David came to help us with our blind dog, Mishka. Mishka didn't want to walk with anybody except me and my husband. She didn't let our dog-walker near her. At the end of the session, Mishka had taken treats from our dog-walker's hand, she fell asleep with her head on our dog-walker's arm and she walk a little bit with our dog-walker (with me a little bit ahead of them). We could feel that she was really more relaxed near our dog-walker. David gave us a lot of informations on how to build that new relationship, he was really patient and clear. Update : After 4 days, Mishka was happy to see our dog-walker but didn't want to walk with just her, she was always searching for my scent. I texted him and he called me back the same day, giving me some tips. The next day I left the house 10 minutes before our dog-walker, and with some patience, Mishka accepted to walk. I was far away from them on the other side of the street, she didn't smell me, she was happy. We went on our vacation and Mishka was happy and excited every time the dog-walker came. read more

David met us at our home in Santa Monica and spent 3 hours with us and our pup, Autumn going through intensive exercises ranging from basic obedience, how to manage and communicate with our dog and how to read her body language. David taught us the essential skills for understanding and managing our dog's behavior, and equipping us with tailored tools and exercises to facilitate Autumn's learning journey. Thank you Dog Gone Problems and David for sharing your expertise and knowledge with us!! read more

We loved David and our session with him. He gave us some great tips on how to get our 2 y/o lab under control when people come into our house. David also helped with his jumping issues. It's been a few weeks since our session and I can already see major improvements with our lab. I would recommend David and Dog Gone Problems to anyone! He is the best! read more

I didn't meet this individual, I only called to ask him few things regarding dogs. What a guy, what a nice guy. He took his time and explained me everything and anything I need to know. Very knowledgeable guy, I'll definitely call him. read more

Excellent dog training! Our dogs (Lola and Gizmo) were fairly rowdy, but within the first hour of training the dogs were taking the training very seriously. Barking during walks was one of the problem behaviors Dog Gone Problems was able to help with. Dave was able to teach our dogs the FOCUS command, which has been helpful during dog outings. The training was friendly, easy, and incredibly helpful. He also makes training videos for you and posts them on his website so you have a quick and handy reference after the fact. Really an exceptional service! read more

David is amazing. I recently adopted a little pitbull boxer mix named Blackjack and she has some self control and aggression issues. David came to our house and worked with us one-on-one and his advice and knowledge about dog psychology was truly eye-opening. Completely changed my view on how to interact with dogs. If you have any problems at all with your furry friend I feel confident David can help. read more

We hired David because my daughter wanted to take her dog, Kona, back up to school with her, but the dog was having issues with separation anxiety. David explained the possible reasons behind the separation anxiety, gave us several exercises to create more structure in Kona's life, and gave us detailed instruction on how to get Kona used to the portable kennel. He also taught us how to walk Kona so she's no longer pulling at the leash, but walks very calmly beside us. It was a long, 3+ hour session, with so much information that it seemed like I wouldn't be able to remember everything, but once nice feature about David's session is that he does a video recording at the end that summarizes everything, and the recording is posted on his website so you can go back to review. David has also encouraged us to cell or text in case we have any questions in the future, which is great. read more

We live with two 7 year old dogs that have a laundry list of issues (barking/aggressive, anxiety, horrible leash behavior, demanding attention, etc). After hearing a good friend's success story with Dog Gone Problems and her senior dogs, we were hopeful that David could help us, and he did! His positive approach was just the type of training we were looking for. We have been implementing his techniques for over a week and we are seeing big changes in the behavior of our dogs. David's knowledge, passion, and commitment to improving the lives of dog families is evident in his service and support. read more

David is so knowledgable! It's a no brainer to hire him. He literally solves problems with one visit - and makes you a personalized video if you need a refresher course. Alfred is now the best behaved dog on the block! read more

