I love this place! Even if you don't own a restaurant or business, you can always get a one day pass. Yes the quantities are huge but I have enough freezer space. Don't really understand all the negative reviews as I've never had a bad experience here. You don't have to own or run a restaurant to shop here. We've always been able to get their day passes to buy anything in the store without paying for a membership like Costco or Sam's Club. This store has everyday products of so many different things at incredible per unit pricing. Like their sign says, this is where restaurants shop. I do love browsing in this store and today battered shrimp tempura caught my attention. 100 pieces for $28.80!!! It's absolutely one of my faves so I had to get it and as soon as I got home I put a few in my air fryer and it was delish! Very lightly battered and shrimp was juicy and flavorful. What a find! Also bought 10 pounds of yellow fin tuna! ($115.70) I loved that they're individually packaged in 10 ounces so it's perfect for a meal for two. If you need to stock up for a big party or feed a large family, I think it's definitely worth stopping by and grab a day pass. tried returning faulty spoons that had holes in them but Dario at the Mesa branch was not willing to do a simple exchange because spoons we purchased them more than 90 days before. Your employee "Que" is rude as hell. No hello or acknowledgement of any kind. Just a grunt to move my cart ahead about one foot that they could have easily grabbed. Not a word said to me during transaction. No goodbye. If they hate their job so much you should send them on their way. Or maybe it's because I'm white. This morning I shopped over $500 in vegetables from this location to fulfill an Instacart order. Right after spending $525 I realized that I bought the 50lb bag of carrots not the 25 lbs my customer requested. So I went back inside with my receipt and asked if I could swap them out. The attendant said no and I asked to speak to the manager. The manager also said no and the two employees were laughing at me as I was leaving. Very unprofessional and a sad way to treat someone who just spent $525. Will not shop here again. I checked when they closed and when I called I was, it a rude voice AT 6pm Google it next next time!" and they hung up. Around 5pm I receive a message from Instacart that the delivery was delayed to 7:45pm. I knew they would be closed. What the heck???? I called Instacart and wasted about an hour with them and was offered over and over for the delivery the next day. I told them I needed it TODAY and not tomorrow. Terrible service! Prices were comparable to other places, only one item was a real save. The manager Joel harassed my wife about how she was wearing her mask and threatened to kick her out before even asking nicely how he wanted it on her face. The manager clearly is looking for fights rather than deescalation, not a person you would want in that position since it sets the mood for the entire staff. This was our trial run to see if we wanted a membership, and when trying to make a complaint about the experience was laughed off since we do not have a membership. Horrible customer service from the Natasha at the entrance. I was standing there waiting for her and she starting pounding on the plexiglass to get my attention and yelling at me. I looked at other customers and they said she is always like this. I asked to talk to the manager but they never came. This place is a dump. Dirty and feels like a third world country. No help by any of the staff, they are not happy to be there. Went to buy some last minute items, produce was not rotated and dried out, frozen shelves were like a rummage sale. They advertise these great specials but make up for it with Cheater Packs and some no so great deals. Check out line is a nightmare! There is a new place in Tempe called. Chef Store, like night and day. Clean and friendly, pricing the same as Restaurant Depot. And you don't need a membership. And you don't feel like you are going to get run over in the parking lot. read more

Always been wanting to come here and check this place out. We do a lot of cooking at my house and the Meat section was calling my name. "Mr MARK!" This location is by far nicer than the PHX store. I won't even review that one since Yelp does not offer a zero score. You definitely need to own a restaurant or have a tax ID number to get into this joint. My BBQ store in Scottsdale tipped me off and told me that joining the Kansas City BBQ Society would give the the secret handshake to get me passed the pearly gates. Nice! Both the service help and the general arrangement of their products are a little less than desirable. I knew what I wanted to get beforehand and made a mad dash to the meat cases. There seemed to be a lot of pallets all over the place and the forklift drivers appeared to be training for NASCAR. I've been in most of the local commercial food places in town and this place is very similar. Grabbed the best looking Angus Beef Back Ribs that were available and quickly ran to the checkout area. Most of the other stuff you can get at similar stores without the hassle. It is still cool to check out all the giant portions of product. I'm going to round up slightly considering that this place was probably wiped out from the Christmas / Holidays extravaganzas. They always seem to be out of a lot of their products and it takes weeks for things to get back on the shelves. I've been waiting 3 weeks for 32oz plastic cups and still none available. The quality of the products here isn't bad and reasonably priced. However, I suggest staying away from any Chef's Quality brand items! The staff here are extremely useless if you need some help. After my experience yesterday, I had to write a review... The manager Joel (I think that was his name?) saved me and my mom! My cousin got married yesterday and my mom was in charge of the breadsticks for her reception. As we were preparing the food, she realized that she had never picked them up! We pulled into the parking lot at about 6:30PM. THEY CLOSE AT 6:00PM! Luckily, the exit door had not been turned off because the workers were still inside. We ran in the exit and asked the manager to please let us buy just 2 boxes of breadsticks. We were so happy when he said it was fine. I don't know if he is just an awesome guy or if the panicked look we had persuaded him. Either way, we made it back the reception just in time with breadsticks in tow! Don't expect any customer service especially from the lady manager. I've been coming here for a year and every time I ask for help I get a the eye roll and very little help. They will just act like they don't know. Oh and be prepared to be in their way the entire time you're trying to shop. I own a small family run restaurant in San Tan Valley and we shop here at about 2 times a week for the last 10 months. Most of the time we are able to get everything we need, once in a while we have to leave without some key products because they are temporarily sold out. That can be frustrating but I can understand when so many businesses and food trucks come here to shop. The staff is always friendly and helpful if I need help. We are a small family owned restaurant and We frequent this location about twice a week. The staffs are mostly very friendly and helpful, like they will put aside their current tasks to help you to find certain items. Many times when there is a longer line at the register the manager is aware soon enough to open another line to ease the traffic. The only thing is i wish they have more staff to clear the shopping carts in the parking slot.
