Kung pao

We recently dined here with a party of 8, and it was a wonderful experience overall. What impressed us right away was that we called and made a reservation only 15 minutes before arriving on a Saturday, and the restaurant was still able to accommodate us in a private dining room. That made the evening feel extra special and comfortable for our group. We ordered a variety of dishes, and our favorites were definitely the Mongolian Beef, Shrimp Dumplings, Hot Seafood Noodle Soup, and Kung Pao Prawns- all were flavorful, well-prepared, and highly recommended. The Garlic Crispy Chicken and Singapore Noodles were also good. The only dish that didn't stand out to us was the Chicken Fried Rice, which was our least favorite of the meal. The service was excellent from start to finish. A special shoutout to the host, who was incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. Parking was convenient as well, with a nearby garage offering the first 3 hours free. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the pricing felt a bit on the higher side, especially considering the portion sizes seemed smaller compared to other Chinese restaurants we've visited. Overall, a great dining experience with delicious food, outstanding hospitality, and excellent accommodation for large groups.

We had dinner at Peony Kitchen restaurant in Bellevue on October 4, 2025. The soup dumplings and sio mai were delicious. The garlic crispy chicken is my favorite entree. The fried firecracker tofu had too much five spice powder that was overwhelming. Another guest ordered the Hot Iron Black Pepper Beef and it was delivered sizzling on an iron pan. It was delicious and I forgot to add a photo because we ate it so fast. I will order my own Hot Iron Black Pepper Beef next time. I will definitely return to Peony Kitchen on my next visit to Bellevue to order the garlic crispy chicken, hot Iron black pepper beef, and other items from their dim sum menu.

Came here on a Monday night for happy hour with a friend and loved our food and drinks! Nice, warm atmosphere and great service. Forgot to take a picture of the food and drinks but did get updated photos of the HH menu. We had the garlic crispy chicken, a manhattan and a lychee martini. Definitely recommend!

Awesome evening at our favorite place celebrating a milestone birthday. Alfredo was awesome and food was exceptional and so was the service. Highly recommend this place for good food and service .

Not nearly as good during dinner, Peony Kitchen has Bellevue prices with good to mediocre dishes with decent servings. Our family of three got to stop by for a Tuesday dinner, with prices coming out to about $40 per diner. For those prices, the food should have been better than what it was. Garlic Crispy Chicken ($24) - it's a good simple dish, for the Sesame Chicken/General Tso fans in the group. Seafood Chow Fun ($26) - wide rice noodles, with a decent amount of seafood like shrimp, mussels. Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup ($19) - a decent dish, with the broth reminding me of a watered down jjamppong. Mapo Tofu Pork ($18) - with ground pork, this was skippable. White rice is extra ($3.50 a bowl), though it was comped by our waiter because he felt he wasn't giving us enough attention because he had to man so many tables (we thought he was fine for his situation, but won't turn down free food). They are also running a July 'Wheel of Fortune' where you spin and get a prize. Ours this time was free tea (normally $6). They automatically charge a 18% service charge.

A very westernized Chinese restaurant Amazed at the classic atmosphere and the food taste

Went here for Seattle week. Nothing beats a $20 lunch in downtown Bellevue! Comes with appetizer (spring roll), cucumber salad which was excellent, hot and sour or egg drop soup, plus a main dish! We got the mapo tofu and also firecracker chicken (asked without peppers). Mapo tofu catfish wasn't authentic but tasty. Firecracker chicken was good just a little on the salty side. Overall amazing steal and I wouldn't mind coming here once more for SR week! portion sizes were bigger than anticipated. They do tack on 18% gratuity but if you do a review or social media you get 5% off! Total was $24.93. What a steal!

Wonderful dish, service and ambience! Great spot when visiting Bellevue, WA! Thank you Peony Kitchen!

Peony's Kitchen offers a cozy and casual atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed dining experience. We decided to try a variety of dishes to share, and everything was prepared exceptionally well. We sampled both the happy hour menu and the main menu, and were delighted with our choices. The spicy wontons were a standout, bursting with flavor and just the right amount of heat. The pork soup dumplings were equally impressive. We also enjoyed a couple other items like the garlic, crispy chicken, the green beans, and the chow mein

Happy hour menu- plus they have some specials on Mondays, Tuesdays, etc that are just posted on paper at the front of the restaurant

We went here for happy hour and enjoyed it! Pricing: Pretty good for a nice restaurant in downtown Bellevue! There was also a special on drinks since it's a Monday- $4 off signature cocktails and $9 standard cocktails. However, the server didn't mention the $9 special and I saw it posted at the front on my way out :( I would have ordered the $9 cocktail instead of the $12 one (originally $16, but $4 off). Another thing to note is they automatically include an 18% tip in the bill. The server did mention it as he set the bill down. Ambiance: I like the ambiance! It was cute and good lighting - not too harsh. Lots of windows so it wasn't dark either. It could get loud if it were full but it was maybe 40% full while we were there (Monday) Food: We liked what we had! The cold noodles were a little bit spicy. Service: Service was good and our server was nice. He forgot to mention the $9 cocktail special but that was all. Our egg rolls took a really long time to come out- like 25 minutes or so, but we didn't mind.

