I recommend EveryDog to Every Human with a dog that I know. I like the way the sessions are very casual, but the whole time Dave is working with your dog to teach him good behavior and manners and he's also teaching you how to handle situations in a natural situation. Compared to working with my dog at group training sessions and classes, Dave's method is 100x more effective. Dave taught me through his example exactly how to get the best out of my dog and I can never thank him enough for that! Also, I try not to bug him much, but I know I can always email with questions or concerns and he will get back to me in a very timely manner!

Dave is amazing! He gives you so much feedback, always sends you lengthy follow-up, and is extremely responsive. He really cares about the well being of our dogs. He offers free extremely informative and educational consults. He's a wealth of knowledge and we're grateful we found him, he's an incredible resource and support. He really makes you feel like he's on your team, helps you be confident, and teaches you to teach your dog confidence too. We have two cockers, one we adopted in July. His anxiety/fear issues have progressively gotten worse, especially after a total fail with a previous trainer that used a shock collar and punitive based training. Gunner jumps up at strangers on walks, nips, cries/lunges/barks at other dogs outside, starts crying in our building hallway once he hears another dog bark.... Dave totally gets that these pets are FAMILY, and he makes sure he's educated and will educate you too. I might just have to make "Team Gunner" shirts soon because Dave has made it clear that he cares about him and wants nothing more than for him to succeed. Before our consult he sent us a ton of information, educational studies, links to many resources. The follow up email was just as educational. We had a session Tuesday and were able to check in tonight, immediately got an email response. For a married man with a new baby I have no idea how he finds the time to deal with so many emails and manage to stay up to date on canine behavior... but I'm grateful he does.

We are so thrilled that we found Dave. We have a 2 year old rottie mix who is actually fairly well trained in terms of basic skills. We started group training with him when he was a puppy so he knows all the basic commands, he's great in the house, and he doesn't have any separation issues. Unfortunately, the poor little guy suffers from severe anxiety that around the age of 1 started manifesting as fear aggression. He was so afraid (even of us) that our efforts to continue his training at that time seemed hopeless. At the worst point, we couldn't even get near him to put a collar on him or walk by him on his bed without a growl and sometimes a warning snap. We took him to a vet behaviorist who evaluated him and prescribed medication for his anxiety. After about a year of adjusting his meds, he is doing exceptionally well under the circumstances and our vet behaviorist recommended we start training with him again. The medication has relieved his stress response considerably, but the stimuli that frighten him are still a challenge (other dogs, kids, strangers petting him, garbage trucks, etc.). We'd done group training with another force-free trainer in the past and one private session, but our concern with her was that she seemed to want us to just avoid all the things that stimulate Ender's fear reaction. This is really really hard when so many things scare your dog. We heard about Dave through a friend and figured we had nothing to lose with the free consultation that he offers (wow, right?!). We were immediately impressed by Dave. He is the 4th trainer we've used, and he'll be our last--no more searching for a good trainer! He asked a lot of questions initially to really understand our dog and his issues and what we've been doing to try to work on them. In our two training sessions, he helped us to understand the difference between rewarding avoidance and counter-conditioning. It's a subtle (but really important) difference. He demonstrated exactly what we need to do in the situations that cause anxiety to start developing more positive associations. This is advanced stuff, and Dave knows it all. Not only does he know what to do and how to do it (in action), he's read all the research and will even send you the relevant stuff the day after your training session. After just two sessions and about a week of training, we are already seeing significant positive improvements in our dog. We couldn't be happier! It was also really nice for us to find a trainer that really understands and connects with our dog and sees what a sweet boy he is in spite of his anxiety. It was a pleasure working with Dave, and we plan to do a session with him every few months going forward to assess progress and move the training process forward. We highly recommend him!

