This is a criminal enterprise. I previously left a positive review based on the quality brake work performed by the PREVIOUS ownership. I came to them in 2021, not knowing about the ownership change and happy with previous work because my car losing engine power then turning off for no reason. Turning it back on would fix thr problem for 20 minutes then it would repeat These guys charged me nearly $700 dollars to "replace sensors" and didn't keep the parts they allegedly removed even when I specifically asked them to. Less than a month later the same problem happened on the highway ans the car turned off completely and I needed hundreds to tow it and at that point I had to pay $2k for a new alternator! They refused to return my money. Even worse, when they did their "repairs", they lazily put all the car panels in my back seat rather than under the hood where they belong. Got routine maintenance done here a few months ago. I tried this place out because of the overall positive Yelp reviews and option to book online. My experience with Eastside Auto Care was an absolutely dismal experience that ruined my day. Please try anywhere else in the Eastside if you're not looking to be disgustingly overcharged with pricing practices that completely lack transparency. Made an appointment to drop off my car at 8 am. Arrived on the dot and handed the keys over to Chi. Was told upfront by Chi that it'd take 2-3 hours and need to take a look to get the exact charge price. I bus to work. A few hours later I receive a call from the front desk notifying me that it's take longer because Chi is waiting on a new part to arrive. Then they tell me my car is ready for pickup. I take the 40 minute bus bus ride over and the front desk attendant tells me they actually need a couple hours more for the part to arrive. Another customer waiting by the front desk tells me how the front desk told them a 40 minute estimate that turned into 2 hours wait and counting. Chi shows me the part he's planning to replace and tells me it'll be around $230 total. I go back to the waiting room and nap on the chair due to exhaustion and frustration with his situation. At about 3 pm my car is ready and as I'm preparing to pay the $230 the front desk asked of me, the front desk attendant checks the fee amount with Chi and the the front desk attendant relays to me that the fee has become some $340. I ask them for a breakdown of the price, and they go back to consult Chi. They come back saying the fee includes the charge part and hourly labor rate. At this point I just wanted to leave and get back to work so I paid the amount. I ask him where the key is and he says it should be in the car. I get into my car and find no key. I head back and it turns out they had the key in their collection. They definitely got the best of me by getting me to pay the magically hiked up service fee and playing with my exhausted patience. read more

Honest, dependable and thorough. I drive a used car thats 20 yrs old and always needing repairs. Check engine light was blinking so I brought it to Chi and he repaired the source of most of my car troubles. I'd taken this car to mechanics who gave me quick fixes and overlooked underlying causes. I had work done on my car for an engine light, they replaced a part, the part failed 2 times within 30 miles of driving. They said they would fix it with an OEM part, after having my car for over 2 weeks I asked them for a recipe to confirm the part's authenticity, they refused to show me a receipt, an invoice or any other proof. The owner also became very defensive and told me he wouldn't ask to see my company records. It was a very bad experience working with them. They also washed my car without permission and knocked loose a roof seal. Do NOT take your car to Eastside Auto Care. (This is an update to my review, they called me today to tell me they they had removed from employment the "Owner" who was difficult to work with.) I still do not trust them as I have heard three different stories about my car, and they are now telling me the fellow who said he was owner was not owner and only worked there for 3 months. I'm always a little hesitant when I find a business with straight 5-stars on Yelp. Usually that means they've got a lot of "friends" out there, or they're good at working the internet. In the case of Eastside Auto Care - it's because they're a bunch of good guys that do a solid job. I've been here twice now - first time my car was having issues idling (my RPMs were dropping far below normal causing my near-stalls). Brought it to these guys, they figured out what was causing the issue and fixed it up pretty quick a reasonable price. They explained everything to me, and didn't even try to upsell me on anything. I asked about other parts of my car since it's a little old and they could confidently tell me how my car was performing and offer guidance. This is pretty much exactly what I want from an autoshop and they nailed it. Second time I brought my car in with a clutch/transmission issue (rough first gear). These cars took it in, took a day to inspect it, and told me it was an issue in my transmission that they couldn't fix. I didn't know where to bring my car, but these guys went out of their way to help me find a good transmission shop. Really appreciate this extra effort. Took my car to the trans shop and Eastside Auto Care didn't charge me a cent for the diagnosis and recommendation. Nice gesture. Shows that these guys are popular enough with real fixes that they don't need to nickle/dime everyone for some change. They've definitely got my business for anything that happens to my car in the future. read more

