I ignored the 1 star reviews, here's why you shouldn't: Unless you are willing to double check every plant they plant, and clean up after them, find someone else. I trusted them with my hard earned money. It wasn't enough to motivate them to do a decent job. We spent thousand and got the laziest, most low effort job I've ever had done on anything in my house. Kevin seems to know what he's talking about, and is easy to work with. But when it came time for work to be done, all bets were off. Do not be fooled. Here's what happened. A couple of years ago we paid a lot of money to have a lot of plants planted and our watering system overhauled because we were having watering issues. Planting - many of the plants died because they were planted in unsuitable spots (spots they chose) and many plants have never really died but never grown or looked healthy. I finally decided to dig those ones up and I KID YOU NOT, many of them weren't even planted in the ground. They were planted in the mulch, sitting on top of the weed barrier (see picture). One had half the root ball just exposed. More than one plant was planted with the large plastic plant label in the ground blocking the roots. At the end, they said they couldn't bury the new drip lines because there wasn't enough mulch, so I went out and spent 45 minutes doing it no problem. They were so lazy that if they couldn't dump a bunch of new mulch to cover the lines, they weren't interested. Worst of all, they didn't even fix the irrigation system I needed them to fix. The Watering - A huge concern we had was the watering system since many plants were being over-watered and dying from rot. Once they finished their work I doubled checked with the foreman that the problem areas where fixed and he assured me they were. Guess what, they didn't even touch it! They just left the system I put in and all the plants died due to over watering. I have since found many more issues. Please be warned. Like I said, I trusted them with thousand of my hard earned money. Money that meant a lot to me. I guess it wasn't enough to get them to do a respectable job. EDIT - Kevin's response is typical and should worry customers. Its: 1. I'm so sorry you weren't more aggressive about being on top of our numerous mistakes. You expect some mistakes but when the errors are so incompetent (plugging in emitters backwards so they drown you plants) its absurd to put it on the customer to double check ALL work. 2. He clearly didn't read the review because that would have answered the questions he is asking. 3. I mention why it took me so long to respond. I mention the watering problem and that it had nothing to do with equipment failure. And I mention that the problem wasn't plants being planted for proper drainage, but rather not even planted in the soil. Literally on top of weed barrier and buried in mulch. 4. Finally, I didn't say I buried the irrigation in dirt, I was able to easily bury it in the mulch that his team said was too difficult. AND I did have him come back to replace plants that died immediately. He worked hard to convince to leave the sickly ones still in to give them more time. BE CAREFUL. Seems like he has a few teams and some are great. But his response to my complaints should concern everyone. He should have said, "I am so sorry we missed the mark here, can I call you to discuss?" We hired Kevin and his crew to resod our front and back yards mainly and kept them coming back on a weekly basis for maintenance. Grass died during the resod and they had to do it twice, no big deal. My main issue with these guys is that I've been paying a landscaping company for about half a year to keep my greenery looking nice, and it looks like crap. Bushes haven't been trimmed, water lines get nicked (ultimately killing one of my trees), and sometimes they just don't show up. No communication. I called Kevin to air my concerns and give him one final chance to set things right. We set up a time today for him to come by my place and see it in person. Didn't show up. No communication. I called and it went to voicemail, so I left one and haven't heard back. It seems that other people have had better experiences but mine was horrendous. read more

I want to thank Olympus Pointe Landscape on our beautiful backyard. We decided to get a pool installed so knew we were going to need the entire yard landscaped. We brought Kevin in at the very beginning of the project to tie in with the pool team to ensure all drainage needs were up to city code. His design plans were absolutely on-point and we trust his expertise and knowledge when it comes to plant choices. His team also came up with a retaining wall to solve our elevation issues. I can't say enough good stuff about Olympus Pointe Landscaping and the work they did at our new home (new constructions off of Blue Oaks in Roseville). We had a multi-stage job involving patio concrete, dog run area and then after a pool was installed he returned to complete full landscaping and irritation for both our front and back yard. Pictures are attached. I'm notoriously hard to earn "5 star" reviews on, because I always think there are ways people can improve, and I also think the way the