This review is SO overdue and feel like my experience is only echoing off of everyone else's with Paw by Paw Training. From the very gecko, Ayumi was clear and kind that the work that goes behind having a relationship with our dogs is not only on the dogs themselves but on how we set them up for success. I was extremely anxious when I first became a dog owner to my Dachshund Nigel, who is ALSO very anxious and for those who know, Dachshunds can be STUBBORN. I had reached out to so many dog trainers and immediately after my discovery call with Ayumi, I just knew Nigel and I were in good hands under her training program. Fast forward to a year later when Nigel attended his board and train program back in August 2023, Nigel and I have carried on so many great recommendations that have bettered our relationship. It doesn't end there though, life is all about changes that come with it right? I truly enjoy knowing that we have such a caring and well-trusted trainer to refer back to for refreshers and even helping Nigel navigate new behaviors when new changes come about in my life. We're excited to be able to soon schedule a refresher session with Ayumi to navigate my new life changes to ensure Nigel is set up for success - and for anyone who is an anxious dog owner with an even more anxious pup - I'm here to tell you that Ayumi and Paw by Paw has been a BLESSING for me! SO SO grateful for you, Ayumi and Paw by Paw!!

Where do I begin?! I'm so grateful for Ayumi and the Paw by Paw team! Miso is the first pup I got as an adult, and my husband is a first-time dog owner. We both knew embarking on this journey, we wanted a dog that would fit into our lifestyle - hiking, eating at restaurants, and traveling locally. We knew raising a pup would be challenging, but boy, did Miso test us when we brought her home - extremely excitable, had trouble focusing, eating things off the ground, jumping and nipping, pulling (almost choking) on walks, you name it. Immediately, I reached out to Ayumi, and after our first discovery call, I knew we had found the right person to guide us through this journey. We signed up for the 6-month program, and the experience was amazing. The weekly calls and the community where we could post questions and share tips were so helpful because every day looked different with a growing pup. Ayumi was always engaged, quick to answer questions, and coached us through every scenario. Ayumi has a natural talent for analyzing dog behaviors and personalities, and her suggestions for training were tailored to us and our pup. Miso graduated in January, and we are so happy how we're able to integrate her into our daily activities and lives. Thanks to the foundation we've built, we're able to enjoy the dog owner process, build our own confidence on leading Miso, and soak in every moment. Photos of happy, calm Miso on outings and her relaxed walk below.

My discovery call with Ayumi far exceeded my expectations! She is so knowledgeable, an expert dog behaviorist, and REALLY LISTENS. She helped me understand what I can improve in training my Aussie shepherd mix Grizzly, and came up with a strong plan moving forward to set him up for success! She's the consummate professional and really knows her stuff! Thank you Ayumi!!

From the start of our very first conversation, we knew Ayumi was someone we could trust to help us through the challenge of being new dog owners with a brand new puppy. During our initial call, Ayumi instantly made us feel comfortable and really took the time to understand the challenges we were experiencing as well as listen to the goals we had for Sheldon. Ayumi really made us understand that good dogs = good owners, and for the program to be successful, we had to put in the time and effort not just now, but forever. Her training videos have been such a wealth of knowledge and they really helped us get Sheldon ready to start his board and train. While we were nervous and sad to leave Sheldon for three weeks, we knew he was in the great hands. Following his progress throughout those weeks was amazing to see and reuniting with him at the end of the program, it was easy to see how far he had come during his time with Ayumi. Fast forward a few months later and Sheldon is continuing to grow leaps and bounds, and we love that every week he still gets time with Ayumi during his pack walks to reinforce everything he has learned. The in-home sessions in addition to the board and train were so helpful in giving us immediate feedback and making sure we were staying on track with Sheldon's training. Thanks to Ayumi, Sheldon has truly developed into the dog we always hoped he would be. Ayumi, we can't thank you enough for all that you have done for Sheldon. We are so happy to be a part of the pack and can't recommend your services enough!

We did a private leash training with our first dog Teddy 3 years ago and it went so well that we worked with her again for our second dog Poppy. Teddy used to be out of control with pulling on the leash but even after 1 session with the e-collar we saw a huge improvement - he now walks right next to me and can be taken off leash and has great recall. Our session with Poppy went just as well and she was able to take us in last minute. I know some people are hesitant to use the e-collar but we use it on a very low setting (you can try it on yourself) and only really needed to use it during the initial training. I can't recommend Ayumi enough - she's professional, kind and great at her job!

    Hiking on a trail!

