My big pittie just returned from his 2 week board and train sessions with Reine and I couldn't be happier with his results! Prior to his training, he struggled with jumping on people, leash pulling, anxiety and just impatience. He just couldn't sit and wait for anything. Now, I can actually take him on walks on my own. He complies with simple commands to sit, heel, down and extended down, off, and break! I can now have him inside the house because he's so much more compliant. I'm so grateful for their handwork and patience with my big Lil Love Bear. Thank you OffLeash SoCal!!

Posing for her first day at "school"

We've had the privilege of training two of our dogs with OffLeash SoCal, and both times Heather was their trainer. It's hard to fully express how grateful we are for the care, patience, and dedication she showed our pups--and us. What we didn't expect was how attached we would become to the daily updates. After five weeks, saying goodbye to those and to Heather was surprisingly bittersweet. Heather had truly become part of our "pack," and it was clear how much love and attention she poured into the dogs she works with. Heather was an absolute joy to work with--always responsive, encouraging, and thoughtful in every interaction. We like to joke that she's part dog whisperer and part therapist. While the dogs were learning, we quickly realized that we as owners had a learning curve too. Heather met every question and challenge with patience and kindness, guiding us through each step so we could support our pup once she came home. One of the moments that really stuck with us was seeing Coco's blog post on the very first day (link below). Heather has this incredible ability to describe each dog's behavior and personality in ways that feel almost human. And knowing Coco as well as we do, she captured our little girl perfectly. Reading that gave us such confidence that Coco was in the hands of someone who truly understood her. https://www.offleashsocal.com/post/coco-havanese-los-angeles-ca-in-training When Coco first started, she was a shy, shaky little girl who could easily get overwhelmed. Watching her transformation over the next two weeks was amazing. She gained confidence, learned her commands, and started to carry herself with a sense of calm and trust we hadn't seen before. She's still the same sweet, affectionate pup who wants to share kisses with everyone she meets--but now she has the confidence and freedom to explore the world without so much fear. Seeing that change in her has meant everything to us. Heather also took such wonderful care of Coco in the little details--keeping her clean, happy, and always camera-ready for the updates. When we picked her up, Coco even smelled amazing! If we ever need training again in the future, we wouldn't hesitate for a second to return to OffLeash SoCal. Heather made this experience incredibly special for our family, and we wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone who wants their dog trained with skill, compassion, and genuine love.

    Frankie.

We just completed a two-week training program with Heather for our dog Frankie, and we truly could not be happier. Leaving your dog with someone you don't know is nerve-wracking, and we were very hesitant at first. From day one, Heather made us feel completely supported, calm, and reassured that Frankie was in the absolute best hands. It was clear immediately that she didn't just train Frankie -- she genuinely loved her like her own. Heather provided incredible daily pup-dates with photos and videos, keeping us updated on Frankie's progress every step of the way. Watching Frankie grow more confident and well-trained each day was amazing. What really set Heather apart was the transition process. She took the time to show us exactly how to continue and reinforce everything Frankie learned at home, which made us feel confident and set up for long-term success. We look forward to working with Heather for years to come and truly cannot recommend her enough. If you're on the fence, don't be -- your dog will be in the best possible hands.

We're so deeply grateful to Priscilla for the incredible work she's done with Simone (1year Sheepadoodle). From the very beginning, it's been clear that this is more than just training -- it's a thoughtful, caring partnership rooted in patience, consistency, and an intuitive understanding of Simone's personality. This experience has been nothing short of wonderful, and it's given us not only a better-behaved dog, but a stronger bond with her as well for our family. Thank you, Kelly and Zach

    Tazz's welcome home

We trusted OffLeash SoCal for obedience training for Tazz (Belgian Mallinois/shepherd mix), we were very "in over our heads" with this puppy. Rob was amazing, and was very up front with the challenges we were facing with Tazz (he's more than earned his name). Rob provided daily pupdates which really helped us understand the effort and consistency that goes into this level of training. We turned Tazz over as a gnarling, toothy, uncontrolled furball. Rob returned a well behaved, eager to work puppy - the transformation is HUGE! Thru this process we've learned that Tazz's reactivity is rooted in fear & anxiety; knowing this helps us set Tazz up for success knowing we need to ease him into new situations. OffLeash SoCal is giving us the tools to help Tazz fit into our family pack better than we thought possible. Knowing that we can reach out for help moving forward is wonderful. Tazz is a much more well-adjusted doggo, the difference (in just a few short weeks) is absolutely astonishing! Thank you to OffLeash SoCal and to Rob for taking such amazing care of Tazz and proving the foundation and structure for us to continue moving forward!

