I have also dined at the highest levels in New York, SF, Seattle, Austin, Santa Fe, and etc. I have plenty of experience in new American cuisine. I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail and the owner/server Jason mocked me. I was like ok and I gave it back to him. I thought this is his poor sense of humor, no biggie, I am here for his acclaimed food. So he drops off the drink, I confirm there is no vodka in my drink, he states no I put gin. I shake my head and ask my wife to make sure it is alcohol free. It was. Listen you dolt, some folks are in recovery and never drink alcohol. Your job is to conform to your diners requests or state it is not possible. You should see this request like any other allergy. You do not get to risk our health for a $14.00 juice mixer. You are not that important. "Fine Dining" is a luxury. The rest of the service was underwhelming but the food was excellent. So in the end of the meal after a fantastic lemon tart, we settled our tab with $400.00 worth of gift certificates. Jason again playing the awkward host, passive aggressively gave us a hard time for using those certificates. Bro, those certificates are like cash that you have already received, a contract for payment. You knew that, but you acted like you were being put out. It was like dining with the arrogant, over rated record store guy in charge of your meal. I will tell you that your "mentor" Chef Binkley acted the opposite of you when he served my group his better prepared chow. PS: If you value your sobriety do not risk dining at Persepshen. PSS: from their spinning response you can see they blow off fair feedback. He did not say "mocktail" but both verbally and non verbally he made fun "mocked" my selection. Food wasn't bad at all, but nothing to shout about either. However the service was abysmal. Apparently it's a collective system where the staff collectively is supposed to attend to diners. The result is a near utter lack of attention and confusion. I had to get up and seek help three separate times, once for water for one of my company, one to remind servers a drink had been ordered, another time for plates to share portions of orders for sharing. Excellent service can help 'OK' food but service here actually detracts. When a perfectly nice duck dish arrives it's not helped by growing cold because some members of the party lack tableware and one has to go to the kitchen to seek redress. This place was great when it first opened but the food has gotten way too salty. Tonight's was the worst yet. The server gave us a story about how the salt was from a new place and came in big chunks. That is ridiculous. The chefs should taste the food as they go or use a salt mill to grind up the "big chunks" Also the service was very slow and haphazard. The noise level in this restaurant is atrocious. Once fior silverware, onces for plates, twice for our drinks and each time we had ask the hostess to find our waiter. The food was good and flavorful! The duck was perfect. My boyfriend and I had been dying to come to this restaurant since before it opened it's doors. This past weekend was the perfect time because I had my family in town and we are a family who loves to eat good food. We went Saturday night at 8:30 (they close at 10) and it was perfect timing, we had 5 people so we sat at the community table inside and it was not awkward at all. We had one end of the table and another group had the other, but even if we had been up close and personal with some strangers sitting next to us I wouldn't even mind because the experience of this restaurant is worth it. My family loves to take things slow, enjoy the experience of eating, talking, drinking and just being together. We started with some wine, beer and whiskey. I love that the spirits all come from the state of Arizona- a great selection of gin and whiskey all made in state. We started with a couple of small plates; the escargot which came in a rich kerrygold butter sauce accompanied by soft baked bread, wood fired mushrooms and the pickle plate. All 3 dishes were incredible, we even ordered the mushrooms again because they were that good. The chef and owner of the restaurant brought us almost every plate we ordered and even brought over a plate of the raw mushrooms so we could see what they looked like and spoke with us about how they are grown etc. Then we went on to order almost one of everything on the menu, no joke- I think maybe the kitchen staff thought we were crazy but, as I said, my family loves to eat good food. The pork belly steam buns were fresh and one of my favorites (If you love pork belly then try this- it is tender and delicious) There was a dish with wood-fired shrimp on top of beans accompanied by tortillas and two incredible sauces- this is a must have if they still have it on the menu when you go. The wood-fired carrots with crispy onions and barbecue sauce was another one of my