From start to finish the backyard project took over a year to finish. Our backyard project was not big. This was an extremely stressful process as we had to check up on the work throughout; at points we went months without any work being done and David always had an excuse. Admittedly, we didn't have all the final decisions made prior to the start and things were fluid at times but there was always work that could have been done which didn't happen unless we pushed. With the amount we paid we thought the owner would have been more helpful with design but were left to do research and find/look at materials ourselves. We had to withhold payments because work wasn't being done despite being pestered and payments demanded from the owner. Numerous times we had to have conversations regarding progressive payments being demanded by the owner despite lack of work being performed. The only thing that motivated the owner to get back to work was us withholding payment. The owner clearly had too many projects and not enough workers resulting in the customer suffering which we heard from one of the workers was an issue with his other jobs too. We had a large landscaping company come out while we had one of the long breaks in work and pointed out many issues and stated they would've completed the job in 3 weeks. It was exhausting and stressful to have to inspect every aspect of the job and find subpar work being performed/corners being cut. An issue we still have is drainage, which we questioned the owner about prior to finishing the project but were assured it wouldn't be an issue. We trusted him but again learned the hard way not to. We are going to have to hire another company to fix the lake that arrives in the middle of our backyard when a large rain occurs. Our project was expensive and his bid was on the high side compared with others so needless to say we expected much better.

We appreciated David's collaborative approach to tackling what could have been an overwhelming project for us: removing existing vegetation and hardscape; installing irrigation and drainage, driveway and courtyard pavers, large moss rocks, and a dry riverbed; constructing terraced cultured stone retaining walls and a stone staircase; amending and tilling soil; and planting low water native plants. David managed the project in stages, allowing us the flexibility to make decisions about design, materials, and vegetation as the landscaping evolved. Experienced in outdoor design as well as hard and soft scaping, David provided tailored options for construction materials and zone-appropriate vegetation. He did much of the work himself and was a stickler for details such as the placement and patterning of pavers. When his crew (who were professional and hard-working) were on site, he came out often to check on work quality and progress. David ensured we were all on the same page by listening closely to our ideas, setting clear expectations in written estimates, and promptly responding to our questions and concerns. Even after completing the project, he followed up on unexpected issues including applying protective coating to the retaining walls to address leeching and replacing struggling plants. I really didn't know what I wanted in the beginning but just wanted our front yard cleaned up, but the more I looked at our yard I knew I wanted something clean and different with grass. I asked Victor what he was able to do and he pretty much said he can do it all and he did not come up short! He provided me a very reasonable quote to redo the front yard and back. He provided some ideas, but ultimately did what was asked and made it beautiful. He did not deviate from his quote when added material was needed or changes had to be made which made it that much more to appreciate the work done! He and his crew worked very hard, and finished the job in a timely manner despite some raining days. Things he completed: -Removed all plants, bushes, roots. -Removed all rocks top soil and mulch -Dug out a path for the stairs -Cement for the stairs and added curbing to the front and backyard -Completed and added sprinkles and drip system to front and backyard - added new top soil and sod to the front and backyard -removed and hauled away all old material. I am more then pleased the way our yard looks and definitely would recommend him for any job! Worst contractor ever. They started the job on April 27 and finished first week in June they said 2…read moreweeks to complete job . After the first 2 weeks they started another job and were going days at a time not showing up. Also paid 20% up front then the rest when completed but asked for money twice before finished . When they took out my trees they did not take out all of the roots in the ground and did nothing to the dirt to kill weeds etc before putting the cheapest weed barrier down that after 2 weeks were coming through everywhere (see attached pics) . They subbed out concrete work which looked pretty good which was stamped and colored . When concrete was done there were a couple chips and bare patches of color that the landscapers patched with no color ( see photo). Also lost 30 % of plants died which most of them I replaced myself they replaced some of them but took over a month to do. The reason most of them died is because the drip line either wasn't to the plant or non existent to the plant and when they came back to replace the plants they moved rock out of the way to put a better weed barrier down for an hour a day for 1 or 2 days and told me they would fix it all but never came back to finish all of it. There are many things they did not finish that I let go and did myself but the main issue with the weeds I wanted corrected was all I asked for and they couldn't even do that . Look the guys were great and I trusted them at my home and the design we came up with looks great but the quality and follow through of the work was not great at all. Update All my new drip lines are leaking and most plants have died and I have more weeds than the grass that was removed. Also now that rain has came it is flooding everywhere as they took at all my drains in my front and back yard and never replaced pretty awesome waste of money

One specific issue I wanted to note below: Here is what the contract said: "Fix and move existing irrigation in the backyard to new shape of lawn." When they put in new irrigation, they chose to bury an old sprinkler. The old sprinkler is now leaking. Why didn't they just FIX AND MOVE the old sprinkler like the contract said? Owner danced around this question, and they won't repair it. Now I will have to pay a new company to repair it. There were some other questionable events, but I will be respectful and not go into them. I DO NOT recommend using Shear Perfection Landscape.

Chad was friendly, professional, had exceptional working knowledge, explained things perfectly, and listened to my goals (so important!). He immediately understood what I wanted to do with both yards, offering wonderful suggestions based on his years of experience. The quote I received was great, covering everything Chad and I had discussed. They were able to get me on their schedule right away. The team that came out and performed the work (Romeo, Luke, Roberto and Caesar) were exceptional. Always friendly, professional, willing to answer my many questions (lol!), and their work product was perfect. Andrea was a fantastic Admin. She kept all the paperwork and communication flowing, and was a wonderful resource when I had questions. Chad was great - onsite and present often, providing information and ensuring that I was happy with the progress. The project included: demoing the bark, patio and existing fountain; removing plants; replacing old drip and lighting lines; replacing irrigation valves and solenoids; finishing all beds with lava rock; pouring approx (1000) sq ft of concrete - 2 color stamped pattern; installing a header board along a property line; and building a mini retaining wall along the sidewalk. They cleaned up everything when they were finished, it was spotless. The work done was exactly as we discussed and I am so pleased. The good: Punctual Finished before deadline Nice concrete work The bad: Quoted one price, made promises about what we'd get, John sprung additional "over budget" costs at the end, despite the fact we discussed these items when we got our initial bid. Sneaky. Damaged my stucco in several areas; had to keep calling for them to repair. Repair is not even complete. Never heard from them again. Plants are spaced wonky ..... for example 2 flower bushes are close together and the third is another foot away, looks silly. Shade tree placed in yard is not centered on the hole that was dug, so the border looks crooked. drives me crazy!! Gate does not match fencing and it looks like crap. No really, it looks bad. Why have a non matching gate?! The gate is dog ear fencing and the rest of the fence is wire with framing. Space under gate was filled with random extra bricks instead of a kick board. Again, looks bad and lazy. They quoted us for 24x24 stepping stones only to get cheap ugly 12x12 stones. Also, at least 6 of our plants have died in the year since they landscaped. BOO!
