Brought my girl Bowie here for a grooming. It had been a while since I've had her properly groomed due to the fact that the last place I brought her to said I'd be charged extra for having to muzzle her. Overall, I got bad vibes from that place, so I settled with bathing her at home for a few months until her grooming needs outgrew what a regular bath could give her. Given that she is pretty timid around people she doesn't know, and doesn't like other dogs I was a little nervous about finding a new place for her. I found Pooch Pawlor Spa on yelp and after chatting on the phone about Bowie's temperament, I was reassured they'd be able to care for her. I made an appointment for the following day. Upon walking in, Pooch Pawlor Spa is clean and smells great, a solid start! They took Bowie pretty immediately and within only an hour she was ready to be picked up. She looks and smells amazing! The cost was on par with other groomers, but the quality of service far surpasses other groomers I've experienced. A huge thank you to the team at Pooch Pawlor Spa for taking care of my skittish girl. I'm so happy to have a new groomer for Bowie that I can count on.

I can't recommend Pooch Pawlor enough. They are truly the most caring and compassionate groomers. They always take such amazing care of my dog, Honey, and treat her like she's one of their own. Every time I pick her up, she looks absolutely beautiful and is so happy. What I appreciate most is that they always make time for us, even with their busy schedule. This was our first time coming here to this Spa for Bodhi (our Maltipoo). Due to emergency stay at my mom's house, this location popped up. I called in advance to ask if we could get pricing over the phone. I forgot to ask who I was speaking too initially; he scheduled us the following day at 10AM. Come to find out it was the manager who booked us and sent a friendly reminder text, confirming our appointment. Let me share that the staff was so friendly and helpful. I want to personally thank Rainer! He heard about our emergency situation and offered us a free service, collar and leash. Our Bodhi had chewed through his harness (anxiety) and his leash snapped as soon as we walked in. More importantly, as we're all feeling heartbroken & stressed with the LA fires, I wanted to share that this Parlor Spa has been contributing to not only us but those affected during this tragic time. I had my maltipoo groomed here. They didn't razor burn him like other places, (which was a plus,) but I noticed they hadn't brushed his teeth or clipped his nails so I requested them to please complete the service. Kind of not acceptable to miss such large details. Still, I gave them another chance for the next grooming. I called and some guy grunted out a "hello". (like, am I calling a business???) I've been coming to Pooch Pawlor for 3 years and still drive 45 minutes because they are that good. After two recent visits to have our dog groomed we felt very unsatisfied with our experience. The first visit was positive with only a 90 minute appointment. This was quick for us as we are used to longer bath appointments. However, upon arriving for the second visit my husband had to wait for 25 minutes to be seen by the groomer. When I went in to pick up our dog, the employee did not verify if I was in fact the owner, just let our dog out of the crate, ears still wet and nails not clipped. read more

I feel the need to share my dissatisfaction and poor treatment by this rescue. In the end one of…read morethe dogs I tried to adopt was harmed, in addition to me and my son because of how they mishandled everything. It was only 48 hours before getting this dog that the foster parent, not the rescue, informed me she had a prolapse rectum. The shelter didn't even know. Outside of being told she had a small cataract in her left eye, was told nothing else was wrong. In fact, the owner said she was "perfect.". This dog had dental disease, severe scarring in both ears and eyes to where she had limited vision and hearing. She was not potty trained at all. She was also severely underweight and could not handle a walk more than about four houses down my street. I agreed to take her with the understanding she would get the prolapse surgery after I got her, paid for by the shelter. The owner continued to disagree with every vet that saw her to talk about the surgery. No vet wanted to operate on her because she was malnourished and it was unclear why she was not able to gain any weight. All three vets said she should go on a hydrolyzed protein diet. The owner of the shelter refused stating the only food I could feed her was farmers dog. Finally after two months, the owner said I could put her on hydrolyzed protein food and she started gaining some weight. She had to get an ultrasound before the hospital would agree to do the surgery at that point. It took six weeks for the shelter to connect with the hospital that did the ultrasound to talk about next steps for the surgery. By that point I had had this dog for over three months and was dealing with all of the stuff I mentioned above. Because of all that at some point, I decided I could not do it anymore. It was a very painful decision to make and the shelter, made it extremely hard for me in the end. They were difficult to communicate with. I agreed to just fly her back to LA myself and the plan then changed three different times. They said they would come get her on a certain day, then changed it to another day then I said I would just bring her like I had planned then they asked me to keep her until they could find a place for her even though they said they had a place for her to go. Long story short it was extremely hard. I will put pictures of the texts from the owner in the end, who told me to literally stop complaining. The amount of time and money I spent out of my own pocket on this dog was significant. I thought at least an apology would be given, when I asked for one, the worker at the shelter stayed silent on the phone. And then the owner told me to stop complaining as you can see in the text photos. I share this to warn other people about what you might go through if you try to adopt a dog through them.