Avoid this shop at all costs. Apparently this shop just recently changed ownership and the new owner is using the old owners rep to get work in his door. He stated he repaired my transmission without ever having to send it out to an actual transmission shop and claimed i had some great warranty, only to find out through the warranty company that no - there is no warranty through them. cut to a few weeks later and i had to take my car to a different shop who found that Eastside lied about every piece of work they claimed they did and my transmission was in need of a FULL replacement. If you choose to trust this shop, Bobby/Chi will be more than happy to rip you off and shake your hand while doing it. read more

WHY did this place come up under "cheap oil change????" I just needed an oil change, tires filled and wipers swapped. Very basic. I can get this done at Jiffy Lube for $30 but there isn't a local place. This guy quoted me over $100???? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? Very pricey, I think - for the work. 2006 Hyundai Elantra - and the work was oil and filter change, replaced one headlight, one tailight, and one license plate bulb. After parts and LABOR I was charged a grand total of $175.52. I will say, replacing the headlight on this model car isn't easy (or I'd have done it myself) but still, it was only one headlight. I'm no car expert but $175 for 3 lights and oil & filter seems insanely steep. They were going to charge me $195 actually - but when I balked at the price, the discounted it down to $175. I've never had a mechanic simply drop their price like that - which leads me to believe they over price (obviously?). read more

Thank you, Fellow Yelpers. You have found me a trustworthy, straightforward, honest, and caring auto shop! I know it is hard to believe I am using these adjectives to describe an "auto shop". During my initial phone call to Eastside Auto Care, Dave asked me to bring in my car so that he could take a quick look (to make sure I was not driving a catastrophic nightmare). Upon taking a look at my front brakes, he assured me I had 2 more weeks. Then, I scheduled an appointment for the following week, wondering what else might be wrong with my car. Fast forward to my appointment day; I dropped my car off around 8:30am, asked Dave to inspect my car for any other potential issue, and was picked up by my friend (because they do not offer shuttle services). In 1 hour or so, Dave called me as promised and told me he could not find anything majorly wrong with my car. He did not make any even slightest attempt to scare-talk or upsale whatever kind of BS some sketchy mechanics would come up with. He did suggest only one other service, which was like $40 with a coupon he also tagged on. He said my car should be ready by 2, but he'd call again to confirm after a quality assurance check. My old but reliable RAV4 was done by 1:30, and there was no surprise or error there. This was such a painless, efficient, and anticlimactic experience ever! Thank you, Dave and his team of mechanics. Joe was amazing and the mechanic whom worked on my car is very good at what he does. I brought my bmw 328 xdrive in with a check engine light on and within the first 30 minutes a diagnostic was made and parts ordered and sent immediately to the shop. This place is the real deal. You won't find anything fancy about this place. But what you will find is friendly, fast and affordable. I was overdue for my scheduled 60k maintenance on my Jeep Liberty (by about 17k). I knew this would cost over $500 at the dealer, so I gave Eastside Auto Care a call. He quoted me a price (about $100 less than I expected). I got my car back the same day (about 2pm) and for less money than he quoted me. If you're looking for a fancy place with shuttle service and all that, then this probably isn't for you. But if you want good, honest, affordable car repairs, this is the place. read more

