Just had a nasty experience with a cashier named Josie. I was questioning whether or not my $10.00 coupons had been used -- they had, but I hadn't figured out the $8.00 plus tax on my $100.00 order. I was showing her the receipt and I was trying to figure out why my order, after coupons, was still over $90.00 when the whole order, including my donation, was $95.00 BEFORE coupons. Instead of walking me through it, she was condescending, rolling her eyes and smirking, especially once the "manager", Durian/Dorian came up, who looked to be all of 17. The whole time I'm explaining that yes, I overlooked the almost $9.00 in taxes, but I still felt like my coupons weren't applicated, her and Josie were smirking at each other. Durian/Dorian then tells me, in a tone one couldn't take very seriously, that her and Josie "will be having a conversation". I'm sure they will. We shop here all the time, and have for years. We always happily make donations with each visit. If I have a question about my purchase (not to mention why customers are now being charged for bags), then I feel my issues should be addressed without condescension and a nasty tone, which only escalated things to an unpleasant level. I expect better treatment from your company. read more

The grooming manager at this location is totally inept. Ashley normally groom's my mini Schnauzer, but was off today. The manager and other groomer today totally butchered my mini Schnauzer. They say she was too matted. I explained that this was the condition I always brought my dog in to the groomers. Ashley NEVER once complained about my dog being matted. Ashley just went about her business and ALWAYS did a fantastic job. If you use this location for grooming, ask for Ashley and beware of the others. Ashley gets 5 stars, the others get zero stars. read more

They did a good job with their nails and their fur was very soft. They came out smelling good and fresh.. However they did not receive a bandana/bow afterwards. I love when they come out w/ a bandana after a bath cause it's a final touch of showing that they're clean and fresh. Also, I added the deshed on my husky and she is still shedding hair balls. I know it wouldn't be perfect, but I wonder if they really took the time to get under her coat. read more

In my opinion, they either don't want new grooming customers or are very under staffed in the grooming department. It took me three weeks to make the grooming appointment. Then on the day of the appointment, they called to cancel because the groomer had called off. When I called back to re-schedule the appointment, they told me they had to wait for the groomer to come back so they could "fit me in." I had tried in June to make an appointment and they told me that they couldn't get me in until August. When I went on line in August, they said nothing was available until September It's now nearly October and I've still haven't been able to get in to the groomer. read more

Legitimately wish zero stars is was a thing! My mom did a curbside pick up order and there was a, and I quote, "glitch in the system" that apparently all they do is make you pay a second time and say that money should be put back on your card. So mom had to pay twice for her not at all curbside pick up with no recourse. If the money doesn't go back to her account, which it hasn't yet, how could she prove that she didn't get what she paid for? She basically was made to pay twice. That is sick to take advantage of people who are trying to do all the right things while we are dealing with a pandemic. I will say that we will never shop at Petco again! read more

Seriously does anyone work in aquatics here? Waited an HOUR for someone to help, walking back and forth to the register to have someone called back there. There were two other customers doing this. Saw two employees enter the aquatics area and disappear into the back room only to not return. FINALLY had two employees to come in and help us and the first one was elderly and relied on a cane to get around, so that was an obvious ploy to avoid angry customers. You can't be mad an elderly woman with a cane. Nevertheless, this is not the first time I have dealt with nonexistent employees in the aquatics area and it probably won't be the last unless Petco does something. read more

