Chicken pot pie that'll make you say mamma mia, brah…read more Ay, dude. Cruisin' through Andover, I roll up to The Autograph American Tavern lookin' for some comfort food, and they hit me with a chicken pot pie that was straight-up gasoline. Capisce? This thing comes out in a cast iron skillet, sizzlin' hot, with a giant puff pastry dome on top, golden and flaky like a perfect peeling wave. Sprinkle of flaky sea salt, little fresh parsley on top. Bellissimo. You crack through that crust and the creamy filling underneath is bubblin' up around the edges, rich and hearty, just beggin' you to dive in. I was fully barreled, brah. On a cold New England day, this is the kinda dish that warms you up from the inside out. Tastes like somebody's nonna made it with love, but with that upscale tavern touch. The whole vibe of the place is classy too, without bein' stuffy. So listen to me. You find yourself in Andover, you go to The Autograph and you get the chicken pot pie. Don't make me tell you twice. Fuhgeddaboudit, this one's a keeper. -- Captain 619

Neither of us had been before, and a burger sounded really good to me at that moment, so we decided to give it a try! I made a reservation about 20 minutes before we arrived. We got there early, but they seated us right away. It wasn't too busy, and we eventually moved to the bar because the seating made it easier to chat. The frozen espresso drinks immediately caught our attention. Even though it was late, we couldn't resist the sound of that. They were strong and quite tasty. We started with the fried mozzarella balls, which were nice and crispy. My friend ordered the chicken Milanese, and I went with the signature Tavern Burger. Our bartender, Luan, was very nice and attentive. Between the overall relaxed atmosphere, tasty drinks, and friendly service, it was a great spot for our casual night out. Luan told us that the menu was changing the next day and we will definitely come back to try the seasonal menu.

Some places do it right and others don't. This place nails it. Everything is made to order and those smash burgers grilled with onions are outstanding, super flavorful. You can have them cooked without the onions but that's like the Mona Lisa without her smile. Single or double, these are the best burgers around. I love the different way's that you can get the burger made up but I now go for customizing. They offer the perfect range of fixings and sauces and I always get a side or 2 or 7 of the Baba Yum sauce for dipping. TATER TOTS! As well as regular fries. Nice! Jaime's was just a short detour from our route and well worth it. From the moment we walked in, the place had the feel of a neighborhood restaurant that locals probably don't think twice about--but visitors are glad they discovered. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, and the service was excellent throughout our meal. We started with the hummus appetizer, which was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to kick things off. My partner ordered the fish tacos, while I went with the Fried Spicy Honey Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was outstanding--crispy chicken with just the right balance of sweetness and heat. It's the kind of sandwich I'd happily order again. One amusing moment came when I ordered a Manhattan. I don't think the bartender was normally behind the bar, because he had to look up the recipe before making it. It turned out just fine, and I suspect they have dedicated bartenders working the evening shift. Jaime's may be a little off the beaten path, but that's part of its charm. Good food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere made this an easy five-star stop. We'll definitely keep it in mind the next time we're headed through the area.

For dinner, the Basic Bit*h Burger ($18 plus tax) had a thick grilled beef patty with melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, & pickle chips on a thick kaiser bun. The fries were lightly fried and very hot. Both the fried raviolis and thick juicy burger were very good and fries were decent.