We just completed our 3 month training with Paw by Paw. We fostered and adopted a Pit bull mix rescue. He was 9 months at the time we started with Ayumi. We knew he had a lot of potential but needed help with the jumping and the nipping -ouch! We immediately got on a crate schedule and as we progressed, we had to follow certain training techniques that I will not divulge here. At first I thought we have to what? But we did it and everything she recommended worked! Our puppy is now 1 year and he had changed so much! He can self soothe, he likes his schedule, he isn't jumping, knows is commands, learned to walk properly on the leash and is socializing very well. We know training is a life time commitment and we are all in. Ayumi provides so much support and takes you where you are and really listens. She really is a dog whisperer. She understands them so well and teaches you to do the same. Worth every cent!

We absolutely love working with Ayumi and get team. I highly recommend her to all my friends and colleagues who are interested in virtual sessions or board and training sessions. Background: Our pups name is Major, we started with Ayumi July 2021 when our husky/pit mix was ~3 months old. We went through all the new first time dog owner struggles from socialization, to walking, resource guarding, excitability, recall, etc. We didn't know about the different stages he would go through from puppyhood to the second fear imprint period (teen months) to now as an adult. We learned so much about his breed and dog psychology through working with Ayumi and Enrique. I loved learning about different micro expressions to look out for since his ears were always so expressive. We also learned more about different types of activities we could to with him and creating healthy boundaries for him. At first we were hesitant to board him since it was the first time he would be away from us. But when I saw her IG updates and saw how much enrichment activities, walks, training, structure he had I knew Major was safe/healthy and being well taken care of. Now his recall is great, we can take him out to dog friendly places like Joanns, Home Depot, the container store, etc. while keeping his engagement on us. We share nice hour walks that keep us healthy and active. He gets so many compliments when we're out. We're so grateful, Ayumi. I feel so comfortable having Major sleepover when we're out of town. There's no one I'd trust more with him.

Ayumi is a WONDERFUL trainer! I finished my 6 month program with Ayumi about a month ago, and I've been digesting my entire experience so that I could give a totally honest review which I hope will help any dog owner who is struggling with their dog and looking for help. My dog Gunther is a Havanese, about 1.5 years old when we started training with Ayumi. I was dealing with reactivity, difficulty walking on a leash, socialization, and many of your typical issues that come with being an uninformed first time dog owner. What I wanted was simple, just to be able to take Gunther out and about with me without having to worry about him constantly barking, pulling, and turning what should be a fun outing into a challenge. Ayumi took the time to fully understand all of the issues we were having with zero judgement and was always ready with solutions for us to try. I can confidently say that Ayumi has helped us achieve what we have always wanted to with Gunther and have it be a positive experience for HIM as well! Ayumi and the Paw by Paw community were wonderful support systems and I never felt like I was alone in my struggles. I cannot thank Ayumi and the Paw by Paw community enough on how much they have truly changed our lives for the better. I highly recommend Paw by Paw to any dog owner who is looking to improve their relationship with their dog!

    Nashville!
    Shanese D.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!!! Ayumi and her team at Paw by Paw are outstanding. In April of 2020 we got a labradoodle as the family pet. I knew that I wanted to get him trained as soon as vaccines permitted (June). I have followed Ayumi and her work for awhile now and saw so many great things. Nashville had to be trained by the best and that's Paw by Paw. Consultation: Upon requesting boarding training for Nash, Ayumi did a consultation call with me over the phone. We went over how he was doing, things that were important to me that he learn and then suggestions she had that I never thought of as well. We went over pricing and the layout of the program. The price may seem on the higher side but when you take into account all the additional months and videos calls you receive as well as one on ones after boarding you soon realize it is worth every dollar. Pick up: Ayumi came to my house to pick up Nash. She sent an itemized list of things she will need like food, medicine etc. She arrived on time and with her mask on. She puts you, the dogs and herself in high regards to safety during the pandemic. My husband walked Nash out to the car and he was pulling and going backwards (which is why he had never been on a leash walk prior to training). Training: He went for his 3 week boarding training where Ayumi updated me throughout the weeks with videos and messages of his progress. Nashville went to training not knowing how to walk on a leash, couldn't sleep in crate without crying for hours, bit everyone, jumped on people, ate socks, ate cords, etc. as the videos rolled in I couldn't believe the progress in just a few days. When she sent the video of Nashville walking on a leash properly I literally cried. Out of anything I wanted from training, him walking on a leash was my highest priority. Granted at this time I was now almost 2 months pregnant and training was more important than ever. He continuously made huge strides with his training as the weeks went on. Drop off: Ayumi brought Nash back to us for a one on one now that boarding was over. I walked with him as she instructed and it went great. My step kids also walked with him and he did great. My husband had a mild knee surgery and had to walk very slowly. Nashville walked at his pace never pulling away. We were in awe of his progress. He slept in the crate without crying, went on walks with us without pulling, and overall we saw a huge improvement. He is still a puppy so there were puppy things he did. Post-Boarding: There is a Facebook group where we post videos and interact with other parents from her training classes. It's nice because Ayumi responds to everyone and you also get to see you are not alone in the process of training your pup. We have these great video chats as well. Overall, this is the place to get your pup trained. Ayumi and her team are super stars. They take great pride in what they do and treat your pup as if they were their own. My husband and I own companies and strongly believe you get what you pay for. If you want Walmart training take your dog to a 2 day course. If you want Nordstrom training you come here and get the full package deal !!

