The first couple times we used Sitter4Paws we had a really great experience with the sitters that were assigned to our senior, diabetic cat. Last year, my mother unexpectedly passed away, and our regular cat sitter was unavailable for half of the trip home. We booked Sitter4Paws the second half of the trip, and let them know about the circumstances and requested sitters that had seen Jodie before so that we could rest easy during a very difficult time. Of course we know that can't always be accommodated due to scheduling, so for the first visit a new sitter came to see Jodie. On the evening of my mother's passing, we got a text from Sitter4Paws that the sitter felt he may have made a mistake with our cat's insulin dosage. It was revealed to us that instead of giving her her normal 2.25 unit dose, he gave her 22.5 units - ignoring the taped off/labeled syringes, our explicit written instructions in the app, and additional photos/diagrams of what a full syringe should look like. Thank god he realized his mistake, otherwise our cat would have slowly died alone in our apartment - and this would have happened immediately after losing my mom. I understand mistakes can happen, but the fact that a sitter was uncertain with potentially life-threatening medication if administered improperly and didn't even think to reach out to us first was quite shocking. Sitter4Paws took full responsibility, admitted their mistake, said they would take steps to make sure something like this would never happen again, and covered her 4 day ER stay, but it never should have gotten to that point. Again - we did have great sitters who took care of our cat wonderfully - but the uncertainty of who you can get especially with medication involved means that we can no longer recommend this service with confidence.

Allan is an incredible communicator, always letting me know when he's on his way and when he's safely back with Ripley through the Yo Dog App and text. The updates he sends are the sweetest, with so many amazing pictures of Ripley having a blast with the other pups. I especially love that he posts his Strava recap after their adventures. It gives me a great sense of how far they've walked and what kind of exercise Ripley got that day. As a dog owner himself, Allan truly understands how important it is to care for other people's animals as if they were his own. Luckily the staff at Yo Dog are all incredibly dog savvy and patient. Erik especially put in the time and effort to acclimate Remy to the process and make sure that he had a positive experience. Now Remy absolutely LOVES daycare (and especially loves when Erik comes to pick him up!) and pack walks and will happily hop to his spot in the van. The selection process is discerning but fair, ensuring the safety of the dogs. The scheduling is easy, prices reasonable, and variety of services is great. They also host open houses! It's cool to see the place, meet the staff and other dog parents, and watch your pup with their friends. Some daycares feel a little smoke and mirrors, but definitely not Yo Dog. We've now done day care, boarding and walks (including pick up and drop off while we're not home) with great results and without hesitation. Also the photo updates we get are hilarious!

They use an app that is easy to navigate, and they provide clear updates during their visits (you get notifications when the walker arrives and departs, photos and a written note about how it went, a map showing their walk route, and a checklist of the tasks that the walker completed). Their prices are also reasonable. It's a relief to have such a wonderful option for my dog when I'm out of the house for a longer period of time; I recommend!

During a scheduled walk, the walker lost my house keys, which had my full address labeled on them. I was in therapy and unable to respond for about 30 minutes. When I did, I had to explain that the keys were labeled with my address; only then did the company bring up calling a locksmith. As a result, my 10-year-old dog was left outside with the walker for an hour, and would have been outside for much longer if a friend hadn't picked him up. It took 3 hours to resolve this issue. The company did pay for the locksmith, but communication was limited unless I initiated it in regard to status of the locksmith, and the owner said she would look for the keys but did not. I was also charged a cancellation fee on a separate day, despite explaining I cancelled because my grandmother had passed away and I had stayed home from work. They also charge $10 extra for "a late booking". Based on this experience and the safety concerns involved, I would not use this service again. The owner communicated with me respectfully but again my safety (single woman living alone) and my dog's safety were jeopardized - while the issue was resolved I'm shocked it happened in the first place. I'm sure this company delivers great services outside of this mistake but I can't keep this to myself as it was extremely upsetting and has NEVER happened in my 10 years of being a dog owner using multiple services.

