When a last-minute work trip came up, I frantically searched for a facility to board her, as we weren't totally happy with the 2 other facilities we previously tried. From our first communication with Puppy Island, we knew Sage would be in great hands. I took her in for an assessment and couldn't believe how enthusiastic the staff was to meet her. She took to them immediately and had to be dragged back out to the car. The team sent us tons of photos and videos every day and made sure to double check our dog's feeding and medicine schedule. Extra special shoutout to JESS, who went above and beyond for us and for Sage. They are bonded for life. We will not hesitate to bring our dog back to Puppy Island. We are admittedly helicopter dog parents and are super picky when it comes to her! Their rates are super reasonable, but truly the service they provided was priceless to us.

At pick up, the manager gushed about how much they loved her & claimed she may have even gained weight. That was a lie. The moment I saw her, I knew something was wrong. She had lost 5lbs, was wheezing, visibly weak & totally withdrawn. At home, she curled into a ball, wouldn't eat or drink & had green/pink snot running from her nose. To make it worse (even though I paid for grooming) she was filthy. Her coat was crusted w/ buildup & flakes. It looked like she hadn't been touched. I contacted the staff again hours later to ask what happened. Their reply? Dismissive & full of excuses. By the next day, I had to rush her to the vet. She was diagnosed w/ severe pneumonia & hospitalized for 3.5 days. The medical team was alarmed by how sick she was... that vet bill? $3.5K+ the emotional toll? don't even get me started! We have used Andy's in Eagle Rock to have Emi's nails trimmed and wanted to try for grooming. The glendale location is the only store open on Sundays so we booked an appointment first thing. We arrived and our dog made conversation with others (dogs) while we filled out her paper work and left her. They told us around 11-12pm and yup right at 12pm we got a call she was ready. We let her grow her coat out a bit for winter but with her poodle-briche frise coat she tends to mat no matter how much I comb her out she'll just turn around and get it all tangled up again, Emi is very much a toddler. They told us she would have to go very clean, I mean very. I was not expecting near bald and that we where charged double the cost of $70ish dollars. We also noticed she had 4 nixs on her which of course upset me but no blood was drawn and she didn't seem to be in pain. My husband and I have decided to go again once her coat is longer and if there's no problems in our pockets or Emi we will make the switch.