internet reviews work - it often feels like you're obligated to give 5 stars... this is NOT the case here. Kevin and his team earned every bit of these 5 stars, and I'd wholeheartedly refer him to anyone who needed work done. I'll lead off by saying I first met Kevin when we had him out to bid some repair work a previous contract ruined at our home. Unfortunately at the time Kevin had several high priority jobs and wasn't able to help - but his customer service really caught my attention and I filed his contact information away. 2 years later when we moved, he was the first person I called and I'm so glad I did. He remembered who I was, prioritized getting together again to bid the work, and got after it. If you want someone whos going to truly partner with you, and help you figure out the best way to create your "area" - Kevin is that guy. He's got a great balance of function and art in the way he approaches building his projects. The biggest struggle we had with previous landscaping bids was that there are a lot of people who will do the work - but not a lot that will help you figure out the "design" aspects. Kevin was INCREDIBLE in this regard. He was constantly patient, helped us weigh our decisions, gave us practical feedback on ideas, offered tweaks - but also took direction when there was specific things we wanted. The end result is feeling like our backyard is beautiful and unique, but also very functional for our family. I have so much pride in our backyard, and theres this corny feeling that I know i'll always think fondly of Kevin and his team because as my kids grow up (8 and 6) they'll keep enjoying the space we created for them in the backyard. Functionally - Kevin brought a lot of diversity into our backyard. Hard rock intelligently used to separate the pool area from the softer landscape areas. Specific bark used for longevity. Trees selected with specific goals of creating privacy. Plants placed for balancing in the area. All of this on top of managing irritation effectively. It was a large project - and nothing felt "overdone". It came out just feeling... perfect. Work wise - his crew was extremely polite and kind. They worked quickly each time. Each one of our project sections was roughly 5 days, which is incredible given the amount of work they were accomplishing each time. They checked in often, kept in contact, cleaned up after themselves - and I always trusted that they were going to get the job done. The final thing I'll say is that its hard to find people who you feel like care about every job they work on. Kevin is the definition of that kind of person. Olympus Pointe Landscape did a fantastic job on my yard, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!!! I asked Kevin at Olympus Pointe to provide a bid for a new flagstone path, patio and wall, low voltage path lighting and up-lights, new irrigation and plants in a few areas, new DG path, and bark. Kevin got back to me right away, and had great ideas on what plants would work best in certain areas given the sun/shade and soil. He also listened to what I had to say, and provided honest feedback and great ideas that I hadn't thought of before. His bid was thorough, clear and fair. Man, what can I not say about these guys. For starters, Kevin was the most responsive and most interested out of any of the quotes I received. Our yard was destroyed, and honestly I didn't even realize it was THAT bad until after these guy's brought it back to life. Now I'm wondering why tf it took me so long to hire these guys. They arrived on Monday with a stacked crew, gutted the entire thing and prepped it all within the first day. Altogether we added an entirely new walkway, turf, and Lava rock with a drip line under all of the rock. The entire project took them FOUR DAYS to complete (5 if you include the one day off to let the concrete dry) which is crazy considering how good of a job they did. I can't say enough good things about Kevin, Alex, and the entire crew. They're a strong crew, who worked relentlessly and were a joy to talk to. Olympus Pointe Landscape did a phenomenal job redoing our front yard landscaping as well as pouring concrete to extend our driveway a bit and create an area for our garbage cans in the side yard this past summer. While we love everything about the new front yard, we absolutely LOVE the concrete steps! We recently completed a very involved full front/back yard landscape and hard scape remodel at our new home in Granite Bay and the result is spectacular. We are absolutely ecstatic and loving it every day. And we owe this to Kevin Massey and the Olympus pointe landscape team. I asked Kevin to help me create a Michelangelo masterpiece, and he did. First, I am a very particular client that expects great expertise and service, particularly in the area of proactive communication. I interviewed 4 contractors for this job and most of them are flakes that do not get back to you on time. Kevin stood out leaps and bounds above the other contractors. He first came to see me only one day after my inquiry call. I liked him immediately. He is very gregarious and passionate about landscape design and execution. He is a great communicator that