Great persian restaurant. Amazing Koobideh (ground beef) kabob and Jujeh (chicken) kabob. Awesome khoresht (persian stews) - my favorites are their Gheimeh Bademjan (Split pea with Eggplant) and Ghormeh Sabzi (Stewed beef with mixed greens - delicious!). And while their plain rice is amazing, you can mix things up with changing it for a flavored polo (rice + other stuff) or a salad. Accompanied by their mast-o-khiar (thick plain yogurt with mint) and for dessert their saffron ice cream with pistachios.... Now THAT'S a yummmmmmy meal. Fasanjoon is flavorful but sweetness is more of an acquired taste in savory foods for me, not something I am used to but the chicken was incredibly tender and well cooked. Would recommend! I got takeout from Persepolis a couple nights back. So, this review will focus solely on the flavor and quality of the food, since I didn't get to experience the ambience. I am quite surprised at how good the food tasted, given that I don't find most restaurants on the Ave to be that great. I got the Vaziri and the Kotlet. The Kotlet, although a little dense, was crispy and not overly dry. I'd probably say the seasoning was slightly on the lower side, but that may be overlooked. The Vaziri was the one that surprised me. A grilled tomato, and that perfectly cooked rice, surrounded by those succulent kebabs. It was really nice. The chicken kebab had a beautiful marinade and was perfectly cooked. The koobideh was also very nicely cooked, and not dry by any means. They give a small bit of butter, that goes very well with the rice. One caveat. I'd like the rice to have an actual essence of saffron instead of the yellow coloring. All in all, a successful meal. Came here on a Saturday night with a big group of people. What I liked about this place was the staff was pretty friendly. The waitress kept her cool and wasn't phased by our group or another big group she was also serving at the same time. She was apologetic about the wait time and kept assuring us our food was on it's way. I also liked how they provided free entertainment via a belly dancer. This kept most of us not having to think about how hungry we were and made the experience unique. There were a few opportunities that they missed however. One of them was the salad barely had any dressing on it so we didn't enjoy the salad as much as we would have. Secondly, while the portion size was nice and big, my dish could have used some sort of sauce because it was a little dry. I'm glad I tried this place though. read more

Yesterday was the second time I have been here. My boyfriend is Persian so we have a bit of an advantage but I don't think you could go wrong with the menu. I personally enjoy the eggplant appetizers, salad shirazi, and the stews. I tried doogh, a yogurt drink. I didn't like it just to sip on but it actually went nicely in the middle of the meal. The saffron ice cream was great. Overall, all of the items were made of very good ingredients and with lots of care. The atmosphere is nice. The last time we were there they played traditional Persian music. Last night though they were playing Persian pop though since there was a party going on in the back. I liked the pop music more and enjoyed that everyone was having such fun in the restaurant. I'll be back for sure. read more

This is our go-to spot whenever we get a craving for persian food. This is a family run restaurant and they put love into all their items. The meat is always always perfect ! Melt in your mouth perfection :) for about $12-18 you get a large plate of meat, rice and salad. Some of our favorite items are the vaziri and the chicken kebab plate. Their hummus is a little garlicky though - so skip that. The tabbouleh and baba ganoush are great ! They have a large dining area and because of the low staff, service can be slow. On average food takes about 25 mins to come - because it is all prepared fresh and on order. They also have good vegetarian and gluten free options and all their meat is Halal. It's currently ranking as my favorite persian restaurant in the seattle area ! read more

My family has been dining at this location for 25 years for Persian food, ever since it was under the name Caspian, and then changed ownership and name to Persepolis. Recently it changed ownership again, but the Persepolis name is staying the same. So, we were excited to try the new menu and circumstances. What a pleasant surprise!! We went in a large group, and pretty much ordered everything on the menu. It was outstanding! Persian restaurants are mainly useful for their grilled meats. The koobideh (ground beef) was delicious and tender, and seasoned well, without being too greasy. The barg (filet mignon) was superb! Tender, flavorful, and covered in saffron butter!! That's not what you get at most places, but is luxurious and authentic. The chicken breast kabob was moist (not dry), and also tasted of citrus and saffron. The stews we tried were ghormeh sabzi, and gheymeh, both of which were delicious with deep flavor profiles and authentic. The rice (yes, the rice matters in Persian cuisine!) was buttery and fluffy! Thank you for taking time to make the rice so well. Even the yoghurt drink (doogh) was clearly homemade, nicely seasoned, and a must try if you've not experienced it before. The prices are set properly, so that you get a lot for what you pay. Portion sizes are great. Is there any room for improvement? I would recommend complimentary freshly made hot taftoon bread and feta cheese. It's inexpensive to make and will set this restaurant apart from the competition. The cold lavash bread and butter are nothing special. Overall, 5 stars!! We will continue to make this our regular place for Persian food!! read more