Fantastic service, skilled mechanics. By far the best experience I have had at an auto repair shop. One of the best service business experiences I've had, actually. Someone in a previous review mentioned that Dave was "The Car Whisperer" - I have to agree. He's come up with solutions to some pretty strange problems that leave you thinking, "Wow, I never would have guessed that would have fixed it!" Dave and Bill know car systems very well. They always check first and give you an honest assessment of the problem. When it's not a big fix, they tell you. When it's big, they explain it in detail and work really hard to get the parts at a reasonable price. They work as hard as they can to get you back on the road quickly. Great group of people!! I have a 2011 Ford Escape. I took my car into the Ford dealership for its 40k mile tune up, to replace the condenser which had a hole in it, and was also going to ask them to check the transmission as I noticed my (automatic) car shifting a bit abruptly. Needless to say, that all day venture was a disaster and I left with an oil change. SO I went to Eastside Auto. They called me after dropping the car off to let me know that indeed it was my condenser that needed to be replaced and nothing more. They also noticed my transmission needed to be services and wanted to replace the fluid (which the dealer didn't even mention), and oh, the quote to do EVERYTHING (which included labor and recharging the AC) was $200+ cheaper than the dealer. And they would get it all done. Today. Way before closing time. And did I mention they offer Prime discount? So yes- we have found our new "car place." Hubby is taking his Challenger in to them next. Bill (the owner) is awesome. A review for these guys is overdue.. I used them about 3 years ago with an old Civic beater that I had and they were very reasonable. fast forward to today... unfortunately these guys couldn't resolve the issue with my car this time as it looks like the computer fried itself, so it's on a truck off to the dealer, but these guys did a great job in diagnosing the issue and they charged a very reasonable and modest fee for the time they spent on the car. I had the car dropped off directly to them and the key dropped in their after-hours box, when they arrived in the morning they immediately took a look and called with their findings, they took credit card over the phone for payment, and coordinated for the follow up truck to haul it off to a dealer. basically Bill handled everything with a few phone calls so I didn't loose even 5 minutes out of my day to deal with my breakdown. highly recommended and will continue to use them when the need arises. read more

I was so impressed with this place and the customer service. Dead car on the lest leg of my road trip. Guy on the phone, (sorry I've forgotten it was over a month ago) helped me significantly. Car broke down, last minute and I needed to be on the road the day of. Why 5 stars? I had used this shop a couple times before for minor things like oil changes, tune-ups et cetera. I happened to be about 5 blocks away when my battery light illuminated. I popped into an auto parts store thinking it would be a battery. They diagnosed it as a bad alternator. I drove to Eastside Auto Care, explained that my job, my work, was very car dependent; That I'd probably have to rent a vehicle while I queued. I then braced myself for the quote. [opening sound from Pink Floyd's "Money"] I was more then mildly surprised when it came back very reasonable even compared to other private shops. As compared to the dealer it was just pennies on the dollar! Further, they agreed to have it fixed by 5:00pm the following afternoon. At 3:30PM the next day it was ready. But... The first words out of the attendant's mouth was "Did you realize the amount of labor necessary to take that alternator out of your particular version of car? " "uh oh", I thought. [opening sound from Pink Floyd's "Money"] The bottom line? The work they essentially "gave me" was a royal pain in the tail, it took much more effort than they had expected but they stuck to their originally quoted price. Later, when I searched online for the labor-hours to do this job I was shocked. To say the least , I got a good deal. I offered to pay a bit more, but they refused to take it. I left there with a properly installed new alternator that cost me a fraction of what the dealer would have charged, and it was done on time. In todays world of auto repair, You need a combination of competence, integrity, and honesty. The people at Eastside Autocare have demonstrated all three and I will heartily recommend them to my clients and friends. read more

I'm always skeptical of services recommended by mechanics as I have decent experience repairing my own car and I've often had services recommended to me that I knew were not necessary. Before bringing my car in, I had already identified the issue and mentioned it to Bobby. The oil change, PCV valve replacement, and engine flush(this was actually worth it) were completed very quickly and I got the car about 2 hours later. When Bobby mentioned other things they inspected, his recommendations for future service aligned exactly with what I knew my car would need(I already diagnosed it myself before coming in). They use high quality parts(OEM) and fluids. The fluids they use are mostly identical to what I have run through my cars for years and are of the highest quality and reputation. These guys will NOT try to sell you something you don't need and they passed my honestly check 100%. It's obvious that they employ knowledgable mechanics that are passionate with what they do.I highly recommend EastSide and I use them for all my repairs now. I cannot rate them highly enough. read more