Let me start by saying - Ayumi is the BEST dog trainer around! Deuce, approximately 2 year old goldenbully, was found on the streets and formed some pretty bad habits as a young pup without a forever home. My husband & I took him in about 9 months ago and since working with Ayumi and the Paw x Paw team... we haven't looked back! She has taught us how to form and maintain a relationship with Deuce filled with trust, communication, healthy boundaries, and discipline. Ayumi does a great job at understanding your needs and goals as well as tailoring the training to your lifestyle all while keeping in mind you and your dog's personality. She is easily available to answer any questions, provide guidance, and feedback. The "Journey" package is a pretty special and unique service which I highly recommend! With the help of Paw x Paw, we have built such a great relationship with Deuce and we are so confident in his abilities. We now look forward to taking Deuce with us on our camping adventures and dinner date outings. He's so well behaved that people often think he is a service dog. We cannot thank Ayumi, Enrique and the Paw x Paw team enough! Not only did they help train Deuce but also helped rescue a dog because before I met Ayumi.. I wanted to return him. Paw x Paw provides a solid training foundation that makes our continued work and training enjoyable in every situation. We believe Deuce is more fulfilled too!

Ollie & Reed, Terrier Mix brothers!

The most PAWfect trainer is Ayumi at Paw by Paw! Ayumi is THE BEST dog trainer and dog owner! She takes the time to understand yours and your dog's struggles, wants, and needs. She wants to educate you, not just tell you what to do. There was a time that mine and my husband's life was so chaotic, frustrating, and tiring trying to raise two sibling, Terrier Mix pups, that we almost gave up! Ayumi helped and taught us how create a better environment for us to thrive and live our best lives! Ayumi practices what she preaches/teaches with her own dogs. She's honest and true to her trainings by sharing with her clients stories about success and struggles she's faced with her dogs. I love that she shares with us because it's comforting to know we are not alone in dog training! She creates a safe, welcoming, and supportive community of like-minded owners that want to better understand and support their dogs. Ayumi gives every owner that comes to Paw by Paw the support, guidance, and tools to work with your dog for a lifetime! Because we all know, training never stops! If you are looking for a trainer that will set you and your dog up for success, Ayumi is the one! I could go on and on about about how she helped us and why we love Ayumi, but you'll have to see for yourself! If she can help us and our two puppies work through littermate syndrome, building confidence, learning to relax, better walks, and so much more...she can help you and your dog, too! We love you Ayumi!

Ayumi is a wonderful dog trainer! Our girl, Belly had fear aggression. We don't know what happened to her past, but Belly would be extremely nervous and scared of new people. She was also very protective of mommy, daddy, and her little brother Tummy. However, she didn't know how to control all that tension and fear and turned them into aggression. She would hide behind daddy and try to attack the person all the sudden! We tried everything we knew about dog training and it didn't make any progress. We didn't know what else to do...luckily, we reached out to laadopt and they introduced us to Ayumi San who specializes in training dogs with aggression! Ayumi taught us how to train aggressive dogs like Belly using muzzles and e-collars! E-collars do not hurt your dog if you know how to use them properly. Ever since we've applied this method to Belly, she is so much calmer and walking so much better! It's been a year now and Belly has met so many new people and all of them fell in love with her lol. We took her to work and she behaved so well! Thank you so much for helping Belly and us!