After adoption, Tales of the Paw also arranged for a consult session with a cat behaviorist, which I thought was very unique and made us feel extra supported. I'm so grateful that Tales of the Paw took in Mochi when she was a sick 4-week-old kitten and raised her into a confident and loving kitty who has stolen our hearts!

As with all training, the most valuable tools obtained is the knowledge given, and using such, the amount of time spent training outside of the class will garner the most favorable results. Committing hours each week with the week's lesson, my boy learned and Kyle's good instruction resulted in acquiring the skills I sought. My puller learned to heel, which was the main goal I wanted to achieve. He also learned to stay on command, but his recall (come to me) still needs some work. We are still working on a stellar outcome, he's stubborn. The pros of the class; good training, the training is demonstrated using Kyle's dogs, nice email communications which recaps the week's previous training sessions. I felt the class cost was appropriate, at the date of this review, approximately $60 per class. The cons of the class; we met at Brand Park in Glendale, and several of the classes were interrupted by park goers which allowed their unleashed dogs to interact during sessions. Not necessarily Trained Goldens fault, and understanding we are in a public park, my suggestion would be to rope off the class area and place signs instructing others to respect the class time and restrain their unleashed dogs. A total of 10 signed up and by mid-session we were down to half that number and only one (myself) attended the final class. We had one incident during week two which might have marred the group. One of the dogs in the class bit the instructor and his response was less than restrained. Kyle was apologetic, and understandably upset by the bite, but the dynamic of the group seemed to dwindle in the weeks thereafter. Aside from this one incident, I found Kyle to offer great training suggestions, found him to be a patient and caring instructor and would recommend this business to any looking to train their dogs.

We had a really bad experience at Pooch Pawlor last week - and Jason has not called me back after I called and talked to the front desk person twice to complain about the treatment that my dog received during her visit. They plucked her ears - which I have specifically told them not to do. They left her with cuts inside her ears and on her belly. They did not mention any of this to me when I picked her up. Jason has still not called me (this was Friday, Sep. 4 and it is now Wednesday, Sep. 9). In addition, this review by a groomer who tried to work at Pooch Pawlor I will never take my dog back there and neither should you. "First off, Jason isn't a groomer. Nor does he know anything about animals. After having the unfortunate experience of working here for 24 hours- BARELY- , I can honestly say that this place deserves to be reported to the ASPCA for ANIMAL NEGLECT/ABUSE. How this guy is able to run this kind of business with no professional background/education is SERIOUSLY SCARY!!! HE IS A HUSTLER!!!! It's insane that he lets you have your hands on the kind of tools that can seriously HURT DOGS after no formal training/introduction. Then has the nerve to blame you for clients being sent to "the vet", because of YOUR LACK OF EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION . If your dog is TIMID, HAS BEHAVIORAL ISSUES, NEEDS TIME TO FEELS SAFE, you came to the WRONG PLACE. After working in animal rescue/rehabilitation for over 15 years - I LEFT THIS PLACE IN TEARS, AFTER SEEING HOW FlOYD THEIR HEAD GROOMER, BRAGS ABOUT HOW TO MANHANDLE AND PHYSICALLY ABUSE CLIENTS DOGS. In this atrocious summer heat, there were NO WATER BOWLS IN ANY KENNELS. CLEARLY AGAINST THE LAW. I was chastised for "being too nice to dogs that were labeled as aggressive or "difficult", that clearly weren't. They just needed a little time, and patients. Too expensive for any pet parent to worry about???? PLEASE educate yourself and find somewhere to bathe your dog where they won't be traumatized for life" read more