My Jeep decided to stall on the way to work today, so I did a quick check of Yelp and found Eastside Auto Care, which stood out from the others. I spoke to Carlos, who was friendly and professional and told me to come on over. What I thought was just one thing actually ended up being several things that needed to be repaired. There was never any high pressure, though. Carlos walked me through the diagnostics they ran and prioritized the most urgent repairs, such as a leaking water pump. He kept me posted on progress and any new findings throughout the day. While it ended up being a longer process than I anticipated, the good thing was the shop is just a short walk from Whole Foods. Since I had a busy work day, this was a great place to hang out with free wi-fi and excellent snacks. I'll be back for more, since we couldn't squeeze it all in today--plus I'm no money tree. If you want to turn an otherwise painful experience into something rather pleasant, this is your shop. If you're looking for cheap, you could probably find lower cost elsewhere, but you likely won't get the same quality, service, or 3 year warranty that Eastside Auto Care provides. read more

I've taken my car to Eastside Auto Care multiple times. In the past they seemed fair, treated me respectfully, and were reasonably priced. However, they've forever lost my business after a recent encounter as I no longer trust them and I recommend you don't either. I took my car in a about 6 weeks ago because it was having trouble starting intermittently. They diagnosed a worn belt and faulty battery. Along with replacing those they recommended a bunch of fluids be replaced, leading to a total of about $1200. I agreed to all of their recommendations as I knew I was due for some maintenance on my vehicle. As I was picking up my car I was told the mechanic noticed that the tension on the belt wasn't correct so I was asked to wait as he fixed it. Fast forward to a few days ago when my car wouldn't start. The battery was fine- this was some other issue. I had it towed to Eastside Auto. They diagnosed that the starter was bad. I asked if this was related at all to the issue I had less than two months ago and was told, "Oh, I didn't look at your history". When I explained the history I was told that, "There's no way to know. Parts just wear out". I was then quoted almost $800 for parts and labor to repair the starter. As that sounded outrageously high to me I called two other mechanics in Redmond. Both quoted me very close to $500 for the same repair. When I called back with this information Eastside Auto did match the price (though I still had to pay a diagnostic fee of $128 on top of that), which was appreciated. They could offer no explanation as to why their quote was so much higher other than, "We raised our labor rate." Then, when the shop called me to tell me the work had been completed, I was told that the mechanic noticed that the tensioner on the belt I had replaced 6 weeks ago was wearing out and should be repaired soon. I again noted that I had work done on the belt very recently and even noted that there was an issue with the tension on the belt as I was picking up my car. The representative I spoke with was dismissive of this and said, basically, that "things wear out". I freely admit it is possible that both the starter and the tensioner were fine at that time of the original repair and wore out 6 weeks later, but I'm skeptical. Even if that is the case, I feel that this time Eastside Auto Care did not treat me respectfully and they attempted to significantly overcharge me. I don't like leaving a bad review for a small business, but in this case I think it is fair to warn other potential customers. read more

Had brake work done on a '99 Honda Civic - Dave was up-front, easy to work with, did great work, and made good on his promises regarding time. He applied a coupon that was currently making the rounds which I wasn't even aware of, saving me $200. And he made suggestions for some more work that was needed "down the road, in 3-4 months or so." No upsell, just information. I'll stay positive, and simply mention how refreshing this was after my experiences with two other Redmond-area repair shops. On Christmas day the head gasket blew on my '97 Subaru Legacy Gt. My dad had recommend these guys. Told them some of my work and diagnosis I had done, they gave me the bad news that it was the head gasket but would try to see if they could try to seal it as they have before. They thought they might have been able to but alas, the car was toast. Dave and his guys I know spent plenty of time trying to find a way to get the car on the road even just for a bit while I found a new rig. They have been nice enough to let me temporarily have the car there and Dave has been awesome to do pre-purchase inspections on rigs I've brought in and probably saved my butt from buying a lemon. They front desk and service staff were very friendly and accommodating. They saw my '02 Odyssey for brakes, spark plugs, transmission flush, and an oil change. The office space