My 5 months old puppy turned into a shark and did all the things we didn't expect such as biting, jumping, barking, growling, and much more. I thought I can just follow tutorials online, but none of the methods worked. I decided to get a professional and found Master Dog Training through Yelp. I read all the reviews and was impressed with how many dogs he had trained. Different breeds and ages. I texted him and he provided me all the information and we confirmed a date. I saw a promotional price for Temple City, but since I am at another city, it is a different price. I did text him a day before our appointment to remind him just in case, per our agreement. My puppy is getting the "DOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING: Commands and Problem Behaviors, pulling on leash, dumpster diving, counter surfing, mild barking, potty training, jumping, digging, chewing, nipping, not listening. NOT FOR DOGS WITH AGGRESSION or FEAR!" A total of 5 sessions, once a week, 55 minutes per sessions. This training is done at my place and indoor. By the end of his training, he learned 18 commands in 5 weeks! Please note that it also depends on your effort and if you're training your dog daily with what was taught. Mike is great with our puppy! Turns out he owns the same breed as me. From my perspective, he trained my husband, me and my puppy altogether. If you're doing something wrong, he would tell you. Really glad I found Michael here on Yelp to train our new five month old pug puppy. She was relinquished at a rescue and when we adopted her, we had the suspicion the previous owner didn't do a thing in regards to training/socialization. She was pretty much ruining our lives and after our first session out of five with Michael, it was a night and day difference! Michael came over to our place for the five sessions and helped us with the basic obedience/behavioral training. It was pretty amazing how quickly Michale was able to teach our pup something. The methods he uses make a lot of sense and you can tell he really understands dog behavior. While she learned a lot and is getting it down each day, her reactivity is still pretty bad and is not easily fixable when we're actually outside in the wild. She's entering her "teenage phase" now so whatever discipline we had on her is starting to fly out the door haha. What she used to respond to (butt pinches and pet corrector spray) she takes that as a challenge, barks back and thinks we're playing. We just have to continue working with her daily and hopefully she grows out of the barking at people/dogs with enough time. We are hoping to work with Michael again in the future to continue with more training specifically outside where she experiences her major issues. Overall, I highly recommend Michael for training your pup. You can tell he genuinely loves dogs and our Keiko was super excited to see him each week. My dog underwent the Obedience Training course per Michael's recommendation after I told him my concerns. The course can address potty training, jumping, digging, chewing, nipping, barking, counter surfing, dumpster diving, commands and leash walking. However, it's flexible depending on what commands your dog already knows or what issues you're currently experiencing. The course consisted of five 1-hour sessions, once per week. We communicated via text to confirm appointments or reschedule if there was ever anything on either end that popped up. Michael would always communicate if he was running a bit late and wouldn't shorten the session because of it. The rate was very affordable compared to other trainers I researched, and it was convenient to have the classes right at home. The course is a learning experience for both owner and dog, and you get a lot of information to work with. Just a note that both positive and negative reinforcement training methods are taught, but he isn't forceful with how the information is presented, and it's really up to the owner what recommendations you choose to employ (personally I'm more keen on positive reinforcement). It's basically learning about operant conditioning. Just communicate with any concerns. read more

Rufus has been training with Michael for over a month now and it's been fantastic. I learned way more in one session than I did booking a beginners class at Pasadena Humane. The training was personalized and did not feel dragged out. Michael had a good read on Rufus, and once he felt he was proficient at something, we'd move on and he'd learn something else. He responded right away and answered all my questions regarding the training and what he would recommend for my 10/11 month old puppy (she's 1 now). I have a reactive dog with a lack of socialization. My dog is a chipit with the looks of a pitbull. It was hard to walk her on the streets and in public. After 5 sessions of training with Mike, my dog learned A LOT of commands, and we were able to control her more inside and outside of the house. My dog became a lot more obedient. I also learned a lot about dog behavior and how to control my dog. Btw, we are finally able to walk her in public.
