Came here for the three-day sale on USDA Choice Tri-Tip roasts for $5.47 Ib. with a limit of 2, for hubs and seafood for me. I had him pick out the meat since he'll be the one eating it and after paying, I was looking at the receipt and we realized he grabbed a roast. We went to customer service and Toni called the meat department. We returned there, and Dominick assisted us and guided us to the Tri-tip. We exchanged the meat with ease thanks to Dominick and Toni's assistance. Now for the store review - able to move with ease throughout the store and find items as it is not cluttered. What can you say about Bashas'? Always clean and always easy to get around. We rolled up because we needed some shredded cheese and were able to get in and out quick. The only issue was that there was an employee on a smoke break standing right outside the front door and I'm sure to close to the door so we had to walk through their smoke. Second time at this location, where I have been standing at the deli waiting for service. When you think you're finally going to get service, they go help out a fellow employee ordering food instead. Then you go to the self checkout, without your wanted deli items, where there are several employees chatting, and the card reader is not working on your station. You'd expect some service maybe to make the self check out work, but instead, you get ignored again. I will no longer be shopping at Bashas. Thanks for absolutely nothing. read more

I wish there was anything good to say. Bashas was my store. A great store. I find deli meat all sitting out. I stopped by nobody came help. I went shopping anf grabbed item. I came back and the same deli meat is still sitting out. I didn't get any because I didn't want food poisoning. Dried out deli meat doesn't taste well either. The store itself is very clean and nice. But when it comes to checking out, that is a different story at this store. On May 5, 2024, we were checked out by a very rude man. He acted like he didn't want to be working that day and took it out on the customers. He asked if I had a phone number to save money and I said "No". He didn't even bother to offer me one to save $15. Bad customer service, oh well my usual store is Frys and Safeway anyways, so I won't have to deal with that person again. I know customer service is no longer what it used to be, but I don't go shopping to put up with people's bad behavior while they are working. read more

Tha last couple of times I've purchased buttercream filled donuts have been a disappointment. They used to be so good. I go out of my way to buy them here. Last time they frosted it while the donut was still warm or the frosting was bad because it was sliding off the donut and the dough was kind of soggy. This time they weren't filled. The only buttercream was the dollop on top. I cut the 2nd one open in the pic so you can see. I ended up throwing it away. Did they hire someone new? If so, you need to retrain them. read more

This place has some rude employees! I was doing self checkout and was trying to figure out how the coupons/discounts worked, so I asked the employee near the self checkout. She came over and I said "sorry but I'm trying to figure out where the system shows the sale price, it's a little hard to figure out". She snapped and said "it's not hard at all, anyone should be able to see it!" Wow... give me a break, I didn't know the system calculated all of the discounts together instead of showing them individually. I was still scrolling through the screen before I paid to make sure my coupons came off and she came back over and scoffed then said "you still can't figure it out or what? It's pretty simple". Seriously, why did she feel the need to harass me when I was just making sure everything was scanned correctly? I was looking by myself before I paid. How rude! read more

What is going on with Bashas'? No Sundays now for people who need medication. New hours that make it difficult to pickup medication. Obviously it's all corporate decisions that make no sense. The right hand has no friggin clue what the left hand is doing. I've shopped at this store for 35 years and now that Bashas' was bought out it is no longer the local friendly grocer. Obviously the person in upper management of the pharmacy department has no clue what people need with these hour changes. Very sad to watch a great store go down hill like this. read more

