This place seriously needs to STOP hiring employees that either hate their job or feel burdened by customers. Simba was the cashier and from the very moment she started scanning our items, her disdain for us and her job was so clear. She spoke with irritation, she asked us FOUR times to our phone number, and she snapped at my husband when he was stunned at the amount of times it took her to get our phone number correct. Until they hire staff that doesn't hate being in customer service, I'll shop elsewhere, even if it means paying more. It's worth paying more to be made to feel like our business is valued. read more

Worst customer service! I was totally out of dog food and rushed to PetSmart & literally walked up to the door at 7:01 and the guy at door wouldn't let me in. I pleaded to him like 5 times that my dog was completely out of food and I knew where the food was and I would be in & out in less than 1 minute and he said NO, we are closed come back tomorrow! Meanwhile there were 3 ppl still in the store and someone walked out of the door while we were talking! I guess their motto, "We'll do anything g for pets", doesn't apply!!! I'm giving 5 stars because Jamie did an excellent job grooming my dog. Evelyn who has been grooming my dogs moved but recommended Shelby because she trained her. I trusted that when I booked the appointment with Shelby (Evelyn booked the appointment) that I would get her. For whatever reason this did not happen and they weren't busy. This is not the first time I didn't get who I booked an appointment with. I will say that Jamie was amazing from the time I walked through the door, my dog was very well taken care of and I couldn't be more pleased! I can only hope that when I book the next appointment and ask for Jamie that I get her! read more

Rude customer service! My son and I walked up to a cashier because there was an employee there and she turned around and looked at us with a dirty look and said, " Do you need something?" It was the absolute rudest reply. I told her we thought she was open and she turned around and walked away. Her name was Symba and she could use some customer service training. While I appreciate that PetCo sells JustFoodForDogs, a food that turned my dog's health around, they convinced me to purchase a "plan" that would give me coupons to help with the cost of the food. First, read the fine print before you sign up. You must pay about $20/month for this plan and you must do it for a year. And Second, you cannot cancel even if your pet dies and you have no further use for anything in the store. Don't go for the plan. Otherwise, the store is a good choice. read more

The Chameleons at this location are bound to die. It has it in a tiny class cage with a regular light bulb. There is no UVB light and no basking bulb. For water, the chameleon is given a dish. The chameleon can't recognize still water and will die. It's poop was yellow, meaning it is severely dehydrated. The humidity level was at 20%. It's supposed to be 60-85%. The poor chameleon is going to die from dehydration or MBD. read more

To the two workers in the grooming department: I think it's absurd that you require a dog to stand for 2hrs. Sounds a lot like torture. Ever got your hair cut where there was no chair? Yea, me neither. Also, you are not trained vets. So when my dog walks away only realizing that I'm no longer around and lays down, it's because he doesn't want to go. He was obviously nervous and scared; the same way he acts in the vet, passive resistance is what we are seeing here. So there is no need to insult my dog by calling him unstable and that you are worried about his health. Bc again, you are not qualified to make this judgement. Not sure if you are aware but the grooming section is in the back of Petsmart and you saw me walk in with him, and not carrying my 86lb "unstable" dog. Seems to me and my qualified vet think he can walk just fine. Also, for reference, I've taken him to the same grooming center in November and the one in La Jolla in October. The lady who groomed him mentioned he was laying down and that's why he may be a bit damp still. Not sure the real reason you refused me service, but it's a poor way to treat anyone. Will be sharing my story else where so other people can avoid this trouble. read more

So it took a month to get a grooming appointment set up with Alexa during this COVID time we are in. Unfortunately I had a family emergency this morning and was running behind. I called the Petsmart Grooming and told them I was running late to see if I could still make it. They said, YES that if I can be there in 15 mins. I am driving like "an Alexa" down College. I get inside and they say I will have to reschedule IN A MONTH. I understand I was late and it sets everything back. But why tell me I can still be seen only to be turned away when I get there! I would NEVER go back to this location with these very rude groomers. Alexa I wish you luck on becoming a decent person. You were a real asshole today. read more

