This Penn Station used to be one of my favorite spots when I lived in Hilliard twelve years ago so I decided to stop by with a friend after dropping our kids off at a basketball camp across the street. I do not recommend I purchased a regular size artichoke chicken and mushrooms Extremely disappointing The sandwich literally had four small tiny squares of chicken that we're not even visual. It look like small artichokes. I was advised you get 1 ounce for two dollars and the cookie I purchased was clearly aged. Unfortunately I returned both items and I will not be returning. The food is good when prepared right, which is never guaranteed. My cheesesteak was fantastic, my son's BLT was sadness on bread. They cut as many corners as possible. Broken seats and tables and even parts of the drink machine. It's been ages and nothing is done about. Manager is the overbearing type evidenced by the all-caps over-exclamated home-made signage posted in the place, and the general demeanor of the employees. As closing approaches, the half of the store with the full size, comfortable tables gets blocked off. Takes ten minutes to wipe down and mop that area, but they wanna get outta here. First off, these are FAR from east coast subs, and Pennsylvania station doesn't have a sub shop, especially a chain. Once you get past that, and try these as a subway competitor, then they are good. But if you go in thinking NY sub, you'll be greatly disappointed. These subs are thin, but they use good quality ingredients, they are cooked to order, and the management keeps a clean shop. While the subs fall short of NY style, the fries are much better. read more

I usually have good experiences with penn station. I love the Philly sun here but this time was different. I didn't get hardly any veggies on my sandwich. I've noticed that the monthly special pricing is not what is advertised nationally. Seems this location is always higher. I could understand it more if it was located in some expensive area with a high cost of living and high rent, but this is Hilliard Ohio. Same ole story...great service when ordering...But as soon as you go down to the cashier....I had a BOGO coupon so was going to get a combo and another free sub...get down to cashier and 1) you can't use this with a combo, dead pan, no customer service...I said you may want to tell the orderers... So she walks down and says it...then a guy comes and says you have to ring it all separate so you could. She shrugs...Another customer asked to not have her bread toasted...same cashier says they can't do that...she says...not according to the guys down there....she says...dead pan again...sorry...Really? This is my go-to for subs. The Italian sub will change your life. I like the bread here more than I like the bread at similar shops, as it is crusty and tastes delicious when toasted. Another bonus - fries instead of chips. When I make an online order, they wait until I get there for pickup to make the fries. It's maybe a two minute process but makes a huge difference in ensuring hot fries when you get home. read more

I desperately wanted to give this place a chance despite the low rating because I love Penn Station. I should've payed attention to the rating. I placed an order online - went to pick it up and drove off because I didn't have a complicated order. I didn't think a sandwich with mayo, mustard and tomatoes was too much to ask for - those condiments are pretty standard, right? None of my condiments were on the sub even though it was on my order. It was just plain meat and cheese. Our family loves Penn Station! This restaurant is our favorite fast food place in town. My boys get pizza subs and my husband and I love the cheesesteaks. I always add extra banana peppers and mushrooms. The subs are always hot and made to order. My only tip is to eat the sandwiches at the restaurant. The best grinders around and the best fries, hands down. But way too expensive. The fries are home made from actual potatoes, not out of a frozen bag. You can even see the potatoes. The grinders are always delicious and perfectly made and they have some choices that are different. It's not just the same old stuff that everybody serves. But the prices are way too high. You'll pay about $10 for a regular foot long. Then more for the fries. You'll pay as much here as you would at a nice restaurant and this is certainly not a classy meal. Almost $15 for a sandwhich and fries? Come on, be reasonable. The food is so good that I do go back but only about once a year. I just don't think it's worth the price they charge and I can't afford to pay that much money for one meal. So I treat it as a special occasion when I come into money like in tax season. In fact, the prices are so ridiculously high, I am almost offended by it. I took away a star for trying to milk their customers for every dime they can squeeze out of them. Had lunch here yesterday with David (18 year old son), and though it was a bit expensive, lunch was