I had a new solar + battery system installed along with a new roof. The quote was competitive with 4 or 5 others I solicited. I ultimately decided to go with Palomar due to a the price being offered along with all of their work, including the roof, being in-house. They also outlined some of the smaller options that went into picking a solar system which other vendors did not mention. This is to say that some of the other quotes appeared cheaper at first, but I would have either ended up paying extra half-way through the project, or not gotten all of the capability I expected. The roof looks great, the roofers and solar installers were professional, checked in with me daily, and did a thorough job cleaning the job site each day. I appreciated this since we have dogs and a small child. The project was completed ahead of schedule. Our solar system has been operating for about a month, I have had zero problems. What a wonderful surprise--a business with integrity! I had a leak under my rooftop solar panels, and I assumed that it was due to the old installation of the panel footings on my aged Mexican style clay tile roof. The original estimate to remove the solar panels and repair the entire section of roof was $31,000. But when Adam Risso arrived for a preliminary site visit, he noticed the leak was more likely due to a vulnerable roof transition area and not the panels. He recommended that I contact another roofer, who was able to fix the leak for $1500! When I marveled at his integrity, Adam said that his mother always told him to do the right thing, no matter what. read more

This incredibly fast turnaround allowed me to claim both the 30% federal tax credit before it expires and the SD Community Solar Battery Savings Program rebate for $2,375. The battery has been seamlessly integrated with my existing PV system and has operated flawlessly, keeping me virtually grid-independent. I was introduced to this company out of a recommendation. I met with Adam who sold me on the idea this company specialized in flat roof installation. After a short internet dive, I decided to go with them. I entered into contract January of 2023. Upon our meet I informed Adam I was not looking to replace the garage roof due to a pending remodel. I knew there would be some added cost once they removed the roof, due to old water damage. I was not however, expecting them to double the initial quote. In addition to removing the garage against my request, they added over 19k to the initial quote for "pitching and replacing damaged wood". At this point I had no choice to agree since the entire roof had been removed, including the garage we spoke about. Fast forward. job completed in March 2023. I arrived and started to cry. This was my childhood home, and it went from unique contemporary art piece to a house of horror. I rounded the corner expecting Penny Wise or Jason Vooresse to come walking out. What captured my attention first was the flashing trim... Numerous widths all around the home, 3" - 16" and all uneven and slanted making the square house look as if it is sliding down the hill. The flashing was not the color I asked for, not the material I asked for, had jagged corners, scratches, light tan patched holes freckled everywhere, and of course the uneven width 360 degrees. I contacted Adam right away. He admitted to this being, "The worst he has ever seen", and "If I knew it would have ended like this, I wouldn't have taken the job". Not helpful, but.. Ok.. lesson learned.. How do we remedy this? Adam not once had a solution. Over the next 10 months I emailed, called, text, and met in person, trying to find a solution. I .. the nonprofessional roofer.. was required to figure out what to do. Not once did ADAM come up with any sort of a solution. I obtained roofing quotes, gave personal suggestions based on contractors and you tube fixes. Each time he said he would get back to me and NEVER did. This went on for just shy of a year. When I suggested something, he responded by claiming he needed to ask boss. I would wait months with no contact. On a good note, this required me to get quotes from professional roofers. They were kind enough to point out several other issues with the installation. 1. The counter flashing to wall stucco was done improperly. My house is all thick stucco.. Roofer George claimed any leaks were due to the old cracks in the stucco. Yet with this info they didn't bother to counter seat the flashing to behind the stucco paper to avoid future issues. Just miles and miles of thick sealant slapped over a loose piece of metal. 2. There were no metal "boots" on the vents, no counter flashing on the chimney (all mentioned in the contract). 3. A substantial soft spot (old vent not replaced) Just covered over with roofing material, like a secret lion trap for the next unsuspecting soul. Not to mention several corners already lifting. I digress. So here we are today, zero solutions on their end. I have a remodel company who says it's an easy fix, but they can't warranty the portion Palomar did and Palomar can't warranty theirs. So only fix is to start over. I met with Adam at the house and gave him two options. Lets keep in mind I asked for the roofer and his boss to join, however he just showed. 1. He comes up with a solution to fix the roof properly, I pay the remainder of the invoice, and we continue on with solar. or 2. They call it a loss and I find someone else to fix everything. Adam said, " I can't make those decisions, I'll get back to you, in a week". (which I find odd since he is listed as a business partner on this platform). Big shocker, he never did. I called him roughly 3 months later and he acted like we never spoke. I can't continue my remodel until this is solved and so far, I am spending hundreds a month on standby. I have not paid them and have informed them I won't until a solution is made. A year later they just sent me an intent to place a lien on my home. My offers or solutions are not unreasonable. Especially after 10+ months of this. I even offered to pay them the cost of the wood material they placed down and I pay another company to replace the roof. That would have been roughly 19k in their pocket. At this point they have truly abandoned any solution. It has now come down to me requesting a county code inspection, complaints on yelp, social media, and of course CSLB. Perhaps now they will give me a final answer as to how to move forward. read more

