Super-great experience! Money well spent! Sam was our trainer and she is extremely knowledgeable, has tons of experience, and also really customized the training to me and my dog's unique needs/wants--meeting with us in different locations, working within our schedule, and designing sessions to adapt to the specific things we wanted to focus on. This is not a one-size-fits-all "program." Instead, the entire training was really built around us and what we wanted to get out of the sessions. And I feel like I learned a ton from Sam at each and every session. One thing I've heard from friends is that their trainers ask them to do things they don't feel comfortable with, or that don't really make sense for their particular dog. This was not the experience with Tully's at all--instead, there was a lot of back-and-forth about what would work best when suggestions were made, and Sam always provided several "ways in" to address different issues. My girlfriend and I became the owner of a very sweet mini dachshund puppy (Nellie), and wanted to make sure she received basic manner + leash training from a young age. Because she was still in the midst of her vaccinations, we went to Tully's for the in-home private lessons, and they were amazing. Our trainer, Trudy, showed a genuine love and passion for the work she does, and did a great job of teaching Nellie as well as myself/my girlfriend. The lessons she taught built off of each other, going from very simple to more advanced / with distractions. Trudy was able to schedule Nellie's graduation after she was cleared to walk in the street, and we had a fantastic afternoon watching Nellie explore safely while still retaining the lessons she had learned. After my chihuahua mix Harley turned 5, I thought her reactivity was pretty much embedded into her personality. Walks would be so stressful since my sweet little girl would turn into a demon dog every time another dog passed by. The dog owner glances at me with a disapproving side eye as I try to assure them that my dog is actually really sweet.... Then the glorious Trudy came in and turned our world around! My 6 year old maltipoo needed a refresher course for her leash walking / reactivity. I had a free consultation with Lisa who recommended 3 sessions. Focused problem: Barking and pulling at the leash when she sees another dog. She is completely fine with dogs otherwise - she gets along with them great, loves meeting new dogs, plays with them, etc. However she turns into a different dog when she's on leash. Honestly I thought this was something that could never be trained away... Result: ...UNTIL Lisa came along and helped us!! My dog is MUCH better at listening to me when on leash. She actually listens to "focus" when I tell her to (with a treat for now) and she doesn't bark and pull at every dog she sees! It's amazing!! Tully training has been very helpful with my dog's training! I went for the private lessons because I wanted to be involved in my dog's education. First, I spoke with a consultant via video and assessed his threshold and what he already knows. Then went over what we wanted to work on during the program. Because my dog already knew his basics, (sit, down, stay, break, crate, place etc.) they sent a hybrid specific schedule and set us up with a trainer. We had Trudy, who was wonderful! Very intuitive in correcting me, the handler which is what I wanted but also was very attentive to my dog. She taught me not only how get my dogs attention and lessen his reactiveness but went into depth of why he maybe doing these things. Like humans, we go to a certain extent especially learning something new. So when my dog wouldn't listen, Trudy was very patient until he was ready to get back into the lesson. In between every session there's homework for you to nail what was taught during your last session and to be consistent rather learning and doing it that session and waiting til the next. After all 6 sessions, you'll meet with your trainer once more and they'll get a certificate! What I really appreciate is the lifetime support. Even if your dog has finished the program or graduated, they encourage you to reach out if you need help with anything or if any new issue comes up. We've had multiple trainers in the past and none of them have come anywhere near as good as Carol Ann! She was extremely perceptive of our dog's behavior and knew exactly what to do in each situation. Our dog is nervous around people and other dogs that she doesn't know and had a particularly bad time meeting new people when they would come to our house. After training with Carol Ann we no longer worry about having people over. She explained perfectly why our dog reacts the way she does and showed us how to prevent any extreme reactions. This is a review for Tully's Virtual Training over Zoom. I was initially skeptical about two things: 1) that my two little rascals could be trained to do anything, and 2) that training over Zoom would be an effective way to conduct a class. But I had tried an in-person training with another company and was extremely underwhelmed, so I decided to give this a shot. Fortunately, my skepticism was misplaced! My virtual trainings with Sam were amazing. Sam was super flexible with her schedule, even rescheduling just moments before our appointment when something came up on my end. And the classes themselves were simple, yet very effective. I actually think virtual trainings may be better than in-person trainings, for the simple fact that the dogs aren't distracted by a stranger and all of the lessons (at least in their eyes) are coming directly from me and me alone. Today, I'm armed with some great tricks that can be applied to many situations when these dogs were previously uncontrollable (and downright annoying!), and it's been a really fun way for us to bond. I found myself getting emotional on the last day of class when I reflected on how far we'd come (OK fine...yes, I cried!), and how I wish I had done this with my previous dog who passed away last year. read more