Persepolis was completely empty when we peeked in, so we discussed whether that was a bad sign about the food and almost walked away. But the only other options close enough by were vegan, and since my friend and I are decidedly not vegan, we gave it a shot. Thank you, vegans! This place rocks. In spite of being empty when we sat down, the restaurant has a nice vibe to it and the staff were friendly and attentive. We were served a complimentary plate of flatbreads and vegetables with our drinks, which were really tasty. We ordered dolmas to share as a starter and I had the barg. The dolmas was amazing and flavorful with a nice acidic bite to the leaves. I enjoyed the barg too - I couldn't decide whether to get it regular or spicy and the waitress arranged to have it made half and half for me, which was awesome. Both were good, though I'd shy away from the spicy unless you really love spicy food. There was a substantial portion of perfectly cooked basmati rice alongside the barg. The restaurant gradually filled up as we ate, so the emptiness was more a function of the holiday weekend and the time we arrived. We had a great meal and all agreed we can't wait to come back and try more. read more

I had a hit and miss experience here. The younger 20-something girl who took orders and handled both our cards, receipts, pens we handled, and food as she bagged things never once sanitized her hands or wore gloves-I was there over 20 minutes and also saw her take a dish to a table though the main person handling the food was the older woman who was being careful, even having lavash (thin bread) on a plate then transferring it to the container on the table by tipping the plate, never touching what was on the table and being quite cautious... Now for the food. WAY too much oil. Just wayyyy wayyy too much across the board-a layer of it on top of and pooling around the sides of my appetizer, layers of it on the rice which made it hard to eat more than a few bites. The thing I might try again though I'll get more clear details than the menu says=eggplant. Roasted Eggplant ($8.00) Baked eggplant, marinated in tomato sauce topped with Greek yogurt, fried mint and whey sauce. Served with lavash bread. What I GOT=tomato sauce with eggplant blended in it, a DIP. Greek yogurt MAY have, in a very small quantity, been in it, but whey sauce? Uh, no. Mine was literally just a marinara-colored puree. The FLAVOR hit the spot for my craving, but it wasn't what I expected, some eggplant baked with tomato sauce, tossed into the container, then topped with Greek yogurt, mint, and whey sauce... oh, the mint wasn't there either. Did I not get what I asked for? They DO have this "without eggs" Mirza Ghasemi that says it's grilled eggplant w/chopped tomatoes garlic and onions...maybe that (if chopped means pureed)... anyway, it had no yogurt and I literally just took it out to the car on the street so there was no mixed-together impact. They also have "Kashk-e Bademjan: Smoked and grilled eggplant topped with fried mint and whey sauce." Mine sure tasted smoked... but again, mint and whey sauce? Tell me where, I beg of you. Just know you're getting pureed stuff. Still, it's tasty pureed stuff, just... I wanted the effect of the yogurt and mint that make Kabul's badenjan borani so ridiculously heavenly (Kabul's=vertically cut big thick slabs of eggplant almost definitely pre-seared in olive oil to keep it from being a dry gross mess then baked w/a flavorful tomato sauce and topped w/yogurt+mint). Still, since Kabul's hours are limited to dinner, it was a decent compromise. The rice had too much oil and seemed irregularly doused in turmeric, too, probably to make the bit of saffron used seem more prominent. They DO use local saffron (or a least have a jar of it on display so I assume they don't just show off locally grown Cyrus Saffron then use something else) and also have barberries which Cyrus Saffron sells, too, in some dishes which is part of the hopeful thumbs up side for me. Anyway, the rice... eh, meh is the best word. The saffron wasn't prominent in aroma (and Cyrus's stuff is good quality so I'm guessing it's a matter of either skimping or just being so oily you can't pick up the other flavors), and for being rice that was supposed to have other things in it, you'd think I just accidentally got a bit of something else in my portion from when they were making someone else's food-I didn't order it for -just- the rice; I can pay a buck and get that at Amazing Thai a few doors down or even Taste of India also on Roosevelt at the corner just south of there. I'll leave it at "underwhelming." There's one thing I found pretty unforgivable, the rice pudding. Clearly someone loves some pectin. They also love to grind things up. They also love their desserts to have more than just saffron though at least the saffron was present and clear in it... it was almost a gag-me experience. The texture was like if you took cream of wheat (you know, "gruel" texture) and added unflavored jello gelatin (pectin) to it-it was buoyant which is not how I want my food, and my stomach churned a bit from... something... in it. The sugar on top of it was clearly not a great quality level-even eating what was on the side of the bowl alone, it just had that mouth-drying feel and mostly dirt taste, not even the level of what's at PCC. Maybe they used some stuff called "Saigon" that was old or mixed with what I call "all bark no bite" cinnamon? The thing I can't get past taste-wise is that some of the all-savory kebab spices were in it, its aroma not unlike a cumin-rich curry. I wondered if it was actually supposed to be dessert. The sad thing is that it was why I even stopped in, the eggplant the reason I might try them again-might. Kabul is just SO much better for amazing rice that tastes healthy and flavorful, for some epic ice cream made for them, for lamb kebabs, ash, bolani, and of course EGGPLANT. I still ended up spending MORE money by going to Amazing Thai right afterward to get my REAL dinner because greasy rice and stomach-turning rice pudding couldn't be salvaged. Glad I "only" ordered $30 of Perseopolis stuff to sample. read more