favorites and it's most definitely a shareable dish. It comes in a small, iron skillet and the Barbecue sauce almost turns into a jelly in the bottom of the dish and it is a lovely combination with those crispy onions. There is a salad with bacon pieces and a sous-vide egg on top and a sweet mustard dressing, crack the egg and mix it in and you're in heaven. Our server, who was extremely well educated on the menu and processes explained that the menu has changed over a dozen times in the past 7 weeks they have been open. I honestly love this; they bring in an animal, butcher it and work with the ingredients they have readily available and what's in season. Nothing seems forced, the dishes seem like they are created organically, from the heart and truly with love. This is the type of restaurant I will gladly keep coming back to because I can imagine I will not see the same menu twice unless I come two days in a row. The chef/owner and his wife who creates the desserts and pastries seem to have really put their soul into this place, down to the benches made from old barn wood and the lights hanging from the dead Juniper tree which were woven/created by them as well. My dad, a crazy person, went on to order almost every dessert on the menu. He and I have a real sweet tooth. The ginger bread with candied fruit and eggnog gelato on top was top notch and the chocolate chip cookie is a must have if you want a something small and sweet. All in all, a beautiful experience with amazing staff who takes care of you and chef that really cares. My boyfriend, who is also a local chef, and I agreed, hands down, the best food we've had in Phoenix. The good and the bad. The good is they aren't very busy post-covid. The bad is once people rediscover this place I won't be able to get a table anymore. You should get in here ASAP while you can. I expect a wait list soon. My wife and I got in easily. The owner Jason took us through the menu and was very helpful and friendly. We got the charcuterie board and the mussels. If we weren't at a restaurant I would have just drank the sauce from the mussels it was so good. I wish I had more room in my stomach so we could have eaten more. EVERYTHING here is made in house from local/organic ingredients. That means everything down to the ketchup and mustard and everything on their charcuterie board including the sausage. These things are very important to us. The atmosphere is very relaxed, chill. The food was prepared very well and tasted great! We loved it. If you want bussers in lab coats that serve you Pillsbury Rolls in a fancy cast iron pan, go to Ocean 44, their service is impeccable but their ingredients are just awful. (I'm not kidding about the rolls, that's what they use.) When we spend our money, we want food that nourishes us. I want food that makes me feel good hours later because it is so healthy. read more

Wow. DELiCIOUS!! I got the taco plate and I think these tacos are the best thing I've eaten in awhile. The flavors on all of their dishes are complex and complementary. I like spice, but I don't like overpowering heat and feel like the tacos struck a perfect balance. The dessert was decadent and well worth the splurge. I got the chocolate pudding pie and my husband got their chocolate chip cookies. Both were home runs. I eat lots of sweets, but am really picky and often feel like the dessert didn't hit the spot. These both did. The location was very cute and welcoming. We did pick-up, but were able to see that they are taking covid precautions and being responsible. This is such a cute place with outdoor sitting area. We sat outside since the weather is amazing. The chair outside is terribly uncomfortable.. this barstool I had to adjust the height couple times and I had to ask to switch to one of the bar stool.. I saw couple of people adjusting the height. If you can't handle uncomfortable sitting while you have dinner, I recommend to sit inside..! Their thing is they make EVERYTHING from scratch utilizing local and organic ingredients. We liked the concept and got excited to try the food. We ordered escargot, wood roasted oyster mushrooms, crispy pork cheek, and 60 day dry aged burger. Escargot and mushrooms were pretty good. The pork cheek was.. ok. I dont know what kind of flavor they were going for, but it was blend yet salty and could smell a bit of pork meat too. Burger was ok too. There are vanilla jam and strawberry jam..? in it. The patty is 60 days dry aged. We felt like burger is burger, I think they could have done something else with these ingredients rather than making a burger out of it. The server was really nice and very informative. Absolutely incredible meal with friends here on Thursday. We sat at the large communal dining table and we were served personally by the owner who was amazing. We ordered a large number of menu items to share and none disappointed. To not be missed are the Eggplant, the