We needed maintenance on our 8-year-old pool solar system. Performance Solar's communication was excellent from scheduling to service. The field technician, Hugo, was on time, efficient, and knowledgeable. He replaced leaking ABS piping with PVC, replaced worn o-rings, and assessed that the rooftop panels still had several years service remaining. Very happy with service overall, but I thought fees were a bit pricey. read more

Dennis' Performance Solar was recommended to me by the owner and friend of a large pool installation company in San Diego. They installed all new electric and pool solar and did a perfect job. Price was very fair and you get the reliability of a company that's been doing this for years. Definitely use them for solar work! read more

Our solar panels worked themselves loose in the recent storms. We called Performance Solar and they had them repaired and in working order within a day. Now thats great service!! read more

We have started the process of getting quotes for pool solar. Dennis Esposito of Performance Solar came highly recommended by our pool service provider. Dennis has been professional and responsive. We have not experienced anything as explained in other reviews to date. read more

Absolutely, the worst company I have ever worked with. Product is constantly a problem and they are unwilling to fix it properly. The product leaks and continues to leak. Horrible customer service and now do not return my emails or phone calls. If you look at other reviews you will see consistently the same problem. Time to take this problem to the next level... Strongly recommend a more reputable company.. read more

Dennis and his crew at Performance Solar installed our pool solar heating system in August 2017. We did a lot of research before we chose our supplier - Performance Solar was the most highly recommended on our neighborhood app. They were efficient, on time, and easy to work with. The office staff is very responsive and friendly, and Dennis took a personal interest in ensuring our system was running perfectly. Our pool is wonderfully warm, and the price was competitive. We're so glad we went with this company! read more

When the solar panels on my home stopped working, I discovered the company that installed them ten years ago was out of business. I reached out to half a dozen solar companies and Denise was the one who made the effort to send a service tech as soon as he was available. Most of the others, either did not do service or would not service a unit they did not install. The tech was very efficient and found and fixed the problem in short order. Thanks! read more

Dennis @ Performance Solar was great to work with! He provided a quote on a system that would get us the most possible return for the amount of space we had to work with and then provided realistic expectations on what to expect and how long it would take. I am more than satisfied...our bill has been reduced significantly and with the electric rates continuing to rise, this was the best thing we could have done. Thank you Performance Solar for not overpromising - and now the product is exceeding my expectations in the end. read more

Performance Solar put my original system on back in 2000 and did a great job. The years have taken a toll on the old system so I called them back for a new one. Dennis is great to work with and answers calls quickly. His crew was out to remove my panels this morning and they showed up on time and worked hard removing the old system to prepare me for Termite tenting. Hugo and Kyle were friendly and personable and didn't waste any time on the job. Performance Solar should be proud of these men. They are definitely an asset to the company. Looking forward to getting the new system installed. read more

great job, crew showed up on time did a great install, Dennis is easy to work with, good product.

We reached out to performance with an issue, but didn't know what it was or how to fix it. We also didn't know much about solar at all since we had just bought the house! I talked to the owner and his guys came out within hours. They had estimated he issue and ended up charging us less because it was easier to fix. Super nice guys, very knowledgeable, willing to teach us and never did they try to sell us additional work! They did explain some recommendations, but didn't sell anything and assured us they could help in the future if there were any issues. Great experience!!! Highly recommended. read more

Unprofessional company. I have been trying to get some products from this company for over two weeks now. I would be more than happy to find someone else in the area, but they are the only "Authorized Dealers" I was given verbal confirmation that my order would be filled over a week ago, and I could pick it up by the end of the week. Buy by the end of the week, no one would return my calls or emails. I even stopped by their location, and was told that no-one there could help me, I would have to call or email. HA! A lot of good that did. This is the most unprofessional company I have dealt with in over ten years of business in the area. Just because they have been around for a while does not mean they are professional. read more

