I feel the need to share my dissatisfaction and poor treatment by this rescue. In the end one of…read morethe dogs I tried to adopt was harmed, in addition to me and my son because of how they mishandled everything. It was only 48 hours before getting this dog that the foster parent, not the rescue, informed me she had a prolapse rectum. The shelter didn't even know. Outside of being told she had a small cataract in her left eye, was told nothing else was wrong. In fact, the owner said she was "perfect.". This dog had dental disease, severe scarring in both ears and eyes to where she had limited vision and hearing. She was not potty trained at all. She was also severely underweight and could not handle a walk more than about four houses down my street. I agreed to take her with the understanding she would get the prolapse surgery after I got her, paid for by the shelter. The owner continued to disagree with every vet that saw her to talk about the surgery. No vet wanted to operate on her because she was malnourished and it was unclear why she was not able to gain any weight. All three vets said she should go on a hydrolyzed protein diet. The owner of the shelter refused stating the only food I could feed her was farmers dog. Finally after two months, the owner said I could put her on hydrolyzed protein food and she started gaining some weight. She had to get an ultrasound before the hospital would agree to do the surgery at that point. It took six weeks for the shelter to connect with the hospital that did the ultrasound to talk about next steps for the surgery. By that point I had had this dog for over three months and was dealing with all of the stuff I mentioned above. Because of all that at some point, I decided I could not do it anymore. It was a very painful decision to make and the shelter, made it extremely hard for me in the end. They were difficult to communicate with. I agreed to just fly her back to LA myself and the plan then changed three different times. They said they would come get her on a certain day, then changed it to another day then I said I would just bring her like I had planned then they asked me to keep her until they could find a place for her even though they said they had a place for her to go. Long story short it was extremely hard. I will put pictures of the texts from the owner in the end, who told me to literally stop complaining. The amount of time and money I spent out of my own pocket on this dog was significant. I thought at least an apology would be given, when I asked for one, the worker at the shelter stayed silent on the phone. And then the owner told me to stop complaining as you can see in the text photos. I share this to warn other people about what you might go through if you try to adopt a dog through them.

How does that help us determine the dog's temperament or how he would interact with our current dog, all of which we disclosed to the rescue. When we told them what kind of dog we were interested in adopting they tired to bait and switch us to another dog. Completely unethical.

As with all training, the most valuable tools obtained is the knowledge given, and using such, the amount of time spent training outside of the class will garner the most favorable results. Committing hours each week with the week's lesson, my boy learned and Kyle's good instruction resulted in acquiring the skills I sought. My puller learned to heel, which was the main goal I wanted to achieve. He also learned to stay on command, but his recall (come to me) still needs some work. We are still working on a stellar outcome, he's stubborn. The pros of the class; good training, the training is demonstrated using Kyle's dogs, nice email communications which recaps the week's previous training sessions. I felt the class cost was appropriate, at the date of this review, approximately $60 per class. The cons of the class; we met at Brand Park in Glendale, and several of the classes were interrupted by park goers which allowed their unleashed dogs to interact during sessions. Not necessarily Trained Goldens fault, and understanding we are in a public park, my suggestion would be to rope off the class area and place signs instructing others to respect the class time and restrain their unleashed dogs. A total of 10 signed up and by mid-session we were down to half that number and only one (myself) attended the final class. We had one incident during week two which might have marred the group. One of the dogs in the class bit the instructor and his response was less than restrained. Kyle was apologetic, and understandably upset by the bite, but the dynamic of the group seemed to dwindle in the weeks thereafter. Aside from this one incident, I found Kyle to offer great training suggestions, found him to be a patient and caring instructor and would recommend this business to any looking to train their dogs.