Native Arizonan and Lifelong Bashas' shopper here - since Eddie. In addition to my other groceries, I buy a certain seafood from the meat counter here, when it's on sale. As the home maker (family of 5) I do the shopping when I have a few minutes every week. The seafood I buy is a family favorite, and, per the weekly ad, there's no limit on how much I can buy. So, with a family of 5 to feed, when the butcher asks how much of the seafood I want, I reply, "everything you have in the display there" (it's usually about 3lbs). About a year ago, the butcher started responding with, "you know, you can call ahead and ask that this (apparently large?) quantity get set aside for you, you know?". My response: "Okay, that's fine, but I have limited time to shop for my family and I just need this so I can go home and cook for my family." Then he says, "it's just that folks who come later in the day may ask for this seafood and we won't have any to sell, and they might be upset". To which I say, well, that's too bad for them, but there's no limit on how much I can buy, and besides, your hypothetical upset customer may never materialize, and you're upsetting me right now." After a few months of this exact back and forth, another butcher - maybe the boss? - overheard this conversation and tells me, "I can limit how much you purchase". I say, "oh yeah? how's that? what would the arbitrary amount be? so, it's a subjective thing then, and your call?" what if I want to buy everything in this display case? is there a problem with that?" Enough was enough. I told my butcher at Sprouts, and a friend who owns several restaurants in the valley about this. They were both shocked. Their individual and collective response was, "why would they want to limit how much you can buy? it's a good thing when we sell out!". Instead, I, as a second generation lifelong Bashas' customer, I have to deal with essentially getting gaslit for being a good customer, trying to get a good deal on food to feed my family. They both told me to write an email to Bashas'. So I did. Twice. I emailed both: prdept@bashas.com and bashascustomerservice@bashas.com and explained the situation. Never got a response from either of them. My butcher at Sprouts and my local restaurateur friend both ask me if I've ever gotten a response. Nope! So, this review goes on Yelp and Google, and Bashas' loses a lifelong customer. read more

When shopping at bashas it's very unusual. The store itself is ok, There were some opened food bags in the isles but other than that the inside was ok. The customer service was not good, The elderly lady at the checkout was rude to me & my sister. At the checkout I reached for the cherry bag & The elderly lady (Cashier) swatted my hand & said "Grabbing cherries!? Ridiculous!" & I just stayed silent. Right after that, She asked if we had a bashas card or a number & I said "no" & my sister said that it's fine & we will pay full price. & she flipped out & said "It's not fine!!!" & me & my sister got pretty scared. It was me & my sisters first time there & we were confused. Overall 1 star, & the cherries were Yummy. read more

Bashas' on Warner & McClintock used to be my go to store. I have a big family, so I'd spend a few hundred dollars a week on average. I came in tonight to get soup for my sick son, I was sending him a photo of the options. I'm not even kidding you the "Karen" started YELLING from the other side of the store, and hastily walks up "YOU can't take photos in the store, only vendors can, corporate just sent a letter". I literally just saw the guy the aisle over sending pics of liquor.... But apparently I didn't "hide" it well enough. I said I'm not texting my kid 40 soup flavors, everyone takes photos. She wouldn't stop, MAAM CORPORATE SAID. I replied "corporate would not want a customer to walk out of their store and leave $100 of groceries, you just have nothing better to do I'll take my business to Frys", and I left my $100 cart there. I am sure it would be suspicious if people were snapping photos in every aisle, I could have lied and said I was scanning a bar code? How the hell would a grocery store even police this? She could spend 2 minutes and watch that after the soup, I never would have taken another pic - read the room Karen. I am SO tired of people with nothing better to do then just be a nuisance for no reason, for the most asinine reasons! Bashas' has lost a customer for life. read more

Almost all the time, one cashier. And theyre supposed to cover the 2 self check lines too. In this occasion after standing in line and another person behibd me i figure i can handle three items in the self check. It's at that moment that Robert (mgr) decides to open another register. Because of a markdown my transaction needs an override, so I am now waiting for him to finish up with customer that was standing behind me with a half full cart. He eventually comes over and begins to proceed altering what doesn't need fixed, i correct him and he gives me attitude with "I'm just trying to help." Yeah, like a teenager with no customer service skills. Next I learn the deli soup has no PLU so once again I am waiting for him to override the transaction so I can pay and leave. Two customers complete their transaction in other self check lane. I am about ready to juat walk away. I do have the good fortune of one of the more familiar employees seeing me waiting and he comes over and clears code that will not allow me to proceed. Not once did that "manager" even look back. WTH does self check mean if you can't get out of the store without requiring staff intervention for mark downs, codes, etc. If you're gonna be too tight to put more than one person on a register maybe you need to keep one person at customer service desk to cover self check at all times. Someone else mentioned sales items not stocked. I have encountered that numerous times. Don't like to come in for specific products and have to ask for a raincheck at checkout when i have nothing to purchase. read more

