Been here probably 4 or 5 times now but enjoy pretty much everything I've gotten. This time I got the Chef special with dark sweet wheat and absolutely hit the spot. Uses fresh ingredients and very filling. Prices can seem high but worth it considering the quality of food. Service is great and environment is very welcoming. Jazz music is the go to playlist so you can't really complain. I've been able to find street parking pretty easily but can see it being inconvenient if the area is busy. After reading great reviews, i decided to stop in. The hey joe sandwich tastes exactly how it looks like it will taste. It is hearty, hefty, and filling. The service was friendly and quick. Seating was plentiful. Parking was a little tricky though. Just need to be willing to walk a few mins. My only let down was that the yelp picture and prices are very outdated. The prices now are in the ballpark of nearly double. If they only had a $5.50 pastrami or a $9.75 hey joe sandwich still. It was sticker shock after looking up on yelp and then walking in and ordering. Overall it was pretty good. You have to think of the food less as a cafe and more like a sitdown place. If I went to a restaurant and a waiter gave me a menu with a $15.99 hey joe sandwich, it would feel about right. The price, portions, & quality would match. Someone dropped off a couple of Perry's sandwiches for us and I have to say I was really impressed with the sandwiches. I looked up Perry's on Yelp and saw that they're only $5.50? Is that for real?! If so, that is an amazing deal. I tried their turkey sandwich and it was really tasty. It had a lot of turkey in it. I also tried the pastrami and it was really good as well. It consisted of Roast beef, turkey, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, red onions, avocado & cheese. As seen in pic it was a large sandwich that easily could be shared.. As per sandwich it was good im not a huge wheat bread guy so I feel a French roll or Sourdough would be great , they just were out of everything else. But all in all was still Good and filling . I can't say enough about Perry's Joint on Lincoln Ave. The staff is young and polite and inviting. They were so pleasant over the phone when taking my order and I was greeted by a staff member as soon as I walked in. I'm embarrassed to say that we've lived in Pas for 5 years and this was our first time visiting the Pasadena staple that is Perry's. Big mistake, we should have been coming here weekly. Their sandwiches are on point and the staff is just sweet as can be. These sandwiches are HUGE! They also offer a large variety of chips and other menu items as well. Moved to the area recently. We got some sandwiches here to check out a local place. I got the Hey Joe and my wife got the Hip Max. They were quite good, very stuffed full sandwiches. My only complaint would be that the bread options are almost all just sliced loaf bread, no sandwich rolls, which is my personal preference. Went back today and got the Roast Max on a croissant and this was the best sandwich I've had in a very long time. Just great flavor, the amount of mayo and mustard was perfect, it tasted like a roast beef sandwich should. Also: both times, the staff was so friendly and helpful it was a pleasure to patronize this restaurant and I'm looking forward to their upcoming new place, or should I say joint. read more

Such a sweet little sandwich shop with the best service! My friends and I stopped by on a weekday and had no wait. We ordered the Tuna by Starlight (tuna salad sandwich), Tuna Simone (tuna melt), and Chicken Mingus (chicken salad sandwich). Per our sweet server's recommendation, I got the dark sweet wheat bread-- SOO good! The Tuna Simone melted in my mouth (had a fire cheese pull) and was the perfect temperature. Bread was so soft and made every bite just as good as the last. Chicken Mingus and Tuna By Starlight are cold sandwiches but just as tasty. Portions are also large; I finished half and saved the other half for snacking later. The shop itself is small but there are plenty of seats (mostly tables for two). If you aren't able to find seating inside, there are a couple of tables outside and a few more seating areas a few blocks down. Will definitely be coming back here to try more sandwiches! read more

If you have not been to Perry's Joint then you are missing out on some really great sandwiches. The first time that I went to Perry's was their Sierra Madre shop. This past Thursday I picked up a catered lunch for our geology department at Caltech. This is the 4th time in a little over a year that we have ordered catered food. They have always had the food ready on the requested time of pick up and their staff has always been exceptional. The catered lunches have been for our faculty and Perry's has always received great praise for the sandwiches we have ordered. The sandwiches have been placed on trays and they have plenty of mustard and mayonnaise packets for people to put on their sandwiches. The favorite sandwich is the pastrami. The taste is exceptionally flavorful and not greasy. I also like their roast beef. These sandwiches ate packed with meat and you definitely get your money's worth. I drove from the very far side of South Pasadena this late morning, almost in Alhambra all the way over to the location on Lincoln to get there when they opened. Hotter than you can imagine. Money on gas, time, traffic and everything else you can imagine only to get to the front door and find it locked. A handwritten sign on the front door that one could barely read saying that they're going to open an hour and a half late, with people inside doing whatever it was that they were doing. Saw Perry's on a list of best sandwiches in the U.S., so I had to try it out myself. Parking is street out in front, and there's also a really small lot next to it that fits maybe 4 cars or so. Inside is clean, organized with lots of seating both in and outside. Has a really nice, mom-and-pop feel that is definitely welcoming. Menu has both sandwiches and hot dogs, along with smoothies and milk shakes. No fries or fountain drinks. Ordered the famous "Hey Joe" sandwich on sourdough (you can pick your type of bread). It has hot links, roast beef and pastrami, topped with cheese and peppers all sandwiched together. It's a good sandwich for sure. Very filling. Spectacular?
