I have been there three different kinds of services for my 1999 car. Good things were, they fixed my problems with new starter new ignition coil wire. Parts are expensive recently. But I was still happy they fixed them Bad one was they tried to fix my air conditioning no cool air by adding Freon , no good. I drove home with no improvement. Been charged with failed attempt $250. They did not tell me it failed. Afraid to do further damages to my car, I now drive with my portable air fan. read more

I needed some tires fitted to my car that I had already purchased prior to the pandemic. They are an oddball size and so I had to order them online. I called them in the morning to see if I could get them fitted prior to lunch, they said they couldn't squeeze it in, but if I could bring it down asap they would look to have it done in the afternoon. I ended up taking the wheels off the car and took them (and the new tires) to their premises to drop them off. They were done a few hours later and ready to go. Tana was my front desk associate, they were friendly and polite. The wheel tech that fitted my wheels came out and helped me place them in the truck while giving me a little feedback on my wheels and some things they noticed when balancing etc... All in all a very pleasant experience, great pricing and somewhere I would definitely go back to. read more

Made an appointment with this Pep Boys through TireBuyer to install a set of four new tires. The location was timely in taking the car and finished within a couple hours (we drove two cars as to not wait). There were a few things that we didn't like: 1) the immediate up charge to do an alignment which is why I think they were much cheaper than other places. I don't like the upsell right when you walk in. 2) the installation was sloppy. We had to take the car in again while we were at Costco because the car indicated the tire pressure was low (within a couple days of the new install). As we adjusted the tire pressure we also noticed excess lube gunned around the tires. read more

I've been a customer for a few years, even before Pep Boys took over. I recently brought the car in for an oil change, during the inspection they noticed a few issues and came up with estimates. I didn't have a good knowledge of the parts and labor involved at the time so I trusted the service manager. The job came up to about $1000. When I got home I researched the parts and labor cost and I found out that I was charge two and three times the price (from stores near by or their own website) for the same parts, in total I was overcharged about 250$ for parts. I was also charged 350$ in labor for rear brake and serpentine belt replacement. The way labor is charged is not transparent at all. I went back and brought up the issue. We had a long discussion, ultimately they did not want to make any changes to address the over pricing. I learn a few insights though that I thought other people might want to know: - I was told that they had all the parts available, however they didn't. Instead they ordered parts from another shop and had them delivered and then charged me x2 and x3. I was never informed about this and I was under the impression that these are their prices as they sell parts on their website. - For labor cost, I was also told that they follow the Mitchell Labor guide to price repairs. If the guide says the job should take 1.5hr but the mechanic can finish it in 20min, you still pay for 1.5hr at ~145$/ hr. - I was also told that if you bring your own parts then they will charge you a higher rate for labor and they don't warranty. After this experience I lost the trust I had for this place. I recommend taking the paper work for the issues and repair estimates and getting a second opinion before moving forward to make sure they are legit problems and that you're getting a fair estimate. read more

The mechanic engineers here just don't have the skill to fix anything , they also over charge. We came in with brake squeak. They charged us $216 for lubricating the brake components with hourly rate $172. After 2 days, our car squeaks even worse than before. We asked for a refund, they rejected. read more

I am very unhappy of the recent visit to this place. They mentioned lubricating the brake components can fix the brake squeak of my car, and charged me $217 for it. But the brake start to squeak again after 2 days. I now doubt they ever delivered the service. If yes, I have to say the mechanic engineers here don't know what they are doing. read more

We purchased 4 tires under the 'buy 3 get 1 free'. We arranged the appointment online. On arrival at the appointment, Jeff said that he had tried to call us earlier that morning to advise the tires weren't there. We didn't get the call, looks like it had been blocked at our end, so not their fault. The tires were going to take another couple of days to arrive, but Jeff supplied us with an alternative tire option which worked out OK and we went ahead with it and had the work done by Aleksey who had it all done in about one hour. We are very pleased with the choice of tires and the service. I would definitely recommend them and I'll be using them again, no question. read more