I recently had an unfortunate experience with Verdugo Pet Grooming in Glendale, and I must say that it left a lot to be desired. I have to give this establishment a 0 star rating due to the unprofessional behavior I witnessed during my visit. First and foremost, I was deeply disturbed by the way the groomer handled the dogs in their care. As a customer, I had the opportunity to witness firsthand how the groomer would yell at the dogs in their cages and even resort to hitting the cage in frustration. This blatant mistreatment of the animals was not only shocking but also highly distressing. It is completely unacceptable to subject innocent animals to such harsh treatment, especially in a place that should prioritize their safety and well-being. Furthermore, the groomer's behavior escalated whenever a customer would enter the establishment. Instead of maintaining a calm and welcoming environment, they would become visibly agitated and take out their frustrations on the poor dogs. This unprofessional conduct created an uncomfortable atmosphere and left me questioning the integrity of the establishment as a whole. As a pet owner, I believe it is crucial to entrust our beloved companions to caring and compassionate professionals who prioritize their welfare. Unfortunately, Verdugo Pet Grooming failed to meet even the most basic standards of animal care and customer service. I strongly advise potential customers to consider alternative options in the Glendale area that prioritize the well-being of animals and provide a safe and nurturing environment. This guy is good as far as grooming is concerned, but he is the meanest, angriest person I've ever encountered. I went in on a weekend and instead of telling me politely that he was about to close for the day and that I should come back another time, he ignored me for 5 minutes--talked on the phone, looked for a pair of scissors, stared into space--while I stood there like an idiot, waiting, then proceeded to berate me for coming in on a Sunday. Hey, man, if you're closed, just tell me you're closed and I'll go away, but don't give me attitude. Every dog owner on my street hates this guy. If you value your little baby (that's pet talk for your Dog or Cat), then DO NOT go to this business. The groomer is abusive and acted intoxicated. He kept changing when the pick up time was, raised his voice several times (and was not professional in the least). A business CLEARLY reflects the behavior of the owner. In a city where there are many places that can groom your pets and several places where you can choose to spend your money, this place should NOT be one of them! I have been going to Verdugo Pet Grooming for over 10 years, I'm always thrilled with the cut he gives my King Charles Cavalier. I've tried several other places closer to my house but always disappointed with the service and the cut. I'm always pleased with the outcome and overall service here. I cant believe a business owner could cuss a young boy with an F word because the dog did something while he is in the business of dog grooming. This review is mainly for the petsitting & dog walking because we decided that was the best service they provided us. Just a quick note on grooming -- They only lost one star because the grooming wasn't entirely up to our standards. After our grooming visit, our dog experienced some temporary skin irritation on her back - possibly from dryer burns, hard brushing or just an allergic reaction to a shampoo used. Also, her hindquarters were clipped awkwardly, although that one may have been my fault for being unspecific in my request. Our dog and cat seemed like they were well taken care of on all the occasions we left them in this company's care. It was clear that our dog loved them. Our cat is sort of a snob, so who knows what he's thinking, but he did seem as content as usual when we got home. Tammy was our main sitter/walker there and our normally shy dog adored her & her little dog. Sometimes we'd run into them in the neighborhood and Star would get super excited to say hello. That says a lot! Also, the company was great about communication, before-during-after, provided easy billing, set up easy key exchanges and they were always pleasant & gracious. It was also nice that our home was always clean when we got home and everything was in its proper place. We recommend their petsitting & dogwalking services to others in Glendale. And we wish we didn't live so far away now so we could keep using them!

I've been taking my dog for the last 4 years. They have made mistakes along the way. Linda the…read moregroomer has always done a great job on Lucy. I trusted her to do a great job. I've also had other groomers take care of Lucy too. However, they didn't do such a good job as Linda. The hair cut was uneven and her hair wasn't completely dry. Until one day, I questioned where was Lucy matted because shaved her using #2 clipper. Her hair was completely gone. I wanted to cry, on how she looked. After asking where was she matted, Linda's response was, if you don't believe me, you are welcome to take Lucy to another groomer. I apologize to her and said, I'm not questioning your work, I was just confused because I combed Lucy out the night before. I was shocked on her response after I sold a box of candies for her daughter. After a month I brought Lucy to get groomed, Linda was out on medical leave and Lucy was taken care of by another groomer. That is where Lucy was not completely dry. I appreciate the service but not to happy. Now it was tying for Lucy to get a hair cut and groom and I called to set up an appointment for Lucy and found out that Linda did not want to groom Lucy anymore. The owner apologized and said the groomer had the right to decide which dog she would take care of. They couldn't give me a reason why she decided not to groom Lucy anymore. After 4 years, as prices increased each year and then monthly, I was still willing to take Lucy there but I have to say the service by Linda was disappointing to hear that she refused to groom Lucy moving forward. Not sure what happened but it would have been nice to know why. I'm assuming she took my questioning to a personal issue. With all this said, she can do a great job but also can refuse you at anytime without a reason. I am happy to say I found another groomer who did a great job and with care. I pay a little more than what Linda charged me but I would have continue to take Lucy to Linda even if she increases her price. However I rated the place as a 3 star based off the overall rating of cleanness, timely, friendliness and honesty.
