Amazing company. I contacted Sungenia about a power issue. They sent a service technician the next day. He found the issue and made the repair in a timely manner. 100% satisfied read more

Overall pretty positive experience with Sungenia, after installing our new solar array, complete with Tesla PowerWall battery. These guys know solar inside and out and their pricing is competitive. I took one star off for a few organizational wrinkles in the process, which could have been avoided with better communication early in the process. It felt a bit abrupt, bordering on dismissive and condescending on a few occasions. Having said that, I have zero complaints about the system itself and the way it was installed. I would still recommend the company. read more

We had a 15 year old system and a broken panel. Sungenia gave us a clear explanation of options that involved consideration of effect of broken panels on the rest of our system, panel removal vs. replacement, our NEM status, cost tradeoffs, current rebates, our inverter capacity, upgrade timing, and more. The information was presented clearly and we didn't feel pushed toward any particular solution. We had the panel removed and plan to use them again for a planned upgrade in a couple of years. read more

Sungenia did our solar and everything was excellent! We had a previous quote from one of the national companies and they were able to show us the hidden details that would have put us in a bad spot if we moved forward. Josh, John and Casey were very communicative with us from start to finish and layed out multiple financial options that provided us the best value. Appreciate the fast and honest work from this company! read more

After having enjoyed solar panels for two years, a circuit board failure quit reporting to me and Enphase. SunGenia, who is a authorized installer responded to my problem quickly and installed a new board in a matter of days. The five year warranty for installation was honored, and Enphase provided the part for free. George Hohmann Rancho Bernado. read more

We had a hard time finding a contractor that would work with an existing solar power system (that needed additional panels), after the original contractor exited the market. Working with John and Josh in the initial quote and build-out was straightforward and simple. Both are communicative, and willing to answer any question you have about SDGE, billing, or even technical details of the new system. The install was smooth, the installers were friendly and professional, and they were very considerate of their noise with a sleeping baby in the house. Casey and the rest of the office staff were also great for accounting and contractual questions. A solar power system is a big chunk of money to spend, and we were confident, throughout the process, that we had found the right organization. read more

Interviewed several solar companies, local and national, prices and presentations varied, battery no battery, then I got a referral from a neighbor for Sungenia. That was the company I was looking for. Local, my calls answered 1st ring, very professional, great presentation, quality product, I like details and Mike had the time to explain all the details. Great company to work with. Everything on time and on schedule. I highly recommend Sungenia! read more

After taking some time to research various solar companies for solar panel installation, we decided to go with Sungenia, and we're confident we made the right decision. They did an exceptional job installing the panels, and they did it in record time. Our panels were completely installed by the time some other companies got back to us with a quote. Every single person we dealt with during the process was extremely knowledgeable and progressively. Highly recommend. read more

Sungenia is a very professional company. Casey who handled the customer contact, was timely, accurate and responsive in answering my questions. Jose, the installer, got my solar system back on line and exceeded my expectations. I recommend this company without hesitation. read more

Sungenia did an excellent job installing our solar system back in April, 2016. The owner, Mike Snell, is very knowledgeable and courteous to take his time answering my many questions along the way. I personally interviewed four different installers (two national companies and two local companies) after inviting them to visit the house and provide a proposal. Sungenia and the other local installer both quoted ~$38,000 for a 12.6 kwh system, while the national installers quoted ~$48,000 for a 9.6kwh system!!! Unbelievable!!! After comparing the two local installers, I selected Sungenia for a handful of reasons: 1. The price... most competitive: we were almost robbed by the national installers who install the same quality components in smaller systems kwh for much higher costs. Mike installed a larger system with good quality components for a better price. The other local installer wanted to use subpar quality components, so Sungenia really hit the sweet spot between price and performance. 2. Quality of the components: same quality or better components than national installers (solar hardware is pretty standard nowadays). 3. Mike made himself available to answer all our questions. He's a really good communicator and patient! 4. Fast install... 2-3 weeks from quote to installation! We actually initially went with another local installer before finding Sungenia... the other local installer had a huge backlog of projects that were overwhelming to manage. We waited 6 months with no progress. We were simply not a priority for that other installer. Then we found Sungenia. Mike made us a priority and we had our install in no time! read more

