Grooming service was terrible. The groomer was really rude and she did not do a good job on my dog. Never coming here again.

My wife was just in the store a few minutes ago. She did not realize the store was not open yet. The front door was wide open. The female clerk greeted her with an attitude and said," Do you have an appointment?" My wife said "No". The response again with attitude was, "We're not open yet." I am so grateful for this location. It's been hard to find my cat's prescription food locally, and this location had it! I brought in a fax from my vet with the prescription on it, and the Banfield on site made me a card with her prescription printed in it. Everyone I interacted with was wonderful - from the person who answered my phone call when I asked about the food, to the vet on site who printed the prescription card, to the cashier who sold me the food. read more

My family have been taking our 30lb lab mix bailey girl here every other month for the pawdicure plus and today is the last day the salon will receive our money. Adriana at the front desk was just plain rude. I asked if my dog could have a checkered bandana instead of the blue one (which made her look like a male dog) and she had told me "that one isn't in your package since it's a holiday bandana" which I then followed with an "oh, I wasn't aware there was a difference. Bailey's gotten the Halloween ones last month. But that's fine" so I took the blue one off and told her we had that one already we don't need it but thank you. As she was cashing us out in the salon she had another employee grab the other scarf. I had told her no it's fine thank you. Which she proceed with "well a minute ago you wanted it. Really, I don't care you can have it. " At that point I'm dumb founded by her because clearly she doesn't understand if you were gonna be petty about a scarf then no. I REALLY don't want it. I had told her " you said it wasn't in her package so we don't need it" POINT was to not be rude to your customers. If you really didn't care about giving it to us then WHY DID YOU MAKE YOUR COMMENTS TO BEGIN WITH?! It's always hit or miss in that salon with the girls at the front. Oh well. read more

My husband and i love shopping here for our pet's supplies. The employees are always so nice and not pushy. I took my dogs in for grooming for the first time today and both my dogs came out looking beautiful and the groomer (Lindsey) was so nice. She did a great job, my Boston Terrier who was a complete mess from living outside was clean, happy and I was overall very pleased. I loved the Progress Report card thing they gave me for my dogs! Just went in to replace a fish that died. We bought him Sunday and he died Tuesday night. Craig was EXTREMELY RUDE! We were told that our tank had to be set up for 24hrs before adding fish. Our tank was set up for almost 48hrs. He in a very matter of fact & rude way said it should have been 72hrs. He ruined the experience of getting a new fish for me and my daughter. He huffed & puffed when I asked if we could pick out the fish. Won't be back for our fishy needs since Petco is 2miles away. read more

If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. I had my Standard Poodle groomed by Danielle and it was horrendous. They claimed he was "unable to stand for 10 minutes" so they were not able to complete him. He looks ridiculous. There's more to the story, but luckily they have a "you're happy or it's free policy", which I was glad to envoke. There are plenty of good, caring dog groomers in the area to bother with this dump. awful real awful. I had to leave my selection at the register and walked out because I didn't have an email address. I WAS in their system however I had no email address to give them. Sales are for reward customers only who submit email addresses. Very deceitful and sneaky. Works great for them but not for us. Shame on them. Advertising in large font yet small print is very small on their signs. Bring magnifying glass. And make sure you read all fine print on sale items. Ridiculous. And I think of all the elderly who have not emails and they are suckered in yo their pricing trap. By the way, I went to Pet Co right after that. Although I was disappointed to find they too have a rewards program, they do not have strict guidelines like pet smart. Pet Co doesn't require an email address. I got the sales price without giving personal info let alone an email address. pet smart manipulates the consumer to give out personal private info. Pet Co does not. Awesome selection, that is for the rich. I thought $50 for a litter dome was on the pricy side. The store had horrible cell phone service and I know why, so you can't look up competitor pricing. I decided not to spend that much, left and when I got outside looked up the same dome at Petco for $32 dollars. read more

Grooming: the best groomers! My dogs are so happy afterwards and the groomers have the best attitudes. Been coming here for a year now.