Trudy did everything at a really great pace and gave me things to work on in between sessions that were never too complicated for me on my own, without her being there. Jack and I did the 'homework' during the off days and that definitely helped A LOT when we would have another training. Trudy is absolutely wonderful and Tully's Training is a great company. It wasn't until we started the training that I realized how stressed I used to be. We couldn't walk within 60 ft of another dog without barking, growling and lunging, but Elizabeth has now provided me with the skills to redirect behavior. Probably all depends on which trainer you get assigned. But this training did not work for me or my dog at all - was a waste of time and money. True I had a very aggressive dog that ended up being returned to the rescue agency - so I only completed 3 of 8 sessions. But it would have been incredibly helpful if the trainer was willing to walk with the dog so she could observe the aggression issues I was dealing with and help me control. Would have been helpful to have a trainer that was experienced with muzzles. And it would have been helpful to have a trainer help practice what she was preaching. When it came to the topic of how to introduce guests in my home to the dog, she was not willing to actually perform that exercise, she just wanted me to take notes and do it on my own. She sent me a lot of articles to read - which was great, but its' not like i wasn't already doing that. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe my expectations were too high. read more

We completed a two month training with Iris and couldn't be happier. These past few weeks have been truly transformational for both our dog and us as owners. I was referred to this business from Healthy Spot. However I now already get disappointed my FIRST consultation. I filled in the form and a trainer named Iris reached out yesterday giving me some spot to choose. I chose today at 9am along with another alternative time and she confirmed the 9am it by sending a zoom link. I logged in at 9am, nobody was there. I waited for two minutes and then sent her an email, no response. Sent another email at 9:05, no response and no show up. Now it is 9:15 still nobody showed up. I decided to exit the meeting. Punctuality is important for dog training. I don't think no show and no explanation is the professional way to handle things. It was a waste of the other parties time. read more

The trainer needs a microphone. Very hard to understand everything being said with a mask and in a noisy parking lot. Also, for those of us that are not auditory learners a list of items to be trained should be emailed ahead. Furthermore, it was difficult to manage a squirmy puppy, treats and a clicker. LISA AIJALA is an absolutely AMAZING trainer! I hadn't gotten the chance to post about her on Yelp until now. But my dog is a COMPLETELY new dog now. No cap, no lie, all 100% truth. My boyfriend and I showed up with my rescued 4 year old pitbull at a park. My dog has a bad leg from being thrown out of or falling out of a second story window as a puppy by her previous owners (we don't know the full story). She is absolutely terrified of people. That first day, she barked at just about every single person and animal, literally dragged me back and forth across the park. She could barely sit still. My dog, Dream, is now 5. We worked with Lisa for about 5 months and she sits in the elevator even with other dogs/people inside. She sat through an entire meal with my family and I at an outdoor pub, full of people and dogs. I can take her to the park, even when other dogs are off leash and not be terrified. Seriously, the Best investment I've made. She's not perfect. She's still a rescue with loads of fear, but Lisa taught us so many ways to help Dream deal with that fear. She helped us understand what Dream is communicating to us through her body language. She's a much happier dog now. I know dog training can be expensive, but if you're willing to put in the work with your pup, it is SO worth the peace it will bring you later on. Claire is a miracle worker! Most of our training was learning to understand why our dog, Cairo, acts the way she does, and what we can do to help her. Cannot say enough good things about our experience with Tully's Training. We recently adopted our pup, Sofia (a pug chihuahua mix), in April and sadly, as with many rescue dogs, she came to us with separation anxiety. After sorting through so many different training programs/businesses, we finally decided to give Tully's a try, especially since they offered a free consultation with no strings attached. We spoke with Claire who was very nice and extremely thorough in her assessment. We opted to go through with a three month, private training program spear headed by our amazing trainer, Sam. She was incredibly patient and knowledgeable; Sofia was so excited to see her come through the door every week. Sofia's behavior from the start of the program to the end is night and day. While we still have work to do to make her 100% comfortable with staying home alone, she has gone from going berserk to quietly sitting on the top of the couch with an occasional bark/whine. Not only were we able to work on her separation anxiety, we also were able to touch on some leash work and steps to build her confidence. Friends have even told us what a difference there is in her behavior. It is important for owners to understand going through a training program is not going to be an overnight fix but a crucial learning tool for every dog parent.