Just stopped in to buy two bags of dog food. So I walk in and there is no shopping carts, I ask the cashier where are the carts? She tells me to go get one from outside. One star is about right. For grooming, yeah...they canceled my appointments twice in a row hours before the appointment, even after I called to confirm the appointment and was affirmed the time was good. Third times a charm right? Nope! I called, they had no record of an appointment being re-re-rescheduled but said they'd try to work them in. How nice of them to honor an appointment they canceled twice already. The appointment: First, does Petco do drug tests of its employees? The girl acted like she was high, seriously. Very spacy. Customer Service: Minimal Communication: You have to ask everything in detail they don't tell you what their services are, and they got visibly irritated when you asked. I have yet to pick the dogs up, the only thing that will have me coming back is if they are heads and shoulders above the rest....but the way the groomer was talking, they were more making excuses if my dogs have cuts or clipper marks, which will not be acceptable. Update: They only did 1 of the two dogs I gave them. They shaved the little one completely, only after I got home did I notice long red clipper marks on his chest and side. One or two clipper marks where they went to deep happens, but to be the entire length of the body? I am sure the animal yelped and squired and they didn't take it as a sign. The other dog, they only shaved her backside and stopped. WOW! They changed clerks on me during checkout, I asked the clerk if she had rung everything up. She assured me she had. I got a call from the store in response to my original post... I never gave them my number or other contact info. I was happy to pay for a crappy half assed job and never darken their door again. I guess they follow yelp. It turns out the clerk didn't ring up the shave and maybe they want me to change my post. We'll see. As for the store manager "wanting to make things right?" Sorry, my little dog is terrified at this point... make it right by what? discounts on bad grooming in the future? Think about it, you go out to eat, get food poisoning, to make it right, the place offers more free bad food that will make you sick? And it is kind of big brotherish for you guys to cross reference my post to my customer name and call me at work... good sleuthing. read more

So we didn't buy anything at this store because they were rude to us. My two year old daughter started jumping up and down saying she had to go "pee pee", but they wouldn't let us use their restroom because they said "we don't have a public restroom." They made us go next door to the bike shop, and the bike shop told us the scoop: Petco does have a restroom, they just don't let their customers use it. She creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for you and your pet, and is a highly skilled groomer. I really like this store!!! I took my dog in May of 2017 when I moved to riverside and they groomed him and he was one happy puppy! Every time I go in to get dog food or treats or just to see what's new the workers are so helpful and very nice! I'd like to start the review by saying I go here fairly often. I typically spend my time in the fish aisle, shopping around for my tank or new fish. I started coming here about 3 months ago when I got into the fish keeping hobby, and one employee who really stands put is Julio, the aquatic specialist. He is always really helpful whenever I am there. He always answers all my questions to the best of his abilities, and does not sugar coat anything, which is what I'd prefer. He is very knowledgeable about the fish that he has, and is always really respectful with all the customers I see when I am there. (I see a lot since my typical Petco day is like 30 minutes to an hour just debating on what I really want). Overall I am very pleased with the service I have gotten from this location, which is why I continue to come here every week to check what's new etc. read more

I came in at the store and saw an Albino rare python for one! I fell in love with her and i have to say that the stuff was so nice to let me pet her. I went 4 days in a row to just see if she is going to be discounted! I failed to get her on discount a couple of times but on the 4th time, i have spoken to the manager and she was so nice that she have given me a discount so I can take her home! Awesome customer service! I believe her name was Chery! Patricia who was so helpful was also awesome with the guy on the Fish area! I love this location and so does our Pug Archie! He's very well known and always acknowledged and cared for when he walks in. I've taken Archie to other spas and he never comes home happy like he does after seeing Brandy! She's amazing with him! We're very well aware that Archie is a handful but she somehow manages to make him happy and clean! As soon as Archie walks into Petco he immediately goes to the grooming department, sits and waits for his friend Brandy to come out and greet him. Mean groomer! I was in there for vetco about 10:50 this Sunday 6-3-18 when walking by saw a groomer on the end table bigger lady then the other two in there being really rough with a little chihuahua trying to do his nails I don't understand why she didn't stop if he didn't like it. read more

I always get all of my dog and cat toys here. My puppy recently had an injury and needs to be kenneled for a majority of the day to stay rested. I needed bones and toys to make sure she was entertained for the next few weeks. Emmett was an amazing help! This update is for Petco Grooming only. Our dogs have been getting groomed here for almost 3 years and prior to today, had amazing series. I just called to make an appt and was advised that one of my dogs rabies certificates had expired. I misplaced the certificate but have the receipt showing I paid for 3 years. At our last visit I showed them my updated certificate for the 3 years but the information was entered wrong into the grooming system, so it again shows expired... Normally, not a huge deal! Especially since our vet was Vetco, which was in the same building as Petco and right next to grooming. BUT it's an issue now, bc Vetco closed with out notifying any clients! So as I am trying to explain this to the groomer, she's giving me attitude and said and I quote "yea they didn't notify us either" ok... So then you would think she would be able to help me out a little, maybe have more understanding. I had to practically beg for a number to reach Vetco and try and get ahold of my dogs medical files! The girls attitude completely turned me off and I'll now be going to another groomer, one that has a lot more space to groom and care for my dogs! read more

