Let me start by saying there were 6 people in the store when I walked in. There were no shopping carts available. I asked one of the cashiers and he said,"we're busy and we don't go fetch carts, You can go out and get one if you need one." I needed dog food and figure someone would help bring it to the front and maybe out to my vehicle. I took a hand held basket because i was getting 12 cans of dog food and a 30# bag of dog food. No one in the store including a fish guy were willing to help. I threw the bag of food over my shoulder and then carried the basket of can food to the front. Once I got there then cashier who told me to get my own cart now left his cash register leaving one checker. I finally moved to the front of the line and started checking out. A small talk convo about lack of carts and customer service. As i'm paying I was asked if I needed a bag. The reply, "well since you don't have carts, I guess I'll need one.". As i'm leaving as turned back and asked if I was charged for the bag since they didn't have any carts. He said yes and immediately called the next in line. This type of service is incredibly rude. Im not sure if it's the staff of just poor training by that management team, which seemed to be absent. This place is such a waste of time. I have been taking my dogs here for the essentials (nails and teeth brushing) for less than a year. I have a less than a year old pup, who I did not actually adopt until november 2020, and whose rabies vaccine did not complete until End of December. Petco grooming actually called initially to get the vaccine dates when I first started this program, but upon coming in today they said that the vaccine dates were expired, which is untrue since its october and I know my pups vaccines weren't completed until the end of December, but their system isn't "updated". Of course at the time of going, the vet who I take my dogs to were still closed, and the vaccine paperwork was in a car that had been totaled. The manager was there and did not even offer to reschedule or try to resolve it, but simply just turned us away. Disappointing. This isn't the first time I've had a similar experience here previously when I was turned away because of overbooking on their end and My dogs were pushed out because they didn't have enough groomers for the overbooking they had done. I used to love Petco, and they "tried" to make it easier with programs like "Vital Care" and their own vet program, but it seems like a format that can't withstand a high amount of customers/pets. So i'm basically paying for a service I can't really ever obtain for my dogs. read more

My gf and I bought some items online and went to return some items but they wouldn't honor a full refund since it was paid through PayPal. Took us some time because they didn't honor returns during the initial shutdown with COVID and all, fair enough. So instead they did the next best thing by giving us a store credit, fine we'll take it. We go to use it a few months later and what do you know, there's no credit in the card. Wtfffff, simple mistake maybe? So we call customer service and get redirected to the store manager. They give us a run around for days and never followed up after promising to call us back. They really just be hoping we'll just go away. It's about a $100 so no, we want our money back, we're not going to just give this huge company our money for nothing back. But nope, the manager ROMAN wants to give us a hard time and gives us attitude (no professionalism). We all have jobs and are expected to perform with grace, how is this guy a manager? I usually take my dog Sam there for grooming, and it's always a whatever job, but this time it was just horrible. I spoke to the person who would be doing the grooming, and told them exactly how short I wanted my dogs hair to be. Anyways, I went to pick him up 6 hours later (that's how long they took.) and saw that Sams face looked very awkward. They had cut his beard very short on the left side, and let it long on the right. (Basically a diagonal line going downwards.) I told the man there my concern, and he said the lady who did Sams hair just left and that I should come back tomorrow and talk to them, they didn't really fix much, because they already did a very short, and choppy job the first time.. They offered to buzz his hair off for free, which I really didn't want. I paid fifty dollars for that, and I wish I at-least got an apology, or a redo in a few weeks when his hair actually grew out. As for the rest of the store, it's pretty normal. Clean environment, smells pretty good for a pet store, has a large selection, and they offer vaccines and other shots on weekends! Some of the employees weren't sure of a few things I asked, but I'm guessing they were new. The others were very helpful though. read more

