We recently returned to the area after being out of state for three years. During that time, our prior AAA approved shop had been bought out. So when I saw this shop on our way to and from work I was excited. Shop always looked neat and clean. :) Booking the appointment with Blake was seamless and quick. Brought the car in and Mel did a really thorough job of making sure he understood why we were bringing in the vehicle (there was a list!). Shop was very clean and well kept. Mike called us around noon and explained everything. Very professional, unassuming, and candid. I appreciated that he took the time to explain what was done, what needed to be done based on specific issues that were found, and addressed the items they could not diagnose. He even went so far as to explain how issues are diagnosed and that nothing had come up for one of our concerns. Everyone we encountered was friendly, knowledgeable and candid. I originally called a few weeks ago to ask about pricing for an oil change and scheduled an appointment for yesterday. But when I arrived, they said I wasn't on the schedule. Amazing, fast, quality service. We used to live in Kirkland and went to the Kirkland location and we were thrilled to find this location right down the street from where we now live! Mel was the person I spoke to when initially scheduling my diagnostic. He was very professional, answered all my questions. I was checked in quickly when my car (towed) arrived. Dimitri is the technician who diagnosed my car as it's a German brand and he is the specialist. I knew he knew how to diagnose a VM as he has been working on this car brand for more than 2 decades. Mike is the shop manager. He called me with the bad news that my engine was blown. He gave me the option of getting a used engine myself and they would install it and it would be much better financially doing that. In the end, I opted to not repair my car due to the value of the car vs what I owe vs the engine/repair bill. I would, 100%, recommend this shop to anyone looking to have work done on their German vehicle (but honestly, any brand). read more

One of the best services I've had! I cannot recommend more. I came in the morning and got my oil change and serpentine belt replaced. They did all that in less than 1.5 hours. Usually they also wash your car when you do a service with them. Moreover, they were also very responsive. They got back to me with a very reasonable price. Had a 'sticky' caliper on the front right brake. Got a call saying that both front brakes were 'shot'--I thought this may be the case so asked how much. The answer was $1,074. When picking up, the price magically was $1,574. Rotors, calipers & pads plus a bleed. I argued & insisted they call to confirm the price, Mike said he'd told me the correct amount and that was the price, period. I'm going to have my brakes checked out now by someone I can trust. Side story: Several years ago I took in same vehicle to have an oil leak repaired. They failed to repair or even find the leak, charged me $1,000 +/- and when I mentioned this to Mike, he said, "It's out of warranty." I do not recommend this place to anyone for any reason and I certainly will never return. read more

Driving down Avondale Way, a light appeared on my car dashboard stating the battery in my remote was low. I was just approaching AA Auto Service Center, so I pulled into the parking lot. (I should mention that my neighbor has had her car serviced at AA Auto and raves about the work done and the staff.) In the office I asked Meldrick if he could replace the battery for me. He checked his battery supply and found he did not have the correct size. He suggested I go to Rite Aid and purchase a battery and he would install it for me. As I backed out of my parking space he ran out and stopped me. A shipment came that day that included a battery of the correct size. He installed it for me and I was quickly back on the road. This was just a battery for a remote, but Josephine and Meldrick were so nice about it and went out of their way to save me some time and effort. If the staff is so thoughtful about a small item I am sure they would be as helpful with a car repair. Thanks AA Auto, you made my day! read more

Update: so, about a year after I went to get my headlights replaced at this shop, I get a message from Yelp saying there is a comment on my review from the manager. Wow, I think, this guy has a lot of time on his hands! I didn't even remember it at first. But then it came back to me: This was that place that fired the receptionist I mentioned in my review! Was that this was about? Then, I read what the manager, Mike, had added. Scroll down and have a look. He added a bit to the bottom. My reply: Dear Mike: I see no reason for you to make explanation or excuse on this matter. The lights were easily put in order and a little plastic adjustment screw fixed the angle of the lights. So: Why are you trying to find a reason for anything now? We both know I told you my car was in a side impact collision, and the headlights are (I checked) on the front of my car. Plus: they are the same lights that were on the car after the crash, and they weren't crooked until I asked you to replace the lamps. Maybe you're right about the sub-frame and all - who cares at this point? - but the fix was so quick and simple I don't understand why you're rehashing this nearly a year later. Are you under pressure of some kind because of this review? Pressure like your poor receptionist faced? Should I erase it? Give you five stars? What's my move Mike? I just wanted a damn lightbulb replaced, not this ridiculous drama. I don't give a fart in a hurricane what your bosses think of me or my words, but I'm your neighbor, and I'd like to be a decent one. You tell me what you think I should do. Readers: please weigh in and message, if you care; what should our response be when we discover businesses discipline their staff based on our reviews? Should we help Yelp users by being honest, or protect the workers (regardless of competence) from over-reactive, draconian disciplinary measures? AA Auto is a decent business. Mike is a knowledgeable, hard-working, respectable guy. Going back through my interactions to date, it looks to me like the actual culprit in this case is a corporate office too lazy to implement its own real-world customer service monitoring systems, and so instead uses Yelp...and an ax, to take care of any found wanting. I think these guys are STILL giving Mike crap about this little three-star review I did last year! You know how these kind of places work: It's not Mike's fault, or he can't do anything about it, but they'll make him pay and pay. Every little thing used as leverage. I highly recommend AA Auto. Their service is worth the wait, so book ahead as they can get busy! Mike and his team are great when it comes to routine maintenance, but hands down they "take the cake" on diagnosing vehicles. They are fast and thorough and NEVER charge for unneeded repairs or parts - in fact, our BMW SUV is under warranty and when we brought in the X3 for a fuel injector recall, the BMW dealership did not fix the recall properly and as a result carbon was "spewed" all over the engine. It was a MESS! Mike and his BMW technician were so helpful in guiding us through the repair process with BMW to ensure the dealership fixed it correctly the 2nd time. At the time we purchased the SUV, we bought the lifetime oil changes at BMW Seattle, but we recently decided to cancel this - no longer trusting the work BMW does - AA Auto will now be performing our vehicle maintenance and diagnose any future issues that may arise. And yet another example of their service: My mom has a 2009 Honda Accord and her dealership in Eastern WA gave her a list of items that needed to be addressed. I insisted she drive her car over to Redmond and she paid a fraction of what was quoted by Honda. AA did a bumper to bumper check and found some items, but ended up saving my Mom a lot of money. I am grateful for the care her (and her car) received. She is a senior citizen on a fixed income. Mike is honest and very direct and I love that he supports our Military and first responders! I also love the free shuttle service they provide within a certain distance of the shop. :) read more

