I've been working with Harry at Karma Dog Training for both private lessons and group puppy classes, and I can't recommend him highly enough. His calm, patient, and intuitive approach immediately put both me and my puppy at ease. As a first-time dog parent, I appreciated how much thought Harry puts into explaining why certain behaviors happen and how to respond in a way that builds trust and long-term success. He's also incredibly generous with tips, follow-ups, and encouragement -- it really feels like he's invested in your journey. If you're looking for a trainer who's knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely passionate about helping dogs thrive, Harry is your guy.

Vanessa was a lifesaver and was really able to wrangle my rescue. After being returned 4 times to the shelter and getting attacked at doggie day care (never to to Citydog Weho) my dog was traumatized. She pulled and jumped, barked at men, big dogs and garbage trucks and lunged at passersby and small dogs. She was (and still is) hyper vigilant and hypersensitive and has a lot of energy even with 2-3 long walks per day and mental stimulation. I had tried a class at pet smart, another class in Atwater, private lessons from a "behaviorist" who didn't use treats or commands, private lessons at her doggie daycare and a poorly trained private dog trainer from another doggie day care. She was too hypersensitive and high strung to succeed in a class setting and the doggie daycare trainer was ill-equipped to deal with her energy. I was at wit's end as I could not take her anywhere for fear she would start a barking frenzy, and walking her was a nightmare. I tried calling several dog trainer companies including Barkbusters which doesn't use treats (and ghosted me when I asked them how they initially train the dogs certain behaviors if they don't use treats) and LAK9s which uses slip leads. I had used a slip lead (aka choke collar) with my first dog and learned that she would not behave without her collar on so that was a hard no. Given my dog's trauma, I really needed a trainer who used positive reinforcement, not punishment or aversive training techniques. I called Karma Dog Training because they advertised that they use positive reinforcement. It sounded exactly like what my dog needed. First I had a phone consultation with Vanessa who was friendly and open and listened to all of my concerns. I felt optimistic when she said she could help with all of these behaviors so I signed up for 7 lessons plus an initial consult. The first lesson was longer than regular lessons since it was the initial consult. Vanessa met my dog and got a sense of her idiosyncrasies and training needs which were many. First of all my dog was literally all over the place when it came to walking. Vanessa had to really work with her in the hallway to teach her to stay next to her side and to focus on her. Vanessa was amazing! She taught my dog to pay attention to her in one lesson using treats and praise. It was a miracle that she got her to walk in a straight line lol. Anyway long story short we kept working on walking and basic commands and discipline. She now walks next to me and focuses on me while we walk. She will pull when excited but is able to be redirected when asked to sit and focus on me. Vanessa told me walking would take a long time which it has but she is a thousand times better than she was. We also worked on desensitizing her to her triggers which has helped a lot. Since my dog is hypervigilant and part terrier, she will always be on the alert for squirrels and anything to bark at but she is manageable now and is only getting better. Now that I know how to keep her in check on walks and she knows the basics, we started working on tricks like roll over with Vanessa. In short Vanessa is basically a miracle worker and has been invaluable in teaching my dog to become a well-adjusted member of the dog world. More importantly she taught me the skills to work with my dog as well as how to feel more confident and less anxious, as dogs pick up on their owner's energy. Also she is so good that people have approached her and asked her if they can train their dogs! 11/10 would recommend Vanessa for any dog training needs! She is good at taking photos too (see photo) lol

    Romi's graduation

My puppy and I had such an amazing experience in the Karma Dog Training puppy kindergarten classes with Holly and Vanessa! Holly is incredibly knowledgeable and patient, she really takes the time to explain the why behind the training, which helped me feel more confident as a puppy parent. Romi started out super shy but by the end of the program his confidence had grown so much. It was amazing to see his progress each week in the positive environment Holly and Vanessa created. I would highly recommend them to anyone with a puppy!

    Zorro

Vanessa is great! She has privately trained Zorro, and has him wrapped around her fingers. She teaches puppy kindergarten in West Hollywood and Glendale. Zorro also goes to puppy Kindergarten with Holly and she is great too.

TLDR: Karma Dog Training is fantastic. 100000/10 recommend! I recently got a heeler-mix puppy named Koa, and a few weeks after bringing him home, I had to go on a trip. I reached out to a few local places, and Karma Dog Training stood out right away. They responded almost immediately via email, and within a few hours, I was on the phone with the founder, Jeffrey. He walked me through all of my options clearly and patiently, no pressure at all, unlike some other places. You can tell he genuinely cares about the animals, and he answered all of my (many) questions without hesitation. They offer several different programs, and to help me decide, they set up a call with one of their trainers. That's when I met Kelsey W., who I instantly clicked with. I ended up going with their Vacation program, where the trainer stays at your home while you're away, and I'm so glad I did. Kelsey has been nothing short of amazing. She made me feel completely at ease before my trip, even coming by super early in the morning before my flight for a walkthrough. While I was gone, she sent detailed updates and photos of everything she and Koa were working on, which made me miss him like crazy, but I knew he was in great hands. When I got back (with a cold, of course), she still took the time to hop on a 2+ hour call with me to go over everything they'd worked on. I was honestly blown away by how much Koa had learned in just a week. It was a little overwhelming to process at first, but Kelsey was incredibly reassuring and gave me all the tools I needed to continue the work. Since then, she's continued to be an amazing resource whenever I've had questions or felt a bit overwhelmed by my very smart, very spirited puppy. She's seriously the best!