Great company, did what the promised. Showed up on time. Work was clean. Excellent job

Not responsive or reliable. Originally, I wanted to move some panels and add a few. Sungenia came out and gave me a quote that was fair enough. When I emailed back asking if we could just move some panels and not add any, I just got outright ignored. Went with another company that did what I wanted, and wound up planning on adding more panels anyway after hearing their explanation and understanding why it would be a good fit for me to do so. read more

The BEST solar company in San Diego! My wife and I purchased our first home and we trusted Sungenia to handle the new roof and solar install. They were extremely professional and walked us through the process step-by-step. The best part? We were able to finish ahead of schedule! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for solar in San Diego. read more

This company came highly recommended. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. The whole process was incredibly fast. The installers were very fast and efficient. Price was reasonable. My only complaint was communication at times. There was a change in the location of my array as well as a limitation of my box that was not communicated to me until the work was done. My follow up email was unanswered. But, I know how important these reviews are to Solar companies, so I will keep this 5 stars based on the labor and quick turnaround. read more

Incredible customer service experience. Mike was extremely patient and helpful in designing the system. Don, Josh and the whole crew were great on install, adjusting to our schedule, protecting our roof and working through any challenges. Highly recommend. read more

Great company! Great customer service! From beginning to the end, everyone was very pleasant and communicated well. During installation the crew was very respectful, clean and hard working. We will be recommending them to our friends and family! read more

I can't speak highly enough about everyone at Sungenia! I was left in the lurch when the solar company I had chosen (Horizon Solar) all of the sudden went out of business with no warning and no notifications - in the last steps of the process. I called some consumer support groups for solar who pointed me to directly to Mike. The next day Mike (sungenia owner) came out to see what he could do to help. His team when above and beyond to fix problems the other company had done and get me permission to operate. Special shout out to Casey who works in the office and spent hours of her time researching and driving the project to completion. We are up and running now - and I wish I had met and gone with Sungenia from the get go. read more

Sungenia Solar Solutions didn't waste any time and got right to it like they said they were going to do it. We are very happy with the entire process, every one we dealt with was very professional, knowledgeable, and very nice. They explained the process and kept us informed at all times. We were also very happy to see that the equipment looks nice and was professionally installed (I compared it to my neighbor's houses). We strongly recommend Sungenia for your solar needs. read more

After talking with several different solar companies and listening to their cost you nothing lease programs. I called Mike at Sungenia. I setup an appointment. Mike came over. In 1/3 of the time Mike had explained more to me about solar than all of the other companies. I went with a purchase not a lease. Everyone that I came in contact with from Sungenia were so knowledgeable and professional. I'm so happy with my system and the installation. I'm just now coming up on one year of the installation. My advice is before you sign up with any other solar company give Sungenia a call. read more

Great experience. Best price. Smooth installation process. Stayed right on schedule. Nice people. Highly recommend.

Mike Snell, owner of Sungenia Solar Systems out of Poway (and operations manager Conrad), serving North County and beyond was one of the BEST contractors I have ever worked with since I have relocated to SD from LA! When we bought our house in the summer 2016, we knew that solar power was a top priority and we went to all the "home shows" to check everyone out and set up appointments to bid our job. We we kind of "eh" after every appointment on all the people we met with to bid the job. Then a friend referred Sungenia and Mike Snell and gave me a contact phone number and we decided to get one more bid. He was able to schedule an appt within 24 hours and we were on our way! He came to our home with his operations manager, Conrad, and did a full inspection of our house and discussed where the solar panels would go. He spent extensive time at the electrical panel to figure out how to make that work with the system and came up with a workable solution. He painstakingly answered all our questions about the changes from Net Metering 1.0 to Net Metering 2.0 with SDG&E. This company really listens to their customers and are up to date on the latest technology platforms and equipment. You are buying from a "made in the USA" vendor with Sungenia - so many of the panels are being made in Asia and we like to support small business owners. Our 28 panels were installed about 2 weeks later and the whole crew was very professional and efficient. The job and paperwork took less time that I had figured since Sungeia does most of the work for you! I would HIGHLY recommend this company for anyone looking to add solar power to their homes! We even got connected to SDG&E sooner than later. I thought it would take about 2 weeks but we were up and producing energy in 2 days! read more