    Charlie

Heather at OffLeash SoCal was so great for my Charlie! I could tell she was invested in Charlie's success and actually cared about him and loved training him. I was nervous about sending him away and I felt so guilty during the week before his pick up date. After his two weeks and seeing how much Charlie liked Heather, I knew it was a great experience for him too and I am so happy that we were matched with Heather. Charlie is a very stubborn, super energetic and loving golden retriever mix. He does not easily follow direction but Heather did a great job with him while honoring his exuberant personality. He still has work to do but he's come so far, I am optimistic about continuing the work. A great big thank you to Heather and Offleash SoCal for taking care of Charlie. Oh, and the daily updates during his two weeks kept me on the edge of my seat for the next day's news.

During her two week boarding / training program. Look at this smile she's giving him!

Hello, I'm giving Rob 5 Stars for the effort he put into my sassy little tank, her name is Luna. I couldn't of asked for a better person to train my very stubborn little girl. He was so patient, continued to work with her, and gave me some tips during our turn over. This review is well overdue but I didn't forget! I would highly recommend Rob to anyone who needs help like I did with my Frenchie. He's the best!

This is a situation that calls for more stars. We welcomed our new pup in August and were advised by a friend to begin training by right away which surprised me. I thought formal training began later. We did the best we could, but with two young (busy) kids, and work, it was clear more intense help would be needed. We did a bunch of research and interviewed a few boarding options, but found Offleash to be the best fit by the first call. To begin, our pup would be in someone's home and cared for as we would while learning skills in public space. So, we signed up!! Before we knew it, Wrigley was off to camp!! We were nervous, of course, but couldn't have felt more immediately at ease when Cristian and his brother met. Wrigley was not only going to be with a clearly experienced trainer, but he was going to have a younger energy around him as well. And then, within hours, we had our first update and over the next two weeks we watched Wrigley learn more each day and letting the obedience sink in. When we met up on the final day, Cristian took his time with us and reviewed everything Wrigley learned, answered all of our questions, and gave us more tips to continue our training. We truly couldn't imagine a better experience and recommend starting sooner than later. Our 5 month old pup just went on a fast track through bad puppy habits and into a well mannered family dog. Thank you!!

If you are considering spending money for Off leash SoCal dog training read this first. I had both of my golden doodles trained in July and wanted to wait several months to write this review after I've had some time with the dogs. Service: 3 week board and train with good citizens certification Commands: off, heel, come to sit, place, under Why: I have 2, 1 year old golden doodle puppies who have extreme behavioral problems. Barking excessively at passing dogs, barking excessively at strangers, pulling at the leash, and other issues. Price: $5575 per dog for two dogs so $11,150 total Review: The marketing that Offleash SoCal does is false. Your dog will still need a leash after the training. Your dog will indeed accomplish the behavioral issues you are seeking to fix however there ONE CONDITION. The behavioral issues can only be fixed if the dog is wearing the simulation E collar "shock collar" and if you are controlling the remote. You cannot walk away from this training thinking you will have a 100% well trained dog because the second that E collar comes off the dog reverts immediately to its behavioral issues. I initially thought that with time and hearing the commands for five months straight ( i walk twice a day) my dogs would not need the E collar as frequently however I was wrong. I've reached out to the training manager Sheena on December 4 but have not heard a response. ECollar: The collar does not consistently make contact with the dog. As the hair grows on your pup the more difficult it is for the collar to make contact. There have been many times were I have marked the exact place the collar works consistently and other days it doesn't work at all. I charge the ecollar every night. Training: Offleash SoCal needs to do a better job training parents. They spent three weeks with the dogs and have a beautiful pup date portal (pictures) but drop them off too you and train you for 1-2 hours. There needs to be workshops to address training issues for parents. I never even received the promised follow up email with all the commands my dogs learned, I had to go off memory Overall: The only reason why they're getting three stars versus one is because my trainer was incredible (He gets 5 stars), and the pup portal is incredible. You also get lifetime retraining. $11,150 for five commands and three weeks of boarding is steep. Boarding for both of my dogs is $100 a day at BarkBark Signal Hill. For for three weeks at $100 a day that equates to $2,100 just in boarding. So essentially you're paying $9,050 for training. Not worth it and the marketing was very deceiving. Be prepared to not ever leave the house without your E-collar, leash, and voice again. It is embarrassing how many times I have to enforce the "HEEL" and "OFF" commands. Would I purchase this again, probably not. Go on TikTok and find a reputable e-collar brand and learn how to use it with your dog. The only reason why I didn't do this is because I had no idea what an E collar was. I spent hours a day working with my dogs FYI: I initially rated this business five stars because the trainer made it a requirement to rate the business either on yelp or Google when they dropped off the dog. After I wrote the review (under pressure) and they took a photo with their tablet. I deleted the review because I did not feel comfortable giving a review without forming my opinion on the service

Shortly after rescuing our German Shepherd, Klaus, we knew we needed to get him into training sooner than later. We opted for the 2 week board and train program, and while it is hard having your furry friend gone, it was absolutely worth it. The daily pupdates provide amazing feedback to see your pups progress, and help pass the time to the pick up date! I would absolutely recommend Offleash SoCal to anyone that inquires about dog training. A special thanks to Jose Ayala for looking after and training our German Shepherd, Klaus. You were fantastic.

