This is a great place for buying things in bulk. It stocks a lot of different items that Costco doesn't. It's definitely aiming at a more business-oriented customer. This Chef's Store is HUGE! Much bigger than the one that I'm used to in another state. However, it didn't have the huge tub of margarine that I like, but it did have a few items in big sizes that we use at lower than normal prices. Is it worth driving all the way down here? Probably not, considering where we live. If we lived on this side of the valley, I might frequent this store more often. read more

This time in I bought what was labeled whole beef shoulder clod when I got home had my cutting board out sharp knives ready unwrapped this giant swift product only to find out it was layers of meat similar to skirts steak so disappointing more of a manufacturer bait and switch looked like a 20 pound shoulder vacuum sealed still good meat but not what I wanted. read more

There is a lot nice selections of fresh bulk veggies plus some are individually packaged but still in large bags or you can pick up the whole box. 9 lb of 80% hamburger in a tube. Great selection of spices, seafood, chicken breast and many more items. Huge bags of pastas which we love to eat. They also have items that are used in restaurants like cooking pots and pans and utensils. This place is worth taking a look if you are into bulk or prepping your kitchen supplies. read more

I was so excited to visit this store they have everything you need. I bought a few things including pumps for syrups. I bought one syrup and got a pump for that one. I wanted to buy another pump for a different bottle I HAVE AT HOME THAT FIT THAT PUMP. The lady at the register told me I wasn't allowed to buy it and it without the syrup and I TOLD her why do I need to buy a new one when I own a bottle already. She took it away from me like a child I wont be returning lol. Maam is was a plastic pump that cost $1.25 and I was already gonna pay for it. read more

I love this place! We randomly found it after leaving the Ross Dress For Less in the same plaza. They don't have a ton we can use now but we're planning on having a cookout and they have great deals on burgers and other things we'll need. We're both lactose intolerant and scored some non-dairy whipping cream. We also grabbed a bag of pancake mix since my husband loves breakfast so much. They also have great deals on seafood. If you have a restaurant and need to find great deals on food, you should check this place out. I will warn that the refrigerated area is VERY cold so do take advantage of the jackets they provide if you're not a germaphobe like me! read more

I saw some whole pigs. I saw low priced meat items I'll try next time. 1lb. 1oz. Canola Cooking spray for $2.54 Small boxes of frozen Wild Caught Fish of different varieties. LOTS OF STUFF more stuff than you need. Glassware, Plates, all kinds of containers, gadgets, knives, and restaurant equipment. One of the flat top grills I saw sure would be nice to have. If you went great quality supplies, this is your store. I come here for the compostable trays with recyclable lids. For the size I need, they're the most affordable ones I found in town. The place is always clean and I don't have to worry about slipping or something falling on me. The employees here are great. Unlike the Home Depot or Lowe's, someone is always available to assist you and they even ask you first before you ask them. What a treat. Lol. From meats (poultry, beef & seafood) they have pots, pans, frozen fruits & veggies. They have lots of different variety for coffee makers, glasses, trays, cups, spoons etc. they have so much to look at, it can almost be overwhelming....in a good way!!! You should definitely swing by! I work for a local daycare center and on Monday US Foods made a partial delivery. They never delivered the rest of the order. I spoke with customer service several times, they were lovely but ultimately not helpful. This includes a conversation with US Foods on Facebook where they simply stopped responding. However US Foods forgot to re-deliver the rest of the order. They subsequently refused to rush an order to get through until our next delivery. When I spoke with them to put in our delivery for the next week, I requested that they please attempt to be there early in the day after not delivering our entire order and not rushing us any supplies. I was told they could place a note and confirm nothing. They did not arrive early and we were left scrambling for yet another day. Absolute astoundingly poor judgement on US Foods part. I would never, ever recommend them again after such an incident. read more