I am Persian myself and recently bought Fesenjan from Persepolis and got terribly food poisoned by their food. I was extremely sick for four days and it was really dangerous. Either their meat had gone bad or the food was considerably contaminated in some other way. I communicated this to the restaurant manager and he mentioned that the food they delivered to me that day was part of the leftover from their catering service to some wedding ceremony two days back! It seemed like this is their usual practice (serving leftovers from their weekend catering service to other customers during the week)! This is obviously dangerous and extremely unfair to their customers. I am extremely dissatisfied with the poor quality of their food and will never risk my health again by buying food from a place that doesn't care about their customers health. read more

If you want to taste delicious, authentic Persian food, come here! We love this place! The food is great, the portions are large, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the servers are always kind and professional. I also think it's nice that they always give you a complimentary little plate of herbs, onion, and flat bread with your meal. There are some great vegetarian options on the menu too. And if you haven't already tried the ash (noodle soup) here, do! It's excellent - better than homemade. We have been here many times and will continue to do so whenever we are in the area! read more

I think I died and went to the Persian Heaven. One of the best Persian restaurants outside Iran. On 2 visits I have managed to order half the menu and one tops the other. Not appetizing at all. The tadig (crispy rice) was hard as a rock. You could chip a tooth on it. Mixed feelings about this place. Customer service was great, very accommodating. Parking can be an issue if it's a busy day. Interior is decent, plenty of tables/seating. Our food was hit and miss. I tried the Barg plate, and asked for spicy, which it was. However the meat wasn't as flavorful as I've tried at a few other Persian restaurants. Also tried their Dolmas, which were quite tasty, given that I never really liked dolmeh. Chicken kabob was definitely better than the Barg, as far as quality and taste go. Overall, I felt it was a little pricey, for the taste. Will probably return for the dolmeh and chicken kabob though. :) read more

Extremely disappointed. I've had Persian food from numerous Persian restaurants on the East and West coasts. Unfortunately, this one in Seattle thinks they are fooling everyone with "authentic" Persian food. We ordered through Postmates. The koobideh kabobs we ordered were extremely undercooked- never seen anything like this before. I had to question whether it was even cooked!! The boneless chicken skewers we ordered had the same story- undercooked. Absolutely disgusting and never returning. Flavors were very mild and was a bit lacking. We ordered the hummus, the lamb feast, and the barg (spicy). Hummus was very bland, barely tasted the cumin, garlic and tahini and needed salt. All the meats were very tender and perfectly cooked, however they too were very light in flavor. Staff seemed nice and was attentive. As far as Persian/Arabic foods go, I've had better in the area.
