    Veggie Omelette

I meet up with my aunts once each year and we go to Eli's for a fantastic breakfast! This time didn't disappoint us either! Great food and amazing service! Until next time...

OK shoulda taken pics of the food, but it was wicked good and we ate it too quick for pics... Hot Italian omelette and has browns were the bomb!!! Also tried out our daughters blueberry pancakes and they were awesome too. Great gem across from Riverwalk Lofts in Lawrence. No wonder our daughter loves this place!

Very poorly operated, potatoes are always half way cooked and very wet. .........................................

2 eggs, home fries and homemade hash with raisin toast. A veggie omelette with home fries and English muffin

Eli's Place is small and clean. The wait was under 20 mins which was surprising on a relatively busy Sunday morning. Clearly lots of regulars based on the staff interactions, which was nice to see. Prices are more expensive than one would expect from the outside of the building but again the inside is neat and clean and well appointed. Cash only but they have an ATM near front door. Parking can be a challenge. We did find plenty across the street heading the opposite direction. Coffee was as you'd expect for a breakfast place. Not amazing but solid cup of coffee. The food was good but honestly just good. Nothing wrong but nothing amazing. The homemade hash was very good and is homemade. You actually have an option homemade or from a can. My omelette was too watery. I would prefer if the veggies were quickly cooked first before going into the omelette. Home fries were seasoned and homemade and were good. The English muffin was super big and good. My husband ordered the raisin toast which was good tasting but not homemade. French toast again was good but didn't knock you over with flavor. All in all a good clean place to go. The staff were great and so welcoming just wished there was something outstanding that would make us come back and deal with challenging parking.

Blueberry pancakes and Homemade corn beef hash

The waitress was polite and attentive. The pancakes were average but large and the Homemade hash was really good. The downside is they don't always have it. The Coffee is $3 for a bottomless cup. The prices are average. Be aware that they do not accept credit cards, though they do have an ATM inside. This is a small restaurant, I would estimate about 30 capacity. There are some booths and counter seating. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. I have been here a couple times and each visit has been a good experience.

Nice unexpected start. My wife and I both ordered Eggs Benedicts, my wife with ham, mine with their own corned beef hash. This is where things took a downward swing. First, both dishes came out without Hollandaise sauce. We pointed this out to our server who apologized and immediately took both back. When they came back out the Holladaise looked broken. We decided to accept them as opposed to sending them back again, and the taste was off, with a slight sour hint. I mentioned this to the owner/chef who checked on us and he was surprised and told us he would check the sauce. We never saw or heard from him again. The corned beef hash was shredded corned beef mixed with hash brown potatoes, with the potatoes dominating. It lacked flavor. One of my eggs was over cooked, with a hard yolk. The accompanying homefries were nice, maybe the highlight of the meal. On the plus side, our server, who told us up front she was new, was very good. We may give it another try as maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen.

But on this day, I thought to myself, "Self, I really hate making that busy-as-hell left turn on South Broadway in Salem. What if we took a journey to the Andover location instead?" And so it was. I enter this cozy little restaurant carefully tucked against a slightly submerged parking garage. Although, I probably shouldn't say "little" because the interior was noticeably larger than its Salem counterpart. It's also noisy AF in there when it gets busier than a New York subway. So naturally, I ordered my usual to-go (a Country Classic with an extra egg and hashbrowns for those who don't know). Only it wasn't *quite* ready on time. Which, to be fair, is kind of a minor point. Thing is, they have to shout your name whenever your order is finally ready. This in and of itself can prove to be quite the challenge when bellowing atop the already roaring crowd of customers impeding the otherwise accessible pickup shelves. I'll do my best to describe the interior since I wasn't really able to take pictures. But try to imagine an L-shaped dining area with the longest part hosting a row of countertop seats facing the windows. Beyond that sits a rather modest dining area with a few more tables. Next to that sits the gender neutral restrooms. It's strange and cramp, particularly when the place is packed tighter than a sardine can. Sufficed to say, I'm not much a fan of the interior design here. Being the partial recluse that I am, I offer the following best practice for a place so riotous: mobile order that shiz, cuh! Seriously. I had to put in my noise cancelling earbuds to appease my misophonia. The good news is....the food is still awesome. The eggs? Creamier than crème fraîche. Taters? Eh, I don't why...but these seemed way more seasoned the very first time I tried them. Fortunately, they actually pair rather well with their refined version of ketchup. The bacon? Well...let's just say I wish it were served well done. Not sure if I'm able to request that. But I'll scope out my options next time and get back to you all. That's it though. Nice place, WAY easier to get to than its Salem counterpart, but a bit too cramp and noisy for my taste which means....I'll likely ever dine in here. It's all good though, because I'm still giving Crack'd Kitchen & Coffee in Andover 4 Country Classics with all the fixins out of 5.

Working with gluten and tomato sensitivity, I dropped my Yelp bookmarks for the Andover/Boston area into Chat GPT and was told that Monica's Mithai would be the one we would rave about later on. Touché Chat GPT! Situated in a small side street in the picturesque and idyllic Andover downtown, this restaurant evokes a fun night out with its hot pink decor and spots to take a selfie. You're warmly greeted by Monica's family who makes you feel right at home and is willing to make you anything your heart desires, including an off-menu, gluten friendly version of Butter Chicken Poutine (and yes it was a winner)! Of note, I am accustomed to restaurants who are good with food allergens, but this one knocks it out of the park! No nuts in any of the sauces, plenty of vegan options and extreme care for any other dietary preference. Might I also add that the ghee is homemade?! Every detail is well thought out, including this one of a kind menu - it takes you out of the comfort zone of typical representations of Indian cuisine and stretches you to creative and flavorful spins on classics, like the Samosa Chaat, whose sauce was light, slightly sweet and full of flavor (but doesn't weigh you down to the point you can't fully enjoy your next dish). The paneer makhani was to die for - prior to this, my kids and I have just one restaurant that qualifies for the "long drive just for the food" trip and now this restaurant joins that very short list. The paneer was equally light and mildly cheesy, complementing the slightly sweet, very savory tomato based (I think) sauce. I think Monica's could easily turn this into a sort of dipping sauce or soup for an Jndian grilled cheese (adding mirchi/chili and tomato to the sandwich). Monica herself stopped by our table and I felt like we had met a celebrity who didn't mind taking time to talk to a complete fangirl. Great news is that both the Velvet Makhani sauce and ghee are shipped anywhere in the US so I could bring this delicious food back to my NJ peeps, to their delight and mine. The drink menu is also creative and extensive. As a beer girl, I thought nothing move me away from the deliciousness of the Local Widow Maker Blue Comet IPA - but the recommendation for the Rupee Basmati Rice Lager changed my heart and mind on rice lagers forever. I capped off the night with mango lassi (less cream, more fresh mango purée- yes!!!!) and would give this a 10/5 if I could. Keep up the great work Monica and family!
