I don't get why this location has 1 star reviews. I've been coming here for 10+ years and I haven't had a bad experience!! The store is clean and the associates are always helpful. They helped me choose the best dog food for both my dogs. They're honest and know what they're talking about. I enrolled my pup to puppy classes with Tanya and I'm happy. She's caring and educated. This petco doesn't groom cats. If you want to buy a bunny you have to go through a different Carrier and apply online. No bunnies on sight. They seem to never have a lot of reptiles on display. Betta Fish need to be taken care of. I bought 2 fishes that died. You should google how to pick a healthy Betta online. If your fish dies you can return it BUT you have to bring the receipt, dead fish and a sample of the water you had the fish in. Betta price: $5-$15 read more

DON'T BUY FISH FROM PETCO! They sold us an Ich infected fish which in turn infected our entire tank. We have had these fish for years, and they were very hardy. So far, we lost the original fish that infected the tank, and we lost one of our old guys. Apparently, the poor guy also got a bacterial infection which completely dissolved his fins. We went to the store and told them they'd sold us an infected fish, and we pointed out that the tank we got the fish from was infected, there were white spots on many of the fish. The guy told me they don't sell infected fish, and that we already had the disease in our tank and that we had stressed them out and that's why they got sick. This is a bunch of bull, and I don't trust them one little bit. I will never shop at PETCO again for anything! read more

I have a hamster. Yes a roborovski hamster. I adore him. I love this little guy to pieces. We bought him from here for about $15 bucks. However, the condition that these hamsters are in is no way to live. They are stuck in this tiny little glass tank with maybe 5-6 other hamsters cramped up in a little hut. Their only food is pellets. Everytime I go, there's only pellets in their food bowl. C'mon now, change it up a bit. Give them some fresh fruits or veggies. The other hamsters (the bigger ones) look like they are on the verge of death or they are really bored outta their minds. Otherwise, food is so so prices about $7-$10 for a bag of goodies for my hammy. Bedding's about $10, which I guess is a little expensive. read more