My inverter died and the company that installed it is out of business. I called Sungenia the next day and they replaced it for me. The inverter was under warranty but I needed to pay a transfer fee and standard labor to install it. The plan was to have it done in a few days. They squeezed me in and replaced it that afternoon! They exceeded all my expectations! read more

Do your research, and when you're done, call Sungenia to set you up with a great system, using reliable products with knowledgeable, punctual and thorough installation technicians. No subcontractors here. They matched the outside hardware paint color to our existing paint scheme. The systems works solid with user friendly apps to watch performance and savings. Referred to us by friends, I refer them to any and all solar-shopping friends, family and strangers I meet... thank you Mike and all.... happy New Year... read more

With so many options of solar companies in San Diego, how in the world are you supposed to choose? According to one of our solar visits they mentioned there were over 600 companies to choose from. Thankfully my neighbor had recently had solar panels installed by Sungenia and he highly recommended them. They are a very small company, but they only do referrals which is a great sign that they are busy enough without advertising. We did get a quote from Sunrun, but I am very happy with the service from a small family owned company. Thank you to Mike, Don and Casey for great customer service. The process is really super easy as they handle everything with SDGE so it's as seemless as possible. If you are thinking about solar I would definitely make sure Sungenia is on your list! So far we have had a definite 5 star experience with a great product, great customer service at a competitive price! read more

Sungenia has been a great company to work with from the very beginning to the end! It was recommended by my co-worker who has done extensive search on different options in San Diego. I've also done research and have obtained several quotes, and Sungenia's price and service/warranty were one of the most competitive, if not the best, I have received. What really made me decide to go with Sungenia is Michael's (one of the owners) breadth of knowledge and great communication - speed of response. He was always there to respond to a number of questions I had concerning the technology, billing, maintenance and calculations on long term savings via email, text, and over the phone. Eric and co-worker did the installation in one day and showed up exactly as scheduled. Don was also there to double-check the installation and has met with the city inspector to finalize approval and connecting to the grid. They also set up a hardwired Ethernet connection into my modem so I can monitor EACH solar panels performance over time, which is not something many companies will do. Everything went smooth and fast. They even didn't charge me at the end for fixing a few small issues with previous wire connections in my electric box! Kudos to Sungenia, 6/5 stars! read more

Sungenia Solar was by far the most professional, reliable and honest company I spoke with about solar! Like everyone else looking into solar or just frankly walking down the isle at Costco or Home Depot knows, Solar companies are everywhere, and will do/say anything to earn your business. But Mike and Conrad made everything from the quote, scheduling and install seamless!! They made sure I knew what I was getting and how it worked. Honestly the easiest and smartest transaction I have ever made. Worth it too!!! read more

We are so happy we went with Sungenia. We interviewed other companies, but they were way more expensive and too busy to get to us by the end of the year. The owner of Sungenia spent a lot of time with us answering all our questions and addressing our concerns. The installation was quick and easy. We love our new system! read more

Sungenia installed our solar August 2018, and they were fabulous! My father-in-law is a tough cookie, and he was meeting with solar companies for us while we worked, but he was incredibly impressed with Mike. Had not a critique to offer...and that's saying something. Turns out, everybody in Sungenia is just as awesome as Mike. I highly recommend them if you're thinking of solar. My father-in-law hired them for himself after they finished with us. A stronger testament you can't ask for! You won't regret hiring them. read more

