I got a few quotes from Yelp and Jose from Tellez Landscaping came out to give us an estimate. Of all the landscaping companies I spoke to, Jose at Tellez was by far the most professional and knowledgeable. His approach was chill, not pushy at all and very generous with his time. He met me at a nearby nursery to look at some trees that we were thinking of planting - this is even before I committed to have them do the job. I really appreciated that. Jose really knows his stuff. He has a wide range of knowledge about plants and trees, how to care for them, construction etc. He told me they could complete the job in a week or so, and they were able to meet their deadline. Communicating with Jose was quick and easy. We texted back and forth without any delays in-between. He was quick to reply and answer any questions. He sent me 3-D pictures of what the job would look like before they started the work so I could decide where I wanted concrete, trees, grass etc. They took payment in installments as the project progressed. I have a couple regrets but both are things that were within my control and I could have avoided with more effort on my part - not Jose's fault. I'm not really happy with the quality and color of the artificial grass that was installed. I should have insisted on seeing the actual grass before it was installed. But since I wasn't living in the area, I settled on seeing it in a picture which isn't the same thing as seeing it in person. Also, I don't love the color or pattern of the flagstone that was laid. Again, I should have insisted on seeing more detail on the type of flagstone and how it would be laid out. My bad. Live and learn. It was an expensive venture, but they did a TON of work. They worked very hard to make the deadline and they did an excellent job. Very little to complain about, and for those reasons I would recommend them for landscaping in the area. We asked Jose and his crew to come back periodically for yard maintenance so we're happy to continue to work with them. I'll update my review in the future, and as the trees and plants mature, I'll add some pictures.

Jose set up an appointment to come take a look at our backyard. He took photos, measured, & went over some ideas with us. A few days later he got back to us with a quote and some rendered photos of what our backyard could look like. Looking at the photos we were sold on moving forward with the landscaping. Our backyard at the time looked like it was right out of the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland. They completely gutted the back yard, laid an all new sprinkler/ drip system, sod, a designer wall with raised flower bed, and even fixed our daughters bridge and painted it red. We were so happy with there work we even added on a good neighbor fence and 2 gates. If your looking for landscaping work look no farther and give Tellez Landscaping a call!

Well, I paid him the $1000 (cashed on Nov 29th). Checked with Placer County Property Records and there has been no request submitted to lift the lien. So he lied to me and he lied to CSLB. Talk about digging yourself a hole. Will be fun to present this to a judge. I will of course have to subpoena the CSLB agent and put together a presentation on why everything he said and did regarding the outdoor kitchen area was wrong. Nothing new, done it before. I'll post again after trial but I won't settle for the normal small claims judge so it will take several months to get a date.