was neat, tidy, and the woman at the desk was organized and sweet as pie. I made an appointment to bring it in for diagnostics and a quote and then made an appointment for service the following week when I had the chance to bring it in. It was all very easy and they were prompt with giving updates on service and status. They also have an email program to keep in touch with questions they may have during the service. My visit to Eastside Auto was, without contest, the best experience I've had to date at any auto shop. Sure, I always have my reservations about going a place that has only 5 star ratings and quite a few from people with few reviews and no picture, but I assure you, they are correct. It is simply unconscionable to give them a lower rating. I avoided getting my own car during college (I earned my public transportation stripes and walked my way through countless pairs of shoes) but had to bite the bullet and get a money hole a few years ago for my job. I recently got a new position that brought me to the area, so I visited quite a few auto places trying to get my '94 Camry up and running for the several-hundred-mile road trip here. While my experiences were generally pleasant with the places I ended up at (save one- yeugh), my experience today at Eastside Auto blew them out of the water. The location is none-too-exciting, tucked back in an industrial-type business... complex? pretty near the Chipotle/Whole Foods shopping center in Redmond. The waiting room is perfectly adequate, but I'm convinced that keeping things ultra-fancy is less of a priority than treating their customers well and asking fair prices (as it should be, in my opinion!). If you're looking for massaging chairs and free facials while you wait, you ought to go elsewhere. I came in for an oil change and because my Camry had been acting a bit funky. I drive hundres of miles each week for my current job (sorry, ozone! :( ), so having a functional car is top priority for me. I'm also technically a volunteer, so I have to make ends meet on a tiny living stipend and I am just looking to do the bare minimum to keep my car getting me from point A to point B. One of the mechanics walked out with me to my car and patiently listened as I explained some odd things about it (you can only unlock it from the passenger door, the E brake light goes on and off randomly, my windshield washer fluid cap is missing and the reservoir is cracked but not leaking, etc etc etc) and mentioned some concerns that I've been having. Since I've had some experience with mechanics trying to swindle me/treating me like I'm stupid, I mentioned that I'd changed my own vent window with one I personally extracted from a car in a salvage yard to save some money. He was duly impressed but after the rest of my experience, I'm very convinced I would never have needed to show my car street cred for any of the staff to treat me (or anyone else) well. The paperwork was minimal (thank you!), everyone was cheerful and pleasant, and the oil change went faster than any I've ever had despite the fact that they seemed very busy. The mechanic took the time to change some rear light bulbs that were out and did a thorough once-over of my entire car, including airing up the tires and topping up all of the fluids. If that weren't enough, he spent extra time showing me how to check my transmission fluids and even gave me a few shop rags to check it with. I had a missing cap on a tire and they found an extra around and put it on for me. He gave me a detailed report of things to look out for, and reassured me that he understands that I'm just trying to keep my car in running condition, not turn it into a ferrari. (All of this while cars kept arriving for him to work on!) In the end, he offered to take a look any time if anything came up, didn't charge me for any of the extra time/services he provided (I've had mechanics try to charge me $12+ for changing a small rear light bulb), and gave me a really wonderful deal on my oil change. It was fast, very reasonable, knowledgeable, respectful, kind, merciful (did I mention I get only a tiny living allowance?), and cheerful service! Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I'm so happy today. Why? Because I just found an auto mechanic who is completely honest and treated me exceptionally well as a customer. Background: I had work done on my Infiniti I-30 brakes in May 2011 by Eastside Auto Care. They offered a free oil change and inspection earlier in the year to me as a PRIME Card customer, and when I took my car in at that time, I met Dave, and I liked that he seemed to genuinely care about customers and serving them well. They offered a shuttle to the Microsoft campus (or wherever I needed to go) and the service was fine. So for this reason, I opted to have him work on my brakes as well. I also got a small discount on the brake job as a PRIME customer. Dave and his team replaced my brake pads and rotors (in fact, the new rotors were an upgrade to a NASCAR technology). The work was done, and my brakes were pulsing no more. Fast forward to November 2011, suddenly my