I am extremely saddened by the experience I had today at this location. I had made a grooming appointment for my puppy. I had intentionally scheduled it with the same groomer as my puppy is scared of the grooming process. The first time I brought my dog here, she had an appointment with Michelle and Michelle was amazing. She was super understanding and recommended to be consistent with a groomer to ease the process so my dog can eventually get use to it. I had originally scheduled an appointment with her today but due to scheduling conflicts the store had to change the groomer. When the store called me I made sure to tell them that my puppy is scared of the grooming process and that this is her second time. In the reservation process I even left notes on what to expect. I took her in today. Less than 5 minutes later I get a call from the groomer saying they won't be able to continue with the grooming appointment because she is scared. I had done everything correctly and my dog still was not provided the service she needed. read more

The slowest customer service I have ever experienced in my life - every time I go there. Carry great products and staff are friendly. the manager needs to watch the flow of the floor a bit better. You shouldn't have one line open with 10 people deep and two employees chatting in the background. You have to remember what that looks like to the customer. In addition, the wait times on the phone are a joke let alone getting someone to answer the phone. Sad thing is you are so conveniently located to me that I'll have to suck it up and continue to use your services or order off Amazon for the same supplies. read more

HORRIBLE service -- not recommended!!! After asking one of the guys who work there to show us one of their rats, my wife and I were thoroughly ignored. At first I thought he didn't hear me, so I asked again twice, and the guy almost walked into me -- I had to move away -- and just went away, without even making eye contact! He would have to actually be both hearing and seeing impaired to miss me unintentionally. Next thing, a female member of the staff approached us and instead of happily showing us the animal, she seemed angry because she assumed we want to feed the rat to a snake! No joke, she actually said that and made us promise it's not the case. To make it all worse, when asked what the name of the rude guy was, she refused to provide an answer. This is one of the better Petsmarts that I've been to in the general San Gabriel Valley area. It's about the same size as your average Petsmart, so about half of the store is dedicated to dogs, a third to cats, and the rest to everything else. I only own animals in "the rest" category, so that's what I'll talk about. Animals: Standard stock of animals - I think Petsmart is more standardized than Petco in this regard of being able to count on the same types of birds, rodents (small animals), fishes, and reptiles being generally available year-round. I won't speak for the bird trade, but I've owned fishes for 9 years, reptiles for 4, and recently inherited two guinea pigs. People who aren't beginners, myself included, generally don't buy from Petsmart as a corporation (not this store in particular). A lot of their animals come from breeders who basically replicate the puppy mill model, but for other animals, and they don't adjust the husbandry within groups of animals. For example, chameleons should NEVER be kept in glass tanks except for Pygmys (which they don't sell) because they'll hyperventilate and get really stressed with low ventilation, but they're in full glass at every Petsmart. Same goes for a lot of rodents - you don't see them selling glass tanks marketed for rodents, so why do they keep them in glass tanks in the store? The fish are probably your safest bet - I believe shipments come in on Thursday or Friday, so I would suggest going around then to minimize time spent in store. They also have 14-day guarantees on their animals, although if you bought an animal there, and it died, do you really want a replacement from the same tank? TLDR: if you're new, Petsmart will probably be more helpful than a mom-and-pop store that caters to people who know what they're doing already, plus they have a lot more "beginner-level" stock. Wouldn't buy here if you know what you're doing though. Supplies: Good selection, they generally have Perks discounts on different stuff throughout the year, although major sales tend to really favor dogs and cats. You could definitely find a lot of the stuff cheaper on Amazon (especially things like cage decor - wood, underwater castles for your fish, guinea pig hides, etc.), but basics like food aren't that much more expensive. This Petsmart also has the sweetest clearance section I've seen at any Petsmart! I've picked up 30 gallon tanks, light hoods, etc. for 50% or more off. Service: This Petsmart is actually one of the better ones in terms of their staff actually knowing some stuff about the animals they sell. Not every Petsmart will tell you to cycle a fish tank without fish for the first month to build up microbial communities for example, but I've heard some of the associates here walk people through that instead of just letting them bring home a fish and a new tank on the same day. Reptiles are a niche hobby, so it's harder to find people who know what they're talking about, but animals like Bearded Dragons are so common these days that almost anyone who's kept any reptile has researched them enough to know what they're talking about. Probably the only ones I would be more wary about asking advice for are the snakes and the chameleons. TLDR: One of the better Petsmart and chain pet stores in the area - would recommend for beginners looking into fish, rodents, or reptiles, not experienced keepers. read more