We just finished a package deal with Dave and it was so refreshing to have his non-force, 100% positive reinforcement training with our Lolly. She's a sweet 6 pound chihuahua and shih tzu mix so finding the balance of carrying her in a carrier half the time and her learning to go on walks was a bit challenging for us. Dave was clear on his training and tips which made it easy for us to continue to practice them daily. I felt like I knew how to train dogs myself because I grew up with them but I knew I could brush up on skills and learn better ways to encourage my dog. They can be a lot to handle and I wanted a dog trainer that could help me chill them out and also work on training them together. I have an ~8yr old Yorkshire terrier, Choco, who is the sweetest dog, but barks at anyone visiting my house and sometimes nips people at their ankle if she doesn't like them. Over anxious, over hyper, over the top personality. Dave was very clear that he did not want to change who our dog was but how to make the relationship with our dog better. We intended on using EveryDog & Dave for a board and train with our GSD. Dave offered us a free consultation and carefully listened to our concerns and answered all questions via Zoom. You can tell he really cares about ALL dogs and isn't in this for the money. While we didn't end up doing the board and train, I can confidently say I would trust Dave with my life for knowing what's best for our dog. He gave us SO much knowledge that has already helped our dog immensely. If you are at the least considering going with their service, I would highly recommend jumping on a call with them. read more

TLDR: I would absolutely recommend Dave for anyone that is unsure about who to turn to for help. I adopted a 3yr rescue poodle mix (Mac) about 2 years ago. It became clear pretty early on that he had some intense fear/anxiety issues. He was reactive on the leash and I felt like I couldn't invite people into my home anymore. Mac had a very small circle of friends/family that he trusted and anybody new was a threat to him. I was worried about whether or not I would be able to handle him. I spent weeks reading reviews with 100 tabs open trying to find just the right person for Mac. Dave had the upmost patience with Mac and with me as well. I had so many questions and he had so many answers. While Dave is a dog trainer, most of the training was really for me--how to prepare Mac for a walk, how to walk, how to introduce new people to Mac. It has been over a year since my last visit with Dave, but Mac is still improving because of everything I learned. Last month, Mac and I went on our first pack hike. He met new people and new dogs on our own terms and he was an absolute superstar! There is still a lot of room for Mac to grow of course, but I feel like it is something I am prepared to work on. I would absolutely recommended Dave to anyone looking for help with their fur baby. read more

I strongly recommend EveryDog. Dave is super helpful and can tell he has a strong knowledge of dogs and their behavior. I never actually left my dog with them but jumped on a zoom call and visited their facilities. The reason I'm giving him 5 stars is because he was upfront on what they could do and our dog's problem wasn't something that could be resolved there. We were willing to pay for boarding + training but he advised that this wasn't going to resolve our issues. Bad business move for more money but earned our respect. The advice he gave us was super helpful and our dog is now doing better. read more

Dave assigned Susan to work with me and my (then) 10 week old puppy (Sisi). Susan worked with us for two & a half weeks and really helped me lay a foundation for basic training and learn how to set boundaries with Sisi. As a first time dog parent I had plenty of questions and Susan answered them all and gave me great tips and corrections on how to handle puppy behaviors. Sisi absolutely loves Susan! Working with Dave has been amazing! I'd been having more trouble with my dog, Charlie, and his reactivity to dogs, bikes, skateboards, etc. Dave met with us and explained how he approaches these issues and gave us great tips to get started even before our first session. His tips and method are spot on, walks with Charlie are much less stressful for both of us now. Dave really loves dogs and is passionate about working to make sure training is a positive experience for both you and your dog. He is also super flexible with my irregular schedule and always available for questions between sessions. We highly recommend him for anything you and your dog need! read more

Dave is an intelligent and compassionate person and trainer. I met him through a rescue that we both have done volunteer work with and clicked with him right off the bat. Due to his passion and positive methods I recommend him to anyone in need of a trainer. He has also helped me personally, with a brand new older rescue dog that I pulled out of a shelter and placed into my home. We were experiencing a challenge at night and resource guarding, and Dave spent an evening with us teaching us how to read our new dog's behavior and the best ways to help him cope with things and become more secure. Dave is great. He knows so much about dogs, their behavior, and how to establish trust and rapport. He is straightforward, always checks in with detailed emails after a session, and answers any questions we might have. We've just begun working with Charlie, and Dave has a realistic approach to conceptualizing and training her with all her needs. His fees are also very reasonable! Dave is a fantastic trainer whose knowledge about and patience with dogs is matched only by his deep love for them. Having tried many trainers for our recalcitrant chihuahua, we gave up on even attempting to get her to behave within marginally acceptable norms. With Dave's help and only a few modification of our behavior, she is doing great! We highly recommend him! read more