Me and my friend just took our dogs here for the first time and we were both extremely happy with the service and results. First of all their staff is amazing; they are very friendly and you can tell they absolutely love animals.. I love how our dogs were treated like humans and not like paychecks. I have been looking for a reliable grooming shop for years and out of all the places I have tried out this is the #1 dog grooming spa that I would recommend anyone to. They went above and beyond all my expectations and with moderate prices. I live in Valley Village but don't mind driving the extra miles for my precious doggy..this place is so worth it ! Pooch Pawlor is definitely unique and provides all the services you can imagine. They go from bathing to grooming to dying and accessorizing your pet with feather extensions and manicures. Their groomers get pretty creative with the doggy hair styles too., they can do Mohawks and hair tattoos. I personally saw a dog walking out with a skull design on his back, and a raccoon looking tale to go with it. Wow they are so hip and up to date with their services. This is the best dog grooming salon in town. Ive lived in the neighborhood for about 20 years. i was taking my dog to petco for a long time and recently was not that satisfied with their service, but when this new cute place opened up around the corner of my house i decided to try it out. The salon is like a little boutique its very girl friendly and you feel comfortable right away. The groomer makes you feel right at home. I was kind of debating if i should take her to a different place before because of all the horror stories ive heard of about the different grooming salons but the groomer even let me come check out the place before i left my baby there. i took my little maltese there and she looked amazing. She smelled and looked amazing they also put on the cutest bandanna on her. they did an amazing job and i highly recommend them and will be back again, especially that they have Buy 10 Baths get one FREE!!!!! I have always felt comfortable bringing Pico my first dog to pooch Pawlor but today I was really disappointed. Even though I moved to Pasadena I still drive to Glendale to bring them here but today for first time in 4 years I had to leave him there for 6 hours. 2-3 hours is understandable but dropping him and his little brother Leo off at 12pm and literally picking them up at 6pm right before closing the doors is not fair, that means they have been sitting in a cage for 5.5 hours. I even called around 3pm and they said there are still couple of dogs ahead of them! (Then why did you give me an appointment at 12pm?!!) And all I get from the guy at the front is a very rude nodding and smirk while I'm really frustrated with absolutely no word in response. Unfortunately I will not bring them to pooch pawler anymore. read more

Been a loyal customer for about 6 years now , since the shop was open pretty much and have had nothing but the best experience. My dog does not get along with most groomers or bathers, but when I take him its like he lives there and knows exactly which cage to go to and just sits patiently. VERY IMPRESSED! I read one of the negative comments below me, and clearly you would have to think your some kind of Gods gift to earth to think your animal comes before other loyal customers to make other people wait just for your dog to be ready. Honestly with my knowledge with this pet spa is that if their is something negative it is definitely from the customers end. This was our second time getting our little puppy groomed, but first time here, and lets put it this way, this place showed us what real grooming is. The first grooming place we thought had done a good job until we saw the work pooch pawlor did, we realized how horrible other grooming places are. They don't cut any corners here and pay attention to every detail. Out dog stayed clean and smelled good for a long time after too. We are customers for life! They are super clean, sanitary and friendly atmosphere. I wouldn't only trust my dog with them, but if kids could be groomed, I'd probably take them here too! read more

We just completed our 9th visit to this fine outfit and we're happy to report that the work and service is still "par excellence." The dogs used to run for the door when we entered a grooming shop, but now look forward to their visits with Jason and Gang! There are no drawbacks, let alone disappointments to speak of which is likely why they're now busy throughout the week (and not just on Saturdays!) Thanks to Team Jason for all their hard work. Pooch Pawlor are the BEST groomers around!!! Not only have they done an incredible job on my Cockapoo Maggie, but they are the nicest people as well! The owner Jason is awesome and took time out to here all of my fears of getting Maggie back and her looking ridiculous! He heard in detail what I wanted and he even took out his camera to show me pictures of haircuts on dogs that they have done in the past that he thought I was describing! I have 2 Maltese and i try my best to keep their hair nice but their hair can get really bad! Lol Took my dogs in for a much needed groom today and let me say, this is the best place to take your dog! The staff is very friendly, the place is nice a clean and they have pictures and thank you notes from past customers. And to make it even better its a great price only 35 bucks for each of my dogs compared to other places that try to charge me 60-70 each! And they do a great job my dogs came out nice and clean smelling good! I definitely recommend this place to anyone! read more

I've been bringing my German Shepherd to Pooch Parlor every month for about four years, and I couldn't be happier! The service is always amazing, and the groomers are truly the best -- friendly, professional, and so gentle with my dog. I took my pitbull here for his grooming and I never feel comfortable leaving my dog anywhere but they made me feel so comfortable! My dog gets uncomfortable around people he doesnt know but here! He loved them...he was so happy although my pitbull doesn't get hair cuts or anything like that they did do a great job on his teeth, ears and nails. He was left so CLEAN and smelling so good! Ok today was my first time visiting this place. I took my cat for grooming they were pretty nice and friendly but it took them 6 hours to have my cat ready. I took my poor baby in @ 1:45 they told me give us about 2hrs, after 3hrs I called my cat still wasn't ready. At 7 o'clock I finally picked her up hungry and scared.... Ok so I needed a new grooming place to take my dog, a friend of mine recommended me to Pooch Pawlor. She said she had been taking her dog to them for over 3 months.
