Got an assortment of pastries and a whole cake. All the eight pastries were bland and dry. Low quality ingredients used for frostings and creams. Skip. The lemon buttercream cake was decent. The cannoli I got this time was fresher tasting technically but the middle part was essentially not filled at all. Skimping so much on the cannoli cream filling so that only the edges even have any cream is just so disappointing. I also ended up getting a Chocolate Mousse + Pudding cup that was SOUR and tasted unbelievably old. I just cannot in good faith really come back here again cause it just left such a bad taste in my mouth even though I hoped it'd be better. A pleasant surprise! The cookies are fresh and taste pretty good. I got my usual linzer tart and their chocolate chip cookie and was very satisfied with the result. Both are made well and the jam in the linzer tart was very smooth. The chocolate chip cookie is decent too but needs a bit of getting used to after a bite or two. They also take credit cards, which is something I do not see much of around here. For an item or two, take it. read more

A bakery in my area that still took TWO hours to arrive. The pastries weren't especially fresh so I don't understand the delay. The delivery man was friendly though. They also ran out/ forgot my order of bread. It's weird because they called to ask if I wanted the cheesecake with a strawberry on top but didn't tell me they ran out of bread. I've been here before in person to buy some really GOOD custom cakes and everything was fine so I recommend going in person instead of ordering off of seamless *** I'm giving this place 4 stars because I remember how everything was on point in person even though i'm tempted to give it 3 stars for this time. The red velvet cake was tinier and not as "solid" as I thought. The red velvet cake is definitely better at rimini's bakery. The apple crumb muffin was a cool option and the flavor was dope. Entenmann's crumb cake is better + more worth it though. The texture was squeaky, but when I ate it after leaving it alone for a day it tasted softer. The cheesecake was good though! I picked up 2 birthday cakes here because of the location convenience (I picked up sushi from sake next door). The girls working there were helpful with the cakes. One was carrot cake and the other was Oreo. The Oreo cake was delicious. It had cookies and cream filling and chocolate cake. My family loved it, however the carrot cake was EXTREMELY disappointing, especially for $25. Each cake was $25. The carrot cake was dense and did not have flavor, there was barely any carrot in there. It was VERY dry. When purchasing a $25 cake I expect for it to taste like what it is and unfortunately it did NOT taste like carrot cake. Atmosphere: 5 As soon as you walk in, the smell of the bakery is warm and just makes you drool. It smells SO HEAVENLY inside. The baked goods are all very organized and brightly lit. At the window from the outside, you can see different loafs of breads and they all look so good. Portions: 5 I only come here for the butter cookies. They are all uniformly made and have been consistent for years. The cookies aren't filled with too much jelly and sprinkles either. I love that there are so many colors to choose from! Flavors: 5 I don't know if they make the cookies fresh every day or not but they never taste stale. I would buy a big box (1 lb) and eat it over the week. Even when I'm down to the last couple cookies, they don't taste stale. I've moved to NJ for a while and have been craving these cookies. I tried buying the ones from the supermarket but the texture, the taste, the look of the cookies just don't compare to the ones here. I really wanted something sweet while I was on 86 street, I looked up the closest bakeries and was surprised that I've never been to this one before. After reading some reviews on yelp, I decided to go in. Upon walking in, everything was fully stocked (on a Friday evening). There were no customers in the store. I bought red velvet slices, carrot cake, oreo cheese cake,, tarts, 2 lbs of butter cookies, mousse cake. Everything equalled to about $50. The butter cookies I asked to get a mix. I was given, almond cookies (amazing! I wished I've gotten more), gingerbread cookies (didn't taste like anything & they were dipped in chocolate), the usual sprinkle star shaped cookies (most pieces tasted stale and old), valentines day sugar cookies (I came in on March 5th...I threw those out right away), sandwich cookies with jam (very fresh & delicious!), chocolate straws (they tasted weird with weird texture), and just other random cookies that weren't good & stale. I was overall very upset with the cookies aside from which I noted were good. I truly enjoyed the carrot cake, but even then it had a bite of age to it. The red velvet cakes had no taste. My mom enjoyed the tarts very much (I didn't get to try them), as well as the mousse cake. My boyfriend didn't really like the oreo cake, stated that it had a sour taste to it. I didn't try it for the fact that he said that haha. Stopped by on a crappy rainy day hoping to get some joy from People's baked goods. Upon arrival you'll see partitions and the store allows only 2 customers at a time for the obvious reasons. The hispanic lady wore a mask/gloves and was nice enough. I bought a slice of the strawberry shortcake and chocolate mousse. I believe if you want to truly judge a bakery, you need to try the usual common items. Next time, I'll try a cannoli! Anway, the strawberry shortcake was pretty good. I enjoyed the cream and the cake tasted fresh. The chocolate mousse was decent but, I found a piece of paper lining baked inside the cake. I thought I it was from the paper lining under the cake but found another small piece as I was chewing. While this did spoil the experience, things do happen. I'm just glad it wasn't some other foreign object. I do intend on returning, just hope the bakers are taking precautions when prepping these baked goods. FYI, it is cheaper to order in person rather than ordering through seamless/ordering app because they do take a portion of the total. So, support local businesses by going in person! I ordered a strawberry short cake,when the cake arrived it was iced cold and not fresh at all,it had a refrigerator/freezer burn taste,not even the strawberries on the cake were fresh,the cake was at least a couple of days old,went I complained about the cake I received a call from the store manager yelling at the top of his lungs and being very aggressive,this it's not the only complain this bakery has about the same experience. Overall not impressed at all. Only good things were the okay service, the cute cardboard box tied with twine, cute exterior display, and wide selection. However, the employee didn't seem to love the products they were selling or was enthusiastic to be there. I wouldn't blame them. I doubt the pastries, pre-made cakes, or cookies were fresh unless you timed it right. The vast array of items in large quantities and the lack of customers means overnight baked goods. I got a slice of strawberry shortcake (recommended by employee) and slice of cheesecake totaling $6. Don't think the shortcake was worth even $1, much worst compared to even typically Chinese bakery cakes. The jam in between layers of soggy cake tasted like old cherry, not fresh strawberry. I got a cake with strawberries and cream from their display. The cake was $25, which is not a bad price. The cake tasted alright. There were fresh strawberries on top of the cake and inside the cake, but they didn't look or taste too fresh. I'm guessing the cake had been on display for a while. DO NOT ORDER ANY CAKES from this place. Please review all other customer's reviews below and use your own judgement when placing an order with this store. I placed an order for a 8" Mocha Buttercream Cake thru seamless at 5pm to be delivered by 7pm. This was the only place that had cakes for delivery during that time and we were desperate (our fault). When I got the cake, the cake smelled so strong and the frosting inside the cake was SOUR! You can also tell that the frosting for the "rose" was old, hard and dried. The cake itself was dry and stale. I tried calling the company but they were closed at that time and wasn't able to reach out until the next day. While on the phone with the manager, he insisted that the sour taste was from the cream/frosting and that that was how buttercream was supposed to taste like. I told him I've tried many many buttercream cakes before and NEVER have they ever been sour with a strong odor, but he said that is how his company makes buttercream. That is not how you should run a business by selling old cake to customers just to get rid of your inventory. Maybe it's the whole covid/quarantine period where their cakes aren't selling -- so they're just leaving it in the refrigerator until it gets sold?? But that is disgusting. There are many reviews below stating that their cakes are stale and old, yet the manager denies those claims and state those reviews are old and not relevant. I've been here before and had various slices of cake and they are ok. Not the best but it's the only option around if you are looking for a non Asian bakery in the area. Hubby likes their cookies. I bought a pre made Oreo cake in the morning to take to work. It looked decent but was a vanilla cake instead of the usual chocolate cake for the Oreo cake which I guess is not a big deal but the person I bought it for liked chocolate cake And I thought that would be chocolate. Like other reviews have mentioned there is a sour taste. It seems to be on the bottom layer. The sour smell and taste ruined the whole experience. my coworkers and I think they may have soaked the cake in something and it was just bad tasting and bad smelling. I'm staying away from their cakes. Their breads are good as well as their pizza dough which is why they are getting the 2 stars. read more