Just bought a $200 tank kit for a bearded dragon and the basking bulb did not work. The store refused to exchange the bulb due to Covid-19, which the tank kit was purchased a half hour before. Its ridiculous the store would not exchange a bulb that was faulty and had to purchase a new bulb instead. read more

One of your guinea pigs had ear bites which is common in pure aggression during fighting and/or other guineas displaying dominance. I've been a long-time customer of PetSmart, specifically this location. Since the pandemic started, I started ordering curb-side to limit exposure. However, every time I ordered, there is always 1 or more badly dented cans in my order. The kind you would never put in your basket if you were shopping inside. This time I called the manager and explained my situation. She told me to return to the store for a refund. I told her it didn't seem fair that because their employee failed to check my order, that now I have to make another round trip. She then said I could call corporate. We all know how that goes, you're on hold for about an hour and then your transferred all around the office. Again, I told her that I didn't want to go through that because of their error. Couldn't they simply credit my account? I offered to send them a picture of the busted can. But no luck. She kindly told me to buzz off. I know it's only a $1.89, but it's the principle. The whole point of curb-side pick up is convenience and speed. Now that gone down the tubes. So remember the next time you do curb-side, check your can in the parking lot, because they don't care if your pet gets sick from bad food, or if you have to make another trip. And to the employee to put the dented can in my bag, I say, "You had one job." : ( read more

This place is not good!! This was my second time here. The first time I went, the groomer called me to bring my dog in early. I called 4 hours later to see if he was done, and was told to come at closing. When I got there, they were still cutting him. The haircut was choppy and uneven. I wasn't happy about it, but I understand that things sometimes happen. I wanted to give this place another chance. My appointment was today at 1:30. I got to the pet salon at 1:20. The door was locked. I went up front to the cashier to see if they were open. She made a couple of phone calls, and found out they were at lunch. At 1:40 they came back, and I checked my dog in. I was told they were short a groomer, so he wouldn't be ready til at least 5:30. I did not want my dog to sit in a cage for 4+ hours for a simple haircut and nail trim. And have it turn out choppy again. Rather than cancel the absent groomers appts, they were just going to cram all the dogs in. Not a good way to get repeat business. read more

I came to this location for grooming. The staff was very helpful and they were caring and made sure that pets were feeling at ease when being dropped off. My labrador retriever got the Furminator treatment, and when I picked her up a couple of hours later she smelled great and looked awesome. Make sure you also ask about the "package deals they have" or any other specials. I added the nail grinding at the last minute and it was on sale. Much cheaper than advertised on their website when I made the appointment booking. Prices are reasonable for pet grooming and you can make appointment online. read more

I normally prefer petsmart to any of the other local pet supple stores and it also helps that they are 5 minutes away from my home. But I gave them a 1 star rating because of their recent new policies regarding bully breeds at their doggy day camp programs. Being the owner of two amazing pit bull mix rescues it is extremely disappointing to see such a large well known and respected cooperation put in place such an ignorant policy. In light of this decision I will no longer shop/support petsmart. I personally believe that each dog should be evaluated regardless of their breed, after all their behavior only reflects their owners training, attention and care given to that dog. That being said, aggressive dogs are not limited to a certain breed, and being that petsmart deals with all of these amazing four legged creatures it is extremely dissapointing that they would shine a negative light on such an amazing loving breed of dogs. Very rude customer service on 4/29/21 at 8:00pm. The atmosphere here is of hostility and unkindness. The woman at the front cashier (middle aged blonde caucasian) gave us dirty looks when we walked in, no idea why. Then we were looking at the animals for sale, instead of asking us if we needed help, the employee (younger blonde caucasian woman) rudely turned the light off, and gave no apology at all. If they're turning the light off because they are closing, I understand but it there was still one hour left until closing. Even so, she should've said something to us instead of turning the light off so we couldn't pick out a pet. You can tell they don't care for the guinea pigs here because an aggressive one was harassing and abusing a smaller one. Really bad vibe here, I would not trust these mean and abusive people with my pet. From reading all the negative reviews of other customers who have experienced poor customer service in retail, grooming, and veterinary here, it's obvious this is a recurring issue that is tolerated by management. This Petsmart on Marron Rd. in Oceanside is not recommended. read more