Today the day before the appointment when I desperately needed the tests run that k told them needed to be done because now today my cat is peeing blood they decide to cancel my appointment that is very much needed to reschedule due to short staff. I understand being short staffed but shouldn't the appointments that are necessary not be the ones that get canceled and rescheduled? No instead they tell me to take him to ER so I can spend 100 times more money on the same tests and antibiotics that he needs for his urinary issue. This place can go to hell. Even when I made the appointment the monotone man who made it couldn't even be bothered to put on the notes this is urgent. Now I have to struggle to get my cat the care he needs desperately. I went into the store to buy a couple fish. I went with a 7yo and a 5yo. The 5yo immediately started screaming at the top of his lungs but I was determined to get the 7yo his fish. Angie was a freaking god send. She sat with me and the 5yo for 10-15 minutes (honesty feels longer when kids throw tantrums) and helped calm him a little. Funny story..... So I came here to get some treats for my little girls 3rd birthday (a siberian husky). It didn't take me long, I hit up the treat bar, filled that up to a pound of treats and then turned around to hit up the rawhide bones. I went to the cash register and was rang up. I was really annoyed at how expensive my total had turned out to be. The sign said it was about $4 for a pound of those treats and $2.45 for a pound of the rawhide bones. I wasn't sure how all that amounted to $12.00. I'll admit I was a little rude and I asked that the cashier take out two of the rawhide bones since the two that I wanted were already big enough to satisfy my pups. My attitude radiated yet the cashier kept her cool and was super nice. I sometimes fail to realize that it isn't the employees fault (as it never is when it comes to prices), it's the store. Upon returning to my car, I noticed that my iPhone was missing! I looked high and low. I panicked and naturally at 9 months pregnant, one would be extremely hormonal and may not act accordingly. I marched back in to the store and the cashier was so quick to help me try to find my phone, while still working as the only cashier opened at the time. I wished I could have gotten her name, because I truly feel that she was such a help and went above and beyond to try to help me out. I realized that I had left my phone at the treats station and that a couple of girls that had walked by may have been the ones that had taken my phone while my back was turned. I ran back to my car to take a double take, but no phone was there. I ran back in and the cashier gave me her personal cell phone to use so I could call my provider to locate my phone per GPS and to take care of it should I not be able to locate it that way. The manager came out and was absolutely no help to me whatsoever. All he said was "oh, you lost your phone? Sorry." When I asked him to view the surveillance cameras, his response was "the cameras don't hit the treat bar, it only covers the cash registers." I felt he could have been a little more sincere toward me, just like the wonderful cashier that was helping me was. Upon calling my provider, my dad was in the area and came by. It had been about an hour now, my sister was on the other line trying to locate my iPhone on her computer with the provider on the line, my dad was triple checking my car as well and was on the 4 way call with me and the provider and my sister when I hear "is your phone white with a hello kitty cover? it was in your car door!" Needless to say, I felt like a complete idiot, I have never lost my phone or have ever been that careless before, mixed in with all those pregnancy hormones, it was a bad time. I will always return to this Petco now because that one cashier really did go out of her way to be kind to me eventhough i was such a bitch about the rawhide bones being so expensive. Now I think I'll think twice before I spew my venom. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, the prices here may suck and be more expensive, they may lack in what they have in stock, their manager may not be the most personable person and they may be understaffed, but the staff that they do have care and are compassionate toward the consumers. Hands down my favorite Petco!!! I've been to 2 other Petco's but they don't compare. I'd much ranch drive further to come to this one!! It honestly feels like we come here 2-3 times a week! LOl! And all the employees are so nice. And always answer any questions I may have thoroughly. They are well informed and always recommend the best products. A couple weeks ago the manager Adrian helped us out with a puppy gate she was extremely nice and even gave us a discount since there was a rubber piece missing. And today, in my most recent experience we took our puppy to Puppy Play time and Patrick was the best!! He was extremely nice and treated all pups equally. My husky has so much energy so it was nice to see her jumping around and playing around with other pups!!! I could not stop smiling at seeing all the pups playing!!! My daughter went in to this store to return a hamster that bit my nephew and then bit my daughter twice. She was told by an associate this morning that she can bring the hamster back and switch it out for a different one since he was originally purchased at this location. She went back in the afternoon, spoke with the manager Topaz, only to be laughed at and Humiliated as she told her she was misinformed. Not only was it very unprofessional but she belittled my daughter when she laughed. My daughter shops at this location all the time, as she has bunnies and parakeets as well. My daughter called me crying, so naturally I went over there and asked to speak to a manager. The manager David came out and spoke to me. Took my dog in 12 days ago for her usual grooming and wash. About 5 days we started to notice that she was cough weird, sneezing constantly, and coughing like she was throwing up but nothing was coming out. I did research and she was showing signs of Kennel Cough. My dog doesnt interact with other dogs and is a house dog. I called Petco and they where no help at all. The store manager is saying if it was from them then other people would of called to complain about their animals (how do I know they havent called?). And the best part they said if the dog got the kennel cough from them, then I would of saw the symptoms immediately. Obviously they didnt know what they where talking about because after I did my research it says "Symptoms usually develop three to ten days after exposure". Overall, very un happy and will NEVER take my dog there.... What a shame, took her for her first haircut and that would of been her last time there. VERY VERY VERY UPSET!!!!!!!!!! We have 5 dogs. We do all their supplies and grooming here. I called mid-week to make an appointment for all 5, they could not pick up the phone, so I left them a message. I followed all their prompts, my name/number, dogs names, services needed, desired date and time. No call back Thursday, Friday or Saturday. So I called them, they kept me on for 10 minutes, they're fully booked, but checking to see how they can fit us in. Then. They hung up. I called back, same info, then suddenly I'm transferred to a 3rd person who reiterated how booked they are, but he'd gladly see our dogs on Tuesday. This person was Ramón, the store manager. I told him about no call back and what a volume we do with his store. He said the understood, and kept repeating the refrain that they were fully booked, but each time at a louder volume. He's a BULLY. At some point someone there could apologize for the missed call back and thank us for lots of business and good tips for the kind groomers. I hope Ramón learns to be kind or gets replaced. The groomers are all kind and polite. read more

Went in for a fecal exam for my husky and the doctor on duty (white male) said he couldn't issue me one because he was only authorized to give vaccines, take temperature and check heart rate... So, have I not been taking my now 1 year old husky to a certified vet or are they just veterinarian assistants with lab coats? Then he rudely proceeds to try and dismiss me by saying that the fecal tests that they have are only for puppies and don't test for the common parasites... so what do they test for and second off no where on the website does it say that fecal tests are only for puppies... Just annoyed that I had to waste time and gas only for him to tell me he couldn't do anything, yet the other female Asian doctor who normally cares for my husky when I go into vetco never hesitates to check him out even if I have a slight concern. Jeniffer is a new worker there and was supposed to take care of my dog. She kept insisting that he was way too matted, when he actually wasn't. And later refused to take my dog claiming that he was too hyper, when in reality that was normal. Although I adore this store, several items I purchased including pet food are available for up to $10 less a bag at the Ralph's market which is located right beneath the store. I buy my dog grain free food, I bought one bag at this Petco and as I was shopping for groceries I realize there was another bag available at Ralph's. Same size same brand everything six dollars less. My main concern is the training pads for dogs. We have a large dog I bought the extra large pads. The pads are priced double the amount that you can get them for at Target. That was fine for the moment, as I was not willing to go to yet another store. But for twice the price and half the quantity I would expect at least comparable absorbency. This was not the case. Put it this way I spent the whole evening with a mop. The help here is excellent and it is fun to look around. But numerous things are highly overpriced. I keep bringing my dog back to this Petco! It is easy to make an appointment and I can schedule with the same groomer, Talar, each time. My dog loves her! He is never apprehensive . I usually get the deshedding bath and Talar takes the time needed to brush him. I also like that they call or text you to let you know,when your pet is ready. This way, he doesn't have to stay there longer than necessary. Last time, I even saw another groomer affectionately petting my dogs face (distracting) while Talar rounded his nails. It is a good feeling to know your dog is cared for and it is proven by his continued excitement when he sees Talar. read more