We adopted our rescue dog back in May 2019 and have worked with Dave over the last few months to learn how to communicate with her. In that time, we have seen her make enormous strides. She started out as a highly leash reactive dog that would get overwhelmed in almost every new situation. I have to agree with all the other 5 star reviews: Dave is one amazing trainer. He is all about the dogs and his dedication and passion for them shines through. When I rescued my dog from Much Love, (a wonderful organization, I might add) I was offered a free consultation with Dave. I was so grateful for the logical and sound advice he gave me and my dog responded extremely well to what Dave taught me. When I found out he was teaching a beginning obedience class, I immediately signed up. My dog is now a very happy and confident boy and I am hoping Dave teaches an intermediate class as we'd like to continue learning new 'tricks.' We've engaged Dave Freyfus at the OCHS shelter to help us better understand our pupps and improve their kennel behavior all with the objective to increase their adaptability. It's been an eye opener and we are all very happy with Dave's techniques of positive reinforcement. I can't believe how easy it is to have the dog adapt and see the change in their behavior. This dude has a million 5 star reviews, what else can I say that everyone hasn't already? I recently "adopted" a pit/lab mix pup, in a house that already has two cats and a big chocolate lab who all sleep on the bed together and don't really know they are different species. My biggest concern was I would disrupt the sacred animal harmony of the household, mutiny would occur and the cats would kill me in my sleep. That didn't happen, 6 weeks in and I've got all the animals sleeping on the bed together. Two cats, two dogs. (and an occasional alien) We are still a work in progress, she's a puppy, I'm just a human - but Dave's help has been awesome and I don't know what I would have done without him. There were a few times when I thought, oh my god I'm in way over my head this puppy is going to drive me insane. Dave provided practical tips and techniques for dealing with it... That worked. Dave did a great job helping train our dog Marvin (and us)! He is very knowledgeable about positive reinforcement training and helped dispel some preconceived notions about dog behavior that we had heard over the years. You can tell that Dave loves what he does and doesn't consider this a "job". One of Marvin's issues was going crazy every time he saw another dog while on a walk. To help us with this, Dave brought his dog Halo to a training session, and we worked on slowly getting Marvin used to approaching her without freaking out. This is an example of Dave willing to go above and beyond to get the results we had hoped for. We were also impressed with how willing Dave was to help us anytime something came up between our sessions. Whenever we emailed him a question, he would respond with thorough and helpful suggestions. I have a terrier mix and a poodle mix that were having problems with leash aggression towards dogs and people. It was beginning to make our walks (3 times a day) miserable. After doing some research on trainers in the area, I contacted Dave. I'm so glad I did! Dave is extremely knowledgeable and is all about positive reinforcement. What makes him stand out the most is how much he genuinely cares about dogs. It is very clear that he wants to help owners give their dogs a happy and stress-free life. After only four sessions with him, I have seen an amazing improvement in both of my pups. They can calmly and confidently go on walks and they listen to me better. The reason why I don't bother answering your emails Mr. dog trainer, is because you didn't answer ours :) So I moved on to another trainer. I'm not related to any other dog trainer. I'm just a disappointed customer who you don't even remember, and it's funny to me how quickly you responded to the complaint here as opposed to my emails and phone calls. In the 2 or so months that Dave has worked with my 4yr old Maltese, Mickey, an incredible improvement in his behavior has occurred --wholly achieved through positive-based training. (What does that mean? Providing praise and food in lieu of shouts, choke-chains, and electric shocks as incentives to modify behavior.) Mickey experienced an attack from a large dog 3 years ago and a fall from a car window that resulted in 2 surgeries on his right hind leg last summer. These incidents greatly contributed to the little guy having fear, lack of confidence, and anxiety. Before our sessions with Dave, Mickey could not be taken to a dog park or out in public without a lot of drama going down. About 9 out of 10 on the hysteria scale. I am happy to say that I can now take Mickey to malls and public beaches with only a 3-4 out of 10 level occurring. His confidence has improved and his reactivity has decreased. I just "finished" training my dog Jack with Dave's help. But I'm not really finished because I know Dave will always be there for me if I have any questions or problems. Not only is he a great trainer, he really cares. Dave is an expert at reading a dog's behavior and finding just the right way to make dog and owner happy. No "one size fits all" training here, he works with both dog and owner. The result is a personalized, amazingly quick result. We noticed instant results after our first session w/ Dave. Our dog Danger learned to sit, stay, and "leave it" after her first lesson. The reason for this success is that Dave realizes a big part of training a dog is educating the owners. We learned just as much if not more about the proper techniques of training as