This is our second time at this Banfield location. So far, neither experiences have been overly good. I arrived at 9:10 am for a 9:20 am appointment. They opened at 9, and I was told to wait, walk around, whatever, for 10 minutes until it was convenient for her. Last time I was here for shots and quick check up and I was here, with an appointment, and it took nearly 3 hours. If you're coming here, expect to spend the day? Maybe pack a lunch and something to read? I will say this. All our experience with the vet and assistants have been positive. They are very nice and seem to really enjoy their jobs. If that can rub off on the check in staff, then that would be a vast improvement. read more

i love this store! i take my greyhound/beagle mix for a bath and nail grind about once or twice a month. she's an older lady (7.5) and she gets anxiety in most places. the petsmart grooming staff is always SO sweet with her. so much patience and they're so nice with her. you can tell they all love their jobs and the dogs they work with. it's always clean and they're always friendly. i used to go to petco but they were obviously mean to my dog and complained that i didn't make more frequent appointments when i had explained she can't go in that often and doesn't need it. they never do this. they understand!! awesome deals and it's easy to book appointments or just walk in. i will never go anywhere else! read more

This review is specifically for the grooming salon. We take our 100 pound mutt here for a bath and brush on a regular basis. They do a spectacular job! Whenever I tell our dog that he is going for a bath, he gets completely excited and can't wait to bust through the doors at PetSmart! The girls in the back know exactly who he is and love him to pieces. You would think that he was neglected at our house the way he latches on to them. They pamper him into a pile of fuzzy mush! I have three cats and this is a pet store that I use a lot. They have a decent selection of toys and supplies. They sell a huge amount of food, but I wish that instead of rows and rows of all the same brands, they would offer a bigger variety of food from different sources. I try not to feed my cats starches or by-products so it is frustrating to be looking at food and finding a lot of Friskies, Hills, and Blue Buffalo but no Before Grain or Tiki Cat. The helpers at PetSmart are always very friendly. They try to be helpful and informative but a lot of what they say should be taken with a grain of salt. They seem usually to be repeating what they've been told and don't have a deep understanding of pet health and nutrition. read more

Used to be ok before COVID but now not good. I had an appointment for my fur baby and I have been doing my best for the past year to take care of his brushing and bathing needs at home. He had always looked so much better after being groomed by them. When I brought him in I knew he had some knots that would need extra attention but they told me they would have to just shave him bald. That is what they were doing to the 2 dogs they were working in at that time. I did not leave him I took him home and brushed him out and it did take like an hour but he still has fur. You would think corporate would look at these reviews and make changes to better service their customers and overall store. I called in at 4:30pm on Sunday, I was told they close the grooming area at 6pm. I went across town to get my fur baby's nails trimmed, arrived at store at 5:10. The salon was cleaned, dark and closed. They clearly left earlier than 5. I told the girl I spoke too on the phone that I was coming from across town, She did not care. I spoke to the manager upon arrival, she was rude and basically did not care about my time or gas. The signs clearly state that they closed at 6pm. If you close at 6, you stay until 6!!! Why would management let them leave when they want? Very rude, and we have been buying all of our products and supplies at that store for over 4 years now. read more

It's a PetSmart. There's not really a lot to say about it - The location is nice, big, and well kept and the selection is on par with any other PetSmart. I've been here with my dog, and it was a pleasant experience (other than my dog being scared of everything with a shadow.) The staff is very friendly and you can tell many of them actually like dogs. A couple of them went out of their way to help me out when I needed to pick up a replacement dog leash. I haven't taken advantage of the training and grooming services so I can't speak to the quality of those services. Need a chew toy though, it's a good place to pick one up. Walmart will be cheaper in price and quality, online you can find cheaper and equal quality but you gotta wait. read more