very tasty. David had the pizza sub with fries and a chocolate chunk cookie. I had a Reuben sub with a chocolate chunk cookie (and a few of David's fries). Penn Station is one of David's favorite fast food places, and he picked it. He gets the same thing every time, so I know it was good. This was the first time I had their Reuben (I think it is new??), and despite it being served on a white sub bun, instead of rye, it was very good. The cashier remembered to ask if I wanted 1000 Island Dressing (yes) and the sandwich came exactly as ordered. It had plenty of meat and sauerkraut. I'd order it again. My sample of David's fries were tasty. And the cookie? Well, their chocolate chunk cookies are very good and I finished mine before they brought our food. The place seems clean enough, too. The only think I don't really like is that they bring the food out one person 's at a time, instead of bringing the whole order together. It wasn't too bad this time, but sometimes we've had quite a wait for everybody in our group (of 3 or 4...not a big group) to get their food. Literally left crying. The middle aged brown hair woman I am assuming is the manager was so rude. I tried to do a postmates at a location by meijer which is now a mod pizza and I drove 13 minutes to the Hilliard pen station. I tried to pick up my order using my credit card and it was declined so I contacted postmates customer service and they allowed the transaction since the previous location didn't exist. I went back in and tried to make the purchase again but the lady said they can't support third party deliveries which I can respect but I needed to swipe my credit card to prove I tried. She kept saying she couldn't allow me to swipe my card at all and basically kicked me out the store. Very rude customer service and I would never recommend coming here ever. Came in over a half hour before close, was "greeted" at the door by a very rude man who made it known he was displeased by us giving his company business. They were out of both ham and onions (ingredients on several of their sandwiches) and we were strongly encouraged to get cold sandwiches so they didn't have to heat up the grill. No gloves. Seriously. A lot of these reviews mention the great staff. I must have been there on an off-day (Sunday 12/30/18, lunchtime) because both of the women behind the counter were less than pleasant. The music was blasting, the cashier would whisper a question ("do you want any fries?", "do you want your receipt?") then get a worse attitude when I asked her to repeat the question. And why in the world does Penn station do that stupid thing where you order at one end of the counter, then you walk five steps further to pay? Take my order and collect my money at the same time. NO other place has this stupid system, and there's a reason for that. I won't be back. No gloves? But I'm SURE they wash their hands after going to the restroom. The woman sure didn't wash them between handling money and scooping uncooked fries out of the tub by the fryer. Good luck folks. Spin that roulette wheel. I always love the food at Penn Station. I typically go to the one in Gahanna, OH for lunch at work. But, today we decided to stop for lunch with the family at this one. The food was still good! Normally I love Penn station. But this will probably be the last time that I go back to this location. The staff was cleaning the restaurant while I was there The guy helping me was not wearing gloves as he made my sandwich. She handled the bread and then the cheese and vegetables with his bare hands. While this is concerning to me, what was more disturbing was when she walked over while waiting for my sandwich to finish and picked up a dirty rag to continue cleaning!! But don't worry when my sandwich was done and he came back to finish making it, he used some hand sanitizer before handling it. Gross! Last time I will eat there... I stopped in today. The restaurant was very dirty. Lots of unwashed tables, dirty floors, the take out counter was smeary, and even the cash registers were dusty and dirty. All I can say is that the last 6 months or so I keep giving the current staff a chance to make it right ,every time I go back! I usually order simple sandwich meals and it seems they either can't get it right when I ask them to omit a topping or accuse me of not paying for my sandwich after I stood in line and paid! Okay so I have always loved Penn Station in Cincinnati OH and Highland Heights KY however the one in Hilliard is awful! I ordered 3 turkey club subs the bacon was RAW I requested they redo the bacon and they never brought it back they just threw it away! I was given coupons for 2 free subs I went back ordered the same thing and requested the bacon be well done again the bacon was RAW, The place was FILTHY! Smashed fries all over the kitchen floor, ice, and debri its a wonder someone has not slipped and fallen. The tables were dirty and none of the employees wore gloves while handling the food!