WOW!!!! So totally awesome to be connected with David so he could show myself and my boyfriend what seems to be all the keys to unlock all the behavior problems we've been having with our Carolina/German shepherd mix Sonny. What a relief to find a trainer that works directly with your dogs specific issues and shows you how to correct behaviors with simple steps that are easy to do on a daily basis - no problem. Plus one of the BEST parts about it, is he does it all in one session!!! WONDERFUL! I had no idea that was even possible. Also if you have any more questions or forget a step he showed you, he is very accessible and easy to get in touch with for more info. However, we found it very easy to retain all the info we learned from our session, since you practice it with him. I had what seemed like fifty questions and concerns about how to correct Sonny's leash pulling, jumping on people, endlessly barking when he hears a knock at the door, stealing shoes and burying them in the yard, laying on the furniture, begging, sniffing peoples food, chewing on things that aren't his toys, also more behavior issues of trusting people - to not run away, calm his energy down when around a lot of people, to listen when we give him commands and to make him understand that my boyfriend and I are the leaders and he is the follower - not the opposite. Thrilled that he could show us how to create a happy pet/owner relationship. We can now communicate to Sonny using our body language, a few simple commands, and eye contact or lack of eye contact. It's only been 5 days since we saw David last week and Sonny has already shown a big improvement in his bad habits. David showed how to use a Martingale collar and short leash to correct is leash pulling which miraculously worked, just by giving a quick tug on the leash when he starts to charge ahead, sniff, look for cats, squirrels ect. and mark his territory. This was especially exciting since walking can now be fun for Sonny and for us. I have to say that it was so nice that David comes to your house to work with you. Such a big help to have him there to see Sonny in his environment. The fact that David arrives and addresses every single issue that you have meant a lot to us. The session ends after you and he feel content and confident that your getting the hang of it. I was thrilled to have learned so much and feel totally equipped to steer Sonny in the right direction now. Also David is a super nice person! I found myself cracking up several times in our session because he has a great sense of humor some hilarious ways of explaining things about dogs!! He is absolutely the best dog behaviorist!!!! David's expertise and knowledge really impressed us! We are SUPER happy with the results and will tell everyone we know with dogs that could benefit from this so they can get the same wonderful results!! read more

We were referred to David by our neighbor and at first I was skeptical. Our dogs weren't a major problem, "why spend the money?" I thought to myself. The techniques we learned seemed intuitive and while the session was in progress, I wondered if it was even necessary. Now that time has passed I can unequivocally say, it was worth every penny. Our dogs are more disciplined and demonstrating behavior I didn't even know I wanted to see from them. I'd never considered a dogs self esteem before, but nurture it and before you know it, you'll have a confident pup who's right in step with what you expect. David helped us in areas we didn't even know we needed help with and continues to be available via text with any refreshers or tips. BIG eye opener. I'll for sure refer him to anyone with willful pets. Thanks David! read more

David was very helpful with our Tijuana Rescue, Bear, who barks when people come to our apartment. He faced Bear's barking problem head on and gave us some helpful tips that we have been applying. We are continuing to work on the techniques he gave us and are starting to see positive changes. read more

David was incredible! We have two adorable but spoilt dogs, who needed some rules and structure in place. David equipped us with the tricks and showed us how some of our simple gestures were encouraging these poor behaviours. Its been 3 days and we've seen sucha . dramatic difference. They listen to us, they respect commands and the barking has decreased drastically. read more

David was great and very knowledgeable. He came to our house and trained our maltipoo, Mellow. Mellow is barking less and easier to go out with on walks. He used to be a huge leash puller, not anymore! I definitely recommend David! read more

I would highly recommend David as a trainer/dog behaviorist. I had a difficult time finding a trainer in LA to take our case on and no one else is as qualified. If you are having issues with your dog contact David for help. I know I would have never gotten the thorough information and support from any other "trainer" in LA. David has helped us (Karina and I) with behavior issues. He went through all scenarios thoroughly and helped me understand how to make Karina feel more secure and have more confidence in me as the leader of the pack. Thank you so much David! read more

My foster dog, Carol, had some serious aggression issues when we met with David. He spent a couple of hours in my home with us, and gave me tons of tips to help with these problems. I've put these tips into action and have seen so much improvement in her behavior. I couldn't say enough good things about David and his process -- he's helped so much! read more

David was great, very focused on practical training methods that could be easily applied. We have seen immediate improvements in our dog's behavior. It's also nice that he focuses on positive reinforcement rather than punishment and dominance. read more

I had one of the best experiences working with David, from Dog Gone Problem. He is very informative and has a great way to explain things that help you understand how your dog "sees" and learns things-which points out how important it is for ourselves to act accordingly. I have a lovely but misbehaving pooch, nevertheless, he was at easy, because David works at the right pace. Will def recommend him! And will be using his guidance to help my dog find the confidence he needs and well as help myself by implementing David's tools and behavioral changes to lead my dog to a more complete and healthy life. Thank you! read more