First of all I want to say I am very neglect in writing this Yelp, we had Palomar Solar install our solar system back in February 2018. But that actually gives me a good amount of time to evaluate the company and the system they installed. We interviewed 6 different companies. We asked each to provide a roof mount and a ground mount quote. Two of the companies said a ground mount was not possible, so we eliminated them. All the remaining companies each gave us vastly different quotes, all over the map as far a pricing and systems. Each had a different roof configuration if we went that way. Only Palomar gave us a straight answer on the roof and ground, they actually recommended the ground solution, which was more costly, but I knew that going into this. The system Palomar sells is an inverter per panel system. If an inverter goes out, you only lose that panel. All the other solar companies quoted a single inverter for the whole system, so if you lose an inverter the entire solar array goes down and stays down until they get service out to fix it. I've heard the stories of it taking weeks to months. So much for solar power savings. With the system Palomar installs, losing one panel until they can get out to fix it is minor over losing all or most of the panels. But this type of system costs more. So all together Palomar was more expensive than all the other companies, some very well known. But Palomar Solar is a class act. Adam our sales rep was straight up, it will cost more, but it is a top of the line system. He did not bash the other companies I was getting quotes from, I fact spoke well of a couple. They did not try to tempt us with "free" TV's, Charger tickets, or gift cards, but they did drop the final price $1,000 when I asked them to sweeten the deal. Two years running now and the system has continued to run without issue. At one time my internet went down and before I knew it, they were contacting me because their free monitoring service noticed it was offline. The system was still producing power but because my internet service in the house was offline, the Palomar service office was flagged and with a call from their team, I had our internet up and running, and they could see my system again and continue monitoring its performance. Peace of mind for sure. I didn't even mention how great the installation team was, hardly knew they were there, and all the sudden we had a solar system, all the permits were taken care of, our HOA received all the documentation they requested, I only had to sign the check. We live in a 4600 sqft house and my entire bill for 2019 was $38. WoW thanks Adam, and Adam and the entire team. I have nothing but good to say about Palomar Solar, go with them if you want the best, most reliable, top of the line system. read more

Adam is very professional and will not lie to you or offer you a laptop if you hire them. The Install team arrived at my house and were ready to work. Upon arrival, Aaron took the time to go over exactly what needed to be done and made sure that it is what I agreed to. The Program Manager, Francisco is Awesome! Aaron who is the lead made sure his guys were safe on the roof during Installation, he also made sure where they accessed the roof would not damage any of the surrounding area's or the roof itself. The Team made sure that they didn't leave things a mess when they left for the day. They even picked up scraps while working so if the homeowner needed to leave, they wouldn't trip on something. The team, Noah, Robert and Victor are very knowledgeable and very hard working. It took a total of 22hrs from start to finish and this includes a new electrical box. If you are looking for an Awesome electrician, Francisco is your Man. If you are looking for a Professional Solar Company, look no further. These guys are honest and have Integrity. After reviewing many of the reviews on here and other places and talking with folks who had solar installed recently, we decided on calling Palomar Solar and Roofing for a quote. The sales representative Bowie R. Could not have been any nicer or informative in determining the correct system for us. I was specific in what I did not want to see from the street; I did not want to see the panels and wanted as clean of installation as possible. I had a few questions along the way and Bowie returned my emails promptly even after hours. The Palomar team came out on the scheduled day and were pleasant, clean and respectful or our property. Hector, Aaron and Ramon and the rest of the group were hard and diligent workers and the work was substantially complete in one day. We had some minor electrical issues and we were called by the owner Adam R. letting us know that their Master Electrician Jose would be out to wrap up the electrical installation. We had a very crowded electrical box. Jose did an excellent job and the completed box shows his attention to detail. He labeled all the wires for future issues and the inspection went smoothly. The electric system was off line only briefly so life's interruption was kept to a minimum. The team and Bowie followed up with how to use the Enhance App and offered any further assistance needed in monitoring the system. Now three months down the road and a few rain storms, all is still good............electricity usage bills gone and no leaks in the roof. We would recommend Palomar Solar to others or to at least consider during your solar system decisions. Adam at Palomar Solar went above and beyond to assist us in a problem we had after electrical work had been completed at our property. After completing work on our property they failed to reset the breakers for our solar panels. So for a month we had no solar and didn't realize until we received our SDGE bill for over $800. We contacted our contractor who was working on the changes to our property and he called Adam from Palomar Solar to ask a favor to come out and check our breakers, etc. He came to our property and found our problem and we now have solar again. The amazing thing about Adam and his help is that he did this for us and we aren't even his customer. read more

Don't believe the commercials. The only reason this is a 1-star review is that 0 is not an option. Palomar did not install my system but they did agree to service it after the installer went out of business. They charged a nominal administrative fee to cover the cost of changing who is responsible for monitoring my system. They further explained there is a $150 service charge when they come out. Neither of these terms was an issue for me. We've needed them for service 3 times now. Each time it takes them forever to get here. The reason they give is that their service tech is also the person responsible for meeting with inspectors on new installations. They claim they don't know if an inspector is coming until the day of the inspection so they can't schedule service in advance. In all 3 cases, I've waited a month or more and then had to call a second and sometimes a 3rd time. The last time they came to replace a micro-inverter. It was on August 19. It hasn't worked since and it's now October. I've called twice. They just say "I have to check with a tech." Although they knew the inverter needed to be replaced, apparently they don't care enough that the replacement hasn't worked. They blame the bad service on the fact that I live in Ramona. If that's the case they shouldn't have taken me as a customer. Maybe if I had bought my system from them the service would be better. read more

