This was our first day of training and we saw immediate results. Erind arrived right on time, was friendly, attentive, and informative. He took time to listen to our concerns and provided different training exercises to deal with the specific issues and made suggestions. He even observed them and brought up items of concern we hadn't even noticed that could be potential issues in the future. Bark Busters is great because it is not treat dependent (because let's face it, I don't always have treats on me. What if I run out? Not to mention, sometimes our dogs are too distracted to be enticed by a treat). They use techniques to show the dogs that you (the owner) are the leader. They use training exercises so the dogs become accustomed to you giving out the orders. With a little time, patience, and practice, I'm 100% sure we will get our babies acting on their best behavior. The key to this type of training is that you (the owner) have to practice with your dog everyday. The repetition helps with your dog's training. And since you're the one giving orders, you have to practice with your dogs to set boundaries and to earn their respect as their pack leader. Today we were able to maintain space and set boundaries so the dogs waited by the kitchen door while I rattled treats and tempted them to run in. It's dangerous for them to follow me around while cooking since I don't want anything hot to accidentally spill on them. We also dropped treats on the floor, and they did not pick them up until we invited them. They stopped barking at the door and also learned to stop jumping on us. This was all accomplished on day one, which lasts about 3-4 hours. We were pleasantly surprised how quickly the dogs picked everything up and how attentive they were. Even after Erind left, we continued to correct them. They both stayed by the kitchen door while I rattled their after dinner treat. And adorably and obediently, they then waited and received their well deserved morsel. Walking will be a challenge for us since we have a 6 month pup that is super alpha and our 4 year old is having to relearn. But we are hopeful. He's a very curious, stimulated dog, so he loves walking ahead. Bella our baby loves to pull and tug. She could drag a body up the street with her strength. I went for the lifetime guarantee training. Had my first session and I was honestly disappointed. While the trainer was perfectly nice, I was only taught to growl at my dogs. That was the extent of the training. If that's something you wanna be doing then maybe this training will work for your needs but I wasn't a fan personally. We reached out to Bark Busters a week after adopting a 4 year old female pit from the Bakersfield pound. Her and our 1 year old Pekingese that we've had since 8 weeks old we're having a tough time adjusting to each other. Erind from Bark Buster's arrived on time and was very professional and courteous for our first session. Started with an initial interview proceeded by verbal advice and printed materials for behavioral modifications, traits, health and wellness tips, nutritional information, how to "speak to your dog", and educating both owner and dog! Signing up for training with Carrie was a game changer for us. My husband and I have always had dogs over the past 20 years and consider ourselves experienced dog owners, however, we were stumped by Faye, our recently adopted 40-lb terrier with boundless energy. She is very sweet and her behavior at home, for the most part, has been acceptable. However, on a leash, she is a terror! Before Carrie, after each walk, I came home exhausted from trying to control Faye's leash aggression: she would bark, lunge, and attempt to chase other dogs, squirrels, bicyclists, and once, even a coyote. Our past experience did not solve our problem, we tried to research dog training info on line, but those tips didn't really help. In come Carrie, took control of the situation, had our little terror walk like a lady on her leash. We learned a unique set of tools to help us manage Faye, although (of course) can't do it as effectively as Carrie did, but my dog is definitely more mangeable now, overtime we are confident that her sweet nature will shine thru even on a leash! And it is really reassuring that Carie has our backs, we can always call her for help. We look forward to a few more sessions with Carrie, hopefully getting ourselves better trained along with Faye. We've worked with Bark Busters a couple times now and really love their service. Erind is a wonderful trainer. While he has trained our beloved pooch (sit, stay, get in and out of the car, etc) he also teaches us the techniques to keep training her ourselves to reinforce behavior.