I've been going to the grooming salon at the Petsmart in Vista for years and they were mediocre at best. They lost my appt TWICE and the second time I was over it so I started going to the Oceanside location. It's like night and day! The staff at the grooming salon are super nice and friendly and the salon is cleaner. My poodle looked adorable when I picked her up and they only had her for a couple of hours (unlike when I'd have to leave her in Vista for the better part of the day). I was very happy with my experience at this location and intend on using them for all my future grooming needs! read more

Young, inexperienced staff. Brought my 1 year old Jack Russell in to have her nails clipped and a bath. Bath was fine, but they said they were unable to clip her nails as she was too feisty. She's had her nails done a few times before without any problem. A well trained and experienced groomer wouldn't have given up on and just said 'meh, this puppy's too difficult, not gonna do it.' So, I took her to the PetSmart on College next to Sprouts where I usually take her and they took care of her nails, no charge, in roughly 2 minutes. I'll post a 5 star rating to the other PetSmart for taking me in at a moments notice and handling the job the other groomers couldn't. read more

7/2017: Brooke was outstanding!!!! We came in for crickets for our newly transformed tadpole into a frog. However, we left with 6 fish, a 10 gallon tank & all the accessories. Brooke was a gem. I had 3 little ones leading the charge on this fish thing & she was very patient. Although I would have prob said no- the kiddos were so excited I couldn't help it. So, we added 6 fish to our already busy house of frogs, dwarf hamsters & dogs. Thanks Brooke! read more

The training here did nothing for my dog. In fact, the trainer nicknamed my dog Cujo and kept feeding him treats which made him want to growl more... So we skipped the last two sessions of training, and apparently the trainer didn't even notice! She sent us a "thank you for completing the course" card. Glad it wasn't a TON of money... read more

This is the only location I will go to for a very simple reason...we love Tracy! She is the most loving, caring and kindhearted person. Our dog isn't the easiest to work with, but she is so incredibly patient. I am amazed every time I see her working. She makes it look so easy. She is definitely a natural with animals. Sometimes I need to book a week or two in advance just to make an appt with her, but she's totally worth it. I highly recommend Tracy. You'll be glad you did! read more

My review is only on Banfield, otherwise we love this Petsmart. We took our dogs, a 5 month old schipperke and a 1.5 year old lab/pointer mix. Our Schipperke had a diagnosed liver shunt. Our lab/pointer we suspected had bad hips. Dr. Rydell came into the appointment and rudely spoke over me. I informed him of the vet we had gone to previously for my Schipperke, Donut, but he ignored me and on top of that wrote all the info under the wrong dog. He then took a look at my other dog, Benedict, and didn't even examine his hips. He told me he was fine and too young to have hip problems. After that he prescribed trifexis to both of my dogs for flea/tick/heart worm prevention. I asked him if that was ok to give a dog with a liver shunt and he said yes it's fine so we went home and gave him his first does. A little less than a week later Donut got massive swelling under his chin and would not eat, play, use the restroom, or let anyone touch him. We took him to the Banfield in Vista, saw Dr. Donnelly. We ended up having to put Donut down due to the effects of the medication and the absolute lack of knowledge coming from Dr. Rydell (using the term dr very loosely). Next up, we start using Dr. Donnelly as our only vet and we talk to him about Benedicts hips. Dr. Donnelly does an X-ray, turns out he needs a double hip replacement. I suggest staying as far away from Dr. Rydell as possible, unless you like absolute jerks with little to no knowledge in their chosen profession. read more

A lot of younger groomers working there but this seems to be a plus at this facility and they seem to really love the dogs they work with. Good management and systems at this store. Just had our first puppy training class with Linda and it went really well. She was very knowledgable and reassuring and spent almost two hours with us even though it was only a one hour class. She took the time to address all of our concerns and answer our questions. We will definitely be signing our boy up for a course. He needs it! read more