I loveeee the butter cookies here! I'll be honest, I buy 1lb for myself and devour them all. The cheesecake here is also quite heavenly with a hint of lemon zest in some so it's not too heavy. They are all so delicious! The fruit tarts are pretty tasty as well and not overly sweet that make you cringe. This review is for their superb customer service! Since it was a surprise delivery for my niece, I didn't get to taste any of these yummy goodness. But from what I heard everything was delicious! Being the terrible aunt that I am..I tried to place an order super last minute (15 minutes before closing time) via Facebook because I was at work. By the time I messaged them back...I realized that their store was already closed and was starting to feel sad that I won't be able to have something delivered by tomorrow morning. Around 10:40 PM someone messaged me back on Facebook to take my order! I was pleasantly surprised and grateful because it's wayyy past their business hours and I honestly felt like they did this out of their good heart. They were patient,polite, and helpful the entire time. Not once did they rush to take my order. They were able to customize the cake to my niece's school color. They even fulfill all my special requests at no additional charge! People's Bakery is one of those hidden gems in 86th Street that has survived for over 20 years. The prices are extremely cheap and the quality is pretty good usually. However, I think they have a hard time selling their pastries, cakes and cookies sometimes because they seem like they just sit there and expire...and I suspect they sell them anyway. I took 2 stars off because the girl who worked there smashed my strawberry short cake into a small box - use a bigger box! This seems to be a consistent issue. read more

I ordered a birthday cake at this bakery and service was so bad I decided to never come back again. The first thing the cashier she charged me 10 more dollars ( the price was showed on the board, and when I gave her my credit card she told me an other total). The next day I went to pick up the cake at 5.30 pm, the some girl told me :can you come back in 30 minutes, I don't know where is the cake. I requested my cake at the time indicated on the receipt. They said they don't have it. I left the store and 30 minutes later they called me and asked me to come pick up my cake at 7pm (1 hour and 30 minutes late). I go back at 7pm... they didn't have my cake ready... I know they made a new cake... (irresponsibles poeple). The cake was bad. The manager didn't come to tolk to me and apologize.