Went to AA after reading stellar reviews on google. I called up ahead for pricing. they quoted 99 up for brake fluid change and 50 for engine oil. When we went to collect my car, they charged 145 for brake fluid and 100 for oil change. Be ware of the pricing difference here. read more

**Please read this before taking your car to AA Autos**. This is an incredibly untrustworthy car service center who create fictitious and expensive work for your car as was highlighted by a number of incidents: I first took my recently purchased Audi Q7 to AA Autos as the brakes felt a little spongey (I didn't realize at the time but this is a known design flaw with older models), I received a call from the manager, Mike, to say "the brakes are completely shot, they are dangerous and need replacement immediately", shocked I called up the used car center I had bought the car from 2 weeks prior and explained what I had been told, the owner was incredulous that the brakes had been inspected thoroughly before sale and were completely fine. Putting my trust in AA Autos I assumed I had been ripped off and had a full brake system replacement. 3 months later I came in to AA Autos for a service, shortly after dropping the car off I received a call from Mike "hey man, I'm sorry to say this but your brakes are completely shot, you can't drive on them and they need replacing immediately" to which I responded "you literally replaced those brakes 3 months ago" at which point I could hear Mike stammering before saying "let me get back to you" and then hanging up. A few minutes later I received another call with Mike now saying "erm, I'm really sorry, I accidentally misread a 9 as a 4". I decided to ignore the incident and try again with my S5 that I also brought in for a service. Unbeknownst to Mike I had had the S5 brakes replaced by Audi about 7,000 miles before taking it in for this service. Same routine as before I receive a call from Mike "hey, we just checked the brakes, they're literally on the plate right now, the car's not safe to drive" I then informed him that I had just replaced the brakes and again "oh, jeez, erm, let me check", he them called me back saying that in his opinion they needed replacing and a whole load of other BS. So I called Audi up and the first question they asked was "has the brake pad warning sensor light come on?", which it hadn't, to which they replied that there was no reason to replace the pads. I did indeed drive the car for an additional 6 months after this with no brake issues and no sensor alerts before selling the car. Additional incidents: during a service Mike told me that the car needed an obscure piece of work that I unfortunately can't remember the name of, I went along with his guidance but checked online after the fact and read that this particular piece of work is used regularly by car workshops to add unnecessary charges and inflate the service amount, I phoned Audi to double check this and they had never actually heard of this particular procedure, when they researched it themselves they found out that this should never need to be carried out in a car's lifetime. This was suspicious enough, but what was worse was the next service I went in Mike performed the same procedure again but this time didn't tell me, I only found out when I thought the bill seemed unusually high, when I went through the invoice in detail I discovered it had been surreptitiously added on, when I confronted him about it he apologized and then removed the charge (this was the final nail in the coffin when I realized that this guy is completely untrustworthy). The other incident can't directly be attributed to Mike acting in an underhand way but is also very suspicious. I brought my Q7 in for a service with no issues in the cooling system, I received a call from Mike saying that the cooling system needed servicing, already suspicious of Mike at this stage I refused the work and picked my car up. A day later I was driving along and the cooling system light came on with steam pouring out of the bonnet, when I took a look the plastic connector for the coolant had completely come away and it looked as if it had been incorrectly reattached when they reassembled it. Overall this is a totally untrustworthy outfit perpetrated by Mike, but the rest of the team must be aware as well, avoid at all costs. read more

They've never oversold me service, if anything, often time they save us money and even tells us if we don't need the repair I may have thought I needed (I'm a mechanic and fix cars too but I don't have time). When I lived in the Redmond area, Mike was always my go to guy to fix my car. I was a teenager/early college student then and I felt like he always treated me with respect and was never trying to pull one over my eyes. It's been years since I had been back because I moved a bit further away but after trying a handful of new mechanics near me and not feeling like a single one of them was actually being honest with me for some work I was needing done, I decided to make the trek over to Mike's and I'm incredibly glad I did. I don't know exactly what these guys did to my car, but I took it in for a simple coolant leak, and it drives better now than it did when I bought it; the steering works better, the transmission doesn't stutter anymore, and the heater/AC panel functions now, where it didn't function at all when I got it.