David really knows his stuff. It's been 4 days since he was here and I see a marked improvement in my dogs behavior. The session wasn't about getting my dog to do or not do things... that's the natural result, but it was about understanding how my dog interprets my actions and responses and learning to act and respond differently so that he wants to do what I want him to do. I have a VERY high energy 8 month old frenchie/ maltipoo who is also a heavy chewer. It takes a lot of practice to change the way I work with my puppy and David's been super available to support as anything comes up. If you want to actually understand your dog, how he/ she learns and interprets what you're doing, David's your guy. My puppy is now learning to respect me as his leader rather than just obey commands. read more

David helped us with our 4 year old dog who was occasionally showing aggression to other dogs on walks. Instead of just "training" her to walk without growling, he got to the root of the issue. He noted various things that we were doing that signaled to our dog that she was our protector. We started implementing small changes around the house and in less than a week she was already less aggressive and more calm on walks. Can't recommend David highly enough! read more

My session with David was incredible! I have a very stressed out, not a fan of strangers shiba inu (Max). David approached Max in a way that I wish everyone did! Max loved him and was crawling all over him, which is very unusual. I explained what I wanted to work on with Max and David quickly analyzed what needed to be done and we spent hours discussing and practicing ways to lower Max's stress levels (and therefore his aggression). He gave so much great insight, advice, and recommendations. He even recorded a 30 minute, completely comprehensive video for me and my husband that went over everything we did in our session. Highly recommend! read more

David has been so helpful as we try to raise a high energy puppy and a family in a small LA apartment. Honestly his tricks have made owning our dog pleasurable again. She is listening and respecting us so much more and she's doing less naughty digging and destroying less of our stuff. read more

David really help my husband and I with our Italian Greyhound Boxer mix puppy. Her name is Rosie and she had horrible separation anxiety and we couldn't even leave her 5 mins without barking/crying. But with the tool David gave us she learned in no time to be more comfortable staying home alone!! Which made us so happy so we could go back to have date night again !! Thanks again David! We highly recommend him!!! read more

David has been very helpful with my puppy Tesla. She has already started being more respectful, listening to me more, and chewing on things less - and that is after 2 days of changes. After the first training session, my puppy was also overwhelmed (we changed a few too many things for her according to David) and started barking when I left unfortunately (she had rarely barked prior). People in my apartment building weren't happy. David acknowledged that we may have changed too many things at the same time. However, after that initial session, David has been more than available over text, phone and even in person for extended periods of time to help properly train her to not bark. We are working to get her to not bark and David has been checking in on progress every day. Thanks David! read more

David provides great and easy solutions to help your dog, and more importantly, to help you help your dog. Couldn't recommend him enough.

David really knows his stuff! He is really patient with my dogs and me. He spent almost 4 hours training my dogs and teaching me what I need to do to stop the issues I have with my two dogs. One of my dog is very dog reactive so in a controlled environment, he taught me techniques to expose my dog to other dogs and how to stop the aggressiveness. David is always available even after the session is over to answer any questions I may have and gives me thorough advice on what to do. He breaks down why my dogs were behaving a certain way and told me exactly what to do to correct it. I would recommend David to anyone having dog problems and wants some professional help! read more

Thank you Dog Gone Problems! We have finally resolved an issue that we have been putting up with for years!. Otherwise a calm dog, Bailey, would bark and run his paws raw around the pool if my children were in the water. David got the whole family involved in the training and we have also addressed other issues such as begging for food. I was in awe when I would witness other people's well trained dogs, but I'm confident our dog is well on his way. David gave us a plan (verbal and written), he clearly explained why the dog was behaving a certain way and how we could change it, and he continues to follow up with us. David has a true talent and love for his work..it shows in every aspect of his business. read more

David is amazing. When we got a new dog that was being quite aggressive towards our older pup, David stepped in to save the day. He gave excellent hands-on and personalized advice about how to correct both dogs' (as well as our own) behavior. He even followed up and answered additional questions after the session by email and phone. But most important are his results: by following his guidance for just two weeks, our dogs' behavior is absolutely transformed, and now the two are best friends. Worth every penny. read more

David is great! He was referred to us from a rescue after several training attempts didn't work for our dog. He spent almost 4 hours with us. Retrained not just our two dogs, but us too! We have changed everything about how we interact with our dogs and what we do everyday. It hasn't been easy for us to change so much but IT WORKS! After David left, our dogs were like new dogs. They knew something had changed and their behavior changed instantly. We are still working on little things here and there but they fundamentally changes in just a few hours. David is so worth it! Even more so because he is there to help you for life! He is so quick to text or call you back if you have an issue or something that isn't working. He takes pride in what he does and wants to ensure you and your dog are happy. Thank you David for helping us with our new rescue pup and helping us to prepare our home and pups for our new baby boy! read more