Can't believe I even ever shopped at this stupid location where the manager Roman would question my situation with such ill intentions even though he claims he is trying to help me out. I tried using the card as it's been two months and the card is telling me I have a $0 balance on it. How can this be? I've never used the store credit card and I literally just scratched the card for the pin code. So as anyone would do if they are expecting a hefty amount on it, call corporate customer service except they guided me back to the store manager instead for further assistance. Also, there's no way to trace the card purchases because it's considered a cash card specifically for PETCO. Ughhhhhh what? I understand there are scammers in this world we live in today, especially during this pandemic. It's only fair to take all the precautions and investigate when it comes to refunds and gift cards. BUT it's not fair for honest and loyal customers like me to be generalized with them and cheated close to $100! Big question is where the fuck is my money and how is Roman the store manager?! Me and my girlfriend had a very good expriance with this store. Eve was very halpful. There was another girl woth curly hear that helped us, we couldn't catch her name, tho. Anyways, the service were great, we adopted a kitten and needed to get all the necessary things for his comfort. The girls were very helpful and took their time to help us with using our coupon book, that we got with adoption. In total we saved almost $35.00. We came here with very specific goal and mind and came away with so much more. To note, the help that we get in this Petco location is great. I cannot thank the staff enough for being so helpful to us whenever we come and visit. They will go out of their way to help you look for a specific product or item. On one particular day, I needed something very specific and a staff member named Jeggo helped us and educated us about dog care in general which is very helpful. He helped us find alternatives to items that we could not find anywhere else and taught us simple, general, methods and how we can take care of our specific need. This Petco location has great staffing, though parking can sometimes be unbearable, especially during the weekend. This is a great petco location. read more

This is probably one of the biggest Petcos I've been to, has a large cat and dog section in the back, and the middle area is dedicated to certain amenities and household areas that both cats and dogs can use. They also had a vet office that was to the right of the building. I was able to find the proper cat food I was looking for and a new toy for my cat. Was in and out pretty quickly, once I made a lap around the entire facility to just inspect it all. Overall pretty great Petco, good spot too, pretty much in the middle of Glendale. read more

This is WORST Petco ever!!! Took my dog for a rush appointment and they declined my appointment because my dog is too old and they didn't want to risk the liability. I'm at a loss for words! The head groomer Nicole more or less admitted that they are not confident in their ability to do their job well after I disclosed that my dog is old and can't jump or stand for long periods of time - which is why I got the rush appointment to ensure that he will be cared for quickly. She said she doesn't feel comfortable working on my dog because he requires extra care. Could have suggested someone else since she was unwilling, but she didn't give us the option. I offered to call my vet to have them fax whatever documents or proper authorization that was needed to proceed, but the store manager flat out said no, we decline, go somewhere else. The manager Ramon was so rude, telling me to calm down and basically followed me to the door practically kicking me out while I was carrying my dog to make sure he didn't get hurt in our haste departure. Petco may be a big corporation, but thanks to their amazing staff this location feels more like the corner-family store to me. The store is bright and spotless and items are always where they belong. Heck, even their restroom is clean. I own a dog, a parrot and fish so I find myself here quite often. I do a lot of my regular retail shopping on Amazon and Ebay, but nothing beats seeing the item in person and Petco price matches their own site so prices are pretty much always on par with the best you can find online + you get it instantly + you get great advice. Their live-fish selection keeps getting better and you'll find some rare tropical species for spectacular prices. They have no less than a hundred parrot toys and treats and even more options for your dog. I don't usually go out of my way to write reviews for big corporate companies, but the staff and management at this Petco deserve a high-five. read more

I normally love petco and what they sell normally good products. We got a pair of shoes for my golden retriever not 1hr after leaving we stuck them on and find that the product has two sections of the shoe that were ripped apart not caused by my dog as she barely had them on her. We return and they are happy to let us grab another set if they have them which they did and we did check the second pair to make sure it wasn't faulty aswell and we find a toy for our cat that is a ball and lights up when they touch it and is quiet at night awesome right? Says to pull the tab to make it work so we don't yank the tab until we get home and then guess what that doesn't work either yank the tab and the ball doesn't light up or anything!! Does this store purchase items from a different place? Something must be happening to have from one petco location two items inside the same place to fall apart. I received a phone call from Cristina the person who was scheduled to take care of my Samoyed after 3.5 hours later stating that she can't continue with the deshedding because my dog is trying to bite her. My dog has been trained by a professional dog trainer, she has never attacked anyone she loves people. I picked up my dog paid for the service cane home and tried to dry her up because she was still wet and I had to brush her. As I tried to brush my Samy she ran away and hid under the table. I also noticed that she can go up the stairs. When I examined my dog I noticed bloody skin the brush Christina used scraped off her skin.