Eggplant & Green Beans

The boyfriend brought my family here and it was a lovely dining experience! The food took a bit to come out, but once it did, all of it came out at once which is always nice. I agree with other reviews that say the portion size is a bit too small. Regardless of the price (more upscale, sure), I believe that plates should have a predictable amount of food. The Chow Fun was in a very shallow plate and not a large pile, and the Honey Walnut Shrimp had maybe...10 shrimp in it? Along with a bunch of honeydew. Interesting, but would've appreciated if it was just more hearty. I always expect with Chinese restaurants for the amount of people +1 carb option to be a pretty fair amount of dishes to feed everyone, but we left feeling...like we had a lot of room for dessert (even after the Pumpkin Donuts!) The Tea Smoked Chicken was well presented and had the smokiness in the crispy skin, which we all agreed was done really well. But honestly, I missed the tea and the flavor didn't permeate through to the meat as strongly as I wished it did. Also, we realized that the Eggplant and Green Beans kind of tasted like...fried tofu. I think the oil was reused one time too many. The flavor otherwise was fine and there was a good amount of it, but no one wants to be thinking about how old their oil is. Our server was nice and friendly -- they take 18% service fee regardless of what you order or party size so just watch out for that! I rate 3.8 but round up to 4.

Whole Crispy Duck

An upscale modern Chinese restaurant with a beautiful interior and food - Great for a parent's birthday or reunion event! Each time we come, the roast duck is a favorite, as well as the clay pot pork belly and the mixed vegetables. If you're interested in cool looking food, the squid ink fried rice and beef short rib are good choices! The food is beautifully presented but I feel like most items are not worth the price here. There's free parking by the CVS underground and it's a beautiful area to walk around after! Service is hit or miss.

Drop by for lunch on Friday. Love the service, ambiance and food. Pricing in the high side but portions are good. Particularly enjoyed the beef short ribs, xiao long bao, beef chow fun.

Food is not very good. Very American Chinese food, too sweet for my taste. Every dish we ordered tasted the same. That's very disappointing.

It's hard to say it's authentic Chinese food, but it's good for sure. I especially like the duck and sliced beef Szechuan style.

They're the first place I've seen in the US with a split pot for individuals, so it's a great way to both try multiple broths and enjoy the freedom of your own cooking vessel, and they have these cute little protective layers to go around the pot as well, which was a nice touch. They're a pay per ingredient (rather than AYCE) hot pot place, so it can get pretty pricey. Despite all the fancy ingredients, I didn't quite feel like the quality was worth the upcharge, but it was a fun experience nonetheless! I got their tomato broth, which was quite flavorful and rich, despite being vegetarian, and I thought it went well with both the house sauce they mixed for us at our table and the spicier variant I made at the sauce bar. While you're waiting for your broth and ingredients to arrive, you can also treat yourself to their buffet appetizer table, which includes kimchi, edamame, and fruit. On the other side, they also have Osmanthus jelly and pandan jelly available for dessert, with a spread of all the toppings you can ask for. If they isn't enough dessert for you, they also serve a tiny ice cream cone before your check -- both are a delightful way to cool down after a hearty and hot meal.

The chicken kaarage was not particularly flavorful nor did it have much of a crispy skin. Also tried the Cos-no-politan mocktail which definitely had that grapefruit flavor. For mains, I got the bento and the Super Bad Boy roll off the happy hour menu. The bento box has good portions. The contents change day to day, but I got chicken teriyaki over rice, 3 pieces of a crab roll, 2 pieces of fish nigiri, seaweed salad with some small octopi. Everything in the box was decent except the teriyaki, which was a bit rubbery. As for the Super Bad Boy roll, it's one of their fried rolls, and the frying made the roll taste a bit dry. Should have ordered a non-fried roll. Overall, service was good, portions okay. Some items were good, some were not that great.

They also offer special plates like spring rolls, rice place, noodles, garlic shrimp, and drinks. The selection of veggie fillings you can add is much more than traditionally offered at a traditional shop, which was fun for me. You can add the traditional (pickled veggies, cucumber, jalapeno, cilantro, soy sauce, mayo) or add lettuce, radish, corn, tomatoes, and more I can't remember and different sauces. So that makes this a fun spin on the traditional and you can make it your way. We went with a more traditional mix of grilled pork and veggies to test it out. Overall solid with tasty meat.