My experience has been quite good. The system has worked very good. As it is now getting older, a leak developed and i wanted to try to fix it myself. The owner came over the day i called and i elected to buy the part , get advised how to replace it and it all went perfect for next to nothing. Now i can enjoy more years with the same system until i decide to replace it. Performance Solar will get the job when the time comes. Thanks to Dennis for the great customer service. read more

Performance Solar installed panels in early 2004 and they've worked very well with a parts and labor warranty of 12 years and a 20 year parts warranty. One week ago I began heating the pool and had a stream of water from the panels. I saw a 1" hairline split in one tube, called them expecting to have warranty take care of it and I was told they have a $127.50 service charge to come out and THAT was not covered by the warranty!!! What a joke for a warranty. I can buy a new panel for not much more than that and my bet is the company buys these panels in bulk for less than that. THE WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS!!!! read more

I bought a Fafco solar pool panel from them in 2009, now 3 years later its leaking. I went up to have a look where its leaking and its because they bent some of the tubes around at almost a 45 degree bend to make way for the existing chimney in stead of mounting the panel a few inches higher to avoid it.. I pretty sure these bends weakened the panel resulting in early failure. They want charge me a exorbitant service to free to come and repair it event though its their fault read more

Can't believe I've had the solar panels for our pool now for 17 years without any problems. Only needed a minor service call now which was handled promptly. Wish all companies handled service issues this way. Friendly staff and reasonable pricing. Thanks! read more

Performance Solar has serviced our solar panels in the past but after 15 years they started leaking and repairs were becoming more frequent so we decided to replace them about a half year ago. At the same time, our pool gas heater died, but we weren't ready to pay for either repair yet. Performance Solar diligently followed up with us, but didn't bug us about it and when we said we were ready, they promptly scheduled an appointment and came out. I had researched the price of a heater online and Performance Solar's quote was very reasonable and competitive. The solar panels were replaced in one day and the gas heater was replaced on a second day of installation and integration with our pool pump system. Their technician was also able to install a new check valve that was leaking. From the office scheduling person to the installation workers and their boss, all our interactions were easy and professionally handled. Our pool and jacuzzi is back in working order and working even better than when it was brand new! Having dealt with this company as a repair service company as an authorized manufacturer's representative for our Solar Panels and as a replacement installer, my experience has been very positive! read more

Performance Solar has provided excellent product & service for my solar panel needs for over 13 years. I'm on my second set of panels and I can say with confidence that these panels work really well. No issues whatsoever. Importantly, This company will back their products and are very knowledgeable about the solar panel industry. Dennis Esposito (owner) is as honest and forthright as they come and is quite fair and reasonable regarding pricing and warranty. read more

Have spoken with the owner several times. He sounds sincere but nothing is done. He first claimed to have come to assess the situation but his "ladder was not high enough to go up on the roof." He promised to return but never did. I spoke with him again and he was to come by on a Saturday. I waited all day for him, never leaving the house for a minute. He was a no-call-no-show and I've heard nothing since then (a week ago). What a disreputable company! read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. Performance Solar has Terrible customer service and are quite frankly very rude after you have paid them and need their service. There service reps showed up to my house with no ladder, no flashlight, no equipment what-so-ever to perform an inspection. After lending them the equipment, they still had the audacity to accuse me of faking a leak by using different paint colors. The owner was amazingly rude over the phone. After the inspection for a leak they had the nerve to bill me for their so-called service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY...YOU WILL REGRET IT! read more

My pool man who I've had for many years recommended this company so I did not do my research which was a huge mistake on my part. They came within days to give me an estimate and install the system. The system came with a 12 year Warrenty on the panels and 20 year warranty on the pipes. I called because I have a hole in one of the pipes the girl on the phone was very rude!! They charge $125 servce charge which they demand over the phone with your credit card before booking a so called appointments (since they don't give you a date or time, they say 'next week' ) to come out to your home, which by the way was not disclosed at the time I purchased the system that is STILL under warranty. It's been 4 weeks and no one has come out to assess the leak, I keep calling and keep being told next week we will be in your area.. HORRIBLE SERVICE..STAY AWAY!!!! I would not recommend this company GO to another solar place. read more