always stayed in touch and returned my calls and text very quickly. He also gets personally involved in the design to help with ideas to improve the project. It took me three months to decide on the final design elements and he was patient with me the entire time. He started on time and finished on time, even with my multiple change orders. And when my change orders exceeded my budget, he helped me with some good value engineering to keep the cost down. And the Olympus pointe success story does not end with Kevin- he has assembled an awesome team that backs up his commitments. My project leader was Martin Suarez and he was simply outstanding. A super hard worker that got in there and worked with his crew. He also had great ideas to improve the project. And he had great attention to detail without reminders from me. Several months back we hired Olympus Pointe to renovate parts of our backyard that had fallen into deep disrepair during the drought and to put in new hardscape. I needed a new 30 foot walkway, a paver stone fire pit, mow strips and new sod and reconfiguration of the sprinkler system. I called in all 5 different landscape companies and only two ever came out, one of which was Olympus Pointe. When Kevin came to estimate my project we instantly clicked and he knew exactly what I was going for. Not the least of which was that I wanted them to do the hardscape and "infrastructure" while I would take on the new planting areas the renovation would create. Their bid came the next day, and in the end ended up being several thousands of dollars less than the other company who eventually came out. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with this company. We had first hired them for installation of new grass and then used them for weekly yard landscaping. Kevin and Jose are extremely nice and very responsive to messages and concerns so hence the 2 stars. But regretfully their employees need a lot more supervision. On the first day of yard maintenance they flaked. I had to call Kevin and tell them they did not show up. They constantly would reschedule after they skipped their scheduled day. And reschedule after I told them they didn't show up! They have severed so many drip lines due to them being fast and just wanting to mow and blow type service. They cut through at least 8-10 lines and won't fix it until you find it. We severed ties with them and we are still fixing everything they broke. They mowed the lawn and would leave dumps of grass on top, making it look like a Mohawk ! The final straw was when Kevin thought my expectations were too high yet his counterpart tells me I had every right to be upset and disappointed by their lack of attention to basic job duties you would expect. His prices are too high to pay for sloppy work. Again, they are super friendly and it tears me up to right this review but they need to go back to basics with training and supervision!!!!! My wife and I are very happy with this Company. Although we only have weekly service, Kevin came by initially with advice on several issues on hand and gave us a competitive monthly estimate. His experienced crew takes care of our lawn including fertilizer, trimming plants and pruning trees. They will occasionally ask us how we want things done when options are prevalent. They leave our yards spotless each time and now our yard looks like the front page of a gardening magazine. I have recommended some neighbors for weekly service and one for a $40,000 Landscaping and retaining wall job and they are all pleased. I did not have a good experience with OPL and hope no one will have to go through what I went through - Kevin came out to my house, provided a reasonable estimate comparative to my other estimates. Knowing that Kevin agreed to the scope to what OPL would do and what I would, I felt content to what will transpire with my backyard project. To my surprise, I assumed that Kevin would manage the project to ensure that the quality, scope of work was completed and to my satisfaction. Not the case.... lesson learned! The OPL business model is that Kevin would get the sale, then turn the project over to one of his managers to complete shifting accountability and responsibility to the manager and his/her crew. An example: The crew wanted to return to my house, after the sod was installed to complete the installation of a wall in the back of the house, needing to cross through the new sod to complete the task. I asked how they would do this. They said oh we just walk through and we will be careful. Well - (there is a reason why people say to never walk on a freshly laid sod for at least three weeks) - I was upset to the fact that the manager and crew did not provide me with assurance that the sod would be protected. I called Kevin to escalate, he reluctantly agreed to come back to my house (with an attitude and disappointment) to meet with me and the manager. I insisted that they procure plywood and lay them horizontally to protect the sod. They agreed after after I asked, which they should have proactively pointed out in the first place. There were more incidents like this example. To my disappointment, Kevin never once reached out to me to check