After waiting for over five month for Palomar to respond to numerous calls and emails to the owner and his staff I posted the one star review, it was not something I wanted to do. But it was pretty obvious that no one was going to answer any of our communications. After posting my review I received a call from the owner to discuss my review, at the time I had thought that I was just speaking to him, but shortly into the conversation it was obvious he had a whole team in the room. The owen and his partner proceed to berate me even as Courtney apologized and admitted my review was accurate to her boss. Nothing I posted is incorrect or misleading, unlike their response. Unfortunately, yelp places limits on the length of the reviews posted, so I had to remove any in depth explanation of issues we've had with this Poorly Managed Company. I'm happy with Palomar Solar. They installed my panels in late 2018 and I've had some post-installation interactions over a few subsequent years that have inspired confidence. Eric Zetmier was the initial contact and great to work with. He answered all my questions about the Enphase system, sized it appropriately for my current needs and anticipated eventual EV, and was responsive to ideas I had as well. I had an older, physically smaller electrical panel that did not allow installation of Enphase's consumption monitoring. Too bad, but I understood. Installation went well and they cleaned everything up nicely. In 2021, I had an electrical panel main breaker failure (unrelated to my solar), melting some stuff inside my panel. Only one leg of my panel was working - and anything 240v including solar was not functioning with the failed half of my circuits out. So at sales time, when they said they would monitor your solar panel system? They do. I got an email from them around a month after the electrical panel failure. Of course, due to the catastrophic nature of the panel failure, I was already aware by the time I received the notification, but it's nice to know they are actually doing what they promised back at install time. Long story short, I ended up installing a new panel in 2021, along with a new SDGE service line in an unpleasantly long and deep trench due to new city codes, via a different contractor. (While I did contact Eric, Palomar at the time was not taking on service line upgrades involving trenching. But Eric did provide some information on alternatives to investigate, so that was helpful as well.) Early in 2022, I contacted Palomar to see if I now had the room to add the Enphase consumption monitoring gadgetry into my new electrical panel. Courtney responded quickly and asked for information and photos by email, checked in with with Palomar's electrician to see if it was feasible, and got a work order scheduled for installation. Again, a smooth process and timely responsive communication from them. My experience at each interaction (sales, installation, system monitoring, and follow-up) over about a four year period demonstrates they are a solid go-to contractor that "walks the talk". read more

Seven years ago, we were paying almost $1000 a month for our electricity from SDGE. Adam Rizzo, the owner at Palomar Solar, came out and installed solar panels on our property. We have never had a problem with the system, and year after year, since installation, we have received money back from SDGE. This last year it came to over $750! I have to say that I was very impressed with his extensive knowledge and understanding of both the industry and issues surrounding specific installations. My initial phone conversation with Palomar Solar was very promising. I already had solar installed and wanted a new roof done by a company that could handle the solar panels appropriately. The installation requirements were discussed, the estimator came to inspect the roof and I understood they would email Palomar's quote. Two weeks later I received nothing so I called to ask about it and was assured they would call by 5 pm that afternoon. After multiple subsequent calls and multiple assurances that they would call back, I am yet to receive a quote. Its time to move on. A simple return of a phone call to say NO or offer a quote would make all the difference, but their lack of response speaks volumes to their lack of professionalism. read more

I spent almost three years deciding to go solar. I always had Palomar in my mind during that time. I liked their approach and quality equipment. They also hide nothing from its customers by providing per panel monitoring that the customer has full access to. The customer can see what's going on in real time and collect their own data to figure out the best times to operate heavy use appliances. My account manager Sid was spot on with his detailed proposal of how my new system would operate. Yesterday I took a look back at his Solar generation chart for this month (January) and it is very accurate. Thank you Sid! Due to the age of my roof I made the decision to have Palomar replace the paper under my ceramic tiles on the solar half of my roof. They used a double layer of lining for replacement. The roofing team was top notch. Very knowledgeable, friendly and always on time. Thank you George! The Solar installation was done in only a day. It looks magnificent! They actually run the conduit inside the attic to connect to the array from underneath rather then running it on top of the roof. Thank you Arron! My initial meeting with Palomar Solar was very promising. To complete the proposal salesperson Eric said he needed to discuss the installation requirements with his roofer at which time he would email Palomar's quote. Two weeks later I received nothing so I called him up to ask about it and he said he'd call by 5 pm that afternoon. Two days - no call or anything from him. So all-in-all, I'd say 1 star is being generous. I have no further explanation but will take my business elsewhere of course towards a company that wants to work. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: With all the hype in the solar marketplace it was nice to do business with a firm that was very straightforward from the first meeting to the final signoff.