Since I adopted my kitten, I've been taking him to see Justin in the Grooming department for baths and nails trimmings. It has been necessary to go frequently, or said kitten will make quick work of destroying all of the furniture (despite having like 6 scratching posts in a single room - sigh!) All of the staff is very kind, especially a nice gal with dark hair and black glasses that either works the register or roams the floor helping people, though I've unfortunately never gotten her name. Every time we've gone in - whether it was for our dogs or cats, they've been super helpful and patient. I know that retail takes a ton of patience, and these folks are true saints. If you have a cat that requires grooming, I absolutely recommend Justin. He does quality fast work, and is always very kind to our little guy, which I'm sure can be difficult since cats are not the easiest to bathe. We love him! (I'd tip him more if I could afford it - he's really a sensational guy.) Overall, I recommend checking these folks out. Great, helpful employees and lovely services! read more

I got a nail grind and booked my appointment in advance let me say i have never seen anyone even able to pick his paws up not even me, he not only let her touch his feet but clip and grind his nails im shocked first time he didn't bite for nails, she noticed his skin redness i was unaware of, he does have skin allergies, so she suggested hypo shampoo for sensative skin so it wount irritate his skin she made sure my baby's health came first. Just took our dog here for grooming and it went great. Everyone was so friendly and I loved the report card that our dog got. I booked the appointment online a day ahead and was able to find a time that worked out perfectly. A big plus, this is one of the only places in the area that is open on Sundays. read more

I made an appointment for grooming for my 2 dogs ago. I called them hour before to confirm my appointment and they told me that they were not able to take my dogs. This update review is for the obedience training and we love it. Kevin has trained our dog since Puppy training to now currently in advanced training. A nice place to go. The manager, Joe is always pleasant and so are the employees. Prices are fair and lots of stuff are on sale too. At the cat rescue area there are very nice people who volunteer for the cats and Julia the coordinator for the rescue is nice. For what they are, a massive chain, this is a pretty good store. The staff definitely gets a big thumbs up; they're extremely friendly and polite. The selection is good, if a bit pricey at times. I've had good luck asking questions; the staff is more knowledgeable than you'd expect from a big chain. In all honesty, I usually just go here when I'm in a hurry - otherwise I go to TomCat warehouse or Centinela Feed, or Scales n Tails in Burbank for my turtle's needs - but except for having a very limited selection of grain-free dog food (and as far as I can tell, nothing in the raw food category), it's a good place to shop. read more

The best thing about this store is the customer service. Every employee, is very knowledgeable as to where everything is, and they love all of the pets that come in with their owners. I reluctantly decided to give the grooming services another try. About a year ago I used to take my lab for baths. The last time I took care, she came home super scared. It took me hours to calm her down. Everything was fine before that but whoever bathed her the last time really did a number on her. Needless to say I started bathing her at home or going to the self wash. Today she needed her anal glands cleaned. I figured that since it's a quick in and out procedure, it can't be a big deal. I called to see if they took walk ins and they told me to go ahead and show up. When I got there they asked for proof of her last rabies shot. Since she goes to their hospital - Banfield, I asked them to just look her up. They told me they couldn't do that and that I had to come back with the paper. They could have just told me that over the phone and I would not have wasted my time with them. Complete disappointment. My fault for giving them another chance read more

Not sure if I can even rate this place, because they do not deserve even 1. Dog owners beware!! They have traumatized my dog to the point that I had to hire a personal trainer/ psychologist in order to bring her back to her normal behavior and I do have a prove that they really did bruised her!!! Apparently my dog attacked couple of people, but I am sure even a human being will attack if they are bitten up and bruised (head and trunk area) The staff is rude, agressive and unprofessional, that is all I can say about this store. I take her to the PetSmart in Pasadena now and even before this heartbreaking experience and she had never attacked anyone, ever!!!! The first time I took her back to Pasadena she was shaking for 15 minutes... now she is fine and passed her horrible memories. They did not even complete the job and charged me without telling me anything.. I had to fight for my money back, of course. And the girl who groomed my dog did not really deserve that 5 dollar tip, because I did not even get any paper back about the experience and only after my complaint I was told that the job was not completed because apparently my dog was aggressive.. Good for her!!! Beware!!! PS It has been more than a year now, but i really had to write this review because i care for pets!! I am a professional myself and do not really have time to deal with this kind of issues, but I think people deserve to know and make better choices. Please be ware of the PetSmart in Tujunga, CA!!!! I've taken my dog and my mom's dog for grooming on different days and they are both very ill because of this store! They have came home vomiting yellow foam and with stools in a shape of yellow small balls that happen intervals of every 10-20 min. In addition, they have become severely irritated starting from their genital area ending in their anus. They have yellow crusty rashes that make them be in pain all day. Leo will not stop shaking in pain. His testicles have become even more irritated that they have slightly opened and a watery substance comes out. I have already taken him to the vet and I have gotten medicine and I hope to see results soon. I don't want to loose my pets because of a store that isn't capable of professional grooming. I took my pets there confiding in them, thinking I left my pets in safe and professional hands, but I guess I was mistaken! I've spoken to different managers asking for help and none of them help me. The only thing they say is that if the Vet diagnosis that if Pet Smart is responsible for the injury, then they will pay for any Veterinary fees. Well the Vet admitted that it was either they shampoo they used or their grooming tools that they used but he said "since I wasn't there I can't say it was them ho caused it"! I am very desperate and frustrated! I can't stand seeing my little one in such pain! Please be ware!!!! read more

