My wife and I was looking to narrow down a great landscaping team that could take on a three area project for our new place. We inquired with CaliGreen landscaping through Yelp and John immediately responded back within 30 minutes to have our first initial conversation over the phone and then to set up an in person the next day. He was extremely professional in person and understood what direction we wanted to take along detailing what services he could provide for what we're looking to do. After moving to a new house, we've received a lot of business cards or door to door salesmen for landscaping projects. The ones we entertained seemed more interested in profiting off of our new project with ridiculously high prices that was just way too out of our price range. I found CaliGreen on Yelp after finally feeling prepared to tackle the backyard (especially with all the overgrown weeds that we had growing). I was able to meet John, and he was very straightforward and understanding with all of our concerns. Whether it be our budget, or the plans we made, or whether it was even talking about potentially dividing up the project if the cost was just too much all at once (they also offer financing if needed). He had this sort of transparency that made CaliGreen the perfect choice. We ended up getting the whole backyard done, and the timeline was nothing short of epic. We were initially quoted for the project timeline to be 2 months, but in actuality, it took them 3 weeks (with 1 week just being for the concrete to cure). The team always showed up on time, and were very hard workers. I appreciated all of their work especially considering temperatures were well around 90 most of the days they were here. The backyard is perfect. No further maintenance needed (for now). We mainly got the backyard done because we have a dog, and foxtails were starting to grow in, but now our dog is free to roam around in the backyard with no issues at all. I reached out to Caligreen Landscaping because of their reputation I discovered doing research on the internet. I called to schedule someone to come out to my house to look at our project and give us an estimate. I received a text indicating that their installation typically starts around $8000 and they are 2-3 weeks out and asked if that was okay. I responded back by text summarizing our project and gave them my phone number to contact me. They text me back asking what part of town I lived in and if I knew the square footage of the grass. My husband measured so I text back what he calculated. The person text me back a price of $22,000 and explained the price includes material and labor, excavation and new installation. This was an immediate turn off. It turns out my husband measured incorrectly and the square footage was only 2380 instead of 4000. So, I text back the new measurement. A new price was text to me of $14,500. This company didn't want to come out and was price conditioning me. I ended up going with a company that has been in the business for 40 years and they quoted me $3000 less. Jeez....... read more

My wife and I had a massive landscape project in our backyard that we wanted to undertake for years. We went through the planning and design process ourselves, and received In-Person consultations from over 10 landscaping companies. Unfortunately, many of the landscaping companies did not provide us quotes, or took more than a month to offer us a quote. If you had seen what my backyard looked like before, you would've been shocked with the end result. It was basically a forest that was completely unusable. John came out promptly and gave me a quote and walked me through our plans. He was very knowledgeable and had great ideas since we were completely unsure of what to do. One thing I really appreciated that he repeated the plans multiple times throughout the meeting just so he made sure I was still on board with the plans. Caligreen's quote was very competitive but what I appreciated most was that John and I went back and forth over text for a few weeks before I actually made my decision. I wanted to pick his brain and see what else we could add to the project. He really stuck with me and when I was ready to go forward, we were all on the same page. I had to get my backyard cleared prior to them starting since I had several tall trees and lots of brush. It was a small expense to clear the backyard but allowed them to have a clean slate when they started. This project only took about 10 days and the team was here every morning at 7:30 to get going. These guys work so hard! I did need to make an addition as we wanted a few light poles which they were able to quote out quickly and get them installed during the project. Scheduled an estimate quickly. Came out and after talking the job over, an estimate was provided later that day. This was to replace 2 yards, one normal size front main yard and a smaller plot shared with a neighbor. Estimate was for $5000: completely tear out old yards, replace with rocks, brick border, path walkway with stepping stones around the front house, 8 plants, and re-pathing my existing drip system to those plants. Anyway they did a fantastic job as you see in the attached photos. This only took 3 days and went without a hitch. Mark is available via text consistently and open to answering questions you might have. One thing I particularly appreciated was the suggestions provided. I knew overall I wanted my yard replaced with something no maintenance, like rocks, but mark provided a handful of suggestions via text before the estimate. And you can trust you'll end up with something nice even if you don't have an idea yourself. So results are great, quick, easy, and everything I hoped for. I've got a huge job coming up for my backyard and I'd happily hire again One thing I have to mention. There was slight confusion initially on whether I wanted the plot of land my neighbor and I share completely done, or only my half. Mark thought I wanted just the half, but i noticed and asked the 2nd day he agreed to finish for an additional $550. I don't mind the additional cost, but we could've avoided the confusion by doing a full walkthrough on the first morning of work. So that's an easy additional step they could add. We bought a new home in Lincoln, CA recently. This area has one of the most rocky soils I have ever seen. I was worried how can we have a nice backyard built on such a soil. This was after I requested a second trip to our home.