Karma Dog Training is great! My dog is receiving the BEST training. Our trainer Holly is kind, understanding, caring, and professional. My dog is responding so well to the positive environment Holly is providing. My pooch and I are BOTH very happy!

    Graduation pic!

My puppy Archie was a handful, to say the least. And not having had a puppy for over a decade, I was at a loss. Luckily, a friend recommended Holly, and she and her assistant Vanessa were wonderful - patient, fun and knowledgeable. The group classes combine lessons and play time and Archie not only had a great time, but graduated a totally different dog! I can not recommend them more!

Karma Dog Training never disappoints! I've had the pleasure of working with a few of the trainers and each one of exceptional quality. I started the journey with Tawni for board and train - basic training. Brooklyn was potty trained and knew basic commands (sit, down, come, stay) after just one week. She sent me tons to videos and photos too. When he came home, she worked with me to reinforce. Now, I have the privilege to work with Anastasia for separation anxiety and service dog training. She is beyond amazing. She breaks things down for Brooklyn AND for me in a way that resonates for each of us respectively. She offers both of us the guidance and confidence to succeed. I appreciate her real world approach. She is also incredibly kind and empathetic. Jeff and the team are also incredible humans. They care so deeply and go the extra mile to help support your journey. I've also recommended them to friends and have received lots of positive feedback and gratitude! I feel so fortunate to have found this team of elite trainers and genuinely good humans!

    Puppy classes

We did group classes with Holly & Vanessa. Such great trainers and so knowledgeable! We have become such better dog parents since coming to classes every week. Kaya was such a shy pup in the beginning of class and we saw so much progress and her confidence grew. Puppy playtime has been so great for socialization for us. We also did a couple private trainings with Holly and we saw immediate progress, she's very knowledgeable! If you have to training go with Holly & Vanessa, they use positive reinforcement & it's always so much fun learning !

Highly recommend. I took both my pups here to learn how to socialize and play with other dogs (not just themselves). This dynamic duo learned to be confident in play by the second session! It's 7 weeks of training. Each week is a different command. Learn the basics and framework on how to train and progress your pups. They all learn at different rates! Also you can do make up sessions if you have a scheduling conflicts. It's super fun to watch your pups learn things within the 1 hour session. Super helpful tips to take home so you can continue to work at home with your pups. Vikki and Alex were great!

Do they come to your home? My puppy hasn't finished vaccinations

Yes! We met at my home, the park and Petsmart.

Where are they located? Can not find address anywhere?

I believe their locations are ALL OVER, and in other states too. They work with local pet shops for group classes. They have a huge extensive training program that is private, thus coming to you. I got all that info once I emailed them.

Can we train old dogs how to potty train?

I am not with Karma, but I can tell you absolutely yes! Contact me on Instagram @mommadogpetservices for more info.

Do they train dogs that bark and bite strangers?

Yes! Ask Holly Lyons-she's the champion at this!

The first couple times we used Sitter4Paws we had a really great experience with the sitters that were assigned to our senior, diabetic cat. Last year, my mother unexpectedly passed away, and our regular cat sitter was unavailable for half of the trip home. We booked Sitter4Paws the second half of the trip, and let them know about the circumstances and requested sitters that had seen Jodie before so that we could rest easy during a very difficult time. Of course we know that can't always be accommodated due to scheduling, so for the first visit a new sitter came to see Jodie. On the evening of my mother's passing, we got a text from Sitter4Paws that the sitter felt he may have made a mistake with our cat's insulin dosage. It was revealed to us that instead of giving her her normal 2.25 unit dose, he gave her 22.5 units - ignoring the taped off/labeled syringes, our explicit written instructions in the app, and additional photos/diagrams of what a full syringe should look like. Thank god he realized his mistake, otherwise our cat would have slowly died alone in our apartment - and this would have happened immediately after losing my mom. I understand mistakes can happen, but the fact that a sitter was uncertain with potentially life-threatening medication if administered improperly and didn't even think to reach out to us first was quite shocking. Sitter4Paws took full responsibility, admitted their mistake, said they would take steps to make sure something like this would never happen again, and covered her 4 day ER stay, but it never should have gotten to that point. Again - we did have great sitters who took care of our cat wonderfully - but the uncertainty of who you can get especially with medication involved means that we can no longer recommend this service with confidence.

Wolly is a 12 lb, 10 year old Maltipoo who is very social but definitely set in his ways, so we do not say this lightly: we truly cannot say enough good things about the care he received here. From a logistics standpoint, the entire experience was incredibly easy. The flexibility of drop off before noon without needing daily sign ups was a huge win for us while traveling and juggling plans. Pick up as late as 7 PM was equally helpful, and the pricing felt very reasonable for the level of service. What really stood out was the thoughtfulness around safety and care. The facility is secure and gated at drop off, and we watched staff carefully manage dog flow right at the entrance. At one point, a team member even positioned themselves between our children and a larger dog out of an abundance of caution. That level of awareness told us everything we needed to know. We also appreciated the small but meaningful details. There is a live camera so we could check in whenever we missed him. They feed dogs separately and sanitize the area afterward, which gave us real peace of mind. But the true highlight was the caregivers. The way they greeted Wolly each day, how gently they handled him, and how clearly they knew the dogs in their care made this place special.