Don't go to petsmart for grooming (or anything)!! I would usually recommend going to petsmart for anything you need for your dog like food and toys but after what happened to my dog today, I HIGHLY suggest that you DO NOT bring your dog here! we made an appointment on Thursday for my puppy to get a haircut today (Saturday) at 12:00pm. They were very friendly and happy we were coming to them again because we've had her groomed there twice before and everything had gone perfectly. Then today when we brought her in at 11:45, they said that it would be 3-4 hours before we could pick her up. This was a mistake on our part deciding to leave her for that long. Then at 3 pm, they called us telling us that they had bathed her and started to cut her hair, but that they couldn't finish because and I quote, "she just is not having it today. She just can't deal with it." As the lady repeated numerous times. They said she was barking and biting so we asked if they could put the muzzle on her and they said no because she's a chihuahua mix??? They didn't even have the courtesy to know that she's a TERRIER POODLE mix?!!! So we go to pick her up and they were going to make us pay for her bath?! Absolutely not! She was only HALF shaved. We talked to the manager and he was very friendly and didn't make us pay but it was so ridiculous to have us make an appointment then say come back in 3-4 hours, keep her locked up around other stressed dogs, and THEN 3 hours later, begin to groom her and NOT expect her to be agitated and stressed?? Absolutely unacceptable. We are never going to petsmart for anything again. read more

After terrible experiences with the Wag My Tail salon in Sunland/Tujunga, I literally went to every grooming salon along Foothill Blvd from Sunland all the way to La Canada to inspect their facilities. There are quite a few of them. Some had very unfriendly staff. Others had terrible parking. Still others were not very clean. Some had all three problems. The ones that were nice were asking absurdly high prices for their services. Running out of options, I decided to give PetSmart a try. I had shopped there before but never considered them for their grooming services. It was the best thing that ever happened. The staff there is absolutely amazing. I have never had any problems and have always been happy with my dog's appearance. And the prices are very reasonable...even bargain rate after you factor in the coupons available on their in-store receipt and online. But the most important thing is that I love how they treat my dog. All of the employees I have encountered have demonstrated a great love for animals. And they do a tremendous job! My pup looks and smells so good after every visit! This is one of my favorite businesses (of any kind) to visit. Great atmosphere! Thank you so much! read more

took my dog in to be groomed, Frank has done the job several times now, haven't been thrilled but it was ok. This last week I took her in for grooming, same as always, never asked for Frank but that is who was to do it again. I have told him Not to cut her Tail!! he said he would have to, I said I didn't want him to do it! She usually gets a #4 but he said he thought he needed to go shorter, he never showed me the sample of the cut length. Wow! had to cry when I picked her up, she was shaved! her tail was shaved! but he never cut any hair on her ears or head! what a dumb looking animal! Don't get me wrong, I Love my 16yr old dog, she is the best! but hard to look at after that cut! The manager never offered to give me back my $50 but said I could have someone cut the hair on her head! What do you think? shouldn't they give me my money back and try and do something about her head and ears? as I was in the store other customers said how sad she looked and warned me to put sunblock on her! It was Labor Day week-end and had to cancel our Beach trip and didn't go out to sons pool. It's terrible! read more

Our 100 lb German Shepherd needed a bath, which is just too much for us, so we decided to give Petsmart a try. Opted for the basic grooming package. The price was great. We were a bit nervous since we had heard some stories about increased fees after you pick up your dog if there were issues. Not the case with us. Fee was exactly as quoted. Our girl can be a big baby when it comes to nail clipping but the groomers teamed up to calm her. Really appreciated that caring service. Will definitely be back. read more
