Extraordinary place...especially now that restaurants are serving more stupid tweezer food and upping pricing. But Pezcow's menu is so good and affordable! To start with the option of having fresh pork rinds with super fresh Guac was unique. To a low carb person (me) it's a blessing. Then the Molcajete Mariscos at $34 is not only a show, it's a seafood extravaganza. Not to be missed. I had the Octopus Tostada, so fresh and generous, I'm still thinking about it. Our friends enjoyed Chicken Mole Enchiladas and said it was the best mole they have ever had. Pezcow feels like a family restaurant with service to match. Friendly and warm. What a tasty restaurant we found in little town of Windsor, who would of know we had this great restaurant. Second time coming here and feels like the first time. Menu gets changed every Sunday which they serve Brunch from 10 to 2pm the flavors are authentic Mexican home made cuisine and and it family owed business. Best part is the Cafe de Hoya(coffee from the Pot) has a unique México taste to it, savoring this coffee I feel like I'm in Mexico with the familia. On the menu there's always menudo and Birria and then they switch up the other casuelas this time was Chile rojo with papas, scrambled eggs in a red sauce, rajas en crema, Nopalitos and dios de Arros and let tell you we also got fresh home made tortillas. Desert was Mexican Pan, fresh fruit and the traditional cenas and yes my friends you need to check this place out. Just can't say enough good things about this restaurant and yes it does get busy but it's with the wait. I was served a lovely dish of thick, brown, rich mole, generously poured atop, and all around an old piece of smelly, dryish, rancid chicken. Perhaps more of that mole would have helped disguise the taste...it certainly looked like they tried. I think I got ALL their mole on that piece of chicken. The dry deboned chicken had a few surprises for the unsuspecting diner: bone and gristle! Ordered a side salad too, and just sayin: those who love their lemon juice straight off tree and squeezed directly into mouth will enjoy the salad dressing. Shoulda made some lemonade outta that lemon dressing. The chef had to have known the chicken died some time in the 90s and shoulda been thrown out, but I must have looked like someone willing to be open to an unusual dining experience.One would have expected an appropriate amount of regret from the Chef, once chef was made aware of the situation. And that is where the positive ends. The food was....gross. The rice had a weird fishy taste to it, the burrito was poorly wrapped and fell apart after my kid took one bite. They only had pinto beans which were lacking flavor. There isn't a kids menu so we had to order a small burrito for my little and that was a bad experience too. We ordered fajitas and the chicken was seasoned as if it were teriyaki and the beef was chewy and overcooked, then cut improperly so it was hard to eat. My wife and I have been dining here since they opened. The service can be a little slow, but it's well worth the wait. This is not your standard burrito and enchilada Mexican restaurant. If you want that, you can go to hundreds of other places in Sonoma County (although I did notice Pezcow added these items recently and I'm sure they are way better than their competition). Their food is much more interesting and creative. So much so, that I've made it a mission to try everything they have to offer. I may even try the burrito and enchiladas, but only after I try everything else first. Even the Mexican pizzas are unique and I don't think you can find a better pizza in Sonoma County. Pizza Leah doesn't stand a chance and hers cost almost twice as much, and have about 1/5 of the meat. I love ribeye steak and the Pezcow's 16 oz. aquachile ribeye is one of the best steaks I've ever had. It has a unique soy/spicy chile marinade that is amazing! That steak and a Mexican pizza as an appetizer will serve 4-6, and you may have leftovers. There is a also a grilled 30 oz. ribeye that is delicious for those that can't take heat. If your a cheese lover, the Queso Fundido appetizer is a must try. Eat this dish with the fresh hot tortilla chips they bring or the fresh flour tortillas and you will be in heaven, just don't take your time as this is best eaten quickly as the cheese stiffens up and is harder to eat. Again, this will serve 4-6 people. The chicken flautas is my wife's favorite, get the sauce on the side because it is spicy. Carne En Su Jugo is perfect anytime but especially on a cold winter night. The whole bean stew/soup, loaded with pieces of carne asada and bacon is so good I eat the whole bowl and all the flour tortillas that accompany it. Huevos Divorciados is the best chilaquilles in town, it comes topped with carne asada and eggs! Who wouldn't like that? Tacos Governador-if you love quesadillas and shrimp, get this dish! The standard fish tacos (no melted cheese) are great too! The Torre De Mariscos (seafood tower) is a work of art and tastes as good as it looks. There are so many other menu items I could rave about, but you're just going to have to go and check them out yourself-you won't be disappointed. I'm still going through the menu, so I may see you there! I almost forgot to mention the Sunday Brunch-totally different from the menu items (but they may still let you order from the menu if your a good customer). An assortment of big bowls of home-style stewed meats/dishes, rices and beans you'd find at your grandma's house, sometimes including Menudo or Pasole, and for $25 it's the Best Sunday Brunch ever! read more

