In my quest for great Mexican food here in the Gilbert/Chandler area, we decided to give this place a try, and also on recommendation of a neighborhood app. We tried the pezole, the pescado borracho ( house signature dish: whole deep fried red snapper, beautifully dressed in sauce and toppings) , and octopus taco ( which I rarely able to get at other places). According to our server, this establishment is the sister to the seafood next door one: High Tide, so I did expected the fish to taste good, especially at the MP of $50. The food was good, not great. Food was okay, service was horrible. One of our favorite restaurants to go to and Ryan, our server, ruined it. Asked him for silverware 3 times and still never got them. Ended up having to go to the hostess stand and ask. Drinks sat empty the whole time, and food didn't even come out correct. Ordered corn tortillas and sour cream, and got flour and no sour cream. Asked and it took at least 15 minutes, by then, food was cold and the experience was already gone. If it was busy I would have understood, but it wasn't, and it's unfortunate because this is by far one of our favorite restaurants and now I'm tempted to not go back. read more

Let me start by saying I originally moved to Arizona because I love Mexican food at the time the only Mexican I could get by my home was taco Bell. Over the years most of my local favorite places have gone out of business and particularly post pandemic the places I did like have gone down hill. This place is fun. I love the patio. The service is top notch. Everyone working there is amazing. At least during the two times I have been there. Food is fresh. I like all the seafood options because it's different. First time I did shrimp fajitas and last time I tried the octopus taco. Note the octopus has chorizo which I wish I had omitted but off you like that the octopus was excellent. For me it's too much? This place has been on my watch list for a while, and finally I got the chance to visit. Of course, my wife and I consulted the reviews and photos on Yelp while sitting in the restaurant, attempting to decide what to order. I was leaning toward three tacos, because I was unsure of the size. We both decided to go for two. She had the blackened salmon taco and the fried octopus taco. I went with the shredded beef taco and a poki taco. Two was the right choice because the tacos were large. We eat had a margarita (blended mango for her and spicy cucumber on the rocks for me). Everything was wonderful. The restaurant was beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. You won't be picking them up as they are covered in this green sauce that while not great on chips; balances beautifully with the perfectly cooked, perfectly flavored, shrimp and cheese ... cheese? This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite restaurants. I know we live in a desert but I really do enjoy their fish taco. I always chose curb tortillas, they are so fresh and hand made. Their California taco is my second favorite, grade A carne asada, NO GRISTLE!! This makes me so happy. I splurge when I come here and get the elote off the cob. I mean, who doesn't like corn? I am so disappointed in this place. First of all, we had reservations at 6:30 and we were told that we had to wait because "they were slammed". I didn't think much of it and had no problem waiting for our table. When we were seated, it took a little while for our server to actually acknowledge us. When she finally took our drink and appetizer order, we waited a good 15 mins before our drinks came out. Our appetizer finally came out be we did not have any napkins, plates or stemware until we asked for it. When we were ready to order our dinner, it took a long time for our server to come back to our table and take the order. We also asked for another round of drinks. She forgot to put in our drink order so we had to wait longer for another round of drinks. As for dinner, It took over an hour to get our dinner brought out to us. Other customers in the restaurant were also very upset with about how long they were waiting for their meals. One customer demanded to talk to the manager and had the same complaint about the slow service. He may have been compensated but because our table was not vocal about how bad the service was, no one acknowledged or apologized to us about their slow service. We found the name of this restaurant intriguing. They brought chips and salsa. Both salsas were sweet. Not to our liking. We went over the menu and found street tacos. The menu did state that they were for lunch on weekdays. It was about 3:15 when we ordered. The server went to ask and we were told only until 3pm. So we ordered a fish taco and a fried octopus taco. They were served on a plate about the size of the taco. No room for dropping the toppings. The food was ok. Not what I expected. If you are looking for Mexican food go somewhere else. Pescado Borracho has the best fish taco I have ever had... and this is by a wide margin. I have had fish tacos all over and this one easily takes the cake. The menu is good and not overly complicated. They do have kids meals and a full bar. I also had a shrimp taco and that was fantastic. My wife had a chicken taco and it was decent, so I recommend you stick with seafood when dining here. The restaurant was very modern and had plenty of seating. The service was excellent and the whole vibe was really good. The reggae music and fresh clean ambiance was a great setting for delicious food and pleasant conversation. My wife enjoyed the Ensalada Bowl with Shrimp with its many exquisite flavors and textures. The other a short rib burrito. The short rib in both, outstanding, tender, nicely shredded & abundant. Fish is pricey everywhere, maybe taco could have used a bit more. The burrito was huge, like a meatloaf! Split leftovers for lunch! Not bad for a $20 dinner. It was stuffed perfectly with tasty pico, guac, rice, & more, topped with a green sauce. The margarita during happy hour was better than many we've had, the white wine sangria satisfying & refreshing. Some sangrias have more than just a cherry, but it worked for us. Wasnt sure how the food here would be but took a chance. And we enjoyed our meals! Started with their nachos (added chicken) and it is really tasty! The chicken was marinaded really well and not to forget mentioning the portion size was rather large. We each ordered the grilled shrimp taco (which came more like a quesadilla) and the baja fish taco. We weren't as impressed with the fish taco but the other items were delicious. I ordered the carnie asada, he ordered the fish and his wife ordered what she thought was a three taco combo. My friends overpriced fish came out tough and overcooked. His wife got one taco. I got the toughest most under seasoned carne asada I have EVER had! No salt, no seasoning. I thought the knife was dull because it could not cut through it. I realized that was not the case. It was so tough I could not eat it. Who the hell puts sugar in black beans with no other seasoning. Chef had no clue on seasoning. Basics of cooking are salt, fat, acid and heat. This was our first time visit to Pescado Borracho and it was well worth it! We started with nachos, which were delicious. They were served with a healthy dose of guacamole on top and their cheese sauce and crema was different than other restaurants and tasty. They served a tomatillo salsa and a roasted chipotle sauce with their chips- both delicious. My friend and I shared the fried snapper and it was done perfectly. The batter not too heavy and the fish was light and flakey. This place is a hidden gem. Can't wait to return! read more

2 stars is generous. We have eaten here regularly for the last 4 years and loved it. Tonight, it was awful. We were one of a few patrons and it took over 45 minutes to get our food, and the food was awful. We typically aren't very critical, but my husband and I both ordered fajitas and both felt like we threw away $52. The taste was awful, quality was awful. Our son kept complaining his $10 kids meal hamburger was burnt. No one was happy. Everything has gone downhill. We won't be returning. Bummer. read more

From other reviews they say the food is good, but it was cold so I couldn't tell for sure. I ordered online. It said be there in 1 hour. I show up 55 minutes later. My food was cold. It had been sitting for at least 20-30 minutes. If you order to-go, drive there and do that. They won't text and tell you your food is done 30 minutes early. If you guys are going to do the online ordering, pay attention. It's not cheap food. We had to come home and deconstruct what we could to microwave and not completely destroy what may have been good food. It was a complete waste of money. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant in Gilbert, Arizona during a trip to see our daughter. The restaurant is located in an established strip mall with ample parking. The menu has creative mexican food choices such ceviche served in a bowl with tomatillo sauce (delicious- see photo). They have a large variety of tacos, including fish, shrimp and pork. The service is what truly makes this restaurant a standout. Nathan was our server and was excellent. While we were there, a lady stopped by our table and thanked us for dining there ( am assuming she is an owner) . We dine out a lot, and that rarely happens- but when it does, I am always impressed. Prices are very reasonable, and the entire restaurant is very clean (including the bathroom). There is also a bar with seating.
