I waited to write a review until we gave the place a second chance. Went there opening week and I can tell you the only good thing was the service. We waited for about half an hour to be seated which was expected as it was the first week. We had a nice waitress named Lorraine and she was very prompt and attentive. It was easy to remember her name because my friend had the same name! The food, however, left us a little upset. We decided to wait a couple of weeks to give them a chance to calm down. Came back on Thursday this week for lunch and asked for the same waitress. She remembered us and brought our drinks without even having to confirm what we liked. I ordered the French onion soup and it was terrible. The broth had absolutely zero flavor and the onions were cut so large. I didn't enjoy it at all. I had a grilled cheese sandwich on rye with it and that was okay, I mean you can't mess that up right? My friend had a BLT wrap and the chicken inside was rubbery. Not the best food. It's also extremely loud inside so be prepared for that. read more

We were so happy the dinner opened back up. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. We ordered burgers, medium. Smash burgers were like two small fast food burgers, ratio of bun to burger way off. Greek burger dry as well, neither burger came with lettuce or tomato. The fry's were also not fresh. Don't know if this was an off night but will not go back $47 plus tip! read more

Excellent neighborhood diner! Years ago we used to frequent another diner on Deer Park Avenue but discovered this gem when the other went downhill. Their burgers are so good, juicy and tastes chargrilled. Fries not greasy and service was professional. Can't wait to try others on their extensive menu. So for my 100th Yelp review I decided to go somewhere magical! What better place than the Peter Pan Diner! Let's begin why this diner didn't get 5 stars from me. This diner, with its cute name seems a tad run down on the outside. While there is plenty of room to sit, my personal menu had a large hair on the inside (yuck!). The menu is extensive but the prices are very high. While my 3 egg omelette was stacked and delicious, $20 for a veggie omelette was expensive. I went to order lettuce and tomato as a substitute for the potatoes, but the up-charge for that was $2.00! Which I think is high for some lettuce. The coleslaw served with the tuna sandwich was tasteless. The bathrooms were dirty and broken down. Last, while there is a lot of parking, that lot was crowded and difficult to maneuver. Now folks, let's discuss why it should have gotten 5 stars. When you enter, the bakery goods are upfront and center, and the smell of the pasteries is amazing. The service was excellent and our server was very friendly. Coffee was replenished by receiving a new cup each time "to avoid it getting cold" from the last coffee. The food was very, very good. Every thing from the cheese omelette to the tuna sandwich to the egg white omelette was stuffed and full and tasted great. The French fries were golden brown and crisp. The coffee was strong, like I like it. Now....get this....Monday through Friday, you can get unlimited pancakes with your breakfast or lunch meal. Let me repeat....unlimited! Now the cakes were good...the best? Nah, but with syrup and butter, who cares! So all in all this diner gets the 4 star treatment. I will be back for more of those free flap jacks! A bit disappointed this last time dining at the diner. I had a Belgium waffle with a side of bacon and it wasn't as crisp and flavorful as I've had previously. Syrup in a little pre-packaged packet was a bit of a disappointment as well. Staff was friendly as always though. read more

Just moved to the area and visited this diner for the first time. My fiancé got the chicken fingers with onion rings. Both were very crispy. I did a hot chocolate which was very chocolatey. And the short French toast with sausage and fried egg. All was very good and would get again. read more

Last night it was so cold that wanted something hot and comforting after a long day. We ordered Hot Open Turkey sandwiches and after order already went in, I called to see if I could have corn instead of the veggie the day , which was ordered. (Our meal also came with a potato and soup or salad we opted for the salad.) Anyway, a very nice man said veggie was steamed spinach but he would do his best to send corn. I figured I would wind up with the spinach & that as fine. Much to my surprise, I got my corn as a side! Sounds like a little thing but meant a lot to me. Thank you! I highly recommend Peter Pan. We've been coming here for so many years. And this was always one of our favorite diners. I believe they changed hands because everything is different. The prices are all so outrageous and this is the first time on any of my reviews that I have said anything about price and I go to some very spendy places, but it's expected and warranted. However, a tuna sandwich on rye bread with no sides and not a platter should never be $16. The service was OK, the menu was changed. It's definitely a different diner now and the change was not a positive one for us. My Russian/ thousand island dressing had no pickles in it and was pink. There were no regular sandwiches on the menu only Panini's and wraps. They scale down on the burger menu. So I suppose by us just ordering regular sandwiches with no sides. We were charge for platters anyway as if we had ordered Panini's and we didn't. They should've told us. We won't come back, because this was one of two diners that we regularly enjoy, and the other one is still the same. I wish them luck though. read more

I am so disgusted on what happened tonight. The coward of the manager she allowed these dirt bags bring in there own Coors beer in and they made a mess. They were loud and using language that we moved our seats and there were kids hearing this and the poor waitresses were abused and the manager did nothing ! All she was worried about was the $270 bill and left a dollar tip, and didn't care about the rest of their customers. She came by us and told us there is nothing she can do. I looked at here and said excuse me you call the cops. So they were drunk you allowed them to drink i hope they don't kill someone tonight they spud out and drove on the wrong side of the road. While waiting for my car at a nearby dealer I walked over because I was tired of waiting and I was starving. This is a classic old school diner with an old feel. The staff is friendly and seems to be a spot where people frequent. The food is your basic diner food that is still delicious. I had a wrap and my son had French toast. Both were so good. I recently went here to eat in with a friend of mine and realized again how much this place really stands out among the other diners in the area. Reasonable prices, good food, good service, and most importantly, I cannot stress this enough-- hot, strong, fresh coffee. Even at 9pm, and they don't skimp on the top-offs. Can't tell you how many diners I've been to for the late night breakfast hit and they give me a cup of gray lukewarm bean juice, it's so disappointing. i dined in on a thursday night and it was pretty empty. an hour til closing. most diner's are supposed to be open late night but no big deal. a lot of things on the menu sounded delicious but i got the mac & cheese grilled cheese which wasn't the best but also wasn't terrible. it was basically kraft mac & cheese with bacon on it. the bread was good. the tomato basil soup was delicious and nice to dunk the sandwich in. but the best part of this place is the DESSERT. i ended up taking home rainbow cookie crumb cake and i will definitely be coming back for more. my family loves this cake as well. read more

Came here after a long day out in Long Island with a friend. We decided we were gonna share because it was late at night but we knew we were hungry. We ordered the pizza looking fries which was absolutely delicious, I've never had anything like it and it was just so perfect. We also ordered the chicken wrap, which was pretty heavy but super yummy. We shared the chicken Parmesan with pasta dish as well and it was good too. I have no complaints to this place and neither does my friend. He said and I quote "for diner food, this is pretty freaking good". And I couldn't agree more.