There's A LOT to like about Bashas and especially this location. Good parking - shaded and covered for the hot days and well lit spots under the awnings at night. Product Selection - I often find tons of made-in-AZ, usually made-in-Phoenix local products here not found at other chains (fresh authentic tortillas, local honey and fruit preserves etc) as well as lots of cool Mexico products like baked goods, candy, pantry staples and beverages. There seems to be a higher selection of stuff in general, with less popular varieties available. For example I was glad to find the decaf variant of a big jug of Arizona Green Tea. Usually at other places they only have the most popular variants like sweet tea and Arnold Palmer. I also noticed they carry some harder to find produce as well. Good sales! There's always good prices on meat and produce as well as pantry goods, especially on the weekends with extra specials. Check the flyers or google for the latest flyer online. Extra lean ground beef was cheaper here per pound than everywhere else I've gone. Clean, tidy, good layout - shopping here is nice and relaxing, it's never too crowded and the shelves and aisles are never a mess. Friendly employees/cashiers and good self serve checkout. Grocery shopping is such a hassle especially on weekends so I'm glad Bashas makes the experience a little less painstaking. Hope they keep it up!! read more

Having gone to this Basha's for much more than 10 years, their bakery department has fallen into a sad state, I use to think they had some of the best donuts in the East Valley, perhaps the head baker has retired but the quality has unfortunately diminished. read more

This Basha's was completely remodeled a few years back and they did a nice job ... It looks waaay better than it used to! It has covered parking spaces, which is great when it's 100+ degrees outside ... Plus it's is verrrry rare to find a grocery store with ample parking that is covered. It's a very modern looking local grocery store - their prepared foods are very good, specifically their baked chicken and mac and cheese meal deals. The Mac n cheese w/ chorizo is one of my favs. They pretty much have anything you need here for the most part, except I couldn't find an apple core remover lol but I've never had an issue other than that. However, their butcher section does seem smaller than most other grocery stores. I still prefer other grocery stores like Sprouts or Trader Joe's over Basha's, but if I need something in a pinch that Sprouts or Trader Joe's doesn't have I usually head here first. The store is very clean and the employees in here have always been friendly and courteous for the most part. I have had a few issues with some of the employees in the prepared foods section, but nothing major. Basha's earns a solid 3 star review in my book - it's a good grocery store, but there is nothing very memorable or exceptional about it. It's cool ;) read more

Basha's is a nice grocery store with covered parking and a friendly staff. It seems geared a bit more for the upper crust of clientele, so I was a bit surprised to see they carry very few natural personal hygiene products, such as all miners sunblock or salt crystal deodorant. While I like the store, in general, I feel the prices are a bit higher than normal and they don't offer anything special. Except for one thing... Danzeisen's Dairy stuff - our own Phoenix area local dairy! I come to Basha's just for this brand... And then end up spending about $60 every time. Danzeisen's has regular milk, in glass bottles. They also offer heavy cream and strawberry and orange cream milk. Yum! There's a bottle deposit so remember to bring back your bottles (I rarely do). So... Even though Basha's isn't my first choice, they have nice fruits and veggies, and you'll see me there for the milk. I'll be the crazy lady with strawberry milk in her cart! I just wish they carried some healthier sunscreen. I hate the chemicals (Oxybenzone, especially) in all that other stuff. They're bad for the ocean and bad for my kid. Might see ya there! read more