I don't know why I bother with big box stores anymore. If I could get my products some where else I would. But this Petco is especially bad. Understocked, under staffed and the prices just keep going up. There's rarely any carts in the cart area. Decided to place a pick up order to avoid spending a lot of time in the store. The order confirmation email instructions say to go to the "pick up" area and an associate will hand you your item and help you to your car. None of that happened. If there's a pick up area it's not obvious. Imo, the whole point of pick up is to not have to wait in line. I asked a cashier for help and she made no effort to hide her annoyance for having to help me. After a 10 minute wait someone finally assisted me. I had to go get my own cart outside, which was a Nordstrom's cart because there were no Petco carts to be found. There was no assistance with the heavy litter bags into my cart, much less to my car. I miss the days when customer service involved more than just ringing up your order. So much for Petco. Will be getting my cat litter elsewhere. read more

3 out of 4 times bringing him here for a doodle cut and leaving so unsatisfied. So many times have they left him choppy, cut, still smells bad, doesn't even look like they bathed him at all. His nails are terrible. Once even misdiagnosed him with ringworm so wasted money at the vet for them to tell me he didn't have it. This is just a lazy, quick easy job. Not worth the money. I never leave reviews, but I am mortified and feel obligated on behalf of all doodle owners. I am new to the LA area and took my dog Leo to thrive vet for all of his routine vaccines and have been happy with my experience so I opted to try out their grooming services. His first groom was very good. They did exactly what I asked for and told me he was very well behaved and his coat was in perfect condition. I spend almost an hour every day with a slicker brush and a comb because my biggest fear is him being shaved down as I've seen horror stories, but surely they won't shave him down if his coat is in perfect condition, right? WRONG! When I arrived at Petco 10 minutes early the groomer was on his lunch break, but the girl at the counter told me it's not a problem and got a notebook to check me in as I have very detailed instructions. You see he wasn't in desperate need of a haircut. It had only been 4 and a half weeks since his last groom, but we are going on vacation this week and wanted him to have a fresh cut and nail trim beforehand. I was very adamant that I did not want his body to be shaved and I liked his head rounded and fluffy. She brought out a book of lengths for me to pick from and I chose the second to longest one. I wanted a very minimal trim. She took down a half page of detailed notes and told me he would call me if he had any questions at all. Well clearly he did not understand the assignment. I have been crying nonstop since I have picked Leo up. All the effort and money I have put into maintaining his beautiful coat and it was shaved. And no there were no mats...the groomer was thrilled with his patchy shave job. He even told me his hair was so smooth it came off like butter with the clippers! This comment was salt in the wound. I had to wait in the car while my fiancé payed as I was already in tears before leaving the store. To top it off Leo has been acting odd since pickup. It's like he knows and is ashamed of his new haircut. I am praying that his coat grows back in the same way and isn't permanently damaged due to this hack job. If anyone has recommendations for a new groomer in the LA or Glendale area please let me know. read more

I am usually not a Petco customer, but I had a very good experience at this Petco today. We needed to get my frenchie's nails trimmed for a reasonable price. My frenchie is HORRIBLE when getting his nails done, he puts up a big struggle, but our groomer did AWESOME. She cut his nails better than any other groomer or vet has been able to do it. We were able to walk in without an appointment and be in and out within 10/15 minutes. If you bring your dog in to be groomed remember to bring their rabies certificate. We do not usually purchase anything else from Petco because the prices are very high, and the dog food we use can not be found at Petco (would love to see more natural and local dog foods). I also noticed they work closely with adoption agencies which is nice. read more