We cannot recommend Offleash and our trainer Cristian highly enough! From the moment we started working together, it was clear that he was not only highly skilled but also patient and dedicated. We were impressed with how thorough he was in understanding both the dog's unique needs and our goals for training. What stood out most was his ability to communicate every step of the process clearly and writing very detailed blog posts with photos and videos. He took the time to explain techniques and provided practical advice that was easy to follow. Cristian was honest and transparent about expectations. He set realistic goals and was always upfront about what could be achieved and in what timeframe. At pickup Cristian outlined excellent next steps for continuing our dog's obedience training, offering actionable advice on how to keep building on the progress we've made. It's clear he genuinely cares about long-term success, and gave us a solid plan to ensure we stay on track. So far we see amazing progress which we so much appreciate!

We worked with Priscilla from Off Leash to help our puppy work through his insecurities and we are so happy we did! We put him on the two week boarding and training program because he would often nip and bite, seemingly randomly, when he felt unsafe. He didn't listen to commands and although he is adorable, he was difficult! At first we were nervous working with the e collar but after the program, we can see that it doesn't hurt him but just helps him focus on the tasks at hand. Priscilla was so gentle and patient with him and sent us updates every day which really helped us cope with us missing him. He's still the same funny puppy but now is just more lovable because he's confident that he's safe and confident that he knows how to listen and communicate with us. We're so happy with the results and would recommend to anyone with a fur baby! THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts Priscilla!!! She really is the best!! This family is grateful for all the hard work you put in with Nordie!

Tanner was phenomenal! We sent our 5 month old Pyrenees/German Shepherd for a 2 week board and train. Given she is still a puppy, we were nervous and not quite sure what to expect. On drop off, Tanner's calm and kind demeanor immediately put us at ease. Following along with her daily pupdates was a wonderful way to see her daily progress and stay connected to the training process. It was clear over the two weeks that Tanner really got to know her and was able to continually tailor the training program to meet her specific needs. For example, she really struggled with picking up everything she found on the ground and putting it in her mouth, a habit Tanner successfully broke her of. At pick up, Tanner was very patient with us and spent a lot of time with us making sure we fully understood the commands and how to use the ecollar. Before her board and train, she could barely walk on the leash and often lagged behind, pulled or threw temper tantrums when she didn't get her way. Today, after pick up, we walked her on a crowded street in Santa Monica and she walked so politely in a heel position ignoring people and dogs walking by and listing to commands when asked. This is a night and day difference! Overall, we walked away from the whole experience wowed by Tanner's professionalism and the progress/bond he formed with our dog. We cannot recommend the program and, Tanner specifically, enough! This was the best thing we could do for our dog to give her a solid training foundation that we will continue to build upon with her.

Where do I even begin with this review?!…read more When we first reached out to Leonard, we were completely at our wit's end with our dog. She's a six year old Portuguese Water Dog with a ton of energy and was EXTREMELY leash reactive, constantly overstimulated by everything around her on walks. Despite wanting her to come everywhere with us, taking her out felt dreadful & exhausting. I always dreamed of having a dog I could take to a coffee shop, sit, relax, answer emails, and just enjoy being out together. But that felt completely out of reach for us. I knew something had to change, I just didn't know where to start. That's when I found Dominant Dogs and came across Leonard Ludovico. I was hesitant, but after our initial consultation, he gave us confidence that things could improve. He recommended his three week boot camp, and we decided to trust the process! By the two week mark, I was already blown away. By the time we picked her up at three weeks, it truly felt like we had a completely different dog. Walking her is now easy. Being outside with her feels fun, freeing, and effortless, something I never thought I'd say. What really stood out is that this training wasn't just about changing our dog, it changed me too. Leonard helped shift how I showed up, not only with my dog, but in how I approach interactions more broadly. I truly cannot recommend Leonard enough. This was hands down the best money we've ever spent, and we absolutely plan to work with him again in the future. Thank you, Leonard, for everything. Your work is one-of-a-kind, and we're so grateful!!!