This review is LOOOONNNGGGGG overdue. I had gotten a Shiba Inu puppy 3 years ago that had to be…read morehospitalized due to Parvo the next day. Then, once he recovered from that, had a fever that almost killed him and had to be hospitalized again. We had to keep him quarantined for a while and away from my other dog (a 7 year old Pomeranian at the time) and get all his vaccinations from the beginning. He was scared of literally every single noise and had anxiety about just about everything. Over time, he developed extreme food aggression and we were worried for the safety of my little Pom. He had been attacked a few times to the point of actual injury and it was extremely stressful for everyone. I was at my wits end and I felt like I had tried everything to help Gunnar (my Shiba) and protect Simba (my Pom). I did a lot of research and stumbled upon Jenina and sent her a message for private sessions where she would come to my apartment once a week. I believe I only used her for a little over a month but I am eternally grateful. The level of aggression Gunnar displayed was so dangerous that my roommate and I actually have been bitten with blood trying to protect Simba from harm where food is involved. The issue was that he wasn't aggressive with all foods and we were unaware the extent until it was too late (ex. we thought it was only wet food so we were giving a chew stick to them separately where I would have Simba sitting next to me on the couch and Gunnar would be on the floor away from Simba with my roommate and the switch was so sudden----from sweet to seemingly no warning lunging at Simba----I stuck my leg out to protect Simba and he bit my leg instead). I feel like at this point, a regular human being would give Gunnar up, but that wasn't an option. It wasn't an option when he came to me dying from Parvo, it wasn't an option when he had an almost fatal fever, and it wasn't going to be an option for me now. I was determined to find a way to help him because he is my baby and my responsibility. The vet suggested I contact a behavioral specialist and when I did, VCA told me the earliest appointment they had was months later. Fed up with waiting, I found Jenina. In a month's time, she had given me the tools to fix a seemingly impossible situation. Make no mistake---she made me work for it. She might come across brash to some people but she is very direct and straight to the point. She doesn't coddle you and makes sure she lets you know what you need to do because while the session is for dogs, it is actually more like training the parent. She gives you "homework" and training info and is only willing to help you if YOU do the work. Now, it wasn't a complete fix. He still has anxiety outdoors or unknown noises as well as food aggression but it is nowhere near what he used to be. Before Jenina, Gunnar couldn't even take a step outside the apartment building let alone go for a walk. Three years later, Simba has sadly since passed but he has a little brother that he is extremely patient with as he acts like a typical annoying little brother), his food aggression has gone down from 100 to 30, and we go out to all sorts of places. He is THRIVING and this is all thanks to Jenina. My roommate and I are on high alert and know what to look for in terms of triggers and are very quick to de-escalate aggression situations. We try our best not to avoid known triggers and we work with him every day to allow him to be his best self. He is the sweetest boy and we are so glad he's been able to show it instead of being overshadowed by aggression and anxiety. She also gave Gunnar his nickname---Gunny! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I am so sorry it took this long to leave this review but thank you so much for saving us. If we had listened to the VCA behavioral specialist that basically called Gunnar a monster and suggested we give him up, he probably would have been euthanized somewhere. We owe you so much.

They were accommodating, responsive, and very proactive and handling what became a scheduling nightmare due to an unfortunate last-minute stop at the emergency room for our dog before heading off to boarding. The staff worked tirelessly over the Thanksgiving holiday to make sure that our dog, Rosie, got the care that she needed. The daily Pupdates were always our favorite part of the day, being away from her, and let us see that she was well taken care of. My senior dog Luke had his first walk with FitPals. Even though we live in Long Beach, sometimes Luke gets anxious when left home alone while I work in DTLA. So I brought him to work with me and I can say it was the best experience! I was SO nervous for him because I never leave his side and I didn't know if he'd be good or not with the dogs and pet sitters. But great news although timid at first Luke opened up shortly after a few minutes during the walk. And I got pictures, live gps, videos, and potty reports plus a very detailed report on his walk itself. FitPals is great. Very professional, thorough, and of course great with our dogs. We have one dog that is skittish from being attacked by a dog a few years ago. I told the FitPals team and they have been extra careful and also slowly have worked him into some group walks so that he can feel comfortable again with other dogs. Both our pups love the walks and we enjoy the "doggy logs" and photos we can see of their treks. Would definitely recommend FitPals. read more

