My wife and I treated friends here last weekend. We went early because of our schedules - 5:30 p.m. on a Saturday and found plenty of seating. When we left, there was a line out the door. That tells you that this place is popular. Among the four of us, we ate the chicken burrito, the beef taco, southwest marinated chicken with sauteed veggies and fried okra, and the chicken fajita with no cheese or sour cream. The orders came exactly as we asked. The atmosphere was family and sportsmen friendly with numerous televisions tuned to NCAA football. Our bill came to $42 + change. A great value!!! read more

I always find it interesting to see about types of cuisine that are not native to an area. Like Mexican food in Alaska: You just don't do it. This place was a hybrid (not calling it a fusion) or American food and Mexican food. Chips and salsa were brought out almost before drinks but the menu very prominently featured burgers, steaks and sandwiches and had fajitas and enchiladas and such crammed into the corners. Speaking of, it was some seriously weak sauce. Like, I'd give it to my grandma weak. I had the blackened chicken sandwich and it was very good, great spices. Had to order the "Spanish Fries" just to see what "fries topped with onions and jalapenos" looked like. It was exactly that, some onions and peppers barely sauteed, they might have looked at the flames and come out. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa at this restaurant. The beef enchilada dish was delicious and well executed. They incorporated the use of shredded cheese on the enchiladas in addition to queso (I prefer queso to red sauce). The meat inside were chucks of tender beef, not ground! Delicious! read more

My first Pepper's experience included chips, salsa, and a chicken florentine quesadilla. The salsa wasn't bad. The quesadilla was very good. Our waitress was sweet, but there seemed to be confusion among the wait staff. I heard them trying to figure out orders and who took whose food...The floor was buckling so it was awkward getting in. I am sure they will fix that soon. Some of my family really liked their food and some said it was just "ok". I am sure we will be back as we live nearby. I expected better quality food from a restaurant in Utica Square. Ordering from Pepper's Grill was an utter disappointment. The meat was way over cooked and tasted as if it came out of a freezer pre cooked. The fried zucchini came as a pile of mush and I'm pretty sure they gave us Kraft Mac n cheese out the blue box. The bun was soggy and the lettuce looks like it came out of the compost. The chips and salsa tastes like picante. Never again. read more

The MAIN/ONLY reason we eat a Peppers is for their 16oz RIB-EYE that is hand cut, aged and charred like we want it. The price is reduced $2.00 (16.99) on Saturdays which helps. I've had their Rib-eye on 4 visited and it continues to be tender and cooked like I requested. Their Mexican food is Fair....Nothing outstanding or unique... Service falling all over themselves.. First off the chips and salsa were not good...slightly spicy ketchup was the flavor profile on that. The white cheese dip was also lacking in the flavor department. I had the flauta plate. The meat was ok but the yellow cheese sauce was gelatinous and unappetizing. I found myself eating around the sauce. We ended the meal with sopapillas. The chocolate sauce tasted off but the honey with it was good (can't go too wrong with fried dough). The guacamole was also yummy. So if you go stick with just desserts. read more

Pepper's use to be one of my favorite restaurants around town and we'd eat here once a month or so. I hadn't been here lately and was very disappointed to discover they'd changed menu since my last visit. Being a vegetarian I was very unhappy they'd gotten rid of most of their vegetarian options including their Veggie Burrito which was my favorite. Their chips. And salsa are good and we've never had to wait to be seated so we've always found it a reliable place for a good quick meal but I don't know that I'll be back since they've decided to become unfriendly to vegetarians. read more

Tonight I remembered why I haven't eaten here in years. Invited by friends so was happy to try it again, but the food and service definitely leaves something to be desired. Chips and salsa are brought to the table; nice to have something to munch on while perusing the menu. However, as my friend commented the salsa looked more like tomato sauce and flavor was lacking. We ordered the queso which was better, but the chips were not fresh. I ordered the fajita tacos which comes with rice and beans. Not bad, but not great. There is absolutely nothing special about the food here. Again, not horrible, but totally mediocre. I don't know if the server was given too many tables or not, but she was completely inattentive. She never refilled our drinks and I had to get her attention to get more napkins and chips as she never checked on us after the food arrived. I believe this place only stays in business because of the fact it is in Utica Square and because of its less expensive price point in a sea of high dollar restaurants. read more