This place is awesome. Like others have said, it's very much like a Costco--everything is packaged in bulk, but because it caters towards restaurants, most things are just in cardboard boxes, and not as visually appealing when you're browsing the aisles. However, it's WAY less busy (soooooo much parking! soooooo much freedom to take your time to browse), and it has more varieties of foods/drinks/food-related products than Costco. I went for the first time this weekend, early afternoon on a Saturday, and I probably only saw like 6-7 other customers. Everything is clean and organized. I kept seeing things and thinking "Oh, this will be perfect for the next party/potluck I have" and prices were very affordable. I was only meal prepping for the week, so I didn't buy that many things, but I am excited to meal prep in larger quantities in the future. They also have coats for their produce/dairy/milk/meat/poultry rooms, so that the cold isn't as overwhelming. I thought that was a nice touch. They also have free ice packs and free boxes for consolidating the things you purchase, which is great for food safety. read more

What a great alternative to membership warehouse/club shopping. Anyone familiar with the food service industry is aware of the quality of food US Foods delivers and this store does. If you aren't familiar, this company (in general) provides food and supplies to a lot of restaurants and food servicing businesses. I would say this could be deemed as a consumer location for the public to have the opportunity to purchase what they have to offer and you can do so with out a regular membership. The prices appear to be in line with warehouse/bulk purchasing. While they did not have everything I was hoping to purchase, it could be due to the COVID supply/demand and production issues. The store has ample room and orderly and they practice all Covid restrictions and practices. I look forward to shop here more often. If you are a small business owner, you can benefit here too without committing to food delivery, as needed as well. Came here with my wife and family to check out what was going on at this giant location. I'd popped in here once before and was ready to take the crew for a fun and exciting field trip. What a really cool and clean place to buy large portions of the foods that you would see and eat at many of your standard chain restaurants. They even have all the necessary things to keep the cooks happy in the kitchen as well as several items to keep you on the top of the health departments "A" lists. This store is not for the regular grocery shopper. The portion sizes are larger than that Price Club place and probably better for giant parties or catering events. We decided to come in and split the big portions amongst family members and co-workers to keep things real. Had to pick up a 10# box of Walleye and a 6# of breaded Oysters on this visit. There were also some Sauces on the Asian aisle that sneaked into my cart. The ladies in my group picked out some produce from the cooler and I checked out the meat section for next time. Homer ... Brisket! You do need a member's card to get into this place. It is FREE and the information that they ask for is relatively general. Just walk up to the customer service section and they will gladly point you in the right direction. Take you time and give everything a good look. The labels on much of the boxed items only have a small description on them and not a lot of those flashy marketing gimmicks on the sides. The walk in cooler is also a treat and very large. Don't not worry about getting too cold or having to bring special clothing. They have several complementary bright yellow (NASA) jackets that are available right by the self opening cooler doors. Chef'Store is more like a restaurant supply warehouse that happens to be open to the public. This means that unless you're looking to feed an army, chances are that the portion sizes will be way too big if you're shopping for just 2. They do have some great deals on high quality items, and the freezer/produce section is amazing. Since I don't have any need for a whole frozen goat, or a whole wheel of cheese, I won't be making too many purchases here, but it's nice to know that the option exists if I need to feed a lot of people. I drive 1.5hrs to the closet Chef'Store and do the Click & Carry. They consistently miss items from my Click & Carry per order. Love the store, but the Employees are not great in ensuring the order is complete or discussing with the customer any inconsistencies with the order. read more