What really sets Leonard apart is how much he helps you understand your relationship with your dog. He teaches you how to lead with confidence and take ownership of the environment so your dog doesn't feel like they have to. That shift alone was huge for us. From day one, Leonard was thoughtful and intentional--he really wanted to make sure we were committed, which I respected so much given how much time and energy he pours into each dog. After our boot camp consult, he told us that if it went well, he'd take our dog that same day--and he did. The change started immediately, and now the difference in our dog's behavior (both at home and out in public) is truly night and day--in the best way. Leonard treats every dog like his own. The level of care, structure, and consistency he provides is exactly what we should have done from the start. We had worked with three other trainers before him, and unfortunately none were effective--some even made the aggression worse. Leonard's approach was the only one that truly worked. His boot camp is absolutely worth the investment. We are so grateful for everything he's done and hope to work with him again for future dogs. Our dog is happier, more relaxed, and more confident--and so are we. Thank you, Leonard. We genuinely miss seeing you on the weekends and learning from your perspective on both dogs and life.

This prompted us to connect with Dee where we collaborated on our goals together, and set our focus on reducing anxiety, potty and crate training, and teaching hand signals to keep our pup from bolting out the door. Two months later, we are THRILLED to report that our puppy's anxiety levels are down dramatically, she is 99% potty trained, fully crate trained and sleeping through the night and not a single attempt at an escape. An added bonus is seeing the benefit all of this has had on our other dogs and how quickly the puppy and cat were able to integrate. We did our meetings with Dee over FaceTime, starting at 3 to 4 times a week, and naturally decreasing as Dee's program was so effective. Dee is extremely knowledgeable, provides clear instruction, and has a way of explaining situations from a dog's perspective that makes it easy to understand the interventions. Scheduling time with her was easy. We greatly appreciated her being firm about following guidelines because it kept us on track. However, she is also understanding and flexible when we expressed needing adjustments based on our own lifestyle or goals for our family. We have a calm and cohesive family and are beyond grateful for Dee who was integral in this process.

But the most amazing experience was when my dog Ros was grieving the death of another of my dogs. She wouldn't get up and go out. She was so depressed I could barely get her to potty or eat. It was breaking my heart. Dee was so concerned and patient and attentive, helping me understand how to give Ros choice and not make her feel pushed while still encouraging her to participate in life again. Within two days she had come out from under my desk and started interacting with me and the other dogs. I will always be so grateful to Dee for helping her!

The stress became so intense that she even developed stress colitis after a routine grooming visit she had handled many times before. Nathalie at Les Pawtounes Dog Training was incredibly thoughtful and supportive through all of it. She didn't treat Kiki like a "problem dog" or use a one-size-fits-all approach. She really understood that Kiki was grieving, looked at what was driving the behavior, and gave me a clear, well-rounded plan to help her feel safe, calm, and more resilient. Everything was explained in a way that made sense, and I left feeling like I had real tools to help my dog. I'm so grateful for her compassion, knowledge, and care. If your dog is struggling with anxiety, behavior changes, or stress after a major life change, I highly recommend Nathalie.

She took the time to share incredibly helpful tips on getting started, including the importance of ensuring my puppy gets 16-18 hours of sleep each day for healthy development and growth. Nathalie also provided practical advice on beginning training and reinforcing positive behaviors. It had been almost a year since we last boarded but Ethan helped us get acclimated to the new policies and was super accommodating, even working with me on pick-up when my return flight was delayed. A true life-saver. All the staff are always kind and helpful and they really love on the animals, which I appreciate. They also regularly update with photos and emails to keep you in the loop which is very reassuring. Loki loves it there and is always wiped out when she returns. (She's been napping all day. Very clearly a happy girl ).

I was a loyal customer for years and spent thousands of dollars trusting this place with my dog…read more After he passed away at 16 years old, I repeatedly asked to be removed from their call and text lists. Each time, no one acknowledged what I said or confirmed anything had been done. The contacts kept coming anyway. Today I had another missed call from them. I called back and left a voicemail explaining my situation and requested a phone call from someone who could confirm they had removed me. Instead of calling, they responded with a text from a completely different number, saying they removed my number and to "have a blessed day!" They had no problem calling me unsolicited for years, but when I actually requested a call, they couldn't manage it, and were cheerfully condescending. I texted back and asked for a phone call. When someone did call, the representative launched into his own explanation from the start and kept interrupting me to make his point, which was that "this was not a mom and pop operation." Neither is Chewy, but those of us unfortunate enough to be in this situation already know how amazing they are at handling this news. This place is the opposite of that. At one point during the call it sounded as though he found the situation amusing. I just wanted a simple acknowledgment and confirmation that it was handled. Instead every interaction made an already painful situation worse.