Brought my husky here to get groomed for the first time and I was not really satisfied. You get what you pay for I guess paid the extra 35 for deshedding and it virtually didn't do anything. He still has a ton of hair flying off of him. As soon as I got in the car and wind hit him hair went flying everywhere. Waste of 65 dollars and two hours. I will not be bringing him back here for sure. read more

My friend and I with our puppies just finished Puppy 1 training with Joe. What a pleasure he is to work with. Very knowledgeable, pleasant, patient he made the class fun and helpful for us and the pups. Looking forward to Puppy 2 class with him. I do not like the service given here... unfortunately. The store is very nice and clean, but that does not make up for the poor customer service. I went to buy my dog a few treats, and a new toy for my cat. I did not have the rewards card, and the cashier asked me if I wanted one, and I said yes. He completely ignored me and just told me the price and proceded with the check out. If you don't care for customer service, then I guess this is the store for you. read more

The store itself is OK. Just like normal pet stores are. However, the customer service is severely lacking. I called today to inquire if this store carried a product that I wanted. The phone was answered by Jen, who then hung up on me mid sentence. Although frustrated, I called back and the call was immediately put on hold, not even answered. The phone was eventually answered by Jen. There were long awkward pauses after I asked my questions. I even had to say "hello?" To see if she was even there and repeat my question. People that work the floor very helpful, the dog food we were recommended is amazing the animals love it! But as far as grooming, seems like only a few people do anything. Most just stand there and kill time wasting hours while Petco pays them. I'll pay the little extra and go back to her other groomers, farther but at least they are more efficient with time. I'm sorry your dog shouldn't be there from store opening until midday with 4 people working in the grooming shop. read more

I was completely overwhelmed by the selection of dog food and brand's. I had no idea what to get my beautiful new puppy (4 month old husky). I was in need of some help. Jessica began telling me she had a husky and hers was her princess so she was a little picky eater and recommended the brand she uses. Frank over heard us and give some very helpful advice by recommending and brand they don't carry (sorry to through you under the bus Frank) and that's a little more affordable then some of the name brands. Woah talk about putting the customer first I wish more companies would train there employees like this. Putting the customer first and there needs even if you may not carry what there looking for. Recommending what they should get and where is superior customer service if you need any advice these are the 2 you should talk to. To top that off the gave me samples of the dog food and treats for free I didn't even purchase that is how you treat a customer "thank you guys!" This petco has earned my businesses. P.S. I looked up an item on their website then went to the store to buy the item. The online price was 7.49. The store price was 11.99. WHAT??? I bought the item anyway not wanting to waist a trip and figuring that I may have looked at a small bottle online (1oz) rather than the 2oz bottle that was in store. But when I got home and looked it up again, yep same size. How can they charge 4.50 more for something that is sold on their own website? I never liked petco and I'm now remembering why. I called to speak with the store manager about this, and was informed that they don't price match with their own website. We as consumers pay more for their products in store because its shipped from the manufacturer, then to petco warehouse then to the store. That's how it is with every store. It's shameful that petco treats their customers this way. I will never patronage their store or website again. read more

Yikes.. The employees inside avoided me like the plague. One turned the corner to walk down an isle I was on, saw me and turned right around and went down the next aisle. Anyone I encountered ignored my presence completely and when my 5 month old puppy happily tried to greet one employee stocking items he was ignored as well. The girl who rang me up was somewhat sweet but obviously didn't want to be there. Besides the horrid customer service, the condition of this store is awful. Old, very dirty, unorganized. Dirt and balls of hair in corners, dirty walls. The most shocking was actually the parking lot.. There was old beer cans and trash everywhere, even worse, broken bottles! I can't believe how unsafe this was for me or my puppies feet. The Petco off McKinley is less than 4 miles away and a MASSIVE improvement, that's where I would recommend you take your pets. read more