DO NOT Get solar panels from Performance Solar. I have had 6 leaks in 3 years and was charged from 52.00 to 127.00 each time for a service call. Zero customer service. read more

We had our panels installed 2003, Aqua therm Industry panels. Performance Solar did a great sales pitch, looked like wonderful warranty, good installation. But beware if you have any future issues, leaks, parts that need replacement. They also promise you more panels in the future at discounted prices, that is also not true. The service part of their customer service is fraudulent, management is rude & unfriendly, does not care about the warranty. Now trying to deal with Aqua Therm directly for parts. SO BUYERS BEWARE!! Check with Pool Service people before deciding on installation company. read more

Performance Solar does not schedule appoinments. They only said they will come out sometime during the week and then they never showed up and didn't call to say they were unable to make it. Once I called back and explained the urgency for repair they sent someone out that day. I wish they would have contacted me when they could not make it out within the time frame they gave me when they first called. read more

PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!! We were referred to this company by our pool contractor when we first installed our pool 10 years ago. Little did we know what a nightmare it was to be. Since almost day one, we had nothing but salt water leaking off our roof, on all different sides. Our windows were covered in salt stains and every time we called for someone to come and fix the problem, we dealt with the most unprofessional, nasty woman on the phone and to top it off, were charged to fix their own incompetence. Fast forward to 2015 when we finally had enough of the leaks and we found out from another solar company that the initial installation by this company was completely wrong and missing key drainage and other issues. I have since filed a complaint with the contractor's board against Performance Solar. Unfortunately, we gave the owner, Dennis, the opportunity to fix the problem but he declined and the complaint is still pending. Will update you as it unfolds. Buyer beware!!! read more

We've had Performance Solar to heat our pool for over 15 years. When we had our roof replaced about 4 years ago Dennis gave us a great deal to upgrade the panels, which we took advantage of. About 2 years ago the controller went bad. It had already outlasted it's expected life span. But we limped along manually operating the controller to heat the pool, which was ok since we knew a replacement would be expensive. But then we noticed a leak whenever we turned it on so we couldn't use it anymore and called PS out to fix the leak. While here they quoted a price to replace the controller and I called the office to see if they could do better and they did! Dennis honored a reduced price they had quoted a couple years back when the controller first went out. We were very pleased and very much appreciate Dennis and his team working with us. In addition to replacing the controller, they fixed the leak and replaced some corroded wire and got everything working great for a very reasonable price. The 2 gentlemen who did the work were, as always, very professional and helpful. And Dianna, who replaced Paula in the office recently, has been great to work with as well. It appears to us that Dianna has done a seamless job taking over for Paula, who was also very good to work with. Dennis leads a great team at Performance Solar and we highly recommend them! read more

It's to bad you can't rate a negative number, because 1 star is 1 to many. Fred C. is 100% right these guys should be reported to someone, the way they are running this business is criminal. They have no interest in customer service, or in keeping existing customers. Rachel who answers the phones is beyond incompetent to the point of managing to give the driver the wrong street address after 3 phone calls confirming the correct spelling. She told us the installer would be here at 9 am, at 7:45 he called for directions and showed up at 8:15. Our system is less than 10 years old and was supposed to have a 12 year manufactures warranty, which they refused to honor. They didn't even offer any sort of discount on replacement of their parts which are substandard to begin with. When asked why we would possibly want to continue to work with them and replace a system that had already failed to survive it's original warranty they had no answer at all. They quoted $2500 "for today only" to replace the panels that we're leaking on the roof. This company is a joke, they wont even show up to look at their own previously installed product without a mandatory $130 fee just for knocking on the door. Please don't give these scammers any more money they are a waist of time. I'd rather pay twice the price to ANYONE else than deal with the rude and incompetent people at Performance Solar. Thanks Rachel for all your "help"! read more