If you're facing any problems from behavior modification or just want to teach your dog obedience…read morebut don't know where to start, contact to Jenny!! I could rave about how awesome of a professional dog trainer Jenny is all day but I'll try to keep this one straightforward. Some context...We recently rescued our first family dog Koda, a 3 year old German Shepherd mix, late January of this year. Koda's a great dog but we struggled with obedience training since she's (a) quite the high energy dog (b) our first dog and (c) we have no experience training a dog. Before going to Jenny, I contacted a different trainer but things didn't go too well since I only then found out during the session that Koda exhibited extreme fear around men during the first session (trainer was a man). We then decided to switch to a female trainer and contacted Jenny, who we learned about through a friend of a friend, who had a good experience with her and said her private sessions were reasonable. We told Jenny that we wanted to learn basic obedience and help Koda with her anxiety around men and strangers. During our first meeting, I was nervous that Koda would act fearful toward Jenny since she's afraid of strangers but Jenny's patience and calm demeanor allowed Koda to eventually relax and be in the mindset to learn. Within a 6 week private basic obedience course, Koda and our family have made so many strides. We've learned to help her unlearn a lot of undesirable behaviors (e.g. leash pulling, counter surfing, eating stuff on the ground during walks, begging, chasing at other dogs during walks, etc) with Jenny's guidance. Koda also now knows her basic commands (e.g. sit, down, stand, recall, leave it,etc). Most importantly, Jenny's help with behavior modification has allowed Koda's lessened anxiety and she's okay meeting our friends and other extended family out in public and at our house. What I love about her sessions and training is that she is flexible in switching up the curriculum and personalizes it to your situation and dog (based on new problem behaviors that come up or your dog's progress in learning). Overall, this was a great experience for us. We really respect and appreciate Jenny's professionalism, her willingness to help, and her apparent love for dogs. She's very experienced in dog training and knowledgeable about dogs. I asked a lot of questions and Jenny was always open to answer my endless questions and offer her advice. Koda was once got sprayed by a skunk during a night walk and we felt like we had no one else we could really turn to. I decided to text Jenny and she unexpectedly responded quickly to give us advice on how to handle the situation. We can't thank Jenny enough and are glad that we did the training with her. We're confident in continuing Koda's training with the groundwork that Jenny has laid out and will be contacting Jenny if we need more sessions in the future. Thank you again Jenny!!

Reid evaluates all new dogs to make sure that all dogs blend well together which was important to us because Panda had not been with other dogs before. It was all a big multi-day play date for her and a worry free trip for us. He posted pictures so that we could see Panda having a good time. Reid really focuses in on each dog to make sure that their needs are met. We learned a lot about Panda from him too. It was a great experience for Panda and for us!

She is also devoted and loving and funny. We did not know what to do when your puppy's chewing, pulling and charging might mean a trip to the doctor! But Alice and the exceptional trainers at K9 Logic sure did. They did not hesitate to take her on with love and firm discipline, teaching both her and us. With their training and support, Aralez was transformed in eight weeks into a dog that truly wanted to behave and interact with us so that she got the best results back. Learning how to use the E collar was the best thing ever now we can walk her past dogs and she doesn't charge, she knows how to Place and calm herself when she gets excited and she's really very responsive to just about everything we need her to do to keep her safe and us safe in an environment that she deserves to be in. Thank you, Alice for giving me hope when I really didn't know if it would be possible to keep her. We love our Aralez and really appreciate you!

We had tried what felt like everything and his separation anxiety was so bad that it got to the point that my partner and I basically gave up our social lives, had to coordinate with one another one of us would be going to the market or if it would be a trip where we both can go but someone sits in the car with our dog. We met the team at K9 Logic Dog Training and they assessed our dog and determined what kind of training program would be best for him to address his separation anxiety and the other skills we wanted to work on. Within a week we noticed progress. We finally were able to leave the house for an hour and go to the market together. Week by week the time has gradually gotten longer where we have been able to leave him alone for longer periods of time to reclaim our social life back. I was skeptical at first, but after that first week I became a believer. We are so happy with the results that for the purpose of just giving him structure and routine we signed him up for more classes and he LOVES being at school. We've also participated in the weekend group training sessions and they are so helpful to not only give our dog routine, but it's a great way to reinforce structure and keep him sharp with everything he learned at school. Signing up for training with K9 Logic Dog Training was the best decision we could made for our dog to set him up for success.

Smart Dog Training School - I would never think I could walk our dog off leash, without him running away. I love that I can do this with him now.

A 3 yr. old toy Fox Terrier I'd adopted from our local Palmdale shelter sorely needed basic obedience and leash training. Searching online, I was fortunate to find Smart Dog Training School in Palmdale and discovered that Gonzalo was part of an excellent team that ran a training program I'd used many years earlier in the San Fernando Valley. Boy oh boy, did I luck out!! I visited my furry new friend nearly every week while she was being trained, and it was quite obvious she was progressing very well, AND she was so very comfortable and happy with her temporary boarding home as well as her trainers. Little Gypsy is now back home with us and fully trained. Gonzalo and his team are top notch -- well beyond a five-star rating!!!

I boarded her with him for about two months, and she came back like a completely different dog calm, obedient, and well-behaved. It was honestly the best investment I could've ever made. She's six years old now and still behaves amazingly thanks to the foundation he gave her. Gonzalo is also very flexible and always lets me board her when I'm out of town. Every time she's dropped off, she's well groomed and smells incredible unlike other places I've taken her. I highly recommend him!
