After Miso's initial B&T, I could barely recognize her!! We did a private leash training with our first dog Teddy 3 years ago and it went so well that we worked with her again for our second dog Poppy. Teddy used to be out of control with pulling on the leash but even after 1 session with the e-collar we saw a huge improvement - he now walks right next to me and can be taken off leash and has great recall. Our session with Poppy went just as well and she was able to take us in last minute. I know some people are hesitant to use the e-collar but we use it on a very low setting (you can try it on yourself) and only really needed to use it during the initial training. I have so many great things to say about our experience with Paw by Paw that I don't know where to start. My gf and I worked with Ayumi who has an undeniable passion for what she does and you can see it in the work she puts in with you and your dog. I say "you and your dog" because her courses are very hands on and are going to include showing you the tools to implement the relationship that you're striving to have with your dog. I had actually followed PxP's IG account for some time so when my gf and I got our girl Fresa, I immediately thought to reach out to Ayumi as I had seen the work she had done with other pups. Once we all got on the phone to talk about our goals and expectations we confirmed that it was going to be a good fit. Just before we started our training for Fresa, we were dealing with her pulling really bad on walks, separation anxiety when we'd leave the house, and reactivity when around other dogs. Additionally we wanted to be able to trust her when being off leash but that was just an extra perk we were throwing in as a wish list request. After working through a 6 month program that included individual coursework to complete with our dog, a 3 week board and train phase, 3 one on one sessions, and weekly group Q&A's, we are absolutely satisfied with the results we got. We achieved all of our goals and I feel we're pretty close to the wish list request too! Fresa no longer pulls when we take her on walks. We're now able to leave the house and not worry about her howling and crying the whole time we're gone or destroying our stuff. Fresa comes to breweries, coffee shops, and other dog friendly places with us without being a fuss or reacting to people or dogs. I knew that I wanted to get him trained as soon as vaccines permitted (June). I have followed Ayumi and her work for awhile now and saw so many great things. Nashville had to be trained by the best and that's Paw by Paw. Consultation: Upon requesting boarding training for Nash, Ayumi did a consultation call with me over the phone. We went over how he was doing, things that were important to me that he learn and then suggestions she had that I never thought of as well. We went over pricing and the layout of the program. The price may seem on the higher side but when you take into account all the additional months and videos calls you receive as well as one on ones after boarding you soon realize it is worth every dollar. Pick up: Ayumi came to my house to pick up Nash. She sent an itemized list of things she will need like food, medicine etc. She arrived on time and with her mask on. She puts you, the dogs and herself in high regards to safety during the pandemic. My husband walked Nash out to the car and he was pulling and going backwards (which is why he had never been on a leash walk prior to training). Training: He went for his 3 week boarding training where Ayumi updated me throughout the weeks with videos and messages of his progress. Nashville went to training not knowing how to walk on a leash, couldn't sleep in crate without crying for hours, bit everyone, jumped on people, ate socks, ate cords, etc. as the videos rolled in I couldn't believe the progress in just a few days. Right around this time 8 years ago, I was adopting my dog, Gibbs. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have immediately taken my pup to Ayumi. Ayumi is a wonderful dog trainer! Our girl, Belly had fear aggression. We don't know what happened to her past, but Belly would be extremely nervous and scared of new people. Ayumi has worked with both of my pups for different reasons over the past year and a half. My big dog Izzy was an absolute nightmare to walk, with terrible leash manners and generally anxiety-inducing misbehavior in the house. She had me second guessing my decision to get a second dog for the first year we had her. Ayumi started us off with a one hour Skype session, which went really far in improving leash skills for both Izzy and I, but ultimately I decided that Izzy would benefit from some more intensive training, for the sanity of my household. Izzy spent two weeks with Ayumi and came home a brand new, calm, happy dog. When we picked her up, Ayumi spent an hour working with Izzy and I, essentially training ME how to better communicate with my dog. We learned all the basics on how to build up our relationship, establishing me as not her owner, but her pack leader, and now Izzy is forever receiving compliments on her lovely behavior. Her leash walking is perfection, she fixates less on squirrels and cats and pays more attention to me, and she calmly joins me out with friends to grab dinner or a drink. Some friends recently marveled at how in tune Izzy is to me- watching my face and picking up on my energy in a stressful situation, and I can only thank Ayumi for helping us to create that trust bond. Ayumi continued to help us after Izzy tore her CCL in her only back leg (yep, a tripawed!) to make sure that we didn't backslide on her training but also gave Izzy the rest and recovery that she needed. Benny has always been a big puller on walks. Even though he looks little, he's a solid 30lbs of little, so it was very hard to walk him. Not only did he pull the entire walk, but he would react to anything that moved around him, so he would pull even harder! Benny's reaction to other dogs was the most challenging though. If he saw another dog walking down the street he would lunge and bark at them and we could not get him to stop. Not only was it embarrassing but we were also scared that one day he would pull down my mom when she would take him out to take care of business. Before she started training Benny she had a consultation with us to see what our goals were and she chose a program for Benny that would help us achieve those goals. While Benny was with Ayumi, we would get updates on his progress and we felt very comfortable that Benny was in good hands. When Benny finally came home, Ayumi took the time to show us techniques that were very useful in his continued training. Today, we are able to take Benny on HOUR long walks. He is not perfect yet, if he sees other dogs he still gets excited sometimes, but Ayumi has taught us how to react to keep him under control. We learned that Benny's reaction is as much our responsibility to react, as it is his. Now we can confidently take Benny on walks and actually enjoy our time. We are so happy with the results, and so happy for our Benny boy now that he gets to enjoy the outdoors and is not cooped up in the house all day anymore. People always used to say "he will grow out of it" but he DID NOT grow out of it. Benny is now 6 years old and I wish I had asked Ayumi for help sooner. We have used Paw by Paw as a resource for training ever since we first got our dog at 8 weeks old. We started with the online courses, which was so helpful in setting a foundation for us with basic obedience training. Later down the road, we also opted for the 3 week board and training program, which really took our dog's training to the next level. Our dog has improved SO in general excitability/reactivity, especially on walks. (We are even able to have her stay right by our side leash-less the entire time!) What's the most unique about these training programs is that not only does Ayumi teach dog behavioral training, but she also teaches the psychology behind the training in order to become an owner that your dog truly sees as a leader. Ayumi is absolutely awesome! My dog was really scared of going up and down the stairs at home and I would have to carry him up and down every time. He would panic if I left to another floor without him and bark uncontrollably. I learned so much from Ayumi in just one session and she taught my dog how to go up and down the stairs in about 15 minute (I had been trying for about a year)! My dog also does pack walks with her and I've noticed a significant difference in his leash behavior. He's so calm on our walks and we are able to enjoy them together. Ayumi is such a great trainer! She is very thorough and gives very detailed instructions on how to continue the training once she's completed her training sessions. We used Paw by Paw for help with our Cane Corso Buddy when we first got him at 8 weeks. We chose to do the year long training considering our boy was going to get very big. This was 2-1/2 years ago but the training has paid off immensely. Buddy's visual and verbal commands work as well today as they did when he was 3 months old yet today he is 185 pounds. He does scare most people when he stands up and puts his paws on the counter but this boy's training is incredible. I couldn't be happier with Ayumi and the work she has done let alone the fact that our boy is so good and easy to handle. I am a 60 year old woman and this boy walks right next to me and never pulls or runs to get to anyone or anything.