First time at US Foods Chef Store. OMG, I need to come back when I have more time and money. I needed to get a couple of items for a soirée I was planning, so my chef-daughter recommended this place. I walked in and it reminded me a bit of Costco: wide aisles, bulk buying, specialized items. They had everything you would need from a dinner party to opening a restaurant. I needed 100 fancy skewers for caprese kebabs and some 8" skewers for teriyaki beef. I also picked up some serving ware and seasoning as well and it came out to less than $12. Kinda like Costco, but not quite as big and a WHOLE lot less crowded. No membership card needed unless you're a business owner. This is really more of a restaurant supply store than a supermarket--and the amount of product that you buy can often be huge--but if you are feeding a large family, or you have multiple families coming to split costs and portions, you have found the right place! If you are into food storage, you are gonna love this store. It's a great spot to buy hamburger or cheese in bulk. Butter and milk can be obtained in reasonable amounts. Some frozen foods are sold in larger than family amounts, but if you keep looking you can find a box of food for your freezer for a good price. Canned foods can be obtained in regular to large sizes. Have a look through the aisles and see what you find. In addition to food, they have all kinds of cooking supplies from cleaners to utensils to glassware to industrial ovens. Most of this stuff you may have no use for, but your mileage may vary. My favorite thing there are the bargains--food that is about to expire or a discontinued item is sometimes marked down a significant amount. You never know what you will find--cheese, a bag of veggies, a box of 12 tumblers. Once I got a big block of butter that someone dropped and dented in the wrapper. Snagged it for $1.66--AWESOME! Drawbacks? Sometimes the food can vary wildly in price, and sometimes this price goes higher than Fry's just down the street. I used to be able to buy 10 dozen eggs here for $13. I went for this deal, scrambled and froze them for gradual use, until the price shot up to $30. That ended that in a hurry. I won't quibble about this store though--it's definitely on my store rotation. There aren't many of these stores in the country. I'm certainly happy that there's one in Tempe! read more

However, when we asked for help on meat item no one seemed confident or show any type of assistance, instead they just made excuses on not helping or picked on one another to help us. When we did get the help the cashier just stated "the meat person went home and I don't know anything about this item" and walked away! The cashier and the person working the customer service (both girls wearing glasses) area should at least some effort on helping customers out, some information can go a long way girls. This is one of my favorite finds in Tempe. If you cook and you are starting a kitchen, this is definitely a first stop. Baking sheets for $5, 50lbs of brown or white rice for under $25 and in the summer watermelons for $3. Another reason I really like this place is that they, though the guys working here are cold and kind of grumpy, they always answer my questions (even if it takes a bit of investigation) and they always are willing to weigh a box of oranges for me (even if I don't buy it sometimes); they seem distant, but they are pretty cool people. Super slow customer service!I have been to the store twice and both times the employees that I ask about products do not seem to know anything about where anything is and what products they have. It's fair to assume that if you are shopping at a restaurant store, you're likely on a time schedule and it's not like you're on a carefree, timeless or leisurely stroll at the mall. That being said, it was darn-right rude that when I was at the check-out and the cashier wasn't sure how many units of shrimp were in a case (after I informed them, 5) the "runner" slowly walked back to the freezer to double-check...so I thought. About 5 minutes later he still hasn't returned, so I jogged back to the freezer and saw him engaged in a conversation with a customer. I just grabbed a full case of product and ran it back up to the front register myself. This all could have been avoided if the cashiers were trained and required to know their products. Tip: there's no point in asking any employees anything. read more

It used to be worth a visit, but as a long term customer we really see no point shopping here anymore. In store selection has reduced year over year. Pricing seems pretty much the same or more as anywhere else even in quantity. Last couple visits a lot of meat on display was not labeled, overall product selection was very limited, and we discovered some items were past expiration date when we got home (if you shop there - be aware of the exp dates). We also got a Ketchup there with no seal under the lid - we compared to same size/band we bought elsewhere and it was sealed as expected so that seemed odd. There's really no point to buy here vs anywhere else; other than perhaps the availability of some items is larger quantities. read more

It was an amazing store before they had the idea of Covid, Now you get Covid when you walk in the freezer area because they took away the nice warm yellow coats. I don't know but I think you're more likely to "catch cold" Not wearing a jacket. Be sure to bring jacket. Another sign of the times I noticed Is that they were not taking cash because they claimed it was a claim safety hazard. Refusing to take cash from someone, talk about social injustice! Seems like these owners are stupid; If you're scared of getting Covid from cash you should close the store in my opinion. read more