David -- in three hours -- was able to completely change the way we communicate with our 2 year old Australian shepherd, Bowser. Bowser had developed really bad habits. He would charge the door at every sound, bark relentlessly at anyone entering the house - even friends who come over everyday. Walking him on a leash was a nightmare - he lunged, pulled, barked non-stop, tried to attack skateboarders. We were at a loss and found David on the internet. He came over and within minutes taught us what WE had been doing wrong. We did some easy exercises with Bowser and instantly saw a whole new calm dog. We took the best walk of our life and he even passed a cat without reacting. Since then, we have practiced the exercises David taught us and are so happy - and so is Bowser. Cannot recommend David enough! read more

I reached out to David in order to help me with some training for my foster dog, Roscoe. Roscoe is a sweet boy, but I needed to learn how to teach him manners. He is still a puppy and has puppy traits, so I needed assistance to get him as adoptable as possible. David reached out to me the very next day and we had a nice chat about what exactly I was looking for. Thank God David had an opening the very next week and he came to my home and spent more than 3 hours helping me to address Roscoe's areas that need improvement. It was so informative since he was not just telling me what to do, but reasons why it helps. It was eye opening (and kind of a rude awakening) that what I do, truly does effect Roscoe. So, not only was David awesome on the day of our visit, he has proven to be completely available and willing to help even AFTER the session. I ran into a situation with Roscoe where I needed to talk to David and he picked up my call immediately and took as much time as I needed to talk it through. It was so incredibly comforting to know he was not just ghosting me after our session. I am still working with Roscoe, but am already seeing improvements. I know I need to work on being consistent in what I do, but I know if I have any questions, David will be right there to help. I could not recommend him enough. I will keep everyone posted on Roscoe's improvement! read more

Absolutely the BEST. We called David in to help our three dogs stop marking, fighting, growling at other dogs and being overall extremely disobedient ! After 5 hours in our home, David transformed our dogs (well maybe he transformed US!). Our three dogs needed rules and structure that David helped us implement. He is a wonderful behaviorist and has changed the way our dogs behave after one lesson. He taught US it is more about US than them. Our dogs are brand new and we owe that to David! read more

David was amazing! We had two pugs that I thought were beyond training, but David had them obeying commands within an hour. I wish I'd called him years ago. Best of all, he's totally accessible after the session for any follow up questions. read more

Our 9 year old Bichon, Lila has been the baby for a long time. She's had a hard time adjusting to our 11 month old baby boy. We really enjoyed working with David. His insights were right on target. We have been working for a week on modifying our behaviors with Charlie and Blue, and have already started to see some changes. We still have a way to go with Blue to stop his aggressive reactions toward other dogs on our walks, but we are committed to making him a more peaceful dog. I highly recommend David and Dog Gone Problems for your dog behavior issues, be prepared to take a look at your own behavior with your dog. read more

David helped us enormously with our out of control 5 year old cocker spaniel! He was very patient listening to the issues we were having and took his time with us. Not once in our session with him did we feel rushed. Everything was explained at length and exercises repeated to ensure we were doing them correctly. Our dog was previously a nightmare to walk and pulled a lot on the lead and became very stressed on walks. We now have a very calm and well trained dog and now have no qualms walking him. This was major for us! He is also eating his food when previously he wouldn't. He doesn't get on the furniture and seems to understand that we are authority figures as well as people who love him. He just seems a lot happier and calmer! David also cured his incessant barking which he used to do all day. We have tried other trainers in the past but David was truly wonderful! Don't hesitate in booking with David you will not regret it. We are delighted we did! Thank you David! read more

All in all, I am impressed! We contacted David to help us with our 6 year old rescue, Winston. When we got Winston, he was pretty much fully trained and a very calm, sweet dog. Over the last year (probably because we baby him so much!), he's developed a number of issues, such as separation anxiety, barking at neighbors, barking/going after other dogs on walks, and more. David spent close to 4 hours at our place, observing Winston, showing us a ton of tips and tricks, and getting some rules in place for our furry little dude. I can honestly say I'm blown away with the results...and our training session was just yesterday. Already, Winston is walking better on a leash, listens when we tell him to get off furniture or to stay in his bed, and seems much more relaxed in general. I know it will take some time and practice to get him exactly where we'd like him to be, but the progress in such a short time leads me to believe we'll have a much happier, more peaceful pup in the near future. Thanks so much, David! read more