I just looked at a Leak that i have in a panel. I see after paying $175.00 for their yearly maintenance charge last year. , they put in a plug for a cracked line in the panel.. gee I ordered 10 for $12.00 on line.. Really. now their damn plug is leaking and i bet if i call them it will be another charge, and they did not do any maintenance on the panel or the system...they will chafe for this and not do anything for the cost.... this company is a big Rip Off.!!!!!!!! Oh yea give them a referral and try to collect their referral fee they promise.. it is not happening as i do not know if the person that referred us ever got his money from the scammers. read more

I researched several solar companies and products, as well as checking references. In my opinion, Performance Solar has the best product available for pool solar. I did not check other types of solar products, so I will only speak on the pool solar equipment and process. Every aspect of the process went great. They were on time, polite, and professional. I was given a thorough briefing on how the equipment operates and it is performing as advertised. They exceeded my expectations. For example, they painted the PVC piping to match the existing piping around my pumping station. I really did not care if it matched, but Fernando insisted he wanted it to look professional. The other workers were friendly and answered any questions I asked. Dennis, the owner, followed up a few days later to see if I had any questions or issues and gave me his direct number. I know of at least two other's who had Performance solar install their pool solar over 10 years ago, and they have not had a single issue. This is a solid company who provides a great product at a reasonable price, and they do quality work. I would not hesitate to refer them to family and friends. read more

Performance Solar installed our pool-warming solar panels a long time ago. Recently we had our tile roof replaced, meaning that the solar panels would have to be removed and then replaced. Performance Solar removed the panels on the exact day we requested. Instead of putting the old panels back up after the roof was done, we asked Performance Solar to put up new panels. We told them the date the roof would be finished, and that we would be out of town for the next week. Performance Solar said no problem; they did not need us to be home. When we arrived home, the new panels were in place and working perfectly. I like that kind of service! read more

We purchased our pool solar system in 2000 and have had consistently excellent service from Performance Solar. I was quite surprised to see the negative reviews from other customers on Yelp as this has not been our experience. In fact, we are about to replace our system as it has finally aged out with a newer system installed by Performance Solar. I'd be happy to discuss our experience with others considering this company. read more

Okay product--terrible customer service. The solar panels warm our pool nicely, but we have had recurring leaks (covered under warranty) that need repair at least once a year. When you call for service, this company REFUSES to set up an appointment, but they REQUIRE a credit card number BEFORE they will agree to come repair (so if you're not there to discuss with their technician, you have no idea if repair was under warrant or not). The "Service" (ha!) Manager, Paula, is arrogant and unhelpful; it seems her job is to be as difficult as possible in hopes that you'll give up and they won't have to come out and repair your panels. While in past repairs, we were able to get the panels fixed under warranty without a charge, they have decided this year that they require a $127.50 "trip charge and inspection fee". We have filed with the BBB. read more

We had solar for our pool installed by Performance Solar in May and have been very happy with the results thus far. Performance Solar was recommended to us by our "pool guy" who works on many pools and assured us Performance Solar had the best product. However, after Reading the other yelp reviews and we were going to go with another company. We met with the other company ( Performance Solar biggest competitor) and they had nothing but good things to say about Performance. It was a bit surprising. We met with Dennis (owner of Performance) again and expressed our concerns. He worked with us like we were friends and has assured us that no matter what this issue to call him directly. We chose Performance over the other company and have been happy with the install and the performance of the panels. read more

My experience with these guys was strikingly similar to the other 1 star reviews. (the 4 star review must be one of their family). I seriously don't know how these people stay in business. So our daughter had Performance Solar install a PV system at her house in Temecula, CA... high temps; gotta have A/C... And she reviewed Performance Solar here on Yelp, with 5 Stars.. think you're gonna see her review? I don't think so!!!! I'm not gonna waste too many keystrokes on Yelp, because they are obviously not the place to look for reviews... and Yelp is "extremely concerned about lawsuits..." http://observer.com/2015/03/yelp-extremely-concerned-about-what-investigative-documentary-will-reveal/e (Yelp truncates links, so search "Yelp concerned" on observer.com ) So, bye bye, Yelp! Done done done.... you are TOAST !!! Unless there's a good class action lawsuit (and I don't usually participate in them,) but you guys suck so bad, and and are so damaging to businesses, that I would join class and draw a little blood from your over-compensated executives. Time for you workers to polish up the resume and hit the streets! read more