Danger did about behaving and being an awesome pet. Dave is great! In only 4 classes my dog Gaia went from growling and barking at him to French kissing him!!! He offers a free consultation to introduce himself and to get to know you and your dog and talk about what he thinks it should be done and how. I really liked this. He has a very busy calendar, but he was always able to accommodate my schedule. Classes are good to see how he interacts with the dog, but equally important, if not even more are the follow up emails he sends after the session. I found them very useful to have the information available at all times and he also sent me links to many different articles and videos depending on the subject discussed in the email. We adopted our dog in September, an extremely handsome 3-year-old collie mix (not biased at all!). Initially, our focus was leash training and ensuring our two cats' safety, as our cats are 10 and 12-yrs-old, and not defensively minded when it comes to setting boundaries with a 60 pound pup. Dave came highly recommended and our first session gave us the tools to leash train with positive reinforcement, and virtually "solved" how we dealt with our dog-cat interaction in our 2-bedroom apartment. And then... we had a biting incident in our home. We were distraught. Suddenly the cat socialization took a backseat, and our dog's fear and anxiety became our focus. Dave taught us how to recognize the slight signs our dog gave off when stressed (he suggested a previous owner possibly trained out the more obvious fear signs, such as barking/growling, thus taking "the tick out of the time bomb"). With Dave's expertise, care, and guidance, we were able to approach our dog as the unique creature he is, a daunting task when you know zilch about his back story! Through diligence and patience, our dog is a changed man, getting more confident and trusting every day. Dave truly cares. He goes above and beyond in helping train pet and human, through the psychological ups and downs, the confusion, the second guessing, he's there with terrific advice, an article, a word of encouragement. This review should've definitely been made a lot earlier, but we want everyone to know how amazing Dave is. We have a very fearful, anxious, nervous dog, Nisa, and from the moment Dave stepped through the door, you could tell that he empathized completely with her. He truly wanted her to succeed, feel more confident, and reduce her fears and anxieties. He was so patient with her, and he gave us lots of advice, exercises, recommendations, and so forth to tailor training specifically to her needs. We've been following his insight ever since we stopped seeing Dave a few months ago, and Nisa has been so much better since then. She still has fear, anxiousness, and all that, but you can tell that she's really getting better as we apply everything that Dave had taught us. Dave has truly exceeded our dog-training hopes and expectations. Prior to meeting Dave, we worried that our dog would not be receptive to training. Our dog failed miserably during group-classes at Petco, and we felt defeated when it came to potty training. Dave was able to articulate our dog's behaviors and needs, and he taught us successful training strategies. As Dave explained, our dog had a lot of "piss and vinegar" to him, and we needed to teach him how to channel his energy in an appropriate manner. Within the first few minutes of our consult, Dave had already taught our dog a self-soothing method that he continues to use when he gets riled up. It is amazing to see how much progress Dave has been able to make with our dog, Disco, in just a few sessions. Our dog went from being an uncontrollable jumper, biter, and accident maker, to becoming a calm(er), self-soothing, potty trained pup. This is all attributed to our sessions with Dave, and his knowledgable follow-up emails. Dave is also very personable and non-judgmental. I reached out to Dave because I was having a hard time with my dogs Gus & Oliver. The main issues that I wanted to work on were Oliver's nasty poop-eating habit, and both dogs' reactivity to other people and other dogs around us (either on the street during walks, or with friends in my apartment, etc.). Dave came over for a long (1+ hour), free consultation, asked a ton of questions, took notes on the observations that he made, and sent me a very long email the next day that outlined a ton of initial steps that I could take to improve both issues right away. For Oliver's bad habit, he recommended that I see a specific vet in my neighborhood (Palms) and that I ask about a dietary supplement that could turn the problem around. I did exactly that, and after 1-2 months of being on inexpensive supplements, his nasty habit was just a distant memory. (This sounds like a small thing - but I cannot tell you how much it improved my relationship with my dog when he finally broke this habit!) We needed to work in person to deal with my dogs' reactivity and behavior issues, so we met for two hour-long appointments (spaced about 1 month apart) during which he gave me lots of additional tips and tricks, did demonstrations for how I can better manage their behavior and hold their attention when they might be triggered by stimuli, and more importantly, made me realize that the most important (and first) step in working with my dogs is to take a step back, relax, and be patient. A lengthy and thorough email with more recommendations followed each appointment, which I continue to refer to whenever I need a refresher. If you need a patient, confident, and capable trainer to help you when you feel like you might be at the end of your rope, Dave is a sure bet! read more

