Worst experience with a landscaper or contractor I've every had! The designer, David, was professional, attentive, and said all the right things; however, when the problems started, he no longer wanted to be involved. Andrew Rogers, the owner, was extremely difficult to work with. He was dismissive and unresponsive. In hindsight, I should have walked away from this company when Andrew made a big point of the fact that he does not come on site during the project. I questioned how his crew would know what to do. He assured me that he communicated with his crew every morning, and it would all be fine. Andrew does not communicate well with his crew. The errors began on Day 1 and continued throughout the project. On Day 1, I watched the crew start ripping up my existing mulch and weed fabric (the plan was to leave it). Then I watched them start putting back the now ripped up fabric. The crew told me they had made a mistake... My husband went out to look at the French Drain they were suppose to be installing. He questioned the crew because it didn't look like a French Drain to him. They said "Oh no. French Drains cost a lot. This isn't a French Drain." Well; thank goodness my husband noticed because they would have covered it with dirt, and we would have never known they had not installed the proper drain! We were paying $2400 for that French Drain. So they had to redo that. We were texting Andrew telling him that we were becoming alarmed because his workers did not seem to know what to do. Andrew was not answering my texts with my concerns, so I had my husband start texting him. Andrew would reply to my husband's texts, but not mine, even though I was the one who hired him, signed the contract and was going to pay him. I suspect he does not respect women. The design called for the continuation of an existing creek bed which Andrew said he could match, and the addition of some sod. When the rocks were delivered and did not match, he put the blame on us for not selecting the correct size rocks. We had hoped the "professional" landscaper would be able to match the rocks, and not put the burden on us. Thank goodness we were home throughout the project because the creek bed was not according to the design, and had to be redone multiple times. When we asked where the additional sod was, the crew said they didn't know anything about that. We were begging Andrew to come on site to guide his workers, since his crew was doing so many things wrong. On the 2nd to last day, Andrew finally came over to our property, only because we were so upset. Due to all the mistakes and redos, the project took longer, and on the last day the crew were rushing to leave. My husband went out to test the drips as they were leaving, and there was a huge leak. The crew left without putting drips on several plants, and we only noticed when plants started dying in a few days. We had to call them back because they never flushed the drip line and all the emitters became clogged and the plants were not being watered. We have asked Andrew to help us with the stretch of dying sod which they installed, and Andrew has ghosted us. Andrew sent us the final invoice on the last day. When I questioned the plant count and gallon sizes, he responded by sending me a new invoice with an additional $1200 of new charges he made up after the final invoice; I guess because he was mad I questioned the plant count? When I told him that overcharging is actually illegal, and we might need to contact the State Licensing Board, he quickly removed the charges. Although our project cost over $10,000 we wonder if maybe Rogers Landscaping does not want to bother with smaller landscaping projects. The crew he sent was not equipped to follow an intricate design. Andrew's communication with us, and with his crew was horrible. He does not own up to his company's mistakes. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Andrew and the entire Rogers Landscape team. We found them through Yardzen and couldn't be happier. They were professional and responsive from day 1 and worked through the changes we made to the yardzen Landscaping plan. They also recommended changes that were better suited to our area. They did full yard demo, including removal of a huge mulberry stump, fencing, irrigation, sod, planting. They started on time every day and left the work site clean at the end of the day. I waited to post after the Sacramento summer - happy to say everything they planted survived and is thriving with new growth. These guys start out with a bang, and they have a real nice web site, Dave the estimator is very good with planning and carrying through with estimates. After the start, things fizzled, with a 3-5 day project dragging into three weeks, granted there was some rain, but when there was no rain, day after day no workers arrived. In the end, the sod covered sprinkler heads, the wrong drip heads were installed and the steel border was not inserted properly leaving sharp corners out. All of this was reported to Andrew and I got no response. The address listed on their site on Stanford Ranch road doesn't seem to exist. I found them very frustrating to deal with, I would not use this group again. read more

Long Read: I began the task of researching landscapers in the Rocklin area about six months prior to closing escrow on a house in a new development. Out of all the landscape design groups, to whom I had placed inquiry, Rogers Landscape stood out and was my number one candidate. I was extremely happy with Andrew Rogers response time to all my pre-close of escrow and pre-move in date questions and his continued response, support and personal interest and attention to my backyard landscape project before, during and even long after payment was received. The front yard was landscaped by the builder in the community in which I chose to live, but the 5000 square feet of backyard was untouched. The backyard was a nightmare consisting of nothing more than weed, rock and silt. (My three Siberian Husky could not play on the backyard rubble without hurting their foot pads/paws). My roommate (AKA 91-year-old Dad) wanted the landscape in place sooner than later and before the winter rains. The company's thorough understanding of flora and fauna and the HOA regulations regarding yard design in my area helped immensely, when last minute, to meet the HOA landscape approval meeting, Rogers Landscape delivered the garden design to me. Rogers Landscape, both owner and crew, became a mediator of sort that blended two opposing landscape themes into a mixture of simplicity utilizing dog friendly artificial turf, shrubs, plants, trees, and tanbark to please the eye. The specie of shrubs, plants and trees chosen, created a perfect palette of color for year-round enjoyment. The color combinations of flowering purples, pinks, reds, whites, and yellows and varying shades of green colored stems and leaves continue to be spectacular. The aroma in the yard from fragrant plants like a bay laurel tree, rosemary, lavender, scotch broom, gardenia, etcetera is heavenly especially when the breeze picks up and the branches of the plants tickle each other. I could not ask for a better landscape design. Rogers Landscape "hit it on the nail" with flora and fauna to transform the once barren backyard into a lush and fragrant oasis. Looking back at the landscape project spanning 21 days as promised, my father and I were probably more than taxing on the owner and crew with our constant interruptions and need for complete control over the work being done. We even switched thought processes in the middle of the project with regards to the 900 square feet of artificial turf. No matter how far and often we pushed the envelope, Rogers Landscape was patient, tolerant, respectful, accommodating, and professional about everything. Nothing seemed to phase the company; everything was taking in stride. All the landscaping changes made to the garden during the timeline were met with polite suggestions and thoughts but ultimately, we had the final decision on everything. We loved when we first met one of the contractors how responsive they were. They were able to give us a proposal and pricing in half the time they normally take to help accommodate us for getting screwed over by another landscaper. My husband wasn't excited about the price but we wanted it done so we went with it. The job was completed in half the time they said it would which was a huge plus. The end product and what we paid for, did not go hand and hand. Our grass started dying within 2 days of it being rolled, the contract I signed said we were getting mulch in our planter beds and there was none, and the cement was not even. I messaged the owner of my concerns, he said he would be by to adjust the sprinklers, never came, so I contacted him again, and finally his workers came by and readjusted the sprinklers and the timing. We went out of town for 3 days and the grass looked significantly worse. I again explained my frustrations to the owner and in response he sent me a video from YouTube on how to adjust the sprinklers after I had asked him to come and look at himself. I reiterated I would like him to come and look at it and have not heard back from him since. I truly was so excited about this company because of all of the effort they put in at first but there was no follow through in the end and the price for the work they did was very much overly priced. read more