We needed a place where we can trust our skittish and anxious rescue dog with. We also wanted her to have more opportunities for healthy socialization. After looking up dog daycare in our area, we decided to check out OHD due to all the 5/5 reviews on Yelp. We first had a phone call where Janet explained their program. She then helped us schedule an intake evaluation appointment. We were honestly so nervous. But our little Bella passed the evaluation and was accepted to the transition daycare program! The transition program is designed to help dogs who need more support to transition into the group play area. Some dogs are immediately accepted into group play. Lisa and Janet knew exactly what Bella needed in order to successfully transition to being with a larger group of different personalities. They are extremely knowledgeable about dog behavior. What we appreciate about this daycare is not only the quality of program and the people who work here, but also their strict policies. Every dog has to pass their evaluation in order to be admitted to the daycare. They also require all dogs to be vaccinated, including annual canine influenza vaccine. Not only that, but dogs who were sick cannot come to daycare for 30 days to protect other dogs from getting sick (jussst in case!). The pricing is also reasonable compared to other daycares in the area. It's been about four months since Bella began attending OHD and we have only had positive experiences so far. We also noticed improvement in her behavior. She used to often bark at other dogs out of fear, but we rarely observe that now. She is so much more comfortable around other dogs. She also walks into the daycare by herself without having to be carried. Overall, we are so glad we found OHD for our Bella and we recommend it with 1000% confidence!

I realized I had inadequate skills to help her give up leash aggression, dominance and prey drive towards small dogs. I turned to Rachel for help. Two sessions with Rachel, including pack walks and Berdoo was different. I didn't have to cross the street to avoid other dogs. She stopped trying to dominate. When Rachel told me Berdoo had played with her small dog, was gentle, letting the dog walk between her legs, I was amazed. After her training with Rachel and partner, the only time I remember scolding Berdoo was once for eating half of a sponge cake. She really became kind of perfect. Everyone who met Berdoo would tell us how special she was. People commented on her gentleness and those who spent time with her missed her mourned with me when she passed. Berdoo is gone now but I will always be grateful to Rachel and her company for giving me the baldog of my dreams.

After our Dog Walker wasn't able to watch our dog over the Thanksgiving holiday, we were desperate to find somewhere that cared and loved our pup as much as we do. Happy puppy LA and their entire staff was an absolute dream to work with. They were accommodating, responsive, and very proactive and handling what became a scheduling nightmare due to an unfortunate last-minute stop at the emergency room for our dog before heading off to boarding. The staff worked tirelessly over the Thanksgiving holiday to make sure that our dog, Rosie, got the care that she needed. The daily Pupdates were always our favorite part of the day, being away from her, and let us see that she was well taken care of. Could not recommend happy puppy enough, if you're looking for a kind, responsive, thoughtful place to board your dog looking further .

Because my dog, Scout, was a true COVID puppy, she was nervous around strangers -- both human and canine -- making it hard to put her in daycare. A neighbor recommended Lisa, and I'm so grateful she did. Lisa was so patient with Scout, who at first would literally hide under the couch when she'd come to walk her. Finally, after a few weeks and probably dozens of treats, Scout not only learned to trust Lisa -- she absolutely fell in love! Over the years, Lisa's employee, Halle, has taken over Scout's walks and it's been the same. Scout gets so excited whenever Halle comes to walk her, and the extra socializing has really brought my little girl out of her shell. And on the occasional day that I have to work late, Halle will bend over backwards to fit me into her schedule for an additional walk. It give me peace of mind to know that if I can't be there with my pup, she has the next best thing. I've recently also started using Lisa for overnight dog sitting, and it's been a life-saver. It's really something to see Scout change from being sad and anxious at the sight of my suitcase being packed, to being absolutely ecstatic when she realizes we're at Lisa's house. Lisa has a love-bug of a golden who makes for the best playmate (even for scout who's only 13lbs), and the three of them have a ball. I always feel safe leaving my baby with either of these ladies -- they are truly the best!
