The staff were helpful in providing information about their selection and helped with the types of food offered. I was fortunate there was a 20 percent off with 3 purchases, so bought a little more than usual. They had three flavors available, so I bought all three for our large dog. Shaving Cut & bleed The groomer recommended a puppy cut to get rid of my dog's matted hair. She seemed very knowledgeable and nice so I agreed with her proposal. She asked me to sign a waiver haphazardly. She did not explain in detail nor provide a copy for me. We didn't notice the cut until the next day and we were shocked. Every single time they have made some weird and usually rude comments about my dog (a husky). They get really weird about brushing or addressing matting which my dog never has a server case of. Every time I've gotten her back she's been only kind of clean and comes home still wet. They say she doesn't like to be dried.....so she comes home wet and smelling like wet dog instead of freshly groomed. However Pasadena Petco never has any issues with her. They never complain, she's always dry, fluffy and smells good. They've always addressed all her grooming needs and have always been kind. It's rare that I write reviews, but the groomers here complain about my dog before she's even been checked in, make me feel like I am burdening them and are rude! We went to this petco over our local one because we wanted to get a last minute haircut for our dog. This location had lots of availability and decided it was worth the drive. I made an appointment and they refused to groom my dog due to medical history even though there was no other dogs being groomed. We have never had any issues with medical history at our local petco. I visit this store often to grab cat food. While looking at the cute rodents, I noticed they had male mice. I know a lot about the care of rodents, and male mice should Never be housed together, or they will fight, usually to the death. I found three male mice housed together, already with typical fight wounds (at the base of the tail area). I took some photos and talked to the clerk who let me know there was nothing he could do, "Corporate" accompanied with a shrug, as these three mice are living in Sparta conditions a few feet away. We brought our golden-doodle puppy in yesterday for $90 grooming - wash, cut, nails and teeth. 4 hours after drop off we were called and told that they could only bath her because she kept moving around and because she popped after a bath. And then they charged us $75!!!! $75 for what I do at home. And the fact that. And dog groomers that get thrown off because the dog moved around and pooped?! You're kidding me! Disgusting. Ayla has been grooming my poodles for years (followed her from Petsmart to Petco) & she just went on maternity leave so I decided to have my poodles groomed by Amiee & Jack/Hagop. I called in & specifically asked who is best for poodle cuts & Jack told me Amiee & himself were good so I scheduled my appointments with them. Amiee did good, I can't tell a difference between her cut or Aylas cut. But oh my, I would suggest keeping your floofy poodles away from Jack. Ayla has used my 2 poodles for grooming training about every 8 weeks for the last couple of years because they are well behaved & enjoy getting groomed so I know it's probably not my dogs fault that she turned out looking the way she does.... Her top knot it almost non existent & the ears are weirdly layered with some missing chunks & look very choppy, she honestly kinda looks like an emo kid ready for Warped Tour 2006. Lol! Take your poodles to Amiee! Also, there was a new fee for "shave brushout" that I have never been charged for before & I was told by Jack that's it's due to them shaving a "poodle face" on my dogs... I would assume shaving a face would be included in the grooming fee but apparently it is not... this face shaving fee was $10 for my smaller poodle & $15 for my medium poodle. I hope Ayla is back from maternity leave soon because with her gone & now there being an extra fee for shaving a face, I might be looking elsewhere for future grooming. $88 plus tip for a 27lb poodle & $75 plus tip for a 18lb poodle... This is all done 20 days before my trip was planned plus out of backup to have it delivered overnight for my home address The phone number for vetco is the one in La Canada/ Glendale. Went to the vetco clinic in Pasadena on Arroyo Parkway to get a heartworm test and Heartworm medication as I was planning on traveling my Summer Place in Michigan. I could only get the medication I needed only if they did a heartworm test first. Went down and spent $45.60 for the test they emailed me a prescription for Heartgard which was not what I wanted which was Simparica Trio Caramel 11.1-22 lbs. The emailed me a prescription not what I wanted but was useless because no Pharmacy will take a prescription coming from a customer. I contacted the pharmacy Allivet the 11th the day after they did the test I also called vetco that I wanted the prescription sent to them. Every time I call to follow up to see if they received the request for the medication from Allivet. They said that is being handled by a pharmaceutical staff and they have only email contact with them and they would email them to have it expedited. I even had a conference call that had both vetco and Allivet on the phone at the same time. When I called on the 13th to make sure it was taken care of they said it was going to take three to five business days. When I called on the 18th they again said it was going to take now 5 to 6 business days now because it's so busy season. Every time I spoke to somebody from the staff on the vetco line every time they would say it's going to take 5 to 6 days or 3 to 5 business days and it was being escalated and if I called on the 18th the 22nd the 27th every time it was being escalated and would take 3 to 5 business days or five to six business days depending on who I talk to. They never ever sent the medication prescription over. The only reason I did the heartworm test was to get the medication. But they never called the prescription in and never took care of it. That was a month and a half ago. I left for Michigan on the 30th with an overnight envelope for my neighbor in case the medication was delivered while I was away but it was never sent. Allivet sent me an email that they had reached out to vetco's 11 times, I continue to call them hoping to get it done before I left and sent to my Pasadena address. I wish I could give it less than one star. I paid for a pharmacist to give me a prescription but the only way they do it is if they will fill it for $187 and they won't send it to anybody else. In addition prior to this I ordered my dog food from them online but when they didn't have it they wouldn't send me any notice and when I would follow up to check on it they said they're waiting for it to come back in the stock. Then 3 weeks or 4 weeks later I would get an email that they haven't got it in the orders been canceled. I used Chewy from now on, much more professional and a cheaper price or the same.