Dave has taken the time to understand my very "special" dog and tailor his advice to her individual needs. The way that he interacted with her from our very first meeting helped my boyfriend and me understand what we could do to make her feel more comfortable and safe in her home environment (she was a street dog with an unknown past). Unlike other trainers I've consulted he won't try to "up-sell" you or convince you that you need more than you're willing to buy. And he's been great about giving me advice along the way, even when we don't have formal sessions booked. I could not recommend Dave more highly! read more

Dave is fantastic! He provided invaluable assistance getting our Lucy (chihuahua mix) less stressed and more focused when taking her for walks in our busy/noisy/distracting downtown LA neighborhood. Lucy made great progress under Dave's guidance but more importantly Dave taught us how to be better owners, reinforcing Lucy positively when needed, pushing her just enough, and avoiding situations where she's set up to fail. Moving forward we now have the tools we need to keep Lucy on track and making forward progress. The last thing I'd mention-- and this is something I really appreciated-- is that Dave is 100% about positive reinforcement only. Dave has been an amazing trainer and resource for me and my recently adopted a retired racing greyhound, Falkor. Falkor was friendly and to my eye didn't appear to have any serious behavior issues, but I sought out a trainer because I had trouble teaching him basic commands or even motivating him to do much of anything. Through our sessions, Dave has taught me to recognize his underlying anxiety and lack of confidence that was causing what I perceived to be general greyhound laziness. During our first session, Falkor got so excited that he starting chasing and throwing around his toys, something he had never done before. My neighbors have even noticed how much of a happier dog he is. He will now happily walk up to strangers on walks to say hi or take food from your hand. He now loves toys and gets excited to greet other dogs. His transformation through our training with Dave has been amazing. He takes such a gentle and calm approach to the training, which is something Falkor really responded well to. Dave is a master of canine body language, and made sure never to push Falkor more than he was ready to. He is also an amazing resource between sessions, always available with tips and advice on how I could work to build Falkor's confidence. read more