They not only charge minimum of $127.50 for every time you call them irrespective of warantee or type of issue (even just to plug-in few leaking tubes), they would also not give you a definite date/time for the appointment and can keep you waiting for weeks. Definitely do not use Performance Solar. Once they sell you something, they are gone! There is absolutelyh no after sales support. The control panel worked ok and had no problem. After 9 months in service, the Solar heating option on the control panel suddenly disappeared... everything else remains and are working ok. I called Performance Solar to see if they could get someone to take a look at the problem. I had to wait one day for the service personel to talk to a technical guy. After a day's wait, I was told that the problem is on the control panel!? When I asked why they think only the solar heating option is having problem, they cannot answer my question. Then she wanted to charge me $125 to send someone down to diagnose the problem. The solar panels and equipment are still under warranty (we had that installed less than 1 year and it is warrantied for 12 years). I am considering reporting them to the BBB and CSLB. read more

We had our pool heating system installed 14 yrs. ago. We have had few issues...Thank goodness because we would hate to deal with them any more than we have to. The diverter valve was leaking and we requested a service call. They insisted on a credit card/debit card number in advance. (We were charges 142.50) After a few calls and 2 weeks later we finally got them out to the house to check the problem. The service man didn't have the part on the truck so he capped the valve and said he would be back the same day or the day after New Years. (He was at the house not more than 20 minutes) After a few more follow up calls we were told it would be another $127.50 to come back out and install the part. WHAT?? It's not our fault you didn't have the part on the truck! So after finding out they had charged our debit card and NOT fixed the problem I sent an e-mail revoking permission to use our card. The owners wife called me and was very rude. She kept changing her story of events. She stated they would reverse the charges (and did) and said they didn't want to do business with us. (Problem still not fixed) Well long story short...we hired a private pool service person to fix the problem. Better service and no worries! We had to cancel our card for fear they would place unauthorized charges. BEWARE...SLIPPERY people! read more

I purchased a solar system because I was told the entire system had a 20 year warranty. The sales person was very nice, he said if I had any problems all I had to do was call and someone would come out right away. I called for service because I had a leak in a pipe on March 27, I left a message, no one ever returned my call. Finally I got a hold of someone. I was told the service fee would be $127.50 they will check the entire system and if the leak was small repair it, they demanded my credit card number however would not say when they would come out. They came out on May 13 while I was at work. My neighbor was home and saw the guy come to my home at around 1:30 pm, he was at my home less than 10 minutes. I received a call saying my entire system was clogged from debris and needed to be replace, it was no longer cover under warranty however since it was an accident, it would be covered under my home owners warranty, Amy Cornejo offered to help me file a claim with my insurance company, my insurance company would cover the cost of a new system which was $8500 and the $127.50 service fee. My pool man came to service the pool on May 13 at 9:30 am, he turned off the filter at the breaker because he needed to get a part for my filter, the entire system was off, so there was NO way Performance solar could of checked my system, they wrote a report saying "all the solar collectors were clogged with diatomaceous earth which has damaged the solar collectors beyond repair". On May 14, my pool man returned to my home with the part for the filter, he reconnected everything, including the solar system, every thing worked fine, the system was not clogged or damaged beyond repair as the company had reported. My pool man came to service the pool on May 13 at 9:30 am, he turned off the filter at the breaker because he needed to get a part for my filter, the entire system was off, so there was NO way Performance solar could of checked my system, This Company is DISHONEST, they are trying to RIP people OFF.
