a fork and a plate of food

Meh. Considering how many wonderful places there are around, I wont be back. I'm a breakfast foodie and am always looking for new places to try. I would not add this place to my list. Doughy pancakes, unseasoned eggs, un-browned sausage, okay bacon (but not great) and obviously an uncaring "cook". I asked for "well-done" home fries. They're barely cooked (they look way more done in the picture than in real life) and when I mentioned it to the waitress... "I don't know what to say, I put it on the slip". I asked her if they looked well done to her. That was her response. I know she didn't cook them, but she should care that I didn't get what I (or she) asked for. Underwhelming to say the least.

    Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Decent portions and good service. If you order blueberry or chocolate chip pancakes make sure to be clear (one time there were no chocolate chips).

Omelette, Home fries and cinnamon raisin toast

Recently opened in January in the space formerly known as the Lantern Brunch in Old Andover Village, my friend and I frequently walk by and noticed they have been very busy each time we'e been by so we had to try it! Stopped in on an early Sunday afternoon about an hour before closing. The restaurant was about half full and we were greeted and directed to sit anywhere we would like. Our waitress, a very friendly and lovely young lady, came over immediately to offer coffee. The menus are on the table so as we perused the menu, we decided on: the sunrise special and an omelette. It took about 10-15 minutes for our breakfasts to arrive and in the meantime, we had an initial cup of coffee (pretty good) and when it was topped off, it wasn't very hot so the "2nd cup" was not as good. The sunrise special included 2 eggs (scrambled), 2 slices of bacon, home fries and toast (we chose cinnamon raisin). The omelette included home fries and toast. My friend commented on the small amount of home fries served on her plate ...as in most breakfast places, you are served a mound of home fries. Our waitress came over several times to check in on us and each time offered commentary on other menu items to try in the future. She topped our coffees for a 3rd time (which was a charm) because the coffee was freshly made and hot. Both breakfast selections were good, my friend would have preferred a fluffier omelette and said "you really can't mess up breakfast" ...to which I concur. The one thing that would have added an additional star to the rating would be the acknowledgement/welcome by the owners (who were both present) especially since they weren't incredibly busy. Total tab around $19 excluding tip. We look forward to returning to try some of their lunch offerings which are very reasonably priced.

I suppose "rustic" would be a good term to describe the interior. The menu offers steaks at prices you'd have a difficult time finding elsewhere in the area, plus chicken, lamb, veal, and interesting specials. Our large group was seated over two tables, which worked well for us in terms of quality conversation among interested folks. Service was quick, friendly, and professional, and all our dinners came out at the same time. We ordered a few appetizers. They were good but a little inconsistent. The mozzarella sticks, homemade, were a little unconventional, with a panko-mozzarella crust. Better, in my opinion, were the buffalo chicken tenders. I mis-read the description of my Argentine Bowl, thinking it was more of a salad. It was steak tips, avocado, tomatoes, and black beans over rice, quite tasty. The person sitting next to me ordered a dinner special the lamb shank osso bucco. While the meat was delicious and tender, it could have had even more seasoning on it, and there was an unexpected amount of fat on the shank. Parking is a little awkward given the shape of the shopping center, and the location of the restaurant. It was nice to see signs designating spaces closest to the restaurant reserved for their customers. This restaurant was the go-to restaurant for the family hosting the dinner event. I can understand why, and I wholeheartedly agree.

The chicken florentine wasn't bad but it was not a thinly pounded or sliced piece of chicken that was pan fried....it was a whole breaded chicken breast that was deep fried. The service was good but it didnt make up for the food being just okay.

Jaime's was just a short detour from our route and well worth it. From the moment we walked in, the place had the feel of a neighborhood restaurant that locals probably don't think twice about--but visitors are glad they discovered. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, and the service was excellent throughout our meal. We started with the hummus appetizer, which was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to kick things off. My partner ordered the fish tacos, while I went with the Fried Spicy Honey Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was outstanding--crispy chicken with just the right balance of sweetness and heat. It's the kind of sandwich I'd happily order again. One amusing moment came when I ordered a Manhattan. I don't think the bartender was normally behind the bar, because he had to look up the recipe before making it. It turned out just fine, and I suspect they have dedicated bartenders working the evening shift. Jaime's may be a little off the beaten path, but that's part of its charm. Good food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere made this an easy five-star stop. We'll definitely keep it in mind the next time we're headed through the area.