My mini schnauzer Bella did absolutely wonderful!! She did have mats and they had to shave her, (which i knew was going to happen anyways). They did a wonderful job!! Just a FYI, they have to have an updated rabies shot. If they had it recently, they can't be groomed for 2 days after they get the shot....just something I had to go through. I wasn't told this, so I was a little irritated and had to rebook. read more

best Petsmart I've been to. super friendly and greet you when you walk in the door. since this is the only one I will go to now they all know me and my little doggy, Marley. if you ever want to get groomed here ALWAYS ask for Danae (Duh-Nay). I've tried almost every single person that grooms there and I will NOT let any other person groom my dog. the past experiences she would come home still smelly and shaggy and not trimmed enough or bleeding where they cut her nails too short so I found out Danae works there when she was in one of the puppy classes. she is the BEST! she knows her stuff and never disappoints. Marley always smells like a little sugar cookie lol she trims her perfectly at every and and I have always been more than satisfied. you won't regret letting her groom your pet!! read more

I have been to this location millions of times especially since we got a new puppy. I love all the staff that work in the store. I also took my puppy to the training classes and I loved the trainer (Chante). All her techniques were successful and she always gave advice to any of our other problems. She is so sweet and caring. I would recommend the training classes to anyone who is interested in them. I also signed up my two dogs with Banfield since I was referred from my friend about them. At first I really loved them. They took care of my dog well and were all very nice. Then one day I took my 2yr old shitzu/maltese to an appointment and when the vet asst. went to look under his tail he let out a little growl and turned is head around to see what she was doing and the vet asst looked so terrified and backed away from him. She said that he needed a muzzle and that he was vicious. (Are you serious?) These people knew what this job entailed and not all dogs are going to let you do whatever you want to them. Now every time we go in to Banfield they always look at my dog like he will bite everyone in there. This is so offensive because my dog is the nicest dog you will ever meet. Also it doesn't matter if I'm early or late they always take me back way late. They will talk everyone on the phones before dealing with the customers in front of them causing us to be "late" every time. Then the front desk is not friendly anymore, ever since one of the girls left. (she was the nicest). However all the doctors are soooo nice and caring for both my dogs. The grooming salon is cool. Danae is the best groomer for my dog. She takes my shitzu/maltese and never has any problems. I love Danae she is so sweet and is very detailed in her notes. Overall it really depends on what people you get when going to Banfield or grooming salon. Even after all the the problems, the good visits out weigh the bad since I still keep going to them and no one else. read more

I took my cat in yesterday for grooming at the Petsmart grooming salon. Brian, who groomed her was fantastic! He was gentle and patient and skillfully gave my cat a haircut. My cat is usually very irritated and grumpy when she gets her haircuts and she seemed to be very calm and tolerant when Brian did it. I highly recommend him and will definitely be booking all of her future haircuts with him! read more

Just took my rescued Doberman to get her nails done for the first time while she was awake. She was very shy and really only trust my husband and myself so far. I have been trying to do them for about 2 months. I turn on the grinder and use it on myself. Let her smell it ect...she would just not let me near her nails with it. So today I was fully prepared for everything to go wrong. To my delight, Alexa whisked her away and ten minutes later she came prancing out with her nails done perfectly. I purchased a dumbo rat named Tulip from this location. They had two rats for sale -both females, one a dumbo and the other a fancy rat. Now I know PetSmart is no longer selling rats but this horror story probably extends to all their adoptable pets. Now the fancy rat was offered to me for free due to her habit of biting, so naturally i went for the one that was advertised as sweet and full priced. (Side note- both of these rats were by them selves and were claimed to have been healthy and checked up on.) I ended up buying the "sweet" dumbo girl for full price but when I got home I noticed something weird. Tulip (the dumbo) was acting very frantic and lost and scared. Over the 2 weeks that I had her she bit and drew blood from myself, my father, and my girlfriend. (3 weeks later I still have bite marks riddled on my fingers. Due to this terrible biting my family and I searched for a rat rescue that would take my Tulip in and help train her to be more social and less scared, however when I brought her in to the rescue Wee Companions down in San Diego, the rat expert took one look at her and said/diagnosed her with a brain tumor. A brain tumor that had not been treated by PetSmart and not even disclosed when we adopted her. Please do not trust this awfully abusive store to adopt out healthy and well taken care of pets. read more
