I should have looked at the photo of the eggs Benedict before I ordered. Because I didn't, I received a plate where the sauce was dripping off it. And, soaking the home fries. It didn't look appealing. It tasted ok but the sauce abundance and appearance turn the pleasure of the meal into an effort not to make a mess everywhere. Ate here once for brunch with friends, food was not very good. Ordered eggs over easy. They were tasteless and really thin and flat... not sure how eggs over easy can not turn out good. Just had breakfast here recently. Ooof. Service was friendly and efficient. No complaints there. Coffee was fine. Orange juice ($2.00 !) was a very small glass of cold water with just a tiny bit of orange flavor. Eggs Benedict was appallingly bad. Maybe this is just not the kind of place one should order Eggs Benedict? The eggs and muffins were under-cooked. The sauce was awful and there was way way too much of it. Not enough ham. So dirty! Sat at the counter and couldn't believe how gross the stove was...looked further and saw that everything around was so filthy. Then we watched the cook pour oil all over the homefries as he cooked them. Guess what the homefries tasted like? Oil! And then we watched the cook take a package of instant oatmeal, add hot water, and then serve it. Really? Don't bother having it on the menu if it's a $.30 package of instant oatmeal. I've come here for breakfast 6-8 times and have had good food and service on all but 2 occasions. However, the 2 times that weren't good, I was extremely disappointed. 1st poor experience: My GF ordered an egg sandwich and it arrived with runny eggs, but she hates runny eggs. She told this to the waitress and was told "that's how we make them", not oh I'm sorry or can I make you another like every other place I've been to. The waitress finally went back to the cook (the owner I believe) and came back saying "there's nothing we can do" and left it at that. 2nd poor experience: I brought my family there on a Monday morning and my sister ordered an egg sandwich which the menu offered either an English muffin or bagel. The waitress didn't ask which one she wanted and neither did my sister (our bad). The sandwich came on an EM which was so wet it was inedible. When she told the waitress she did say she was sorry and asked if she would like another EM. My sister asked for a bagel instead and the waitress went right to the cook (a different man) and it took him 30 minutes to toast the bagel. In my mind he was hoping we would give up, finish and leave before he made toasted it (he wasn't that busy). I WON'T BE GOING BACK. It not worth risking the embarrassment. This is the reincarnation of the Lantern Brunch . The new owners have remodeled and updated the restaurant . It is clean and well kept . The breakfast menu is more than adequate regarding selection and price . The service is prompt and friendly . Coffee refills as needed . I wish that they had asked George for the recipe for home fries as they were the best in the area . Also I wish there would be 4 slices of bacon instead of 2 in the # 1 . All in all I highly recommend that you give this restaurant a try . Be prepared to wait on weekends but it is worth it . read more

First time there; last time there. Chicken soup may be "award winning" according to the owner, but serving it hot as opposed to luke warm would be better. And although it tasted fine, it was not exactly a culinary delight! Home fries were cold, looked old, and not appetizing and a mediocre portion as a side. Never got the honey for my tea although I asked three times for it. Had a side salad and never got my dressing until after the bill arrived. Prior to receiving the bill, we told the waitress that the soup was barely warm and the home fries were cold and therefore very little was eaten. She took the plate and we thought she would return with warmer items; however, she returned with a bill for the full amount! When we asked to speak to the owner, he was defensive, belligerent, and totally out of line. This is definitely not a restaurant to which I will return. read more

Today was the first day I've ever tried this place. I ordered 2 eggs, bacon, toast, home fries, and a pancake. My boyfriend got something similar with scrambled eggs and 2 pancakes. I got no toast, and we ended up with just 2 pancakes to split when we ordered 2 separate orders of pancakes. Food tasted mediocre, could have made it better at my house. Well that was disappointing -- 60% because of service, 30% because of food, 10% because of atmosphere/cleanliness. Maybe we just got a dud server because I see that most other folks are impressed by the service here. Greek salad was pile of ice-berg lettuce, a few tomato wedges, some shredded cheese, and 3 kalamata olives. I had asked that she hold the onions, so maybe that would have added some flair, but the salad was very uninspired. My father ordered grilled cheese on wheat, it came on white. My mother ordered a scoop of tuna salad, which server said was fine, but then delivered a full tuna roll saying the cook "probably didn't understand." When we pointed out that we were still charged for the full tuna roll, server said "he [presumably the owner?] doesn't do substitutions and besides we're closing soon." Not true -- they were closing in 1.5 hrs. As a life-long server, I 100% understand not wanting to do substitutions, but as the server, it's your job to alert your customers to that fact and let them know they'll be charged for the full deal. Plus you don't tell customers that you can't accommodate them because you're closing soon. Super rude. TVs visible at all angles, menus hadn't been wiped down since the place opened. Coffee was good. And everything was cheap. read more

After hearing so many good things about Perry's Plate we finally made it in for breakfast. We entered the very busy restaurant and were promptly greeted by Matt and Liz the owners. We had a party of five and the wait staff went right to work arranging two tables so we could sit. Our waitress came right over and took our drink order. We ordered our breakfast which included omelettes, pancakes,French toast and breakfast sandwich. The wait for food was just right and when everything arrived it was delicious. Our waitress checked in with us and was good with coffee refills and juice refills. With great food and very good service Perry's Plate is a can't miss for people in the Andover area to try. This is one of our go-to local breakfast places! Matt is friendly and hard-working. The menu is small, but the offerings are traditional and delicious breakfast foods. The portions might be small for some really big eaters, but for me, it's perfect! I hate to see the waste at other restaurants that serve ginormous portions.