Awful service. Went in a Sunday at 3, not a busy time at all. My boyfriend and I ordered a margarita when we sat down. When they brought the margaritas, the waited sat them down and walked off fast without saying anything, not giving us a chance to order anything else. We saw others servers chatting with other servers but no one came to take our order. After 15 minutes, someone finally came by to see if we were ready to order. Will not be back. read more

Me and a friend were seated at Peppers Grill and were never acknowledged by the staff. We never got our waters we waited for at least 20-30 minutes until we got up and left because of the awful service!! We were over looked by 3 wait staff and they never asked if we have been helped!! I would not recommend Peppers to anyone because they are slow and don't care about customers time!! I am appalled at the service shown at a Peppers that I have been to many times before!!! read more

I had the chicken florentine quesadillas. Typically, quesadillas are grilled/toasted. What I received was basically, a flour tortilla folded over chicken and spinach. It was cold and unappetizing. Also, I had two margaritas with very little tequila. Don't think I'll be going back. read more

I haven't been to Peppers in years but my mother was in St Johns across the street and my family decided to eat dinner here. They say us quickly and easily accommodated our big group. Chips and salsa were out fast and my sister ordered guacamole and queso. They came out in fried flour tortilla bowls which is NOT listed on the menu. My sister, who has Celiac disease, asked if it would be possible to get some in a non gluten bowl and the waitress acted like it was a stupid request and insisted we had to pay for it. We all ordered our food and when it came out my other sister's order was wrong. She ordered the nachos with steak but they were totally plain, no steak. When she told the waitress this the response was something like "oh, I forgot to put it in" and a few minutes later she brought my sister a small bowl of ground beef. It was appalling. If you screw up an order once you remake the dish, you don't bring out a bowl of the WRONG meat for the customer. Everyone at the table who had rice on their plate had old, dry, CRUNCHY rice. In addition to all that we were freezing and the manager told us too bad we were under a vent. Totally disappointing! I have no idea how this restaurant stays in business. read more

It is a sad comment on Tulsa dining that this place continues to be in business. The service is usually acceptable but the food is atrocious. I had a dynamite burrito that is billed as "a favorite since 1979". I hope that is not true. The "dynamite" burrito consisted of a too tough to cut tortilla, stuffed with lettuce cheese and some sort of elusive chili. Not an actual pepper in sight. In fact, having eaten at Pepper's many times ov the last 7 years(my kids like it) I have never seen a jalapeño. I'd you find yourself forced to eat at Pepper's order the fajitas as they are the only remotely edible thing on the menu. The margaritas are watery. Best Mexican restaurant in town!!! Sometimes I get the Greek salad or the steak and baked potato to change things up and honestly those are delicious too. My kids ask to go there for dinner almost every night! Monday nights kids eat free and the margaritas are delicious (and actually affordable!!!). Can't think of anything better! read more

Perhaps I am the only one left that remembers this restaurant at 61st and Sheridan back in the late 70s. The "Usual" Burger back then was absolutely the best in Tulsa. Served on a thin bun with thin slices of fresh tomato, cheese, pickle, shaved onion and a not very thick tasty burger patty. And then there was my absolute favorite: The Dynamite burrito! Smothered in queso filled with queso, chili, cheese, and lettuce... it was absolutely awesome. The chips and salsa were truly among the best in town. And the service was out of this world. The restaurant was filled with caring employees who took ownership of every task they performed. And now today. The burger is a dried out openface assembly of nothing with no flavor nor imagination.... Nothing more than an afterthought designed to take up space on the menu. The dynamite? A thick, tough to cut, cold flour tortilla wrap filled with tasteless cheese substitutes sauce, cold re fried beans, and no chili. I understand that the toughest thing in the restaurant business is to be extremely consistent I get that. But how much effort does it take to pay attention to your customers? Our waitress was more interested in talking to her boyfriend who had walked in than doing her job. When our food was delivered cold and tasteless she advised us that she would have to "ask the manager" about it. So the manager comes to our table, takes the food back with apologies (no apologies from the waitress however). When the food comes back out of the kitchen it is exactly the same, just as cold and just as tasteless. This time however the manager had joined in the conversation with the waitress and her boyfriend and although we simply wanted to leave we could get no one to come and help us. When the waitress finally came over and we expressed our disappointment again she says well perhaps the manager can take something off of it but it will be up to him. The manager comes over and reluctantly wads the check up. After which we simply get up and leave. No apology from the waitress in fact no more attention at all from the waitress she was simply too busy. It is so sad that what was once a Tulsa icon is now simply...A terrible place to eat. read more