This shop used to be close to 5 stars when it was still Goodyear and KJ was the lead technician, but since then the customer service and quality of work has gone downhill drastically. My husband and I both brought our vehicles in recently and both problems were mis-diagnosed drastically. I was experiencing issues with my steering and we had brought it in a few times for other maintenance and mentioned it was having issues, but no one was ever able to recreate the issue. When the issue got significantly worse, we brought it back in and after some diagnosing, we were informed that my 2016 Toyota 4 runner had a broken rack and pinion and it was extremely unsafe to drive. This made absolutely no sense as the vehicle is rarely driven and has never been offloaded in. We were quoted $3,000 to replace the rack and pinion. We decided to get a second opinion and took our vehicle to Toyota, where we were informed that it was the lower intermediate steering shaft and the u-joint was seizing up. The cost to fix was $600 and the vehicle drives completely fine and we were informed that nothing about my rack or pinion is damaged. Now, moving onto my husband's truck (2012 GMC Sierra). His truck was having issues starting until one day it just wouldn't start. We suspected the basics: battery, alternator, spark plug, etc. We had the truck towed to Pep Boys and they said it was the spark plugs, so we had them replace all the spark plugs because they were flooded. After replacing those, the truck still wouldn't start. They later informed us that we needed a new engine which would cost us upwards of $5K because the engine was flooded with gasoline and the oil pan had gas in it. I'm no mechanic, but from the brief research I did, even if the engine is flooded, it doesn't mean that the engine is shot and also, a vehicle that isn't driven regularly can have gas mixed in with the oil. We decided to get a second opinion and have the vehicle taken to a dealership. Once the dealership looked at my husband's truck, they were able to determine it was a bad fuel pump (it was over pumping--which is rare). They replaced the fuel pump and the truck runs perfectly fine and we do not need a new engine. The ironic part is when I googled failed fuel pump, Pep Boys has an article that pops up saying to bring your vehicle in if you are experiencing any of the signs of a failing fuel pump. My intention is to not point fingers, but I do want Pep Boys to understand that they have mis-diagnosed two vehicles and always tend to go to the extreme when diagnosing a problem. Since this incident, I highly encourage that Pep Boys learns from their mistakes and works on training their mechanics correctly to ensure they are properly diagnosing problems. I hope what happened to us does not happen to anyone else. read more

The next day I received a call from Chris who sincerely apologized and asked me to bring my vehicle back in so they could make it right. When I returned later that day, the staff (especially Patrick) more than made up for the mistake. They were incredible. They really showed that they do care and take pride in their customer service. Purchased set of 4 mud and snow tires for my 1 ton Chevrolet 4x4. They sucked in the rain. I got stuck on a hill in april during a rainstorm. Turns out they are 4 ply not 8 or 10 ply. Tires not rated for my truck. I went back to let them know I was not very happy with them and to see if i could exchange. I got a "that's to bad". So i drove on them for a year or so. Tire went flat and I figured I would let them fix it. Turns out they say they can't cause tires are to worn. They are 2 years old. The reason they are worn is wrong tire for truck. I took it to Les Schwab their the ones who told me they were only 4 ply. Purchased a new set of mud and snow inc sipe. $1,300.00. This shop is lame. Will never recommend or use again. read more

Make sure to listen VERY carefuly when they quickly and quietly give you an on the spot estimate for something you do not need. Better yet, ask them to repeat it. That mistake cost me enough to put my car up for sale today so I can pay rent at the end of the month. Been going here and woodinville since it was s Elliot tire center. Once Pep Boys bought them, they have done nothing but try to upsell my wife and I stuff we don't need. I walked in there with holes in my shoes and they didn't blink when I said ok to full-weeks-pay spontaneous brake job when all I wanted was an oil change. They told me I NEEDED pads and that other stuff was starting to wear. I thought I was just getting brake pads. My fault though, I bit and they reeled me in. TL;DR If you are young and/or female, avoid Pep Boys on 85th. If you don't you will be ripped off by folks who have no qualms and no discernible morals. I have been a customer of this shop for many years (10?). I have sent friends and family to this shop and repaired my two cars there repeatedly. Two weeks ago however my daughter's power steering pump broke. This is a $120 part on Amazon, the repair is taking roughly 1 hour. I was not home to check the estimate, but based on my previous history with this shop I advised my daughter to trust the work.... So imagine my surprise when they charged $1800 for a repair item that would be under 500 anywhere else. They charged 6+ hours of labor and $664.24 for the $120 part. So I go to ask them what's up. Here's how that went (the manager there was Chris): Me: "Why did you charge 5X the Amazon price for this pump?" Chris: "We don't source our parts off Amazon". (So the fact that they source parts from a more expensive place is an excuse? And if they indeed source from a place that is 5X more expensive, isn't that shameful incompetence?) Me: "Why did you charge for 6+ hours of labor when this repair takes one hour?" Chris: "We also flushed power steering and replaced the spark plugs". Me: "That is ridiculous, highway robbery level theft". Chris: "We checked everything with the customer". Me: "You mean my 18 year old daughter, right?" Long story short, no remorse, no shame, no clue about what it means to show loyalty to their customers - nothing that comes with what you would call a honest business. And what infuriated me more is that they don't pull this BS with me, an adult, but they prey on the young and likely on the female customer. And worse, the car did not even run for one day after the "repair" - they failed to check that the alternator was not charging and the battery came back completely depleted. $1800 for a $500 repair and the car still does not run. That's what they do to a 10+ year client. Just imagine what they'll do to you. read more

My car was under a pending purchase agreement, and under a temporary warranty. I took the car to Chris and team at Pep boys. They were quick to fit me in, and communicated well and frequently throughout the process. It took several steps of approval for the warranty service. In the end they ended up replacing both front and back break pads and rotors and eliminated all concerns with the vehicle. I found the team to be honest and up front will all steps.