I've never been a regular shopper at Bashas' but I had to stop by this one because of the fabulous press it received. I picked up a free copy of Progressive Grocer magazine at the National Restaurant Association convention in Chicago, and was surprised to see this Tempe store was the cover story! (If you want to check out the article it's on-line at http://www.progressivegrocer.com/inprint/article/id5783/bashas-community-center/). Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the store was. Covered parking, slate floors, wide aisles, and an extensive craft beer selection! They have a build-your-own-craft-beer six pack option that I thought was pretty cool. I think the only other place I've seen this is in Whole Foods. The produce area was roomy and overflowing with abundant produce. I was thrilled to see beets at a very reasonable price, since I am considering attempting homemade borscht one of these days. Unfortunately, I had to pass on the beets because they appeared to be overly wet to the point that one of them had obvious mold growth. Very pretty produce displays--but they still need to monitor their inventory closely (hence, one star docked). The real draw that brought me to this Bashas' was the coffee. Originally hailing from California, I am a fiend when it comes to Peet's coffee! The best trend I noticed in California before moving to Phoenix was that whenever a Peet's coffee shop opened up near a Starbuck's, that Starbuck's would inevitably fail and be shuttered. True coffee lovers vote with their feet---and that's why I had to patronize this location. Besides the Peet's coffee bar at Sky Harbor airport (and I believe it's behind the security checkpoint otherwise I'd make the occasional pilgrimage there for my Peet's fix), this is the only other location in Arizona that you can be served a Peet's coffee drink! So kudos to Bashas' for remodeling this store and making for a quality shopping experience, but praise them for including a Peet's coffee bar! read more

This store is clean, it is well-staffed and the best thing about it is its staff--everyone is friendly and helpful. The prices may not always be as low as big national chains but that is because this is a locally-owned and smaller chain. read more

Horrific experience every time I've been there, I live right around the corner, so I go there quite frequently. Employees are unprofessional, impolite and hostile. Manager is uncommunicative, rude, and unapproachable. Employees don't know their way around the store, and when they ask the manager for help, the manager is clueless. There are a few employees, particularly some old white folks that work the front cashiers that seem to be a reasonable state of mind, and do a quality job. A small elderly lady, and an older gentleman, and young women seem to be the only bright spots. Although, the store is clean and remotely neat, and seems to be organized in a sensible way, there a few more pitfalls. Another downfall is, is that the store has a difficult, and slow self-check out system. Compounded by the fact, the staff is unhelpful, untimely, and seem to lazily stand there, when you are in the process of self-check which makes for an unpleasant, and frustrating experience. Overall high prices and poor customer service, recommend going to another store. read more

Yes, I'm reviewing Basha's but hey, I have something useful to offer, so settle down. The Basha's deli is the shiz....yes, the shizzy 4 hizzy baby. Why, you ask? Well, let me tell you. First off, they make all of their salads on premises. I like that, I like my chicken salad, yes all white meat, thanks for asking to be fresh with cilantro and onion and made right there in the wee hours before I get my shopping done. Same with the egg salad and all the other tasty items. My peeps at the register say the 411 is that the deli recipes are the same recipes as the ones used at ...wait for it.... AJ's, yea girl that;s what I'm talkin' about, I'm buyin' my AJ tastin' salad at Basha's -SNAP! Just so you know, girlfriend, most of your grocery delis are reaching into some big ol' commercial sized tub of Reese's whatever, shipped from who knows where and putting it out at the deli counter. That is NOT happin' at my Basha's! The meats and cheeses are Boar's Head which is a fine brand but what I really like is they don't slice it until you order it so my half pound of ham is fresh...yes,freshy freshy! Same with the cheeses, no slicing till I order it...Basha's deli treats a girl right. Me likey! read more

Very nice remodel. My work suite is right around the corner. It' s convenient for me to get some of my supplies here. I honestly don' t know why they' re still open, coz I barely see any one with a full cart of groceries when I come in here. Good for me when I can go in and out in a jiffy. Anyhoo, the cafe area is a great improvement from the old one tucked away on the end of the deli section. Oh, and covered parking is pretty cool! read more