I have tried several Mexican restaurants in the Windsor and Healdsburg area, but I will definitely be coming back to Pezcow. I took three golf buddies here and everyone raved about their food. We ordered the Caldo De Siete Mares (Soup of Seven Seas) and the Molcajete, which is a must have if you have never tried it. Everything was wonderful, including the chips and salsa, you will not be disappointed. The service was also exceptional. This place is a gem and is tucked into a great little shopping center on Old Redwood Highway. Even if you come hungry, you will still be bringing food home as the portions are very generous. read more

Went to Pezcow today, the most awful chicken fajitas & Mexican rice I have ever tasted. The chicken was nasty, I was expecting grilled chicken breast, what I got was possibly thighs, but it was horrible & the onions & peppers were barely cooked, absolutely zero flavor or spices. The tortillas were tough & the Mexican rice was over cooked and had no flavor whatsoever. They don't have refried beans there either. If you like nachos you can't get them here, they don't make them. I barely ate any of the food, couldn't choke it down it was that terrible, the waitress could see I barely touched it, she never asked how was the food & never offered to discount my bill. I will not be back & I won't recommend this restaurant either. The bill was $32.50 for one person, unbelievably expensive for such disgusting food. read more

One big open room with family style wood tables, beautiful Mexican tile work and comfortable seating. But the food!!! it was exquisite. We started with queso fundedo. I had camerones Al ajillo, shrimp sautéed with mushrooms and slightly spicy pepper. it was served with delicious rice and a salad. My friend had a half pineapple filled with chunks of pineapple, fish, scallops and shrimp covered with melted cheese also served with rice and salad. The portions are huge. They offer wine by the bottle or the glass. We chose a bottle of Bella Winery Rose for $38 which was a perfect accompaniment to our food. They also offer beer. Prices are quite reasonable. I grew up eating authentic Mexican food my whole life and am naturally very picky when it comes to Mexican restaurants. Pezcow surpassed my expectations. What I don't like is that AFTER I gave them. $6 tip they later added another $10 tip on top of mine after I left! $16 tip, for a buffet that I got up myself to get! Hell NO! I only found out about the extra tip after seeing my bank withdrawals. WOW so disrespectful and literally felt robbed. Agave in Healdsburg did this to me TWICE a few years ago. The food is phenomenal! Delicious and flavorful. We tried the fried whole tilapia and the stuffed pineapple. The seafood was fresh and everything was hot and well seasoned. Incredible! Absolutely amazing food. Everything was delicious! Truly the one of the best meals I've ever had. Life changing. Every dish had so much flavor and complexity while still being so well balanced. After talking with the server she informed us that it's her family who owns and operates the restaurant and that everything is homemade from fresh, local, and quality ingredients. It's a difference that you can really taste in the food. I'm in total awe of this place. This restaurant needs awards for the kind of food they're putting out. Seriously. Along with the food, the inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated, with such a pleasant ambience. Service was excellent, and fair pricing. Could not wait to revisit. The revisit was the issue and why only three stars. It is a 50 mile round trip for us to go here and Sunday after arriving at 2pm only to find out it is closed. Checked web site, open from 10am to 9pm. Called and they said not open until 4pm. That is about $15 of wasted fuel for us to say nothing of the time and disappointment. To make it worse went across the way to Gallo Negro and had poor service and mediocre food. Will not go again without calling to see if they are really open. read more

The previous restaurant in that location was flooded with intense sunlight and heat. Pezcow transformed the space into a beautiful oasis with subdued natural light. So gorgeous with colorful Mexican tile, hammered copper hanging lights, and a fabulous display kitchen! Observing the chef prepare our meal left no doubt a lot of love goes into his cooking. The fajita meat (we had chicken and steak) was so tender and flavorful! Seriously the BEST fajitas I've ever had! The fresh salsa and warm chips served as an appetizer were epic.