I recently decided to change groomers because I was being overcharged for an 11 lb small cockapoo. I was honestly super skeptical about taking my doggy Luna here. The reviews weren't the best and I almost called to cancel. I'm SO GLAD we went through with it. Not only was it $20 less than what I was paying before but our groomer Rene (the gentleman with the glasses) did an AMAZING job! The pictures don't do any justice. Luna smelled great and looked even better. Thank you Rene!! Also, you can't tip when you pay with your card. It's cash only. I wish I would have known. Rene will get double tip next time! I've came here before and the service isn't always that great but usually they are at least asking if help is needed. I completely and fully understand that people were ahead of me, asking for help, but I had asked for help and was told that someone would come and help me. The same person I asked, would then go back to what they were doing ( understandable) but then help somebody else. I asked another employee and the same thing. They would tell me that someone will come and help me and no one ever came. I asked the first original employee that I first asked if they could help me AGAIN and they said that they were still helping another customer. I waited an hour and a half in the back of the store needing help choosing food for a new pet that was given to me and I am trying to start off right. I fully understand that there were people ahead of me but at the same time if there is an order I should've been next and I have been waiting for an hour and a half and now I am leaving dissatisfied and having to go somewhere else due to the fact that people did not want to help me. My wife and I recently adopted a dog from the shelter who was hella matted up, long nails, dirty ears, etc. Unfortunately for our pup, Pogi, couldn't be bathed for a while because he was neutered the day we took him home. Fast forward 14 days later, we were finally able to get him bathed and groomed. We live near this Petco and decided to bring him in ASAP so that our pup can finally get all cleaned up. Talar did a GREAT job! She was very friendly, volunteers at shelters herself, so we felt very at ease with her since this was the first time we'd ever brought a dog to a groomer. Talar made Pogi look even more handsome than when we brought him in. I've heard of horror stories from groomers, and Talar was none of it. I will be taking Pogi in to Talar regularly. We usually have a great experience with the grooming stylists but today was very disappointing and I have no intention bringing my pets there with the inexperienced staff they have now. We had an appointment for our dog who's a husky mix and quite vocal. (This has never been an issue for the groomers before.) Originally our appointment was at 12:30 however the stylist called earlier and requested we come in at 11. So we accepted since the PETCO groomers have always been so accommodating to us. We've never had issues before but the stylist who was supposed to take him was so uncomfortable with his crying whimpers that she refused to accept him. We've been going to this PETCO for our dogs for years -- and have stuck around even with the price increases -- but being turned away because the groomer was inexperienced after we also changed our schedule around at their request is the last straw. Staff is incompetent and they will just upsell you on a bunch of things your pet doesn't need while neglecting simple things the customer has requested. They advertise a free checkup but in actuality charge a $75 fee for each pet and any additional service is very pricey. GO TO A REAL VETERINARIAN OFFICE. Do not be fooled. This review is regarding the grooming center at this location. Absolutely terrible. I purchased the full bundle that included all the bath procedures plus additional ear cleaning, nail trim/balm, and teeth cleaning, plus the fall package. Initially, I was quoted around a 3-4 hour wait which is completely normal. The groomer called me just a little over an hour later to say she was finishing up. Once I arrived, I was shocked to see that my puppy had a huge cut from their razor on his scrotum area. After we arrived home I looked a little more closely at him and realized his nails were all scratched and rough (no balm was put on them, there was chunk of wax still in his ears, and more than anything he was physically cut. It is clear that they were reckless and hurried through his appointment not completing the services I paid for and injuring my dog. This has now turned into an ordeal, as he has a large cut, he keeps licking it, now resulting in him wearing a cone. He is traumatized, as am I from this experience. I followed up and called this location to speak with a manager, to my surprise his reaction to everything I've said above was, "Okay." He then brought in the employee who performed the grooming services on the phone call and the only thing they could was "You're welcome to bring him back anytime before 3 to have whatever you don't like fixed" after I had told them multiple times I would be unable to make that as I work until 5pm. Blatant disregard to the fact my animal is injured and traumatized and to the fact even if I wanted to bring him back the times they were offering was impossible for me to make. It was left at that. I am highly disappointed by this location and their actions and behavior. I do not recommended coming here whatsoever, they are careless and prideful. No remorse or compensation. read more

