save others the heartache we have been through is what has given us the fuel to follow through. In a nutshell here is how it went: 1. Terrible communication / lack of communication caused several conflicts with our schedules 2. Damaged our brand new cement surface with scratches and also took out a large chunk of our brand new concrete right at the curved edge into the pool at the center of the steps right where everyone sees and never fixed it 3. Several tiles they installed were chipped, cracked and/or broken 4. Laborers argued with my husband for having to come back out to fix the damaged tiles 5. Laborers damaged our pop up camper that was never repaired 6. We were told we would receive monetary compensation for all of the heartache and that all damages would be repaired - it has now been 7 months since we heard from this company with no reimbursement of any kind or any attempts to try to repair the damages they have done We have expended a lot of time and energy for this company. With the lack of communication with the appointments that impacted our schedules, not to mention all of the repair work that C and R had to do, that required them to keep coming back to our home day after day which just took additional days away from my husband's work and obligations. It truly has been a complete hassle, every step of the way with this company, and disheartening to know that most of the damages they have caused are at this point irreversible. Yet we have never received an apology, or a portion of our money back to compensate for all of the time, energy and emotional turmoil this process and their company have caused us. We made a conscious choice to pay top dollar for premium workmanship, from a premium company, and unfortunately we were the only ones in that scenario that followed through with our end of the bargain - we paid top dollar and got poor workmanship from a poorly ran company instead. Not to mention, the damage we will forever have to look at on our cement deck. We have saved for so many years to be able to tackle a project like this to provide a beautiful haven for our family and friends to enjoy, and it is disheartening that our hard earned money has created such a negative feeling towards this 'what should have been' a very beautiful and positive area of our home. In October 2015 we sent our written timeline of events to the owner as our written complaint and Mike (lead sales rep on our pool replastering) called my husband about a month later in November 2015 to address everything. Mike came back out to our property and did confirm that it was his men that damaged our pop-up camper. Mike stated that he'd find someone to repair the camper and he would also find a company who could appropriately repair our brand new cement that they had damaged. In addition, Mike specifically told my husband that they would cut us a check and have it in the mail before Christmas in the meantime to accommodate for all of the hardship. It is now JUNE 2016 and we received no check or any type of reimbursement from C & R Pool Plastering, no one has repaired anything, and we haven't even heard back from this company. Wow! Is this really a company you want to give your hard earned money to? Spread the word, so that others do not have to go through the heartache we did with all of the damaged items we now look at daily, only to remind us of this awful experience. read more

C&R did a wonderful job for us. When we moved in the pool was most of the backyard. There was no where to sit. What we wanted was a plunge pool that we could jump into to cool off and sit on a bench to relax in the water. The smaller pool would be easier to keep warm extending the season, easier to clean, less water.... We brought in Mike from C&R and shared our vision. He looked it over and provided guidance on changes to make things easer and less expensive. The selection of tiles and colors was amazing. At the same time we were putting in pavers for a sitting area. Rick coordinated with the paver contractor resulting in reduced costs and schedule for both the pool reconfiguration and the paver install. We are very happy with our new plunge pool. The dark bottom keeps it in the 80s during the hellish summer months here in Sacramento. It's small enough that we could heat it if we wanted. We even considered putting a dome over the plunge pool in the winter and making it a huge hot tub. At night we set the light to blue with stunning results. We found C&R to be professional, never leaving a mess even through they worked through the wettest winter in decades. They kept us informed so we were never guessing at when the next step would happen and what it was. We would use them again. read more

We just had our pool resurfaced by C&R last week and we are very happy with the results. We chose the Tiger's Eye Gemstone surface which came out really nice. We also added new tile and upgraded our pool equipment. C&R coordinated with the other contractors well and kept us informed when there were weather-related delays. Once they got to work, they were fast, efficient and professional. The crews were friendly and seemed to enjoy their work even though it was very hard work. From a cost perspective, they were pretty close to the other bids we received but I prefer to give my work to a local business when I can, so I chose C&R. From the beginning of our search for a pool resurfacing/repair company, from sales through completion, we have been very happy with C & R Pool Plastering. This company was initially recommended to us from a trusted contractor, so I didn't hesitate to contact them. Everyone we met at C & R was polite, respectful, on time and always responsive. Tammy, the office manager, bent over backwards to schedule our pool refurbish between rain storms and many other clients to satisfy and we really appreciate her attention and respect for our timeline. But even with all of that, the rain posed a problem and we had to be out of town for our vacation before the project was completed. Tammy worked with us to put the job on hold while we were gone and then finish when we returned. Everything was done as you would hope in the highest quality. The tile is a perfect match to our existing moss rock and flagstone, as recommended by Dave, the tile installer. The beautiful sandstone surface is a huge upgrade from the plaster we had.
