Pier 88 Boiling Seafood is our go-to seafood boil restaurant in the Valley. We regularly dine at…read morethe one in Tolleson, but found ourselves in Mesa today and were in the mood for seafood boil. This location is a much nicer facility and in a better area than the one in Tolleson. The menu is consistent too, which made it easy for us to order our favorites. I hope you get Gigi as your server as she is very pleasant, friendly and checks on you regularly. However, the two (2) greeters at the hostess stand are a different story. It is obvious neither of them like their jobs and just come in to punch a clock. It would be nice if they at least made eye contact with the customers before they have you follow them to the table they have picked out for you. Smile? . . . that's out of the question, too. We determined by the expressions on their faces their parents probably told them since they graduated from high school they aren't going to sit around the house doing nothing all day so this must the the place they applied to.

After driving by this place many times on our way to nearby Dink & Dine, my daughter and I decided…read moreto give it a try. We are fans of the local competitor and wanted to see how this one compared. TLDR: the other one is better! We each ordered the Famous Low Country Boil - mine with lemon pepper sauce and my daughter with the 88 Special, a combo of all the sauces. She went with no spice and I went with mild. We also ordered a bowl of rice. We did enjoy what we had but it seemed heavier than what we are used to. We were not big fans of the sausage mixed in and our service was fine, but not amazing. We were also disappointed that there were not scissors offered to help get the meat out of the crab / lobster - we really had to work for it! On a positive note, we did make good use of the wet wipes that were given to us as well as our bibs and gloves. It is quite a messy meal and note that I learned the hard way: don't wear white if you're planning on ordering any kind of seafood boil! Pricing is similar to the competitor. Ambiance is chill but not as fun. I would not rush back, but I also would return with reasonable expectations.

I prefer having it fried there for free so I don't have to smell up my house. The staff is pretty good at recommendations too. Their food is fresh they have great deals on the butcher section as well. Lots of great things to enjoy and thanks to Google lens you can figure out what the item or and how to use it.

The complex it is in has expanded and there are a lot of businesses inside as well as along the strip. This supermarket is a good size and there are a lot of items to browse. They have a variety of brands and sizes, so it takes some time to decide what to buy. On this recent trip, I purchased soy sauce seasoning, rice crackers (Bin Bin ftw), mochi, and tofu. The seasoning and tofu had excellent prices, the mochi realistic, and the rice crackers more pricey than expected. They have a 10% discount on some items, which was a nice touch. It was busier than I thought on a Monday afternoon but we didn't have to wait long in line, and service was quick and efficient. I'd come back when in the area for my shopping needs!

Also... this place is huge and caters to quite a bit of international cuisine! Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Indian, European, Mediterranean ingredients (I can go on..), this place will MOST likely have it. Their inventory is huge in terms of hard-to-find ingredients and unique snacks! Some of the grocery may be a little overpriced but they're always stocked up with goods that aren't easy to find. This would have been a 5-star review if their meat/seafood options were better but can only imagine this place growing bigger (hopefully!). It would have been amazing if this place had a butcher area to get thin-cut meats/higher quality meats.. but that would have just been the cherry on top! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for unique ingredients and goods!