I am extremely pleased with our Sungenia solar system and I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking into home solar. Here are the reasons that I went with Sungenia over the other companies that I considered: 1) The owner, Mike Snell, is a Ph.D. who has a thorough understanding of solar technology. As one example of why this is important, the other companies used "free" services to estimate solar irradiation levels on my roof surfaces while Mike used a satellite subscription service and the elevations from our home to give much more precise estimates. Mike also explained why power optimizers are a better choice than micro inverters. 2) Mike's superintendent is a former homebuilder who understands how roofs, attics, etc. are built. One of the competitor companies assured me that they could run the cables through our attic. Mike was skeptical and took the time to walk though our attic and show me that it wasn't possible. So, I didn't have any big negative surprises that I would have had with at least one the other companies. 3) Mike's lead installer was just fantastic. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and a great communicator. Once again, no surprises. 4) The roofer Mike used was outstanding, and the communication between the roofer and Mike's installer was perfect. Sungenia was not perfect, here are the two things I was a bit disappointed in: 1) The roofer had to replace several vents with a lower-profile model. The roofer showed me the old vents that they had removed. But, neither the roofer nor Sungenia said anything about these vents not being in their cost estimate. Sungenia doesn't bill anything until all work is complete and the system is operational. This is fantastic, but when I received the bill I was surprised to see a $500 increase associated with the vents. Again, they clearly replaced the vents, I just wish they had given me a heads up that this would increase the cost. 2) The office support was ok but not great. For example, an error was made in my application to SDG&E that cost us a couple of days and I was sent documentation for a different solar panel than was installed. Overall, I am extremely satisfied and I don't think I would be if I had chosen either of the other companies that I considered. read more

I talked with many different solar companies over the last several years. Other companies were just trying to "take an order" whereas Sungenia listened to what I wanted, then showed me how they could meet and exceed my expectations. From Sales, through financing, installation, clean-up, Inspection and Powering up my system, Sungenia showed me that they cared as much about my home and family as I did. Sungenia's top level communication and follow through left me feeling like I got WAY MORE than I paid for. If you are doing solar, Use Sungenia. read more

Like most people we've had mixed success in dealing with contractors for our home. We spent quite a bit of time researching Solar companies and decided on Sungenia, and we were very pleasantly surprised by them. The customer service was outstanding, with constant updates during the planning stages as well as the installation stage. We always knew where we were in the process and what and when the next step in the process was. They were here when they said they would be here and they completed what they said they would when they said they would. The system is up and running, it looks great, the bid was very competitive and we are very happy we chose Sungenia. read more

I did a lot of research and "interviewed" a lot of companies when searching for solar and none impressed me more than Sungenia. Mike, the owner, is very honest and informative and helps design the best system for you. He really knows stuff. No over selling or marketing schemes. The installation was quick and easy with no issues. Our solar system has been running great! The whole Sungenia team was helpful to get it all up and running, and they make sure you are setup properly with SDGE. I have neighbors that had different companies get installs and took forever with the city or SDGE inspections, had issues, or weren't signed up on the best solar rate plan because they were never informed what is best. Highly recommended!! read more

Sungenia did a great job for us! From explaining the intricacies of solar power and what to expect for schedule and sequence of events, to the installation and operation, they were patient, unusually knowledgeable, efficient, responsive, and courteous. They were also very reasonably priced; they were the lowest competent bidder of the 5 who gave us estimates. The system they designed and installed is sized appropriately, installed very neatly and competently on just a couple days, works very well, and is likely to last a very long time. They used torque wrenches on almost every nut and bolt, as recommended by the manufacturers; others apparently don't do this, as this question was most often ignored by other solar companies we interviewed. They also took into consideration some options for future expansion, including provisions for adding panels, Tesla batteries, or a possible car charger. They interfaced to city, HOA, utility and other external entities, minimizing the impact to us, yet getting the job done quickly and safely. I have good access to the production data, and we are generating slightly more energy than I expected to see, even in the summer, on my mulit-faceted roof, with chimneys, near the coast with all the clouds! read more

I highly recommend Sungenia. Mike and Don are very professional and really understand the theory and application of solar and it's multiple components and how to size the system for maximum benefit. They installed the system in less time than they estimated and worked to complete the inspection process rapidly. Mike also helped me work with SDGE to switch to net metering. read more