Used to bring my pet since he's a puppy in Petco and other groomers don't have any comments. Only when Breana or Bree took care of my pet and rejected him, she said that there's a note on my pet's record that he snapped when Jennifer took care of him (both of them are from Petco Glendale). I knew already that my pet wasn't handled professionally and gently during that time. But still came back for my pet to get a bath and everything was great with Melissa. My pet is friendly and doesn't bite, he can even walk beside me without a leash. He was provoked or had a traumatic experience with them. I saw what Breana did, he tied my pet's neck on table's rod (look so tight) and grabbed his back foot without gentleness, cut right away the nails. Not even trying very hard she brought me my pet back, told me that I could no longer bring my pet with them and advised to bring him to a groomer who will put muzzle which I think will give another traumatic experience to my pet again. Breana and Jennifer should not be groomers as they don't know how to handle dogs with trauma/bad experience. They are not PROFESSIONALS and no patience, because if they are, knowing that there's a record they should have handled it better. I guess they're maybe kind, gentle and will try hard if they knew your pet. read more

Worst service ever!! I asked 3 people to help me look at hamsters. My daughter and I waited when they said someone is coming. We waited 15 min and i asked again if someone is going to help us and then the lady said that the person who is going to help us is taking her 10 min break now. Would rate lower if I could. Petco grooming was absolutely terrible. I booked an appointment almost a week In advance and was hoping they wouldn't overbook, but they did. I purchased the package with deshedding, and full wash. My dog was returned to me after 3 hours still wet, and barely defurred. All the fur was brought to the surface with the industrial blow dryer then just left there. My car became a furnado, my dog smells awful, and now my house is covered in husky snow. Overall terrible job. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE IF YOU HAVE A LARGE DOG. They dont have any idea what they're doing. read more

Used their Vetco Total Clinic and they were super friendly and helpful. Doctor Colon and our great Vet Tech made our visit as stress-free as possible. Our dog was treated and pricing was transparent and upfront. Definitely gonna be coming back for future visits. read more

Went in this morning right when they opened to buy a parakeet. I was probably the only customer in the store cuz it had just opened at 9am. I asked for help and one of the employees told me I had to come back after 1pm because 'the person who does the paperwork for birds comes in at 1pm' and that they wouldn't be able to sell me a bird until then. I called two other Petco stores and neither of them had heard of this ridiculous policy of 'having a bird specialist for paperwork'. I drove to another store to buy the bird and it took only 15 minutes to complete the transaction. I later called the manager to complain about their lazy employee and stupid procedure, but the manager wasn't helpful either. He just said they're understaffed that's why. Let me remind you , at 9am I was the only customer there!!! Are you so understaffed that you can't help a single customer? Then why don't you cut your store hours? What's the point of being open when you can't serve a customer? This is my neighborhood Petco and I've been going there for 10 years. Won't be going there anymore. read more

Terrible, I ordered medical food for my pet online and set it on repeat deliver. Not only did they botch the deliveries, they sent the wrong food several times. I disputed one charge. But left all the others even though they were incorrect because my pet could use them eventually. They never responded to my credit card dispute which I found odd and unprofessional. The next time I try to order food they refuse saying that I had to pay that charge back before they would send the food. So they are basically like medical food mafia for your dog. Better hope nothing goes wrong or they will hold your pets food and medicine hostage. read more

LOVE this Petco! My husband and I recently got a Goldfish (you'd think we just adopted a child - we love this freaking fish!). Anyway, we had no idea what we needed to get started an Lyndee was right there to help us out! She was incredibly knowledgeable about all aquatic life and she was able to give us several great pointers as to what we needed to do for our fish to be successful! We had a brief scare where we thought that there was too much ammonia in the water and so she told us to bring in a sample of the water so that she could professionally test it! It turns out the water was too high and the pump wasn't able to properly circulate the water (to get more oxygen to circulate). We felt so taken care of and she took the goldfish just as seriously as we do. We loved our experience coming here! read more