brakes are pulsing again. I called Dave in December 2011 to let him know of this and he told me to bring the car in right away. He even gave me priority over his other work since he stands behind the work he has done in the past. I really appreciated that. Come to find out, there was a recall on the rotor by the manufacturer. Dave was completely honest to me on the phone about it, explained the whole situation in detail, and kept me in the loop. He even was highly apologetic about it, even though it was not really his fault. He looked at the situation through the eyes of me as a customer who needs his car to work properly. He placed himself in the shoes of a mechanic who sincerely wants to help me have that, not the shoes of a mechanic who wants to maximize the amount of dollars out of my pocket (or anyone else's, for that matter). Dave also took the time to explain a problem that I had with my front tires, which had a bit of a warped belt. He doesn't sell tires, so he wasn't trying to make a buck off of me, he was showing me an issue that I needed to give some attention to. He also explained in clear detail what was wrong with the old brake rotors and why there had been a recall. I made an initial appointment with Dave to have the brake work done, but had to change it on more than one occasion due to my busy work schedule. Dave was completely understanding and accomodating every single time. To top it off, when I took the car in this past week, I told Dave that the car was due for an oil change in another 20 miles, why not go ahead and save myself a trip and get it done while it was there. That afternoon I was ready to pay for the oil change but Dave did it on the house. He clearly did not have to do that - the rotor problem was not his fault, he had already gone above and beyond to help me - but he did it anyway. So, to summarize, if you want an auto mechanic who: * Treats you honestly and fairly * Takes the time to explain what the problem is and how he's fixing it * Stands behind his work, even when a problem is not his fault * Goes above and beyond to serve you as a customer * Runs a friendly, family operation Come see Dave and his team at Eastside Auto Care. I would give this place 10 STARS if I could. I was sad to leave Phoenix and the mechanic services of my good friend Steve, who specializes in Hondas. He's the reason mine is still running so well after 180,000 miles. I hate looking for mechanics. And as a woman, it's doubly-frustrating because I find they often treat you like you know nothing about cars and try to take you for all they think you're worth. The first time I tok my car to Eastside Auto was back in the spring. I had taken it in for a simple oil change at one of the chain places in Redmond. Of course, during their complimentary inspection they found something wrong with the car (when don't they?). Supposedly my rear breaks were leaking, but inside and not in a way I would see, but was very dangerous, and wanted almost $500 to fix it. I called around for some price comparisons for the work - most of the places just quoted me a similar price - and that they would have to replace anywhere between one and three parts. Then I called Eastside Auto. Before he would give me a price, Dave first explained to me on the phone how what I was told was wrong with my car was very rare. Then, he said if it was that specific case, he only needed to replace one part. Then, he quoted me for the part and labor and it was a THIRD of the cost. I made an appointment right away. When I showed up, Dave explained everything he could possibly have to charge me for again, and let me know he would call me after they got in there to look at what was going on. Two hours later (I dropped it off earlier than my appointment), he calls to let me know they've been over every inch of my car, including taking the rear wheels off and inspecting break components, and there is nothing wrong with it. He adjusted all my breaks and sent me on my way free of charge. I have never heard of walking out of a mechanics shop without having anything fixed. Fast forward to now... I just left Dave's shop from picking up my car after having the front breaks serviced. Like before, he explained everything they thought they might have to do to my car after I described the problem and called me after they looked at it but before they did any service to let me know what plan they were moving forward with. In addition, he cleaned and adjusted the emergency break and rear breaks again. He also buffed my headlight covers, which had been turning yellow from the weather and sun. In order to get the job done today he had to use more expensive rotors than he normally would, but he charged me the original price we'd talked about. And though the shop closed at 5:00, he was gracious enough to let me pick my car up at 6:00 on my way home from work, despite it being a Friday night. Plus, it cost about half of what it would have at one of those chain places. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have stumbled upon such a friendly, honest, economic, and quality mechanic. read more