My last dog Rocky, a pit bull mix, had cancer and changed the path of my life forever. Rocky's 2-year 8-month battle made me realize I want - and need - to do more. Ultimately, I want to own a non-profit where low-income families can bring their pets with cancer and other long-term illnesses, and get the care they need. I was also tired of seeing all the choke, prong, and shock collars in today's world of training, as well as the reliance on dominance and fear-based tactics. We deal with the cause, not the symptom(s). We are proactive, not reactive! I ask all my clients a simple question: Do they want their dog to want to do a behavior or would they rather force/make their dog do it? A simple question, with an equally simple answer. Dave Dreyfus is a Certified Dog Trainer through Animal Behavior College. After educating owners and saving dogs in Connecticut, Dave has moved his talents to Santa Monica, and is eager to help you. He has been around and enamored with dogs since he was practically born. His end game is simple - to help dogs and their owners. He has the perfect blend of knowledge and great interpersonal skills - two values that make a complete trainer. Dave has volunteered for shelters and pet adoptions for many years. My life, our lives as a family are completely changed. Leonard Ludovico is the reason for that…read morechange. Life altering. I could not imagine the change in which I am now living on the daily, but it's real. It's a life I always wanted with my dog, a life I previously thought impossible. I looked long and hard for a qualified trainer, it was all the same BS, none of it would have helped this dog. I have a dog that I love, she is a Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd Mix and she became too hard to handle. A high drive dog, needing more than I could give at the time, who became unruly often savage even. At the forefront: Extreme anxiety, separation anxiety and an unruly nature of alertness that did not comply with said anxiety. Overprotective, disobedient, barking and lunging and terrorizing little and big dogs alike-- she was lost in terrible moments, unable to hear or care for us while she was lost in that world of anxiety. Elevators, car rides and anything that involved society became a big problem. We had to take her to the bathroom at the crack of dawn or in the middle of the night only, our lives became a big bubble of stress. I thought I was going to live a sacrificial life for this dog and just endure the pain and torture that anxiety created and leaked onto us.. it sucked. I did not anticipate a near-attack-like situation to happen, but eventually it did. Thank God I reacted quick enough to prevent said accident and no contact was made, but it happened and it was my fault and the person it happened to lied and tried to have my dog and me punished. Thank God again for my my love of tech, because I had cameras and proof that this POS person was lying, alas, the fault was my own for not having a handle on this animal, I found Dominant Dogs, Leonard Ludovico changed everything. I knew from the moment I met him, we had a chance.. I spoke to a lot of people, met with trainer x, y, z and Q, none of them gave me confidence, Leonard was the outlier. I'm going to tell you some of how Leonard has helped us, much of it I didn't even ask for, this man is a Godsend. She doesn't lunge or bark or react to dogs anymore, not even reactive ones. We can be walking on the same side of the sidewalk and, well, she's often the star of the show. If there is an inkling of an issue. A quick "leave it" and a leash correction and she stops.. and the initial response to seeing them, she might look their way, but even as that same dog reacts, mine really, does not. Holy. She is often confused with a service animal now, people ask me how I did it, I have no clue, Leonard did it. I'm just honoring the training he gave us both. The barking has stopped at night and in the morning. People passing our front door/balconies/hallways.. she lets us know once, here and there, but ultimately a completely different dog. Little dogs are no longer a problem.. Humans aren't a problem, big dogs, I have moved seamlessly through crowds with her by my side.. World Cup games at Century City Mall, people on top of us practically, she is incredible now. She listens, her attention isn't perfect to us, she is young still at 2 years old, but its getting better and the difference pre-Leonard is so drastic I can't even properly explain it... She looks happy, not fearful, her eyes have changed, she is more confident, we are more confident, she goes to the bathroom without being overly alert. She eats her food slowly now.. She chews and chomps the kibble, it crunches in her mouth, then she pauses and continues, her bowl used to be swallowed and gone in seconds, she now takes minutes.. I didn't expect this, Leonard just did it. I walk out of doors and through gates side by side with the animal and we move at a comfortable pace. The dog is not a menace anymore. She does not charge headfirst out the door anymore. She used to nuzzle at doors and doorknobs attempting to get out first like the lead dog of a sled or something.. The dog is now leash trained, obedient and by our side, but with care and protection, not the stress or hassle of pulling/barking, etc. She doesn't attack my hands anymore, she doesn't jump onto our bed and tear at the blankets to wake us up, she is a respectful lady now. She goes to outdoor restaurants with us now, laying or sitting by our side while we eat and calmly gets up with us when we leave. There is more, I can't fit it all. Dominant Dogs might be the answer to your dog's problems, your problems. He might be a dog whisperer, I do believe it to be true. We highly recommend working with Dee for any and all dog needs!…read moreWe rescued a 10 month old puppy this spring and added her to our family with two other dogs and a cat. Within the first week we discovered our new member was extremely anxious (she escaped once and was gone for hours), was up through the night and not housebroken. This prompted us to connect with Dee where we collaborated on our goals together, and set our focus on reducing anxiety, potty and crate training, and teaching hand signals to keep our pup from bolting out the door. Two months later, we are THRILLED to report that our puppy's anxiety levels are down dramatically, she is 99% potty trained, fully crate trained and sleeping through the night and not a single attempt at an escape. An added bonus is seeing the benefit all of this has had on our other dogs and how quickly the puppy and cat were able to integrate. We did our meetings with Dee over FaceTime, starting at 3 to 4 times a week, and naturally decreasing as Dee's program was so effective. Dee is extremely knowledgeable, provides clear instruction, and has a way of explaining situations from a dog's perspective that makes it easy to understand the interventions. Scheduling time with her was easy. We greatly appreciated her being firm about following guidelines because it kept us on track. However, she is also understanding and flexible when we expressed needing adjustments based on our own lifestyle or goals for our family. We have a calm and cohesive family and are beyond grateful for Dee who was integral in this process.