Cheesy Chicken, and by far the best duck I have ever tasted the Duck L'Orange. Crispy succulent perfection. We also had a 2 lb Tomahawk which they dry aged for 6 months at the restaurant. Absolutely everything is from scratch and local and it is well represented in the results. They make a point to let you know they compost food scraps. They also share that they butcher their own animals. When I went, they had mentioned that they were working their way through a steer that they butchered. I appreciate the concept. Although, considering that I'm vegan, this information was a little uncomfortable for me in casual convo. There were very limited options for vegans. Oh how I wanted to love thee...but alas, much like the rest of life you over promised and under delivered. The concept is spot on. Local, farm to table, limited inventory because it is so fresh, meat cured in house. All amazing praise worthy things. I was all-in. Showed up with great anticipation. Started with wine...first 2 requested labels were "sold out"...I guess the wine is limited inventory too. Limited wine list with minimal variety. Replacement suggestions were mediocre at best. Food- Literally eaten around the globe. Can and will eat just about anything. This is the first meal I can recount that we left an entire entree. Ordered a few things, including pork chop and roasted vegetable salad. Pork chop came out and looked huge...good, I was starving. Unfortunately after cutting the 2+" fat ring off the chop, I was left with a minimal pork medallion. What was worse is that it was inconsistently cooked throughout. One end was med-well, the other end was rare+(yikes). Overall, flavor was, well, ok. I ate it (again I'll try anything). Spaetzle was chewy and did not blend with the pork, kraut and apple cider sauce. Everything seemed to be fighting each other. No harmony. Oh well. Roasted vegetable salad. This was best described as vegetables that appeared to have been roasted, stored in a refrigerator as leftovers for a week and then popped out and served as an entree. Chewy, listless, and unappetizing. We just left it, and I freaking love roasted vegetables (and disdain wasting food, but honestly it just wasn't worth it). At this point, we threw in the towel and bounced. Service was fine, but he knew we were not happy with the food and just made himself scarce (I get it man, been there too many times). Overall, I really hate leaving this review, and hope we just caught them on a bad night. Dying for this concept in PHX but this one missed the mark for us. Best thing about this was we saved dinner by finding Scooptopia around the corner for some AWESOME ice cream...and ice cream makes just about everything better. read more

What a delight! This farm-to-table concept is a unique and welcomed addition to the Phoenix restaurant landscape! The atmosphere was rustic, making it an unpretentious environment despite the fine dining element. Everything is locally sourced and so the menu changes often, depending on what's available. While this means you can't get too attached to any one menu item, you won't be disappointed by the variety of menu items as will as the sheer innovation in flavors. Love this place for all the reasons!! Jason is amazing and his dedication to local and sustainable is one dear to my heart my last experience was an epic and extraordinary New Year's dinner with my hubby. My only tiny complaint is that I usually find dessert a little too sweet including the infamous chocolate chip cookie - it's tough because the flavors make me want to keep going back for more. The ice cream however is out of this world - somehow the vanilla studded with cookie dough (when frozen it is just ) might be my favorite ice cream EVER - the vanilla tastes truly as exotic as it is! I will update with more details after my next venture, but I love how the dishes are bold in flavor and drift just a little off classics, allowing local ingredients to be highlighted in a way that is really fun and approachable, he makes these flavors sing by using the most high quality ingredients there are. Oh and did I mention he does much of (or most?) of his own butchering and aging of meats too. The ambiance is very cute too, natural and plenty of open air, lots of repurposed wood, communal dining opportunity with open wood fire, and an open kitchen with bar to sit at so you can watch chefs at work, it's always a really fun night for all your senses!! Amazing furniture pieces and European design of shared space. I have tried the duck; which was good. The burger which was excellent. The mushroom small plate is phenomenal. The chorizo stuffed dates are a MUST, I cannot get enough of them! The pound cake was truly decent and made with such good ingredients. You can't leave with getting a chocolate chip cookie- they are unlike any other. The Lambrusco is smooth and sweet and the sucker punch is a great bourbon drink to try.