in with me daily or even after the project was completed, never contacted me to see if I was satisfied with the work that was performed. The OPL business model is Kevin would get the sale then hand it off to a crew with timelines and financial expectations to meet his margins. Maybe my small backyard 10K project was not big enough for his attention. The quality of work performed at my house was way below standard, I ended up pointing out the quality of work to Kevin and the manager. To my disappointment, I ended up cleaning up and repairing some of the quality work issues. I had to take two days off from work to oversee the quality of work issue and consistently worked over them to correct the issues and needing to point issues out to them. If I had not taken the days off from work, the project would have gone in a different direction. I lost sleep while they were working at my house and wanted nothing more than for them to leave the site. I was so relived to hand them the final check and see them leave. I finally slept good that night knowing they will never return. I hope no one has to go through what I went through as I certainly would not recommend OPL to any of my family or friends. read more

They're dependable and prompt and know how to take care of a landscape. They don't need to be told what to do. I requested quotes from several landscaping companies. Brandi who works in the office was great and they got me an appointment very quickly and around my work schedule. When I met with Kevin, I knew his approach was very different. He spent time asking questions and really getting to know my vision. He made recommendations and when he left I was excited to see what he came up with. His quote was also very different than other landscapers. He actually gives you a complete breakdown, list and photos of plants with placements of where they were going to be in your yard. He picked so many great plants that I wouldn't have known to pick myself but they are all beautiful and every day more are blooming. He picked plants that would looked great year round. Another landscaper just gave me a "Budget" for how much I could spend of plants and I guess I'd just figure out what plants I wanted. Kevin came up with a great plan that was exactly what I asked for. Martin and crew were very nice and worked so hard. They turned my weed garden into a great backyard in just 4 days. We've been using Olympus Pointe since at least 2013. During that time we've been delighted with Kevin and his crew. If we have a project Kevin will meet with us and suggest a plan of action. Major projects have been installation of a subterranean irrigation system for the front lawn and converting the back lawn to flagstone with appropriate ground cover between the stones and a Japanese maple in a large pot. There have been countless repair needs where his crew has been called upon to replace trellises, plants, and portions of the drainage and irrigation systems. Olympus Pointe also provides weekly visits to keep the place in good order. The current on-site supervisor - Israel - takes the initiative in identifying things needing his attention. A couple of years ago we had Olympus Pointe completely redo our our back yard landscaping. They did a great job and I left a review reflecting our satisfaction with their work. Recently one of our water valves went out (not one that they had installed) and I called Olympus Pointe to see if they could change it out for me. Even though it was a very minor repair Kevin was out to quickly inspect the valve and had then one of his crews out on a Saturday to make the necessary repair. The initial clean up went good .Unfortunately when it came to the first maintenance day they didn't make it the first scheduled appt , no show no call. Then on the following scheduled week they did show up, Kevin was supposed to be with them to show them what to do because we were so particular about our request, but he didn't make it and he FaceTimed with his crew who completely botched the job. Now our beautiful boxwoods that have been growing for seven years together that we told him we wanted them to remain a hedge and be lightly and naturally trimmed now look like individual bushes have huge holes ,sharp edges and look nothing like the beautiful plants we waited for so long to grow . We were devastated to see that he did the complete opposite of what we asked, then on top of that the next time they came they trimmed the bushes again and made them even worse. If you have expensive bushes and nice landscape I wouldn't recommend. I couldn't bear to have them here another week to see what would happen. I did cancel him on short notice and was hoping for a prorated rate for that month we weren't going to be using him .However he responded and unknowingly thought his crew came and did work one of the days during the month which they didn't and he told me to read my contract and that I was supposed to give 30 days notice . Lesson learned, he can keep the money and now I can pay another landscaper to hopefully revive my woody holey,formally beautiful now ugly bushes. If they do eventually grow back it will be years which is devastating........ read more