Dee was so concerned and patient and attentive, helping me understand how to give Ros choice and not make her feel pushed while still encouraging her to participate in life again. Within two days she had come out from under my desk and started interacting with me and the other dogs. I will always be so grateful to Dee for helping her!

Unfortunately, this place was a HUGE disappointment and had a huge negative impact on our pup. Long story short -- Everything here is a sales grab. The few girls care for the animals but the "managers" and men there are just there for the commission of your packages. I had a whole conversation about their unethical sales pitching with the employee while picking up my dog lol. It's "how they keep the place open" - the employee's words, not mine. Astounding. Said employee also asked what I did for a living because I questioned their sales pitch tactics -- I'm in sales. Also, If you need their VIP services for your unspayed or neutered pup, please spend your money elsewhere!! Before committing to a membership, we did a trial day and spent hundreds on drop in days, grooming, and overnight boarding to see if it was a good fit for our high energy pup. Our dog is not neutered and we don't plan on getting him neutered so we chose their VIP rooms. His breed is also extremely high energy and they promised they could accommodate. I also inquired about training multiple times and they kept saying the trainer would contact me. Everything went great after those few visits, they seemed caring and said he was a great fit for a membership so we end up signing up. Then everything went downhill. Upon the first day of the membership, our dog all of a sudden had behavior issues and needed to be picked up. In the middle of my work day I call the shift manager, and he states that if we want our dog to stay, he needs training ... (from their same trainer that I've inquired 3x about before committing to a membership, still haven't heard back). I asked why this wasn't communicated ever before committing to a membership and they didn't have an answer. I informed them that I would've paid for training before committing to a membership if they would've let me know that there were any issues. Our dog went a couple of more times until they could finally get me in touch with the trainer, 6 visits later. Actually I had lost complete trust at this facility. To add insult to injury, I was able to speak to one of their actual workers that is with the dogs and she let me know that our dog is only let out for about 10 minutes at a time, maybe 3 to 4 times a day during a 12 hour stay. This is their VIP option. So not only is he left in a room for about 12 hours a day, with dogs barking all around him, he's not being stimulated nor played with just being let out to go to the bathroom. Contradicting everything they say that they offer. Their "trainer" is also a joke. He is supposed to be from the Marines and well-versed in the breed of dog that we have. Upon washing him for 5 minutes, as I was told, he said that our dog needed to be neutered before he could be trained because of his energy. Our dog is a Malinois and is not supposed to be neutered before 2 years of age. We've since went elsewhere to get our dog trained from someone who is actually educated on his breed and he's worked on all of his anxiety and reactivity issues that our pup got because of this place.

I know I have thanked you before for providing us with Bentley ( kennel name Red Baron) sadly last month he passed away after giving the honor of being him Mom and Dad for over 12 years. Red Baron was underweight with a hematoma on his tummy and thin wiry hair he was scared of men and rolled on his back or tried to hide when approached. Lots of love and care gave him the most beautiful thick wavy coat he filled out and we would get stopped all the time by people remarking 'what a handsome dog' ( so handsome we had DNA done he was yorkie cocker and pointer!) he never did anything wrong he came house-trained, he didn't lick or jump or beg only barked when someone was at the door and was gentle and calm, his best friend was the cat next door. Dave is amazing! We have a rescue who is generally a sweet girl, but she was an excessive barker. She barked when we left the house, she barked when we entered the house, she barked at guests, or at the slightest noise outside. We had grown extremely frustrated with her when we contacted Dave. He has been amazing! We were initially so impressed when he offered to do a free consult where he would come meet us and our dog and assess "fit." Dave stayed for over an hour and told us all about his training philosophy and took a comprehensive history of our dog's problems. Every other trainer I contacted wanted to charge $150 or more for an initial consult session. From our first meeting it was clear to us that Dave is truly passionate about what he does. He's also just a super nice guy! After our initial meeting we decided to go with a 4 pack of private lessons. We immediately saw results after our first session, and we felt like we had some control over our dog (when we previously felt we had none). It is amazing how much progress we have made with just four sessions. There is still work to do, but we made great strides with Dave's help. We will definitely be arranging for more lessons. read more

Dave happied our little family. I moved in to my boyfriend's, and his dog's, place with my litter terrier (Monkie). His dog, Johnny Cash, was not havin' it. He simply isn't a dog, dog. And Monkie can be feisty, and sassy. Needless to say, it was causing tension in our relationship. They were getting into physical altercations almost on the daily and we had to play big brother at all times. And it was the pits. Then Dave swooped in. He was cool as a cucumber. He asked us a lot of questions at our first (complementary) visit and we were sold. I'll try not to gush (as everyone else has done that for me), but Dave helped keep our little family together. He's all about positive reinforcement. Which we loved. He gave us tons of tools to work with for keeping peace in the home. The progress we made even surprised Dave! We now have two happy dogs and two happy humans living in harmony (I mean, we still have work to do when it comes to letting them play with toys but that's cause we haven't kept up on the training). Dave was very honest with the number of sessions and told US when our training was complete. He's really the best (da bess). read more

Our 1 1/2 year old Vizsla, Jasper, had been through basic obedience training and could heel, sit, stay, come, etc. However, he could be very difficult in certain situations which we had no idea what to do about. He barked and lunged at people on the street and even at some of our friends when they came to our house. He had sudden fits of craziness, where he ran around and growled and snapped at us. A friend recommended Dave, and we arranged a consultation. It was love at first sight for Jasper, who took to Dave immediately. Jasper has always been so skittish around strangers, so it was amazing. Dave was so gentle and patient with Jasper, and his use of positive rewards had an immediate effect. Most importantly, Dave helped us understand Jasper's anxiety and how greatly it effected his behavior. He showed us how to shape his behavior in difficult situations through positive reinforcement. He gave us tips on how to deal with many of the problems we were having. I also appreciated Dave's honesty that Jasper would always be a demanding dog, but we now have strategies to deal with him. We think Dave is the best, and highly recommend him! read more

We adopted our 1 1/2 year old doxie mix, Sable, two months ago. She is a loving dog but all over the place and difficult to manage/control. Our vet recommended some daycare to help her with socialization issues; the daycare (which we love!) suggested calling Dave for some training. Dave came and did his evaluation and magic with Sable. She can now sit, go into a down position, leave it, and walking with her is much improved after following his suggestions. Now she will also wait patiently while we get her food ready instead of racing to the bowl the moment the food was being placed in it. Feeding time is now a pleasure for everyone. We loved his patient, individualized and thoughtful problem-solving. It was very impressive to see how he finally coaxed Sable into the down position after trying a number of methods which weren't working. He clearly loves what he is doing and Sable clearly loves him, as do we. Dave also helped train us in understanding both Sable and our roles and expectations in making our life with Sable more enjoyable and manageable for all of us. Bottom line: so glad Dave came into our lives! read more

Dave is a FANTASTIC dog trainer, and it is obvious after spending just a couple hours with him how much he cares about dogs. I have a four month old puppy who was driving me crazy with her refusal to walk on a leash. Our walks became more a battle of wills than an actual walk. No amount of treats, toys, praise, petting, pulling, etc would get her to move. I know because I tried it all. Then came Dave, who in one hour turned walking my puppy from something I dreaded to something I look forward to--IN ONE HOUR. Working with Dave was such a positive experience and he turned what I thought must be an insurmountable problem into just plain no big deal. I'm so grateful that he didn't make me feel like a bad dog owner and calmly explained how to fix the problem. As if that wasn't enough, Dave is also willing to answer questions outside of a session. A quick email with a question was answered within a matter of hours. Do yourself a favor and use Dave as your dog trainer. read more

I found Dave at the recommendation of another Assisted Living Community. He is beyond amazing! He is so patient and loving to our Golden-doodle Noel. She is still a puppy and we bought her for our Assisted Living facility to be a Therapy Dog for the residents. She is so well trained by Dave, his training seems to come so natural, and myself and Noel both feel so relaxed when he is here. His ideas and information are so helpful and he always follows up after his visits with a email detailing what he taught and things to work on from the training session. The only thing Noel and I are upset about is that we wont be seeing him weekly anymore for the training, as our sessions are about over. Besides being an amazing trainer, and having a true heart for loving animals, he is also a cool,funny guy. He will be greatly MISSED at our community. Anyone that hires Dave for training will be beyond impressed, I am sure of that. read more
